I've a problem with my htc touch, it doesn't won't to start !
everytime i turn it on it turns off right before the HTC welcome screen comes !
any idea what is that ? or how can i flash another rom ?
*it's fully charged
*my rom is Touch_of HD lite 3.0
Thanks
Hi,
Did you flash a new rom or something recently? How old is your battery? If possible....try changing the battery and giving it another shot.
it's a new battery about 2 months or something
yes this is a new rom i flashed it yesterday !
Thanks for your quick response

Hmmm...there you go. That seems to be the problem. Perhaps you'd want to go back to the thread from where you downloaded the rom and check to see if anyone else has had similar problems on their device. Or maybe try to get in touch with the person that cooked it. You can PM them or something. I'm sorry but beyond this....I cant tell you what to do....I've never flashed a rom on my device. Still learning Perhaps someone else on this forum can guide you.
Good Luck
Thank you but i don't think the rom is the problem,
I entered the boot loader and tried flashing 2 different roms and the same thing happens right before the HTC welcome screen "the animated picture where HTC logo appears" the device turns of !
so what is that !!!!
any help please
mine like the fridge!
For troubleshooting, try to cool it in the fridge for some minutes before you turn it on. If this helps, then I have no idea what causes the fault! But you are one step closer by knowing if its a hw or sw issue
If this helps, then I have no idea what causes the fault!

I tried what you said but didn't work too !
I think it might be the RAM or something .. what do you think ?
could be
I've red somewhere that its a RISC controller in the Elf. If so; it contains a RAM itself. So even tough I'm not a specialist on this things I belive that it could be a internal fault in the RISC or the multiplexer to the external RAM or the RAM itself. These things are all a motherboard issue that needs a replacement - in other words a new phone!
If its a SW problem it should work fine with the orignial ROM. On this field I shall keep my mouth shutt 'cus I know nothing about phone/smartphones!! I do think you should make it to the bootleg whit any ROM.. I belive!
have you tried to hard reset
1) Simultaneous press and hold "Power" and "Camera" key.
2) Press "Reset" once with the stylus and then release all keys.
Yes I've tried hard reseting !

That's a relief
Have you tried flashing one of the original roms onto your device? If not....give that shot. You'll find a list of all original shipped roms on the wiki.
I'm not sure
If the mailfunction started after you ROM-flashing "upgrade", then its more likely that its the software. But I know nothing about software on this things or what the symptom may be if theres a missmatch on the phone configuration/model and ROM.
guys I've tried everything even original roms
I think i've to change the board !
Thank you all
Hello
After My Hd2 resets itself it gets stuck at the "stick together" screen and freezes doesn't show the text which rom its running and radio its running. I have to take out the battery for about 10 seconds put it back in and it works. After a while it does the same thing and reset itself. I did a hard reset the problem is still there. Any help would be appropriated
sounds like you flashed a custom rom and didnt match the radio.
oh wait, this is tmous section, all the radios work with all the roms. Hmm, did you task 29 and not flash yet? that would give grey screen with no writing.

All radio's DO NOT work with TMoUS. If a 1024 LEO get's installed with a .51 radio then it will brick it.
But it does sound like a bad custom ROM install if it goes into a cyclic boot. There is a few files that will cause this, but I suggest to re-download the ROM and install again.

Yeah, i already re-downloaded the roms went to kumars then back to energy problem is still there. =(
yea sorry I worded that sloppily. what I meant was that any tmous rom would boot regardless of the radio, assuming the radio was a tmous.(us with regular leos get that grey screen with no rom info when we flash a tmous rom with our original radio, and won't boot till the radio is changed. a situation that tmous users will never come across)
cambxo, have you checked the battery connection pins? People have experienced symptoms similar to yours (resetting and never getting past the boot screen) when one or more of the little gold pins gets bent. Can't guarantee that's the issue, but it's worth a look.

You sure your battery charge pins aren't bent too? I bent some pins on my touch pro and it never worked right after that. Even though I straightened them out. Lots of resetting and freezing.

Does it feel like it's getting hot just before it resets itself? The device will get fairly warm normally, but it's possible that you're having overheating issues, just based on the fact you've connected the issue to periods of heavy usage...

Just contacted t-mobile can't get a replacement because it was a gift. =( Anyone know any way i can get it repair or get a replacement besides t-mobile?

I don't think there's a solution to this problem. I went on the t-mobile forums multiple of people are having the same problem as we are. I called t mobile last week and got a replacement. I guess that's the only solution. Try calling t mobile and getting a replacement.

Go to this thread here, this is a thread on flashing from SD card. It has all the info you will need.
Also you can buy a replacement screen and install it. There is a couple of threads here on XDA on how to do this just do a search for them.

thanks, got on the stock T-Mobile rom now, but the touch screen on the lockscreen only sometimes works. would flashing to android fix this? i notice it will unlock sometimes after i press power then give it a few minutes, so i'm not sure if this is hardware or software related, and i'd like to avoid replacing the screen if i can.
EDIT: weird, i read a thread that said i should use the call button to unlock, and after a battery pull and waiting a few minutes, its worked for a bit, so i guess i found a temperary fix....
so now, i was wondering if its possible to boot android from the nand, and boot windows mobile 6.5, wp7, ubuntu, and meego from the sd, or can win mobile 6.5 only be booted from the nand? also, i need spl/hspl to boot all these things right?

You can't have them all. You can have WP7 running from NAND and Android running through SD. Not too sure on the rest though.

I know it would be a pain in the butt and in the wallet too. But it would probably benifit you to replace your screen. But this is a dessision that you will have to make for yourself.
Glad you found a teperary fix!
Yes you will need HSPL and also MAGLD flashed to your HD2 in that order to flash a NAND Andriod ROM. I beleive you can flash HSPL from your SD card, I think the thread I linked covers this. Buy I din't think you can flash MAGLD from your SD card. So you will have to have a USB cable for this. You can go to the HD2 Andriod NAND ROM section here on XDA and do a search for MAGLD and you will find the thread on it so you can double check and see if you can but I really don't think it is possibble. But you will have to have a USB cable to flash Andriod, WP7, MeeGo, and Ubuntu cause MAGDL does not have SD card flashing ability yet but they are working on it though. They are also working on being abale to run Windows Mobile 6.5 from SD card but as of right now it is not possibl, only from NAND right now. Also if you install a NAND Andriod ROM I think you can run WP7 from SD card but don't hold me to that cause I am not 100% sure of that, but if So that isit no other OS from SD card when running a NAND Andriod ROM.

thanks. for now i'll just work on installing android to the nand. i have a question though, will turning off the lockscreen in android possibly fix the touchscreen problem? i've been racking my brain trying to figure this out. i can either hurt my wallet with a screen repair, or i can do a battery pull every everytime i use the phone.. a real pain in the ass... sigh.. at least i got the phone cheap..

You know I can not say for sure if turning off the screen lock would solve your problem. But it sure is worth a shot so I say go for it and see. Also you can use a app like Touch Tools or BsB Tweeks to cut the lock screen off in Windows Mobile. Just do a search here on XDA or do a Google search for them and you will find them I recomend the Touch Tools this is a really great app. It adds a lot of tweeking ability to your HD2. I love it and have been using it for atleast 5 to 6 months now. Anyway if turn off the lock screen with one off these apps and it fixes your issue. Then you will know if you turn off the lock screen in Andriod it should have the same result. Heck if it fixes it you might just keep Windows Mobile ha ha just joking. I would not blame anyone for flashing a NAND Andriod ROM and getting rid of Win Mo. I personaly like Win Mo.
You're best off investing in a USB cable too lol. Your local hardware shop will have them. Its just a basic USB to micro USB cable.
I dont think any amount of tinkering with any OS is going to resolve your touchscreen problem............
The screen is cracked right?? Theres your problem.........
Could be issues with the digitiser as well because of this.
First job, new screen...........
i've been messing with the phone last night, and it seems the problem is related to the end call button. it seems whenever i try to wake up the phone with that button, it will freeze, while using the green button will wake up with no problem most of the time (>20% chance of freeze). it seems the freezing doesn't happen after a certain amount of time, since i left the phone in sleep all night and woke it up in the morning no problem. so in case anyone has the same problem as me and is too cheap to fix it, try only using the end call button when actually calling/putting the phone to sleep.
and where could i get a micro usb cable cheap besides online? i think t-mobile has them but they're like $10+...
it's dead again!
help! (again). the touchscreen is dead after i HAD to use the power button today, and now i can't use the touchscreen at all! i've tried turning the screen on and off like 50 times, tried like 10 battery pulls, but nothing! please help! can i open my phone somehow to get to the end key hardware or something???
earlier today also happened to me this problem, I install several rom a day, I can not go a day without testing new rom, I thought the problem was that, because I found this topic, when I use the button to connect the phone, everything is well, but not always the case that with the off button. Was it any rom that did this damage in some piece of hardware?

Sorry to tell both of you but your problems are hardware related. Member isoDUB yours is most definitly a hardware issue, but it has been a little bit sense you posted that post so I hope you have got your HD2 fixed or are working on getting it fixed. Member Body yours sounds hardware related to cause if you flash another ROM and you still have the problem with your buttons then it is most definitely a hardware issue.
Best option is to send to HTC and see if you can get a new one for free if you are under warranty.
same problem
hi
im not original english speaking so please excuse my bad english.
a few days ago i got the same problem. the display doesn't work when the phone was waked up with the endcall button.
when i woke up the phone with an other button the display worked.
i sended it to htc an they just told me they will not repair it because it is not in the original contition.
i flashed it with the latest original rom from htc but they didn't tell me what is wrong in detail.
i answerd them an asked what is wrong but until now i didn't get an answer.
Hello, I have a similar problem. When you unlock the screen so we jump on the green but some spots that disappear after a while.
Disaster strikes !!! Same prob here !!!
its indeed something with the buttons ... Touch screen is dead ... but sometimes its workin!!
Three months ago ... I changed the case of the HD2 with a new one. The "old"one was full of scratches ...
I think yhat HTC is not gonna accept that ... the "void-label" on the screw is damaged...
What do you think Guys ??
Grtz
every where the htc hd2 screen problem ........... i think that every one who has the htc hd2 facing the screen problem we shopuld start the new thread where we that who has the htc hd2 without any touch screen problem
Have the same damn problem ..once the screen is locked ..its impossible to slide it to unlock ..previously it was working 50% of the time and now it doesnt work at all :-(( ..
Any suggestions ? ...I read alot on the forums and people seem to say that its digitizer related but the imp thing is to note that almost 98-99% of the people having this problem are frequent Android rom flashers ..so does Android have something to do with this and will flashing original stock rom back be the solution ??
Last night, I noticed that ROM Manager had an update in the Android market
(512mb LEO with Typhoon Cyanogenmod). I hit the update button, and walked away for a while while my phone did its thing, as usual.
I returned about 15 minutes after and noticed that my HD2 was off. I could not, however, turn it back on.
Removing and replacing the battery did not help. The phone wouldn't charge via the wall socket.
My linux PC will not detect it (I checked my dmesg log when plugging in and turning on)
I left the battery out overnight, plugged the phone into the wall, put the battery inside. No luck.
I checked the battery voltage with a multimeter, and it reads about 3.9v.
I don't think it's the battery. I think my HD2 is somehow bricked! Is there anything I can do?
It's not under warranty any more, but if I send it for repair, do you think they will deny it (because it has Android on it)?
Enlighten me with your wisdom, XDA! I don't want to say goodbye to this amazing device!

It is a little late for me to mention this, seeing as you have sent your HD2 in for repairs all ready. But your power/end button may have stopped working, if you still had the your HD2 you could try pressing the reset button by the SD card slot and see if the device booted up then. But that is not an option now.
If all you did was update ROM Manager via the Android Market. Then it should not have bricked your HD2 in any shape form or fashion. Further more it should not have caused your HD2 to turn off either. I mean when you are running NAND Android on the HD2 you are pretty safe from bricking your HD2 because both MAGLDR, cLK, and the actual Android ROM is flashed to the ROM partition of the NAND memory and never touches the real SPL bootloader partition of the HD2.
Plus did you check your battery pins before sending it in? One might have been bent slightly. Or it could have been dirty battery terminals not allowing a good connection.
Point is I very much highly doubt your HD2 was bricked. You probably just missed judged your situation is all. As far as will they fix it? If you are willing to pay the fee they charge then yes.

Hah. I don't know where you assumed that I have already sent it in. I'm the kind of person who tried to fix it myself first
Pressing the reset button doesn't do anything. I tried holding it down while inserting the battery too, and nothing,
The battery pins do not appear to be bent or dirty. I gently pushed them upright, and down, and scraped the surface gently in case there was any layers of dirt, still nothing.
I have a sibling with an HD2. I can test the batteries later.
Do you think somehow, the NAND can be worn from multiple reads/writes until it dies? It is flash memory after all, and that last write from the update could have pushed it...

Hmmm sorry I thought you had sent it in for repair already. Guess I miss read that, my bad man.
Yes NAND chips are rated for only a number of flashes. But that number is very high. I can not remember the exact numbers right now but hey that is what google is for right? But you did not flash a ROM you just uninstalled a app and then installed the updated version of that app. But then again I guess when you install or uninstall a app it is performing a some what similar action. Still though flashing a ROM is flashing a ROM, and installing a app is installing a app. One is a a lot different than the other.
My money is with your battery being bad. I mean like I said updating your ROM Manager should not have caused your HD2 to turn off at all. Try your sibling's battery and report back, I really hope that fixes it for you.
I haven't actually installed any Android ROM myself. But I did lots of WinMo ROM updates. What strikes me is that you installed a new ROM through the Android Market. Is that a normal procedure to upgrade an Android ROM on the HD2?

Hmm... I have an interesting development.
I tried my sibling's battery, and it didn't help, but what I did notice is that the phone vibrates slightly when I turn it on (as it should), but it does so very weakly. So weakly that I need to put my ear against the phone to hear it.
I don't think it's the LCD, because the charging light still doesn't work.
It probably needs a new mobo.
Any suggestions before I take it in for repair?

No, I didn't install a ROM on the market. It's an app called ROM Manager

Yeah I agree with you it sort of sounds like something in the main board has malfunctioned. My guess is the processor or the NAND chip one. I would just send it in for repair if I was you. Maybe your HD2 just finally died, I know it sucks. But if you are willing to pay for the repair then you should be back up and running in no time. I am assuming you plan to send it to HTC for repair right? If for some reason they do give you a hassle about Android being on your HD2 and will not repair it. Then contact me I might know somewhere you can get a new main board put in it.
I got my HD2 back today.
Apparently it's not worth fixing...
I also got robbed today... Just my luck.
I cannot afford any other phones atm, but what do u think would make a good candidate replacement for the future? I don't think any other phone has the same kind of mod-ability and support here at XDA, but I would be delighted if you could prove me wrong.
My friend has a Galaxy S2, which is cool, but it doesn't have notification LED :/
Is there much hacking/dev on the GS2?
Hi all, I normally don't like to post questions because i feel like the answer is somewhere online, and i almost always find it. Apparently this is one of those times i can't. Bear with me as i wanna make sure i dont leave anything out.
My problem is simply that my HD2 will not find any access points when i turn on my wifi. This started happening to me with a previous HD2 i had about a month ago for no aparent reason. I had not changed or flashed anything on my phone around the time the problem happened. I figured i would ignore the problem because i had 3g anyways but then that HD2s touch screen failed so thats why i ended up sending it in for a warranty replacement.
Now i hoped that since i had a new HD2 that the problem would be gone, i mean how could it be possible that the problem would appear on a brand new phone. So i went about doing my usual. Installed 2.08.HSPL, followed by MAGLDR, followed by MIUIAndroid.com rom, same setup i had before the problem began. I made sure the first thing i did was turn on WiFi on first boot of the phone. To my suprise, No access points found. I know it is not my router as i have connected every other device im my house to my router, including other androids and windows phones. I thought maybe its a MAGLDR/Android issue. Flashed back to WinMobile 6.5 and still no acess points. Tried every radio available and still no access points.
Bottom line is im really confused how this can be with a brand new phone. Im pretty sure its a software issue but im out of ideas.
SO please if anyone can help. Please :'-(.
Just found out this morning that it can find my access point, but only if i literally lay it on top of my router. if i go more than maybe a foot away from it then nothing.
It sounds like a hardware issue. I read about these things having issues with a connection to the antennae that can be solved by taking apart the phone and cleaning some leads.

Sounds strange that such a new phone would have a hardware issue already. at this point though, im willing to try anything. how/where exactly would i clean/find these leads?
Check this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834199 and this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190180, but be aware that opening your phone might void your waranty. Good luck
is that the only rom you have flashed? and was it nand, or sd etc...??
make sure because it could be a simple error in software as well..
something you can try and report back before opening up the phone

I first got the problem while it was still stock. then i flashed miuiandroid.com's rom with MAGLDR and still. then i went to tytungs ICS Beta4 roms and still. now im back to the miuiandroid rom. so it doesnt seem to be a rom issue.
also all the roms were nand

Hi my Friend,
your black Wifi Coaxial-Cable inside your HD2 is unpluged and not correct Connected. I had this three times at three different EU-HD2 Devices, too ( the Distance for a working WIFI Signal was 1 Feet. Normal, without Antenna ;-)). Regular the Connector at the PCM at the upper Corner fall of...
If you Still have Warrenty you have to bring this Phone to a Service. If not, you have to fix this little Problem by yourself ( you need 2 Minutes to do that ). Be Carefully when you Bring the whole HD2 inside your Backcover. You have to Tape the Vol-Rocker with a little Sticky-Tape. So this Plastic can´t fall off during the reassembling and is not to Deep to kill the Vol. Buttons...
The Opening is easy. You need only a Guitar-Plectron and t Torx-Screwdriver. Here you find Pictures:

Thanks so much to you and everyone who helped me out. Im going to see how much longer my warranty is because the only reason i would really send it back is if the touch screen fails AGAIN (happened twice already) but that wont happen for at least a year. So if warranty is gonna expire before then ill fix myself. again thank you to everyone.
