Do you have Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 International with Multi-CSC? Have you installed another stock ROM for another region and met thereafter a problem that Kies is no more supporting firmware update?
Here is a comprehensive guide on how to change your stock ROM of region "X" to a stock ROM of region "Y".
Samsung has put CSC codes to meet certain regions where each firmware file is made for that specific region, where it refers to basic configurations and carrier settings. Your device comes with a specific CSC for your region. If you install another ROM file signed for another CSC, you might face a problem.
Here is the solution.
DISCLAIMER: THIS METHOD HAS BEEN APPLIED UPON OWN RISK, SELF EXPERIENCE AND DIFFERENT TRIAL AND ERROR BASIS, WITH REFERENCE TO VARIOUS WEBSITES. THE METHOD WILL WIPE YOUR DATA. BE CAREFUL, AND TAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU APPLY. YES, BE CAREFUL, IT WILL WIPE YOUR DATA! APPLY UPON YOUR OWN RISK.
1- Download any firmware file from www.sammobile.com for Samsung Galaxy S III. For example, download the one for UAE (United Arab Emirates) with its CSC being "XSG".
2- Open your dial pad, and type "*#06#" to check for your IMEI code. Write down the IMEI. (Or simply bring your Galaxy S III box and take the IMEI from there).
3- In the dial pad, dial "*#272*YOUR_DEVICE_IMEI#".
4- A window will appear showing your current CSC, and has a list of various available CSCs to different regions.
5- Choose "XSG" from the list to meet the one of the ROM you downloaded.

Now, flash your ROM using the classical Odin3 method (Search the forum for how to flash).

Having the fact I went into a boot loop does not mean the method is bad or waste of time. It is hardware failure of my device. Period.
Period your how to post is poor and a bad repetition of stuff already sticked period .

Period
I figured that out later. Anyways, don't you have any idea how to fix my problem?
Also want to add that JJE is right, there is a thread with akl this information in.
Plus on the Stock Firmware Rom thread there is a Step by Step guide on how to flash it to your device.
And finally, having an attitude towards somebody who has commented on your thread isnt a good way to get other users commenting. Other users will cone across this thread, see your attitude towards another commenting user, and will go else where so they dont get spoken to in the same manner.
Not having a go Im just suggesting a different approach towards users may be better off.

Upgrading firmware can be a daunting experience for beginners like me, with the fear of producing a "brick" always present. Fortunately, I was helped by the following excellent thread by a member (dr.ketan). The thread shows how to download of the desired LA4 ROM and the Odin program and how to do the upgrade..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Notice that the thread also provided a password (samfirmware.com) which is needed to unzip the LA4 ROM. Also note that in order to unzip the LA4 ROM you need to use 7-zip and not Winzip available from the following link:
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
I have just successfully upgraded from the UK ROM (KK5) to the German ROM (LA4) so that I no longer need to keep checking on the Note for the UK ROM update. I've seen the new keyboard with the number row at the top which can be docked to the left or right side of the screen.
So thanks once again (I did hit his thanks button) to dr.ketan for your excellent thread.

Did you update your CSC code or did you have to factory reset at any point? I'm using a XEN Note and still on KK5 as well. I need to avoid a factory reset or wipe ROM since I have an app (Good) that's a pain to get re-authorized if I have to re-install it.

If you follow the update thread you will see there is no mention of CSC code. There was no factory reset and my Note looks unchanged except for the LA4 additions. I'm hoping that now I'm using the German ROM that I receive updates sooner.
By following these steps, did you:
1) loose root ?
2) loose adhoc network support (wpa_supplicant file changes) ?
Thanks Gaugerer. Could you please tell which options did you select in Odin? And which files should be selected in bootloader, pit, phone, csc, dump ? I am downloading LA4 rom with check fus downloader, so I would get the same files. Thanks again.

I wasn't rooted, but I understand that the update does lose root and I don't know about losing the adhoc network support.

If you use the guide by dr.ketan then it explains what to do if you get one file or three files after you unzip the LA4 ROM. I unzipped the German LA4 ROM and only got one file. I did not use the fus downloader but just the dr.ketan procedure.
And what's you experience in terms of battery life and speed?

I also updated my device to LA4 following the instructions on the same thread as mentioned above.
just wanted to tell you that now you can change your CSC to germany (DBT) as well in order to get all future OTA updates for the german region.
in order to do so dial *#272*IMEI#
you will be given a CSC list, choose DBT.
note that this will factory reset you device, so a backup is adviced.
it wont delete you pics, songs, videos etc,
but it will reset the accounts and settings etc.
hope it helps

Word of warning!
Word of warning ! for those who try to root thei galaxy note having this ROM what i just did , almost bricked the phone I followed Dr Ketan's guide to get root access when I flashed via 1,85 odin the file that was provided in guide, when the phone rebooted I got the message that google calendar is not accessible and something about google too, then when I try sing up with a google account when I was trying to type letters I was getting "null" word for each leter numbers were not affected, then I gave up and flashed GB with multiple CSC choice and now installing again the german version, no root yet !
If you have the "null" bug, it means your CSC is not set correctly.
If you had done a quick search you would have found plenty threads documenting this.
The easy fix is to use the dialer to access the CSC settings and set the CSC yourself.

Please remove warning, this is common issue. It may create unnecessary hype. Your device is not bricked.
If you hav posted it before doing anything it may solved it in just 5min.
If you find null anytime, just flash csc.with odin n use same rom as you used.for pda. Leave all pit, repartition, pda, phone field empty.
This is issue is not related to root.
This is due to wrong csc.

Hi,
i got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with Android 4.3 currently installed.
I would like to update it to 4.4.2 but i have several questions before i want to take the risk of updating the device.
As a german user i downloaded this firmware file from sammobile.com:
N9005XXUENB4_N9005DBTENB1_N9005XXUENB1_HOME.tar.md5
This should be the german unbranded 4.4.2 firmware file for the Note 3 N9005.
After reading a few tutorials i saw some people who have problems while flashing this Firmware, because of that i hope you can help me here.
First question:
In Odin i can select the "Phone Bootloader Update", some people are saying i have to select this or the device or it won't work properly after the flash.
Do i have to select this and what happens when i do it?
Second question:
A lot of people also have problems while flashing this firmware because of a missing .pit file (-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2664461)
So do I have to select an .pit file or not?
I really, really hope you can help me with that because Google couldn't help me at all so far.

I am actually trying to do the very same thing
The thing is: if you didn't already get an update OTA / via kies (since samsung rolled out kitkat in germany a few days ago) chances are, you are not having a german phone, like myself.
so please enter *#1234# into the dialer app and post the results
also, it would be nice to know your country/product code: if you happen to have the box the phone came in, check the label where your imei and gsm frequencies are mentioned.
There, you'll find a string like "SM-N9005ZKEROM" which (in my case) means a black note 3 from romania
or hook it up with kies and tell the last three characters between the brackets in your firmware version
to your first question: uncheck it. AFAIK, if it is set, the firmware will flash a new bootloader onto your device, and in most cases you don't want that, it could mess your phone up badly. correct me if i'm wrong.
Back to the rom, which also addresses you 2nd question:
The actual problem with simply flashing the DBT rom is that the EU devices happen to be partitioned differently from the german ones, so odin will fail if you have a device with an uncompatible CSC/Product code (e.g. an east-european device), which in turn may or may not trigger knox and/or void your warranty.
i currently try to get more information on that topic.
nevertheless, pocketpc.ch provides a tutorial which mentions flashing DBT firmware along with a custom pit file, which may or may not void your warranty, but doesn't seem to trigger knox (pm me for a link or google it yourself: "Flashen der DBT-FW auf EU-Geräte")
Thank you very much for your detailed answer, as far as i know i will receive the device tomorrow. (Amazon DE order)
I will post the details as soon as i have access to them!
Hey All,
I got a Note 3 N9005, which supposedly was purchased in UAE.
Currently trying to use it in India, but, the device always says "No Service", with a crossed circle instead of network signal icon on notification bar.
Phone is on 4.2.2 with UGNH1. Below are some observations:
- Phone does NOT ask for any PIN / Unlock Code.
- In Settings > Status.. irrespective of any SIM, or no SIM.. Mobile Network Type = Unknown, Service State= Out of service, Mobile Network State=Disconnected.
- Orig CSC code is displayed as XTC from Phone Info App
- Tried to select a different CSC from CSC Select app.. it changed the boot logo but, network status.. still crossed circle
- IMEI is proper as printed below the battery
- Still i tried ChainFire's RegionLockAway. But, as expected, the method is only for MI7 / MJ1 / MJ3 JB versions. Sadly mine has already crossed and has A2 bootloader. So, no change was observed with CF RegionLockAway. Reverted the cahnges.
- Tried to flash MJ1 / MJ3 binaries from sammobile. As expected the latest bootloader won't allow to downgrade.
- Flashed Omega, but for no luck. Still no service and crossed circle icon.
- Flashed latest CyanogenMod. Though there was no Crossed Circle icon, there was an icon of network signal with zero network.
- Flashed official Lollipop verson to see if any changes.. no luck. Reverted back.
- Installed advanced network info app, network status, neighboring MSC, cells.. etc was shown as none.
No clue how to enable the device's network capabilities (all else like WiFi and other feature work as usual).
It will be a great help if you can guide me through! Please let me know if any other info is required.
Thanks a lot in advance. !!
Purchased in UAE doesn't necessarily it was a UAE phone. Phone Info Samsung from Play Store can tell you where it is from.
What I would do is...
Download the firmware from Sammobile to suit your phone. One fairly common issue is that Hong Kong or Chinese phones get sold into Europe or other markets and their PIT and other partitions are different. So first thing is to go back to scratch.
If you phone IS from where you think, make sure you have the stock firmware for that location and flash the latest version using Odin and Download mode.
Start Odin - v3.09 is best.
To enter DL mode for anything to do with BL or Modem you MUST turn phone off. It is best to remove the battery and wait a while, then put it in and use the Power On+Vol-Down+Home key to get into DL mode, then [plug phone into PC and wait for Odin to notice it is there.
(if Odin doesn't notice it, get the latest Samsung USB drivers for the phone and install them with phone unplugged, then plug in phone and Windows should give a pop-up)
Click on AP in Odin and navigate to where you saved the firmware - note you DL'd a zip but you need the md5 file so use 7zip to unpack the zip.
Click on the md5 file and wait for it to load into Odin.
* [Auto Reboot] and [F.Reset Time] should be the ONLY things ticked.
Click [Start] and wait.
Let phone restart and set it up with your details. Once done see if you have network.

Thanks Journyman16 for the quickreply.
I installed the "Phone Info Samsung" app as you mentioned and found the phone's CSC code is XTC! (= Philippines (Open Line))!!
Thanks for the hint. I will download the latest firmware from sammobile for n98005 for XTC and check. Will be back with updates in some time.

Update:
Flashed below 3 stock firmwares from sammobile, each time cleared cache and factory wipe.. still the crossed circle is hopelessly adamant and persistent.
4.4.2 N9005XXUGNH1
4.4.2 N9005XXUGNI4
4.3 N9005XXUDMJ7 (failed to flash, i guess due to current bootloader version A3)
I tried with Odin 3.09.3 & 3.10.6 & 3.07 .... same result.
Any suggestions? please share.. I'm ok to soft brick the phone Recovered from boot loop few times

Tried a different sim card ??

They are old stock ROMs - how sure are you the phone wasn't updated to the new version of BL? I'm not sure if you're on the new version and then try to downgrade it, which version you will see in Phone Info but check it. There's also a phone # code to use that returns the basics for the phone, but I can't recall if you said you get calls or not and I'm heading for bed. Think the code is something like *#12334#* - google for secret smartphone codes.

Yea Journyman16, they seem to be still good old of 4.4.2. Latest must be 5.0. On samobile, for XTC i could see only till 4.4.2. Maybe for this phone version, there are no updates? Not sure.
And, yes, sadly BL is updated to A3. Which I could see in Recovery mode's REV line. (if it was A1, I could have flashed MI7 and tried RegionLockAway.. )

I'd upgrade rather than try to get around the downgrade issues. What Region do you WANT to have? European ones seem to get early release of upgrades - e.g. many LP ROMs are based around the Polish release.
I don't know enough to interpret logs, but my thought would be to find a non-Philippines version (one of the Europe ones perhaps) and find a PIT file for that one. Then go read up on how to safely flash a new PIT. Then flash your preferred firmware and follow the root process etc.
I started with a HK version of S3 - every time I tried to flash a new ROM it failed and bricked my phone. Eventually I found that the PIT file on most Asian phones was different and I flashed PIT, then stock FW for the region I wanted then re-rooted and flashed the custom ROM.
Read many time, flash once, OK? I do not make bricks, nor need them, so I will not accept them delivered to my door...

There's a Euro PIT on the link at This Post - I checked and the dropbox is still valid. It's 4.4.2 so could be just what you need.
Now you probably want an India ROM but I haven't any links for that 0 there's a thread for India users though I think.
What I think might be happening is that different countries use different frequencies and formats for signal. It might be that India's set up simply doesn't work with the modem you've been using and the India ROM will not set up with the Asian PIT set up etc.
But read up on the process first, OK? The more you know about it the better chance you have to recover from anything going wrong.
Also, I presume from your OP that the phone NEVER worked once you got it? Do you know for a fact it worked prior to that? Maybe you're chasing solutions for a faulty hardware issue?

Hi Journyman16, thanks for the suggestions.. i tried the pit file you referred, but, still no luck. And, if i'm not wrong pit file is all about allocating ROM space for /system & /dbdata and has nothing to deal with the antenna/telephony module, please correct if i'm not right.
About the phone's status yea you're right. It never worked after i received it. But, it was working usually in UAE, as per the info i got. Maybe.. as you suspected.. it might be faulty hardware too.. I don't know.. just exploring the options.. to conclude something..

The only unbranded NH1's seem to be Greece or Netherlands. Netherlands has a 5.0 - maybe DL that and flash in Odin? Greece has a v5.0 but it's branded with (EUR) so I don't know if that's a company or general... I'd go the Netherlands one.
Other than that, I'm not sure - might be time to get the phone checked properly?
Finally.. could trace the root cause.. antenna / receiver chip malfunction. So, it was an hardware issue that had to be replaced at a cost at service center.
Summary: If network icon is crossed circle, its not a good sign !! Thanks

the supplier may have gotten from UAE but the csc may not be from there.
you can try downloading the Rom from samfirmware and flashing that way.
Thanx for the reply guys, how can I find out the CSC on the phone? Also if I flash with odin, Will that erase all the data on the phone? And will it trip the knox?
Why is it that the update doesn't work? How come the software on my phone doesn't match the update it's downloading? Is it something the supplier/seller has done to the phone? Like modify the software?
Thanx guys
Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and you get all necessary information.
If you flash with Odin Know won't be triggered. You can keep your data with the three following requirements:
- The firmware you flash must have the CSC included you use at the moment.
- You need to use HOME_CSC file instead of CSC file.
- You may not tick re-partition.
Keep in mind to only flash firmwares designed for the Exynos variant.
Sellers on Amazon sometimes get phones from a different market and flash then a firmware fitting your market. This is rather a replacement than a modification (since the whole system is still official) and Knox is not triggered. However, one effect is that OTA may not work or gives "phantom" update notices. There's no restriction aside of that and you can just use Odin to remain updated.
You can post screens from all pages of the app I mentioned and we can see what's going on.
