Got the recovery from the website of TWRP

Why don't you just post link to original thread?
I, for my part, would not just flash a "recovery.zip" from an unknown source to my device. You could very well brick your device that way.

Okay thanks

Wish i had seen this two days ago. My FFF and TWRP were so far out of date it was easier just reinstalling with KFU.
On the bright side, GooManager is working now.

If you use KFU to root, what version of TWRP does it download and install? Just curious because its been so long!

I am fairly certain it grabs the newest version available. I do not have my Kindle with me at work today, but I will check the version when I get home
---------- Post added at 10:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 AM ----------
As an aside, when I was trying to update TWRP all the files I found were .img formats and it would seem TWRP was looking for .zip files. Can you just create a .zip from an image and load it or is it a bit more involved? Looking in the zips I did find it seemed like they had some META packages in there and I didn't want to brick it. That is why I ended up doing it through KFU.
When I originally rooted it was about a year ago and everything was far out of date (TWRP was at like 2.0.0.x and FFF was out there as well). Being able to use GooManager for updating was the main reason I updated. Seems a much easier way to keep the system update.

I stand corrected. The version of TWRP is v2.2.2.1

Last time I checked kfu was still downloading the older version you can also dry run it without the kindle attached to see which one it downloads. Just delete the twrp.img in the recovery folder of kfu and read what happens in the terminal when you select the option for twrp install.

Help trying to get back into custom recovery

I did research for this for a couple of hours but didn't find anything too helpful besides flashing back to stock. I also saw I could install the TWRP img file by the command line but that makes me a little nervous for the brick warnings posted.
I have the Goldeneye rom on my phone and I had TWRP 2.5.0.2 and everything was working great. I also updated the Modem to the MF3 one. I flashed TWRP up to 2.6 and loki-doki and everything seemed to go OK until I rebooted the phone.
I rebooted the phone and got the error of System software not authorized by ATT has been found on your phone and the SECURE FAIL: KERNEL message at the top.
I am now unable to boot into recovery with the buttons or using the reboot menu from the Goldeneye rom. Every time I try to reboot it goes to the error message above.
Now I am able to have the phone boot up fully if I go into download mode and then press the volume down key to cancel/restart the phone and then it will boot up with out issue. Any time I reboot though with out going into download mode I get the secure kernel error.
Is there a way to recover the device without going through ODIN and reflashing it back to stock? Also, my baseband shows MF3 now since I flashed the modem, is that going to cause any issues?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Can you try reinstalling the twrp recovery through goomanager when you get it to boot.. Then retrying to get into recovery?

Why not Odin
I haven't looked for awhile, but if you example of command to put recovery on phone by adb, try it. If you have the command line from a dev thread then just copy/paste the line. No chance of typing error. Still double check all. And any bu's you can do prior, do them and put copy on pc. Know you can't nandroid, but maybe MyBackUp Pro.
I was hoping there was something I could do to retain the setup on the phone how it is.
I'll push the twrp file using the command line and if that doesn't work I will flash with odin

[Q] Android 4.4 OTA fails on Status 7 system bin debuggerd

I am currently running Nexus 7 (2012) Wifi Android 4.3 Build JWR66Y rooted with CWM and stick mount but when I try to update Android 4.4 OTA it fails on status 7 system bin debuggered. As I was able to just run the Android 4.3 OTA when I upgraded from Android 4.2.2 without any problems this Android 4.4 update is certainly very frustrating. Since I am still a newbie at this could you please provide a step by step of how to get this to work using NRT? Do you have to unroot before installing the update and then reinstall all your apps after? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
KodachromeBob
I'm in the same boat. Trying not to have to start from scratch so I really prefer to run the update instead of flashing the entire device. Vague recollection was that debuggerd gets replaced by stickmount but I tried reverting to the backup file that I had and it still gave me the same (Status 7) error.
I think we just have to find the correct version of debuggerd and overwrite it, then sideload. Let me know if you make any progress.
If I remember correctly you have to be completely stock. If you changed anything the update will not work.

It's only aborting on that one file as far as I can tell. Would love to get an original copy and just overwrite the one that's on my Nexus 7 to try if it would work.
Is there a way to get back to stock but not lose all the installed apps and data? I don't mind not using the update file, I just do not want to go through the hassle of setting everything back up (reloading apps, wifi, etc.) again.

No, I just recall having to change the debuggerd file to get stickmount to work. I don't remember the details exactly (it was a long time ago) but I'm pretty sure that is all it was.

No worries. I just found another post (sucks that search is down) that says that if we just flash the boot, system, and bootload img files from KK that it should update without deleting programs or data... I think I'll give that a try.
---------- Post added at 02:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:10 PM ----------
Apparently I flashed in the incorrect order and just flashed boot and system. Nexus 7 appears to have booted up and my apps/data are still present. About screen shows
Android: 4.4
Kernel version: 3.1.10-gee1a0b2
Build: KRT16S
Do I still need to flash bootloader?

The method of flashing boot, bootloader, and system img seems to have worked. Might want to give that a shot if no one uploads the proper debuggerd file. Best of luck!

Yes, just download the 4.4 image from google here:
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/nakasi-krt16s-factory-da7dee49.tgz
Unzip it until you can pull out the 3 image files I mentioned above. Then use NRT to Flash the files one at a time. You should be good to go. (fingers crossed)
Yesterday my nexus downloaded the update and asked me to press 'ok' to shut down tablet and install.
Just like after every system update the following happend:
Nexus turns off
... thats it, it simply turns off and nothing happens! Device is 2 weeks old now and i am thinking of returning it.
I'm on 4.3 and system tells me that there is no update available...
Nexus 7 2013 sucks!

Yes, you have to unzip the .tgz file, then unzip the .tar file to get the folder with the image files. 7zip works great. If you are on the stock rom/kernel rooted with a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) you can fastboot flash on both the system.img and boot.img. Those are the only ones you need. It doesn't look for file verifications in system, it just puts the latest system image there. Flash the latest supersu in custom recovery and you get back root.
Successfully Updated to KRT16S
Could not have done it without the help of Wayno-san. I flashed Boot, Boot Loader and System images with NRT and voila a successful update to KRT16S. I had to ROOT again and reinstall Busy Box but that was not a problem. Thanks again Wayno--san for all your support.

You're welcome Sir!
Can anyone send me the JWR66Y debuggerd?
I'm also stuck trying to update to 4.4 and I'm hoping to avoid reflashing back to the stock /system. I've reverted all of the system files I touched so it's only debuggerd that's holding up the update. Thanks!
--
kcc
I also had to update manually because of Status 7 update in CWM during OTA flash. Slight inconvenience yes, but nothing major as I didn't flash "Data" via Fastboot command. Had all my apps retained in the next boot
Missing ART though. I don't really want to flash a custom ROM for it.
Anyone willing to send me the KRT16S debuggerd?
If no one has the JWR66Y version, I can just edit the install script to not check (and not patch) debuggerd, then load the KRT16S debuggerd after the update completes. Thanks!

Which files must I flash to avoid bricking my Kindle. And where can I get it if I have to use another img-file

The freedom boot file is just a boot.img file not a system.img. A boot.img is the file that boots the system. So it will not change your system. If you want to update the device to 7.4.6 and have 2nd bootloader and twrp installed just search for a stock 7.4.6 rom and flash it in twrp

When using FireFlash you flash a freedom boot.img and TWRP. This can only be done from stock. After stock, you need a zip with the necessary files in it. This is something that gets buy newer folks.
That said, I have seen a lot of complaints about random un-fixable shutdowns all over. Even a system restore and letting Amazon push OTA updates is not fixing it. Probably some hardware or software issue. If it were me, I would see what Amazon would do for warranty.
Edit: Oops, I meant to quote Elgari. Sorry about that.
Thanks! It helped a lot !

OK, My kindle rooted fine, I got TWRP and 2nd bootloader to installed and did a backup, downloaded cm11 and gapps into my download folder, got into TWRP and did a wipe added zip files hit install, everything was going good and about 4 minutes into the install I got a message on the screen saying that said "system UI has stopped" then the screen went black. I waited a few minutes hit the power button and now I'm get a "cyanogenmod account has stopped"
Do I go back into TWRP and install my backup or try installing a different cm version ?

[Q] Help flashing ROMs

Ok so I'm first going to attempt to list the process I've gone thru to describe the problem I'm having:
1. Received phone and took OTA(12B) when I got it
2. Rooted with IORoot15
3. Pushed TWRP via add... Thought I did it wrong so I reflashed it using Freegee
4. Couldn't flash any ROMs (status 7 error) so I thought I was soft bricked
5. figured out that I could flash a stock ROM so did that
6. thought problem would be solved by using CWM instead of TWRP
7. still can't flash any ROMs other than stock...
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Oh and tried to use the Status 7 fix by removing the "assert" lines but then I just kept getting Status 6 errors.

Can you please help me and give me step by step instructions because im stuck in the bad cwm and only have cm 10.2 on my sdcard. ive tried going back to stock but none of those methods are working for me even though i have all drivers and follow everything. i tried the method where i use the kdz files and also the tot files. kdz fails at 49% with no explanation and the tot method never starts after the instructions say unplug then replug back in. Im completely baffled, i havent messed around in awhile.

It boots and everything, I get into CWM. Just cant flash anything because I get abortion error status 7 every time. I see that method works for the TMO one, i have VZW.
Trying the method you posted now

have you tried to use twrp instead of clockwork, I think that's what cwm stands for make sure whatever you do you double check that method does not harm your device.
It didnt work... Fckkkkk. So to make it clearer
VZW
Lg G2
Rooted with io
Rom when rooted was stock latest ota
currently stuck in CWM with nothing to boot into because of consistent abortion then status 7.
can you sideload aboot.img from adb
Id need step by step instructions on how to sideload something because ive never messed with adb. It seems if i adb a different recovery or a specific file it may start to work. Can i sideload TWRP?
let me consult my know it all friend lol

New TWRP version.

So I just noticed there's a new TWRP build up for us! Just thought I'd throw this out there, not sure what's different.

the only change is "Bring back /misc"
you should update if you are using cm14.1, cmupdater can cause bootloop with twrp 3.0.2.0 or older

I was struggling with this this morning. I was stuck in Recovery but managed to get back into System by doing a Reboot Bootloader, then Start. Then I downloaded the new TWRP and flashed it, all is well now. Would have been easier if I had access to a computer this morning.

Flashify is usually good for that!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify&hl=en
Boot into recovery
Select install
Select near the bottom IMG button
Select IMG file
Select type of IMG ( boot, recovery)
Slide to start once finished reboot to recovery and check version
Reboot to O's
Profit
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Labs
Read several posts about bad download. Before flashing check the size of TWRP version 3.0.2.1. The file size is 11,3 Mb.

Put phone into bootloader mode. Hold shift and right click to "Open command window here" where you have ADB and your TWRP file (assuming Windows PC). Type "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-1-shamu.img". Easier, quicker, and potentially safer IMO.

That's the most basic method, but with the app FlashFire you don't need a PC.

Thank you for this. If you are using Tapatalk latest app it opens the link in its own browser and the download is only 6.92k. Opening in chrome beta and downloading gets the whole file downloaded.

Depending on version you don't even need FlashFire. TWRP can flash the updated image.

In this case not possible, because the flashed version of TWRP-recovery was corrupt.

I guess I took your post out of context, since your post didn't mention a corrupt download, but earlier posts did.

That's imaginable, because I had to edit the post.
I have made a mistake; didn't check the file size. After reboot to recovery, I noticed that a corrupt IMG was flashed.
EDIT
Version 3.0.3-0 available see next post.
TWRP-recovery version 3.0.3-0 for Nexus 6 available.

3.1.0-0

What's new:
https://www.xda-developers.com/twrp...-support-for-adb-backup-ab-ota-zips-and-more/
Installed version 3.1.0-0. With all the changes themes need to be reworked. Also, there are rumblings in the XDA article discussion thread that Aroma does not work on this recovery. I'll have to check that.
EDIT: Aroma working perfectly here, as far as I can tell.
I am just curious. Can backups made on older version of TWRP be restored by this new version? Thanks.
