[Q] Remapping button keys? - Continuum General

My power button stopped working sadly and the only way to unlock my phone is through the ticker *which comes in very handy* but I was wondering if anyone knows how to remap keys for the Continuum so I can unlock from volume buttons or something due to broken power button. >.<

tb modded softkeys, not sure how he editted the .kl files havent tried but it may involve smali

pwr butt fix
i editted the key layout to wake with volumes and camera.
easiest way is to dowmload attachment, and use TB101 instant themer/decompiler/cwm-maker/cant wait for v6... and put it with the rest of softkey layouts (folder is labeled) and drag your frameworks in and mod. it will spit out a cwm you can push and reboot recovery.
this is easiest cause i dont know what framework your on.
if you cant do themer post ur framework-res.apk or send me link.

Actually for some odd reason whenever I remove the battery and put it back on it goes it cwm when I hold only the volume buttons. No power button. Weird, but lucky. So I have that. plus the new 14 toggles give me another easy way to get in cwm. So no worries there either.

remap volume keys

I've searched the forum and couldn't find anything to do it. But I seem to be pressing the volume keys all too often. And I wonder if I can
a) change it so it only affects the volume if I hold it down
b) can remap them to do something cool and useful rather than change the volume (which I only ever really want to do during a call, and I can't see the screen then anyways.
BUMP
What I really want to do is use them to scroll in the browser.
try this: AE.Button.Plus-v2.6.3
it'll work great!

I agree with TheOne_
Iv been using this software for a while and it is very powerful indeed.
You can assign a single button to do three different things with 'AE Button plus'.
Try it...

Assigning Back button as OK

hi i want to assing the back button "<--" on the bottom with the OK button. i dont need the back functionality, what i want is to avoid trouble hitting OK on the top every time. someone suggested me AEbutton, that solved my problem assigning the volume button for up down navigation, but i want to assing back button to act as OK.
pl. help
Well, I've got good news. The Back button IS OK. Try it in a Settings dialog, pressing Back *will* save your changes.
You can assign actions to OK with AEBPlus.
This surprised the hell out of me - I only realized this after owning my HD for a month.
It also means that there is no PPC/HD equivalent to the Back button on smartphone devices. I had a Vox before, and was used to the Back button meaning "cancel".
JUst to add a little to that.
Is it possible in any way to disable the volume keys?
I cant stop pressing them by mistake

AE Button plus
then just remap them so they dont work as volume keys on a single press ( i use the long press to make them go up and down, but in rreality i use the slider to actually move change volume so i dont need to even map them to the volume at all)
Ehm.... what is the slider? I read about that also in TouchLockPro and I couldn't realize what it was.

I just took a bunch of screenshots with no software whatsoever.

This might be cause of my ROM so here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796987
Here's how it works:
Hold the back touch key with one finger, then place a second finger on the status bar and without raising either finger tap the home button.
You should hear a sound and a png will be saved on /sdcard/ScreenCapture.
Would be nice if someone confirms this works on non custom roms.
Sorry if this is old news. Search didn't return much.

[Q] is it possible to switch key functions

Hello everyone.
Last time my touchscreen stopped working. I figured out that every time i use 'end call key' my touch screen is not responding.
Question : Is it possible to switch key fundions? I mean... for example i want to make 'home' key my 'end call key' and vice versa. And if it is possible then how i can do it?
Check out Button Savior. I don't know about remapping hardware keys but this can give you software controls to get around it. There are also a tonne of screen lock widgets that could work, and some ROMs even have it built into quick settings on the notification drawer or the softkeys on ICS+ ROMs.

There used to be an app called button remapper on the play store but I can't find it now!!
Well anyway you can change the button mappings by editing the kepad layout file in /system/usr/keylayout/ folder.
Their will be a few their so you will have to figure out which one to edit for your rom.
Mine is htcleo_keypad.kl.
You will need a root explorer to do this, just open with a text editor!
Make sure to write down the mappings before starting then you can swap them about.
I am not sure but I think the power button isn't changeble but you can assign power to another key.
Ah, I was wondering if I had just gone crazy because I thought I remembered an app by that name but I couldn't find it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

... It's exactly the same way with stock.
If you really don't know and you've never used screenshot on stock ROM, the button combo is home+power. Hold the home key (not long enough to bring up the recent apps window) and quickly press the power button.
Note that in CM7.2 this combo does not work, rather there is an option in the power menu (when you press and hold the power button to turn it off/reboot).
Next time, use Search or Google.

see post 1 and post 2 of this guide to add it to the epm

or use screenshot ultimate from the playstore if you just want an app that can take a screenshot either by touching an overlay button or shaking the phone
