...an article I found on the 'net listing supposed "official leaked" information about the timeframe for us RHD/RHDMaxx users (and other Motorolas) getting the new 4.2.2 version of Android. LIke one of the comments states, it's interesting that there is a timeframe to update software that we haven't even received as an update yet
Also it talks about a Nexus Motorola... possible next phone purchase?
http://androidcommunity.com/rumor-m...-nexus-and-android-4-2-key-lime-pie-20121024/
2013?
You noticed that, eh?
Keep in mind that we haven't even received the 4.1 update yet, and if it's true about the RAZR X and the Motorola Nexus, our phones are already outdated, tech-development-wise. I was just happy that eventually it will be coming... eventually the key word...
Man I hope the moto nexus is true and unlocked!!!

Really - that is what I want. Razr Nexus. With LTE. On Verizon. With SD support.
Nexus won't be with sd support... Google want you to buy everything on the play store...
Older razr's are getting JB right now!

Well, to be fair: the soak test for the original Razr was way before the soak test of the Razr i retail.en.gb (soak test for og Razr was around Christmas 2012).

Also much less work as its ARM.
I'm hoping (probably in vain) that we also get an update to "Key Lime" since Motorola now belongs to Google. But let's face it. Since our wonderful phones don't have much development happening, x86 might just die as a smartphone architecture.
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
Well, Intel announced a new dual-core x86 processor and a few new phones so I don't think it's going to die anytime soon...
I saw too the new processor. A dual-core that reaches 21400 points in benchmark... Very surpresely.
I think motorola won't update RAZR's to 4.2.1... It's just waste of time and work. They'll probably focus everything in Key Lime Pie and then completely forget the today RAZRs to new ones. Don't expect too much from them too. As the link says, maybe in the end of 2013.
Uhm, no. The Razr HD will get 4.2.x I was told so they won't forget about at least one Razr family member.

I'm dying for a worthy replacement for my Razr. I believe I have found it in the z! Any chance we May see it on Verizon's network?

None if you ask me. Sony isn't really bothering with the US this year (focusing on Japan and Europe) and was never big on building phones for Verizon/Sprint.
You're better off switching to T-Mobile or AT&T and getting an unlocked one from Sony.com.

I would switch in a heartbeat except I don't want to give up my unlimited data plan. Guess I may end up waiting for the X phone.

You're most likely to see the UL, as it is designed for networks transitioning from cdmaOne and friends to LTE but not yet finished.
I took my RAZR i back for a refund today, after realising I couldn't put Cyanogenmod on it. I am now looking at the RAZR m, it looks like the same phone except no intel processor and 4G capability. Would I be able to put CM on there? Some say it is not possible to unlock the bootloader?
Since it is not available in the UK, I will need to buy it from the US. I've found a few unlocked versions on ebay, but they are unlocked to GSM networks. Does this mean my Three sim card won't be compatible? Will I be able to access 3G/4G?
Thanks
It is possible to use a RAZR M on UK GSM networks, but you will only get up to 3g speeds.
As for CM, you should find out what software version the phone is on if you plan on buying it secondhand.

just make sure the build date is prior to 5/2013
The software version is crucial. If it is from July, then you do NOT want it. Otherwise, you can say goodbye to the latest CM versions and other Roms.
Make sure if you do find the right version, that you unlock that phone immediately before an OTA screws your chances of unlock.

If you bought it new, chances are its still on 4.1.1, which means you can unlock.

Unfortunately I bought it used on ebay, but the seller told me he's almost positive it was manufactured before July 2013. Hopefully it will be ok, otherwise I will have to sell it.

I did but he told me he'd already posted it. Since it's a used phone, what do you reckon the chances would be that I can unlock the bootloader and put on CM?

well, if the seller claims that the bootloader is unlocked, then I would hold him to it. if you get it, and the bootloader is not, then you have a legitimate gripe and can return it.

hmmm.... it may. not 100% sure if "global unlock" means that he has already unlocked the bootloader to allow global use, or simply rooted it to allow global access.... or something else.
I did not see a screenprint of the phone settings from the listing, so I guess you are at a "wait and see" point. certainly, when you first turn it on, check the "about phone" section - and do NOT accept any OTA updates.
good luck

The moto x is significantly more expensive than an XT907, and for the price, the XT907 is worth every penny.

sooooo, are you saying the XT907 is worthless or priceless? j/k
not really sure what the other guy was referring to about it being "boring".... what are you expecting from a cell phone, a lap dance? a phone is a phone - the difference is what you make of it.
Hello. I just picked up a razr hd maxx and turns out it was a demo model at the local verizon store. I've searched the forums but haven't found anything on it, but is it possible to root it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advanced
There's a ton of threads on xda about routing this phone. Assuming it was a working demo and not a dummy demo, you should be able to root it. Unlocking it will depend on if it's been updated to the latest. If it has then it's not in unlockable.

Ah I see. What would be the latest software or firmware version? Also we're from the same city lol
Nice! I'm not sure but I'm sure a Google search will easily yield you the version number. Sorry I'm not trying to be unhelpful but the info is there. You can download the utility from the development section and it should have all that info in it for you as well as the root exploit. Should be fairly easy (less then a couple minutes.) Good luck

9.18.79 or 9.20.1, either one = no unlock for bootloader (probably ever)
That's a shame.

Not even worth the time man its not going to happen. We were lucky to get the first exploit and now this phone is last year's model it ain't happening.
