Hello,
i installed cwm recovery on my samsung gs+ (i9001) using a tutorial i found on google.
Now when i access recovery mode by pressin vol + and power button while the phone is off i get to the recovery mode first screen, but the thing is i can't do anything from there... when i navigate to a menu using the volume buttons and press powerbutton to enter it, nothing happens, the text just flickers and that's all. The same when i navigate to "reboot device now" it just flickers and doesn't respond.
What do i do?
i installed the recovery mode using odin
i connected my phone in download mode
set AriesVE.ops as OPS and recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ariesve.tar.md5 as PDA and pressed start while the hone was recognized by Odin, it took it 6 seconds or so to start rebooting my phone.
Thank you for considering my message.

Try the Homebutton (the button in the middle)
Thanks for the advice but the home button just makes the phone reboot.
Is there a detailed step by step tutorial to instal miui rom on galaxy s plus ? Can't find any.

I don't really use Clockwork Recovery, so I don't really know what is wrong. Try using Team Win Recovery Project [TWRP thread]. Its touch screen so no buttons to press. :highfive:
As for MIUI try the wiki or the MIUI section here

Hello my home key is defective and i can't enter on the Recovery Menu by the key combinaison.
I search to enter to the Recovery Menu (or CWM) by changing the key combinaison.
Anyone know how to do that? thank you
Up ?
Download and install QuickBoot from Google Play Store. With this app you can reboot in recovery mode.
Thank you but I just want to change the combinaison ^^
Am not sure about changing key combination, how about remapping the keys? The one sure way is the terminal emulator- reboot recovery cmd

Good morning!
I had the same problem. Every googled key-combination failed with my phone. I couldn't start CWM.
Finally i found something that helped me:
Try this:
Shut down your Phone
Press Power AND VOL+ AND VOL- AND Menu
When the LG logo dissapears release Power
Keep pressing the keys until the CWM-menu comes up.
I don't know, why my phone is totally different to all the others.

Hello,
I'm having a issue with Custom Recovery.
I've tryed to install both (CWM and TWRP).
The thing is when I turn off my device to
turn it on again pressing Vol Up + Power + Home I got a message saying "Recovery Booting". But the recovery doesnt start, instead my phone vibrate and begins to boot normally. It doesnt enter in custom recovery mode.
I was hoping someone could help me on this.
My device:
Stock ROM
Root (Edited to get rid of Custom status)
1337UCUAMDL
Does anyone know how to unistall a custom recovery or have any idea why this is happening?
By the way I followed this steps

Are you letting go of the power button when the device vibrates?
This is how I get in recovery...while phone is on, long press power button for power menu, press restart...than only hold the volume up while it restarts and nothing else, it will than boot into recovery

have you tried re-flashing the recovery?
Have you tried downloading one of the simple reboot tools that let you choose to reboot recovery?
Thanks for the help guys.
So I tried enter in recovery thru CWM option (Restart in Recovery) it worked.
But it doesnt work when I try manually (vol up + home + power). I really dont know why.
I'm afraid flashing a custom rom doing this way, because if something goes wrong I wont be able to acess the costume recovery.
Is there a way to unisitall the custom recovery?

when you see that blue text, and even right before that when your s4 vibrates, are you releasing just the power button? also, have you tried mg2195's suggestion? what recovery are you currently running?
Just flash a different recovery using the one u have.when I first rooted my S4 I used ROM manager ,it had the T-Mobile S4 option so I tapped it and it flashed CWM .after reading about "Loki"I decided to go with the auto Loki .I downloaded the auto Loki and flashed it with the recovery I got from ROM manager.not one problem and I like MDOB MF3 rom

This is actually a common problem for some reason. There's an easy workaround:
Long press the power button and choose "power off". Give your phone a few seconds to turn off completely. Once it's off, press and hold these 3 buttons at the same time: POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME. Look at the top left of the screen - as soon as you see little blue text saying entering recovery, let go of all buttons immediately...but be ready...if your phone vibrates (it might be trying to reboot normally again), press and hold those same buttons again until you see the blue text again...then let go immediately. Now you will see your recovery!
Alternatively, when I'm not on a custom ROM that has the reboot options mod built in, I use this app to get to recovery/bootloader easily:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot
Okay so I have the cyanogen mod flashed on my s4. But for some reason now it won't boot into cwm recovery. Any ideas?

In Developer options, enable the Advanced Reboot.
The 3 button combo will work, it's just a matter of timing. Remove and replace the battery, hold vol up + home, then power, holding all three, and when it vibrates, let go of power only.
You could also hook up in USB Debugging mode and issue the command:
adb reboot recovery
And if you don't have a developer option go into about phone and tap build number 7 times.

Some people, including myself, cannot get it to work with the standard procedure...the solution is to basically do it twice. Here's a copy/paste of the instructions:
Long press the power button and choose "power off". Give your phone a few seconds to turn off completely. Once it's off, press and hold these 3 buttons at the same time: POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME. Look at the top left of the screen - as soon as you see little blue text saying entering recovery, let go of all buttons immediately...but be ready...if your phone vibrates (it might be trying to reboot normally again), press and hold those same buttons again until you see the blue text again...then let go immediately. Cool
CWM recovery only requires you to push the volume up key and then press the power key until the phone vibrates and then let go of the power button only. When the blue lettering appears, let go of the volume up. The home button should only be required with TWRP.

Whatever the reason, that is not the case with my phone and many others. I've read several threads of people having the same issue. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the OUDHS CWM w/ auto-loki or what.
I've never heard of letting go of the power button only while still pressing volume up, but I gave it a try just to see...it did get me into CWM recovery but only after doing it twice, similar to the method I wrote above.
I have tried letting go of both volume up and power (no pressing home at all) and never found a way to get into recovery.
Anyways, it seems there's no harm in pressing the home button either way and it's probably easier than letting go of the power button and still holding volume up...and easier to explain too lol.

My minor issue is that when I boot to recovery (twrp) it get to the twrp splash screen then freeze. Takes me another reboot or two before recovery really launches.
Tried reinstalling recovery and fixing permission, etc.. but same deal. Anyone have thoughts on this?
I boot into recovery all the time but I have to hold volume up and home button.
Bump!
I'm having the same issue. What I did was that I had the CWM recovery installed and tried to reset the flash counter. Now the phone won't boot into the recovery, it just boots up as usual when I press vol up+home+power up. I appreciate any help! :/

Can you get the blue text in the upper left corner of the screen to appear at any time?
In my case, trying to get into recovery via the 3 buttons is a matter of very precise timing if I try pressing all 3 buttons at the same time. The instant I see the blue text I let go of everything and it works. Hold it for even a fraction of a second longer and the blue disappears and it goes into a normal boot. It works much better if I press Vol Up, then add Power, then add Home. I'm doing that sequence fairly quickly but the point is I'm not trying to press 3 buttons at the exact same time.
But I'm using CWM so I don't need the 3rd button...
From a powered-down state I hold Vol Up then Power and hold both through the vibration until the blue text appears and it goes into CWM recovery just fine. There seems to be a bit more leeway in terms of how fast you need to let go this way although I just tested and holding about a half second too long caused it to bounce out of recovery and do a normal boot. Let go immediately when you see the blue.
Phone won't boot..
So after using CASUAL, my phone rebooted, and got stuck on the splash screen with RECOVERY BOOTING.. in the top left corner. I pull the battery, try to do a normal reboot; takes me to the same screen. Trying the 3 button combo for recovery; same thing. Any suggestions?? I am NOT on MF3 Firmware.
**EDIT** Should have looked into it more before posting, but Found my solution returning to STOCK

But i really want cwm ir twrp to installl supersu and do backups
Was attempting to switch back to stock messaging app, and was using some old rom (mint jelly) with Titanium backup/rooted. I made the following changes :
unfreeze messaging app
restart bluetooth pairings
uninstall beauty face
uninstall best face
and then restarted my phone, and will not come back on? What the hell?
Will not enter recovery, at all. Just stays frozen on SAMSUNG. Not amused, please help if you can
Are you sure you are pressing the correct buttons? Volume UP + Power, when the device vibrates release the Power button and when 'Recovery Booting...' blue text appears release Volume UP button.
If you still can't enter the recovery mode there is only one option left: flash stock firmware with Odin!

however there doesnt look like much i can do with recovery mode. the only backup is a year old and might as well be reflashing. is there some way to get into safe mode and maybe undo the changes i made in TitBackup?
To start Safe Mode you have to Power on the device with the Volume DOWN button pressed, until it boots up
Here's my problem.
I can't get into recovery by pressing the power up, home, power buttons. It says it's 'entering recovery', but then it gives another 'buzz' (like when the phone starts), and just reboots normally.
I used to be able to get into recovery with ROMManager, by selecting the 'boot into recovery'. Then I just got into my CWM and could do whatever I wanted. Now I can't do that anymore, probably because my device is not rooted atm (got CM12 on it though). I wanted to root it, but I can't get into recovery.
I already tried flashing TWRP with Odin (download mode does work), but that doesn't work either. I obviously searched google and XDA for the problem, and I saw suggestions for other phones, like updating the bootloader. But I can't find any information or files for updating the bootloader.

Reboots trying to go custom recovery are normal sometimes.
Lil guide for enter custom recovery (TWRP):
1. Power off your device completely.
2. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
3. Release only the Power button when the logo of Samsung in white appears (you will see little letters in blue and red on the top left of the screen).
4. You will see the blue logo of TWRP (pic attached) then and you can release all buttons and start to navigate for the custom recovery.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think you understood my question. I know how to get into recovery when it all works. I've done it many times before. The problem is that it shuts down while booting into recovery, and then just reboots normally.
I only installed TWRP because CWM wouldn't work, but TWRP doesn't either. So I guess it has to do with how the device boots into recovery, regardless of what the recovery is.
Anyone? I kinda want to flash another ROM, but I'm unable to right now.

I don't think that's the problem. I have 0 issues with the power button. Also, when I try to boot into recovery, it actually says it's 'starting recovery'. Then it stops with a buzz and reboots.
