I'm having to return my gtablet because there is an issue with the sound and the battery. I bought it from someone on ebay so I can't get a replacement. I have to say apart from the sound going out for no reason whatsoever the gtablet was amazing. So fast and responsive. I played with the xoom today which I preordered from amazon. And I really love honeycomb's interface and that the buttons are on the screen but I can't say I'm at all impressed with the performance. I used the browser and it was so slow and laggy and wouldn't respond to my touches half the time. And I made sure to use the task manager to kill all other apps. Also the flash video performance was sub par compared to the gtablet.
Then I downloaded speedx 3d free and it ran no better that it does on my nexus one. Whereas on my gtablet it runs so buttery smooth at 60 fps. The xoom that I was playing with at best buy was on the newest update. I hope these r just software issues with honeycomb that get ironed out soon but I don't feel to confident for some reason. Something tells me I'm not going to see the kind of raw performance like I did with the gtablet, as nice as honeycomb is.
Where you running a custom rom on your G-tablet? That would explain its stability and speed.

Gtab runs froyo and a lower resolution. But has same processor. That explains the performance difference. HC is still new and is not optimized fully yet. At this point you're a early adopter and will deal with bugs and performance issues.

What was your opinion on the screen difference? 2.2 on a Tegra2 is like running XP on an i5.
If it's any consolation I have no problems with lag in general and SpeedX runs super. I only get a momentary delay here and there in certain apps, not worth complaining about.
I just got my Xoom on Friday and I am Very, Very impressed with the Speed and Smoothness of the device. I use Dolphin HD as my Browser and it runs just fine. No lag and pages load rather quickly (even while Wirelessly Tethered to my Rooted HTC EVO). I returned the iPad 2 I had and exchanged for the Xoom and have Zero regrets. While the iPad 2 is nice, to me it's just a blown up iPod Touch (I have a 32gb iPod Touch 3rd Gen) so I would know. The Xoom is an Amazing Tablet. I put 3 Blu-Ray movies on my Xoom already (Toy Story 3, MegaMind and Kung-Fu Panda) so the kids can watch movies while we are out and about. As far as Apps go, I have found plenty of Apps for the Xoom and they all look fine to me.

Returned it? You should have sold it -- could have easily made a hundred bucks on it, or more.

I've seen the same thing - not just in Quadrant / Nenamark but just with the naked eye. My guess is that it's either the higher resolution of the Xoom screen, or perhaps the HC Nvidia drivers are not that mature yet. Either way, the GTablet (and the Adam) seems speedier, overall.
The Xoom TFT screen is definitely better than the GTAB, however.

So let me ask a semi-evil question. You have enough money to buy either a WiFi Xoom or another G-TAB. Which would you get?
Add one more condition, whatever I get I will be "handing down" to someone in November as I plan to get a KalEl tablet when those come out about then (KalEl being the quad-core Tegra that nVidia has begun demoing)?
Thanks in advance!

Other than multi-tasking will the Quad core run any better than the Duo?
I have read that there is little difference between the i5 and i7 except for apps that specifically talk to the extra cores!

If those were the only two options, then a Xoom hands down. It's got a lot of problems (ie. missing microSD support, speed lag at the moment etc.) but it has a MUCH better screen and that is absolutely critical to me.
The reason why I write "the only options" is that I might consider a Tegra 2 IPS device, when they get released. Whenever that happens (maybe in a month?). As for KalEl, that's in the late summer / fall so it's really not on the radar, yet.
I think the Xoom Wifi $600 (or less?) option should be a decent product, especially once they shake out the bugs in Honeycomb.

I Think the Quad is supposed to be 5x Faster than the Dual. and that the GPU has 16 cores or somin. The Newer Tegra Nvidia chips Blow away the last.
You should have really not use task manager and kill apps. Because most of them will restart after being killed. So all the apps start at once will cause the gpu generates lots of power and the os may get unresponsive and laggy. So get rid of that damn task manager.

Java programs will immediately take advantage of all 4 cores since Java is naturally multithreaded.
Until these benchmarking apps are updated to take advantage of OpenGL 2.0 you're not going to see high scores on any Honeycomb tablet.
Well, I had considered the iPad 2, but I am trying to get away from supporting iOS at home. Particularly as ugly as the upgrade for the original iPad to the latest update went.
I would like to get something now since I believe the Tegra 2 IPS tablets you're referring to are likely to be more of a July timeframe, and will likely be quickly passed over by the KalEl chips.
For the person asking if the additional cores will make much difference - the current Tegra 2 is most comparable to an Intel Atom. And the programs and video performance on these tablets pretty much match that.
The KalEl is supposed to actually exceed Core 2 Duo speeds and capabilities. So in that sense we are talking about going from essentially a netbook to essentially a notebook in terms of performance. Heck that is why there are rumors of an iPad 3 in that same timeframe. Because once that generation of chips come out it is going to be a very open question whether you need anything more than a tablet and a bluetooth keyboard for anything that requires less than a true desktop experience.
My .02 worth of course
how much do you think these newer tablets will cost? same 600 dollar price range? I'd probably want to sell my wifi xoom and then buy a newer model rather than wait that long.

If you're talking the KalEl equipped tablets, I presume they will be in about the same range, with the current tablets discounted a little similar to what Apple did with the first generation iPads. That said, I expect there to be just limited availability over the holiday season with probably only one or two manufacturers shipping by Thanksgiving.
Of course there are already some component shortages due to the Japanese earthquake. One area where Apple has an advantage since they have pre-ourchased a lot of their supplies. So while they may get them later than planned, they usually are assured of getting them first, and at a fixed cost.
FWIW...
Always take your experience with a display model with a grain of salt. Unlike the fresh G tab that you unboxed yourself and handled/tweaked with care, the display Xoom has gone through hours upon hours of goobers and children wailing away at it, changing default settings, etc.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. Some parts of Dalvik (android's version of java), like the garbage collector, will take advantage of multiple cores. Android as an OS uses tons of threads, and will get snappier with more cores... but Android was written to explicitly use multiple threads.
What I'm saying is that apps won't use multiple cores unless the programmer DESIGNS them that way.
I bought another tablet from this seller awhile ago (see the review here) and when I wanted to order another one for my wife, I was told they were out but getting a new, and improved model. They emailed and let me place the order of off the old link and the new tablet I just got is AWESOME!!! My wife is getting the old one - lol.
Android 4.0.3, pre-rooted, aluminum case, screen you can view from pretty much any angle, 8gb storage, 512mb RAM, mini HDMI out, charges via USB and the included proprietary charger (USB is a bit slower, but works. This is huge for me so I can use it with one of the many external portable battery chargers I have), USB host cable included (works perfectly with my Oyen 750gb portable hard drive). This thing is the sh!t!!
Installed the patched hulu and netflix apps from XDA and both work great! Overclocks to 1.4GHz no prob (faster will crash it) UPDATE: seems 1.2 is the most stable speed, but it's still the best bang for the buck I've found. I have a few tablets (xoom, coby, and a few other generic tablets) and this one is my new favorite.
Here's the link to the listing for the new tablet (I told them I would pass it on and they gave me $5 back - great company): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TQP7L0/ref=sc_pgp__m_A76FR6O1NBAXV_1?ie=UTF8&m=A76FR6O1NBAXV&n=&s=&v=glance

Not bad, but a pretty low res screen for a tablet 800x480. Besides for that the rest of the hardware isnt bad for that price, has decent expandability options and comes pre rooted.
How can the response times be any slower on the touchpad then this and after a few more updates to ics its gonna prob fix those.
I just think the advantages the touchpad has from the gig of ram to the screen size and resolution make it worth the extra 30 bucks lol
Plus it has another 8 gigs of storage

It was slow because I was holding it flat, facing up towards the camera. It's super snappy when holding it in front of you in a normal position. Almost flat on it's back isn't the best way to get the screen rotation to respond...

Games look awesome on this & have yet to have any issues.
I'm currently playing FF3 & ME:I. I had to use a TiBU of ME:I to install though. Sadly, if you're a gamer, be smart & spend that extra $50 for the 16GB model. You won't regret it at all.
You have to be space conscious with a 8GB especially when you have to factor in your nandroids.

Onlive works really nicely on my Transformer Prime, so no reason it should be any different for the Nexus
I assume using the Onlive bluetooth controller will be fine?
although there are very few that have the nexus 7 right now, I'm wondering if those who have any kind of tablet have ever tried restoring a titanium backup of a game from their phone to a tablet. Is the apk vastly different due to screen size, or does it "adjust" itself for running on a tablet? It's not a deal breaker for me cuz I'm probably going to play tegra 3 games on the n7 but it would be nice to restore my mc3 or my mass effect which I currently have backed up on my EVO 4g LTE.

I have the Universal Controller and it works on my (now sold) Galaxy Table with Android 3.0 (HoneyComb). It also works on my friend's Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0 (ICS), so theoretically it should work with 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
I've already bought Dead Trigger and have a list of Indie games to buy from the Play Store with my $25 credit as soon as my N7 arrives. I can't see how this tablet will be anything less than stellar running top games.

As good as any other device I suppose :3 everything on android can be played well on a galaxy nexus let alone the note.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
There are some games that are not compatible with the Exynos processor. So those games that require Tegra tech, are not playable on the Note, unless you install a patch, but I heard few reports of that patch bricking some tablets.
However, beside those, the Note 10.1 has all power you can pretty much get with $500 with android installed on it. So having the best of the best should mean that you should be able to run the compatible games like butter. It does get a lil warm after extended gaming tho. The tablet has some extremely good battery life, however, I notice that when playing the battery goes to hell pretty quick (like 3 or 4 hrs); graphics on big screen has some toll on the battery I guess.

hmmm , and are these tegra requiring games too many ?!
i mean, how much is the percentage of tegra only games ?
i beleive th note has mali 400 graphics like the note 2 compared to GPUs like the tegra 3 on nexus 7. So far i havent done much gaming on it other than 3d scores on quadrant(yeah yeah i know
you can check tegra zone for the game list but half of those are not even THD anymore ^_^v
I haven't come across act games that don't work with exynos ( I own ALOT of games) only ones would be tegra exclusives which there isn't many of those. Tbh if you want the best gaming machine get a tegra or the nexus 10, the n10 has more horsepower and now that throttling issues have mostly been resolved it has a higher resolution screen good for games.
Also I don't think you need an adapter for HDMI out, I think it uses micro HDMI

i just mean playing any new more demanding games , i don't really know a lot of names now cuz i still didn't buy the thing but let's say modern combat 4 , need for speed most wanted and things like that
i'm just trying to compare the gaming on it to ipad 4 , yes i know that ipad games look a lot better , but i just need them to look good cuz everybody is telling me that customization in android is a lot cooler than the ios stability
I offer you to buy nexus 7 or ipad3 or 4(128gb is awesome) ,why? As all friends said most android devices are the same but with different progressor & each of them can't run other progressor games,
Why ipad?
-ipad isn't like this & can run all high-end games with maximum effects & graphics (for example runs dead trigger with water effect which only tegra devices can show this feature)
-Games release before android (like Real Racing 3 ,it's released a month ago for ios but its not still available at Google market)
-700,000 games & apps(android have 700,000 apps but it include Widgets, launchers, live wallpapers, lockers, themes, etc,...)
-all ios apps & games are tested by apple before uploading appStore, so no broken apps & viruses
-awesome battery life, 11,000mAh battery (more than 10 hour gaming with just one charging)
-perfect support (ex. IPhone 3gs gets ios6 update)
Choose the best & don't waste you money for note, buy 1 time buy the good 1

He may want more than what the iPad can offer though. Also not every version of the iPhone will get the full update so support isn't perfect. As for virus or malware, Apple devices aren't impervious and the rate of infection on android Is grossly over exaggerated. Also not all I devices run Max effects, in fact most can't except the ipad2 and iphone4s.
The only processor that can't run the others as u say is tegra vs everyone else and it's not lack of ability that's the problem it's nvidia paying for exclusive content. Games released first is valid but every other point was uninformed FUD which I kindly ask you don't spread around these forums. Think about the fact that you're posting in a forum where there are people who ACTUALLY know what they are talking about.
Edit: Just one of many articles to prove my point on malware threat on both platforms

Why I asked this is that I think any real "hardcore gamer" would not purchase a tablet of any brand to play games.
Hardcore gamer's have computers that they put many thousands of dollars into, they uses 2 or more monitors, 3 or more video cards, massive water cooler systems that are overclocked, they run gigabit modems, laser mice and special keyboards...... So.... my answer should have be NO.
^^ i know what a hardcore gamer is , and fyi , what u just talked about is a hardcore gamer with a ****load of money , there are hardcore gamers with less money like me that play on consoles (i have an x360) , but again i was talking only about the more demanding android games and got a wrong word , english aint my first lang man

Come on,Let's just be honest
You're telling me android is better because you are an android user !
I'm talking about ipad3/4 & comparing to note 10 & NOT GALAXY TAB OR OUT-DATED DEVICE (like you comparing ipad 2 with high-end devices )(all HD effects are shown on ipad3,4 & I don't know about ipad2,never testedon )
Security is something that user will feel it when playing, browsing,etc...
All of us know that if you don't jailbreak your i-device it's the most secure operating system all around the world.hackers were working on ios6 jailbreak for about 2 months & this shows how secure is ios6. (As I said apps before uploading to appStore will be fully tested )
(((Cracked apps are absolutely a serious source of malware & I don't know you heard about the new method of installing cracked apps on ios without jailbreak, that's a negative point for ios user but if they download from store there will be no problem)))
It's his choice & I'm not forcing him to buy a beast!
Benchmarks are helpful at this moment (if you say note is more powerful in tests {not only CPU, all tests})
But if he is in love with s-pen we can't do anything about that, Ipad comes with huge range of accessories but it doesn't support a s-pen style captive pen(or I didnt seen that, maybe exists)
I still say Ipad & nothing can change my mind   trying both tablets is recommended, judge by your self
Sorry for English, it's not my mother language

If you read I didn't say even once android is better, not once. I also didn't mention a single outdated device, galaxy tab or otherwise. Also iPad 3&4 don't have all effects enabled as they can't at their resolution. ONLY the iPad 2 and iphone4s/5 do (nova3 looks 800x better on the iPad 2), all others prior can't handle full effects in all games, leaving the iPad 2 which at it's resolution has resources to spare the iOS gamers tab of choice. IOS is not the most secure, that is 1000% false, and it has malware just the same regardless of jailbreaking or not. Jailbreaking taking 2 months is a short period of time and in no way substantiates iOS security. Security is a state of mind for the user, you won't feel it ever during use because it isn't possible to "feel" system security. In fact both android and iOS are worse than blackberry in regards to security from my experience so by that logic that OS is the best. Googles apps store tests apps also, you just have less time between submitting the app and approval, malware rates on the play store are very low and when they do get on are removed quickly. 3rd party stores and sites are the main sources of malware on both platforms. I don't believe in one being better or worse, they're all just different. I really don't care what you pick but don't state opinion as fact because it isn't. you stated a opinion/view, one steming from inexperience and lack of knowledge, which is fine but again don't say anything you said is fact because it isn't.

The note will play everything just fine, but unless you want the spen there are better options like tegra3 or the nexus 10 if you can find a way to get one on eBay or something. So my advice is unless you want the spen, go w with something like the nexus 7 or 10, or whichever tegra3 or higher based devices you can get in your country.

Damn jay-z-s... this is the worst place for an IPad lover to make a point... (there is no point to be made anyway, lol) I am in the IT Business and I can tell you something... There is NOT a SINGLE person that I know... NOT even 1... That still thinks IPads are better than Android devices... if, if... the person tasted both devices. I can say that 99% of people (just for not saying a 100%) after using a device like a Note 2, Note 10.1... or S3... will go back to an IPhone or IPad. You just get in your hands an IPhone 5 and in your other hand a Note 2... and there is simply no comparison just by looking at it. You don't even have to do anything... don't even waste time turning them on, just look at them both for 10 seconds... and baaam... that's it. Market share for the IOS is going down at top speed, while Android's market keeps going up and up... Apple is going to have to wake up and start adding Micro SD card slots and do something really impressive with the ipads and iphones... because it will end up very bad for them... At least Microsoft now supports a full OS on their tablets... that's at least something to keep them on the market for more time... Not to be rude, but IOS in my opinion is simply a retard OS that you can just do pretty much nothing with it... With Android you can install another ROM... wow... another launcher, wow... widgets... wow... very, very customizable. With IOS... Hey... New version x.x.1... wow.... more locks! Less options! weeeeee! finally changed the settings icon after a week! Is that even possible? lol
okey thanks guys !
i'll go with the note for a few reasons
1.nexus 10 isn't available here and getting it from ebay i will pay a lot more than the price for the shipment and things like that
2.i want a 10" tablet so the nexus 7 won't be good for me cuz i want to watch movies and read stuff on a big screen
3.the s-pen and stereo speakers on the note look cool !!
so thanks again guys (Y)
A brilliant game, awesome graphics and great gameplay! You must play this if you have a note 2
How to get this?
Search for it on google play store.
I agree, great game
This game is ruined by how unbalanced it is to play, read some reviews. You need to spend a lot of real world money to get anywhere as it relies on a lot of in-app purchases.
Yupe in app purchasing just ruins the game, but then again most free games do come with a catch.
Sent from the rabbit hole.
Does this sync up with the iOS version so any purchases made and progress made carry across? Thankyou.

Game is nice ... but unfortunately most game features are baid :crying:.
I've been playing this for quite some time now and yes, you do have in-app purchases. It's totally optional as to what you'd like to spend. But either ways, come on guys....this is console quality graphics for your handheld with multi million dollar budgets spent on development - of course they expect to make some money back! But you do have the option if you want to spend or not If you dont think the game is worth spending, then dont! But trust me guys, with RR3....it's so damn justified!
Give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose
Nfs mw the best racing game xD

I hate to spoil the party, but when I play on the note 2, it immediately becomes apparent how much better the ios version is on a retina device. The graphics look TERRIBLE on the Note 2 and absolutely stunning on my ipad.

720p phone GPU vs a 1500p iPad with a tri or quadcore powerVR GPU. Not exactly fair game.

The real problem is: Developers simple made it nicer on Apple devices. Simple fact.
I know it might sound strange for some, but that's the truth.
The current SOC of the Note 2 would be able to run this game equal to the IOS counterpart, but developers did not bother to adjust/polish/optimize the game for the top android devices.
That's very common these days

when you said android devices, did you know how many are they? and when you said apple devices, how many are they? so it is easy to develop a perfect game for apple(dont need for me to explain more)

total agree with what u saying, ive been playing it for 3 days now and its incredible to be honest, some of the cars are expensive and so far ive had to redo races to get more R$ to buy a car . . but hey . . . its kept me interested, i think the only downside to this game is the fact that i dont think you can just have a proper season of racing like 16 races over X amount of laps for points etc etc . . and also you cant actually race against friends in real time multiplayer . . but other than that is brilliant! 8/10
