so i have time warner cable in buffalo ny and i cant get any of my channels to show up in the channel scan, except for hd local channels. Anybody else have this problem?
Update:after messing around a bit, i now know that its just not scanning for analog channels, and only digital, even though it detects both my analog and digital tuner

have you tried going back in to settings and scanning each separate tuner rather than letting it do it its self.
I have a quad card all connected up 1x analogue 2 x DVB-T and DVB-S2, it auto scans all the digital ones but it wont scan the analogue unless I manually go in and select it to scan, perhaps this will be the same for you

yes i have, thats how i found out its not scanning my analog.
Update: after rebooting and doing a re-install, its now working correctly for some reason. Maybe some drivers updated in the background and i didnt notice, but whatever the reason its working now

Hi
I see in these sites a SDIO TV Tuner and A SDIO FM Tuner
Do they work with athena?
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4782.html
http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=43515
Not much of a help here, but that's what I think
Radio, I can get a radio for £1 which I think those SDIO stuff will cost much more than that, and consider that it may also takes up my phone battery. It is ok that you stop listening to radio, but having a phone with dead battery isn't very good.
TV: The SDIO seems small enough, but I wonder how big an antenna it needs. I have those WinTV USB adapter, which has a size of a PC mouse and seemingly portable. However, it won't work unless I have a massive antenna attached to it. At my area, even with the massive antenna with booster still gives me relatively poor quality. Just make sure you will be using it on a good signal area.

i want to know to they work with athena or no?
that thing you say work with athena or no?
is there any Bluetooth TV Tuner like Bluetooth GPS Reciver?
tanX
Wow - thats lucky, I was just thinking about this.
I was wondering how feezable it might be to use a WinTV type tuner with a WM5 device, namely the Athena via the external USB cable. I can get a reasonable signal here where I am on DVB-T, and it would be cool to be able to listen to the radio/watch TV via the Ameo without needing a seperate 'remote' device. I currently have the WinTV hooked upto our desktop machine @ work for this purpose, but it would be good to be able to do it via Ameo. You used to be able to get a CF TV adapter for Windows Mobile devices, but it was anallog and used seperate batteries to run the tuner.
Three problems, would the Ameo have the raw processing power to be able to do decoding of the data coming in from the TV tuner. I.e., Does the USB Stick do the decoding then the computer/pda just have to display the image/control the tuner e.t.c.
and
Drivers:- I'm guessing drivers arn't available from Hauppage/someone else, but I believe linux drivers are. For an intelligent programmer (not me ), would it be difficult to convert the drivers to WM5?
Power:- Would the Ameo be able to supply enough power to powerup the USB Stick - I'm guessing the battery would wear down pretty quickly if it could (not a problem if running on mains, like id expect to do).
Another alternative for WinTV decoder would be to install the TV Tuner on your home pc and then watch the home pc via orb.com. This would allow you to have cable and/or satellite connected at home and be able to watch live tv on your athena.
A better solution if it is available in your country is to purchase Sling Tv Tuner and watch Cable/Satellite tv on Athena. The picture quality of SLing is a little better and you don't have to leave your PC on all the time.
I find the sling tv tuner better, but others like ORB because you can also stream mp3 or other videos also.
Check them out at
www.orb.com (need a tv tuner card to watch tv)
www.slingmedia.com
Yeah, I've considered the sling, but the problems with it are that a) I'm not allowed access via our corporate firewall and b) I'm 'technically' on a data plan that doesn't allow for streaming services. Unfortunatly I'm 100m shy of being able to access the BT Openzone that's around here, so no chance for me to connect that way either.
Also seen a few comments on here that says the Sling Resolution on the Ameo is rubbish, which kinda puts me off a bit.
Its not something I was desperate for, but it would be quite a cool function to be able to connect up a USB tuner!
tv +radio
i have ameo and i have tv and radio all the time over umts
in my home i have some dreamboxes. ( dvb-s sat and dvb-c cable recievers...
1 of this nice box is with audio& video cable connected with a small server .
on this server runs windows media server 9
over internet i can choose programm ( http://amd.co.at/anti/webif.png ) and server give me this signal via umts to my ameo.. thats all
very fine quality and good sound
i use tmobile flat rate / non traffic and all good run..
regards
I'm using my Slingbox Pro with my x7500 and it works great. Just used it last night to control my cable box while eating at my favorite Italian restaurant.
The Athena has a MiniSD slot so SDIO devices will not work with it.

Anyone take a look at this:

Looks interesting. Does not show any details for pricing or anything else.
i have no idea if this has been posted before, if so i apologize.
I just thought i'd share a little program i found that i use regularly and love. The best part is that it's free!
basically it allows you to stream any sort of media from your home computer to your phone via internet. I have been able to successfully stream long 2+ hour movies to my phone over the standard EVDO internet on my mogul and it's flawless. I've also been able to stream live NFL games to my phone and watch them while i'm at work. I love it.
Goto www.orb.com and check it out. In order to stream the live tv you'd need to necessary hardware on your home computer, but you can still stream anything else. It's freaking great!
Yep. Just about every Pocket PC forum in existence over the last 2-3 years has had at least SOME post on this.
It also gets mentioned every time someone mentions Slingbox and slingplayer.
do you guys have this problem? i'm able to stream via EVDO, but i cant stream via wifi even though i have a great connection?
I cannot get Orb to load.. it just won't run on my computer at all. Everytime I load it the icon tray goes gray. Any ideas?
If you're having trouble with ORB 2.0 try version 1
Hey Bombz,
I've never had much luck getting ORB 2.0 to work on my Dell 9100 and I've no reason why. I can load up version 1 however and it works like a champ. If you've loaded up version 2 already, I think they have a special uninstaller that you can use to dump it completely before trying version 1.
Good luck,
Rick
anyone having this dish network problem?
For some reason every night my sat. reciever turns off. I have the time out turned off, but it still turns off at night. I have to press select on the reciever, but of course I cannot through orb. Any ideas of how I can work around this?
Jim
I installed Orb about 3 days ago. I love it but it does drain my battery. I had finally learned to fine tune my device so I wouldn't run out of juice before I got home in the evening, but now with orb installed I can barely make it home without a battery warning. Any suggestions? Has anyone tried the extended life battery with their phone? Does it last? Does the phone seem too big? Let me know.

I think you're confused about slingbox vs. orb.
Slingbox is a standalone peice of hardware, orb can do the same thing with the right equipment.
You're probably best off going to the orb forums at forums.orb.com, and asking your orb-specific questions there. They're very helpful, and will have more experience and up to date answers than anyone you're likely to find here.
Your absolutely correct on the orb.. i'm not sure what i was thinking..
But what is the best slingbox version to use with pocket pcs? I was just looking at some on ebay and I thought I heard one version works best and I wasn't sure if it was the newest one that worked. : )
Thanks
streaming orb over wifi
@ i2idiniow..
I played around with the wifi net connection settings, specifically the "my network card connects to" and the settings for my particular SSID. it appears setting them in some combination of work and internet allowed me to stream via wifi with the phone off. let me know if you need more specific detail! I LOVE ORB because I can watch my bt downloded episodes of UK only "top gear" & "fifth gear" whenever I want, not to mention any other of the 500gb of tv/vids/music/pics I have. I cat believe the service is free! granted this sort of thing could be done by an individual with VLC and a web server, but orb is so amazingly simple and eloquent!

Im gonna take a wild guess and say you have Dish Network. If so, they supposedly have the receiver go into update mode when inactive for 4 hours which produces the screen you are talking about. you are right, there is no way to press select in orb. you can do it with a slingbox and their software. The only know work around to this that I have seen (search the internet quit a bit on this) is to set the DVR (if you have one) to record like a couple minutes of any random program every 3 hours 59 minutes, this will wake it up. i belive I am correct on this, may vary by receiver model, but from I have seen there is no setting to chnage this on most modern receivers. bummer i know

You need to set the correct file associations. You can do this in the TCPMP settings or in the registry. The windows streaming file type is .asx
I am having the worst time getting orb to work at all, I can view the files, click on the files and they start to play but the buffering happens every 10 seconds it won't play worth a crap. I tried version 1 and it doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas?

Streaming video from my tablet to tv with wifi dongal but the audio seems to lag any ideas
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Stop then start again, don't pause and restart, doesn't work. I've also found that larger files can be an issue, though most stuff works...
Rooted? Reset the counter with Triangle away. Known issue with Allshare cast.
Non-rooted? Make sure the two devices are in line of sight. Also, make sure there are NO other wifi based devices within the same area. I have a wifi extender in the lounge and it causes the device to stutter every now and then. Other thing to do is disconnect the device and reconnect it via the reset button on the dongle.
For placement, I always find it better to have the dongle as low down as possible when I'm downstairs, upstairs is opposite, I have my tv mounted on a swing bracket near the ceiling and the dongle hangs down from it. So play around with the placement and see IF you have a deadzone in the room near the tv.
If all else fails, connect through the PS3 lol
ps3 works well but in a different way. You are accessing the note rather than "throwing" the image to the tv. But that is ok, to a point. Also maybe I am doing it wrong, to listen to music I do not have (or I can not see) the option to play from a file or album. All tunes come up to play. The PS3 does not read all types of video files so they need to be saved in the proper format. Also the included video on the note play does not read many video file types either. So I use MX player.

Following things can help...
1) clear app cache of allshare cast and anything else that looks related.. including wifidirect
2) disconnect dongle and reconnect.
3) shut down wifi in your house and try again, to see if there is interferance issue between wifi direct signal and wifi signals.
4) place the tablet closer to the dongle, to see if that improves connection
5) take the tablet out of its case, and see if that improves wifi direct signal
6) ensure that dongle software version is LJ02. You can update it by downloading an update on your tablet.
7) turn off bluetooth, to see if it avoids interferance.
8) atleast in s3, there is an option to quit power saving mode on wifi
9) the dongle outputs 720p video... so check if your tv is set for same resolution to avoid upscaling issues.
10) last but not the least... check your hdmi cable
I had the same issue with my s3 with allshare cast dongle... but my note 10.1 would connect without lag...
Doing above steps have made it a bit better connection between my s3 and dongle.
Good luck.. i hope one of these work for you...

So I just ordered a couple Nexus Players and after searching around Google I am not able to see how to get Live TV on the unit without getting the HDHomeRun gadget. I'd be looking to get signal from an OTA Antenna or cable. Right now I have a HTPC with a Ceton PCI tuner. I watch cable TV through my HTPC and WMC, and my OTA Antenna sits in the box at the moment since it really serves no purpose as long as I have cable. I plan to hook up both Nexus Players via ethernet cable to the home network. What are my options to get TV to them? Again, either cable or OTA Antenna signal. Thanks!
Kodi w/ ServerWMC
Yes kodi/serverwmc is one way but you will need to keep your htpc around and turned on.
HDHomerun is the other way that I know works, as that's what I use.
The Tablo network DVR. It is similar to the way the Silicon Dust tuners work but it is a complete DVR, except for the USB hard drive that you need to add. EPG is optional and you can do manual recordings without it if you wish to save on costs. If you prefer to have EPG service it is available for either: lifetime (unlike Tivo it is account based instead device based, you only pay once no matter how many you own); yearly or monthly. Lifetime is $150, yearly is $50, and monthly is $5. There is a 30 Day free trial included when you first activate the Tablo that expires if no subscription is made.
Storage is done by user supplied USB hard drive. The currently supported maximum HDD capacity is 5TB. Flash drives are not compatible. You can use spare desktop and laptop HDDs with certain USB hard drive enclosures, Sayba and Sabrent are known to be compatible. Which ever HDD you go with make sure to go to its maker's website and download whatever tools it has for your drive. Make sure whatever sleep or power down modes are disabled as they can cause disconnects. A new HDD being installed will be formatted causing the loss of all existing data. You can not upload content onto the Tablo to use as a NAS.
All TV, live or recorded is transcoded to H.264 for video and AAC stereo/prologic for sound to support the largest number of devices. Android TV devices are the strongest for Tablo playback on a TV Chromecast and Roku tend to be the weakest in terms of load up times and remote response. Because of the transcoding overhead it can take 6-15 seconds to tune into a new channel depending if you have Enable Fast Live TV Startup enabled or not.
Local streaming is supported out of the box. Out of home streaming requires EPG subscription.

That was one of the biggest reasons I ended up selling my Tablo. It takes away from the trigger finger surfing experience.
I ended up getting a HDhomerun Extend and love the idea of a network tuner. I love the quick tuning times in the Google Live Channels app. However, I wish it was more stable. I may have to give InstaTV a try and see if it works better. I am really hoping Silicondust gets their act together with their HDHomerun DVR system and improve the stability of their Android TV app.
I need someone who uses an HDHD for live TV on the Nexus Player to check if they can still connect to the HDHR or not. I am unable to connect to it on either of my Nexus players or on my Nexus phone, all of which are on Android 6.0.1 with Jan 1st security patch. My Android 5.1.1 tablet and windows PC has no issues so I suspect it's an incompatibility issue with either Android 6.0.1 or the most recent security patch. If it's confirmed I'm going to need to figure out how to roll back to a version that still works...

mine is also working fine. HDHR-Prime. I would just make sure that whatever app youre using for it, and the FW on the box are all up to date, and that the CC is pushed in completely. beyond that most issues ive had have been fixed by unplugging it, waiting, and plugging it back in.
I have HDHR Prime with comcast cable card plugged in and HDHomerun android app installed from google store on the Nexus Player. Video is good, audio is only stereo. But the stream - both video and audio freeze - frequently. I then have to switch over to the another channel, select that channel and then move back to the original channel. Not sure whether my router - running 5Ghz and wireless N - is the culprit and not able to handle the HDHR video streams. All other apps, Netflix, Sling TV etc never have any issues streaming.

it's because it's wireless. I have 3 NPs...2 are hardwired and rarely have issues. one is wifi (5ghz) and even though it's about 15 feet from the router freezes and stutters frequently.
Thank you all. The problem was with the WiFi connection. I still don't know what was wrong exactly, but after I renamed the wifi and connected all devices over the 5ghz band they are all working now. It just seemed odd that I could connect to Lollipop and windows devices but not to marshmallow. But that was just a coincidence.

I came across this same issue, I'm not running my nexus tv over wireless, I've added an OTG usb cable, a powered usb switch, and a usb to 10/100/1000 lan adapter and noticed i was having this problem after I upgraded the firmware on my Linksys Wrt1200ac router from stock to ddwrt, I then remembered part of the setup for the hdhr prime was to make sure your router isn't filtering multicast (will be in your firewall settings). Once i changed that setting and rebooted my router I no longer had the freeze and fail symptoms.

Thanks for your answere. If I go to security/firewall page. I do see "Multicast" is being filtered. But the setting is appearing under WAN. I disabled so that Multicast is not being filtered. No luck. The HDHR view app still shows all channels. Plays very well both audio/video for a period of time - no stuttering or glitch - sometimes few minutes and sometimes more than an hour, without any hitch. But then video freezes - no audio as well. I have to navigate to a different tv channel and select the same channel again. It works then.

I replaced my router - Linksys WRT610NV1 (300Mbps Wireless N) with Trendnet TEW-811DRU AC1200. While there are lot negative reviews for the TEW-811DRU, it has worked very nicely for my needs. No more freezes. The router I believe can get pretty hot. Since it is winter time, it may not matter much. I will wait till summer to see whether there are issue because of that. For the price I paid < $20 it is a great buy even if it works for a very short time.
