Everyone is making NativeSD ROMs, data2ext is really popular... But even though I have a class 10 card, NAND is always clearly faster.
I have ADATA 16GB class10 micro SD, which at least 16GB card would perform better, and to clarify - better than NAND?
fastest microSDHCs
I believe Sandisk has the fastest microsd. The SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC UHS-I.

I want to get myself a new SD Card for my Magician:
I will choose between a standard 1 GB SD Card and the SanDisk UltraII SD 1GB
First of all, does it really make the difference if i take the UltraII? How much faster is it anyway? It would cost me almost 50% more.
Secondly, can the Magician even handle the Ultra? Are cards up to 2GB even supported?
Or should I consider a bigger card?
Currently I've got a 256 Sandisk standard....
SD cards
In general you probably won't see the speed deference between the basic and ultra on a PDA, because of the speed of the interface.
If you use a card reader (using USB 2 interface) then you will see the speed increase.
Personally, I've just bought a Sandisk 1GB Ultra plus card:
http://www.picstop.co.uk/Secure-Digital-(SD)/SanDisk-Ultra-II-(USB)-SD-Plus-Card---1GB
Will have to wait and see how good it is!
Apparently 4GB sd cards are coming soon, which should drop the price of the 1GB cards even further.
DS
If you going with a 2gb card - go with the sandisk ultra... I purchased an A-Data 2gb 150x and it does not work.
SanDisk Ultra are good cards.
Which memory card is better Sandisk 16GB Class2 or Class 4(mobile ultra)
I know class 4 is faster, but does it make any difference on the HD?
What speed is the 2GB stock MicroSD card the HD2 ships with? (Just to know)
IS Class 2 fast enough? I have a 16GB class two that I'd like to use, but not at the expense of performance on the phone, or problems, etc.
Anyone?
Class II is enough for a phone. Dunno the speed of the inserted one - guess it is class II. I'm using a class II 16GB mSDHC from Toshiba since more than a year and I never faced any problems.
Here I have done two micro SD benchmark using sandisk microSD reader:
SanDisk microSDHC 2GB Classe 2
SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8GB Classe 4
The Ultra version has twice the speed of the stock one.
Yeah, that may be right and it could be faster when you copy some files to your phone or pull it down of it. But nevertheless the phone does not need more then class II, because it won't be able to exhaust it.
Even when recording video?

Sandisk doing better than Samsung in SD, for higher performance, i use Sandisk UHS-I 8GB SD.
I used both NativeSD and DataonExt. My Scandisk Ultra 16G work fine.
Sandisk 10 class with UHS - hd2 incompatible
I tested 2 microsd cards(I bought in one place at once) with 2 different hd2.
first card worked with bouh hd2, but only 1-2 days => after freeze.
second card freezed at boot always, on both phones.
MD5 checksum was identical for both cards.
Both cards work very quickly with other devices without glitches.
Now i use 4.2.2 with transcend 10 class without UHS. HD2 is fast now, more than ever... A1 SD Bench: 18.9mb/s read, 10.5mb/s write.

I would strongly suggest checking out this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947560
My SanDisk 32gb class 6 card reads about 10mbs higher than yours. My suspicion is that it's your buffer size that needs to be adjusted, but that thread is one of the best resources for optimizing you're card.

Do you test speed by "SD Tools" ? In this programm my transcend show 33mb/s, but it's cached speed, i saw same speed on 2 class card.
I agree what sandisk very fast. But cards with UHS not worked with my both hd2(512mb EU and RU versions )
SDTools seems to be the XDA standard from most when testing you're SD card. I find it very accurate and reliable.

Hi,
just got a new 16GB Sandisk Ultra class 10 card for my ageing HD2 and tried firing up a tytung CM12 Nand rom data on ext4.
i installed from magldr with the zip file on sd card and installed ok.
i have used this rom before on an 8gb class 4 but was hoping for a bit of extra speed.
the problem is that each time i reboot, i lose the changes and the phone goes through the initial setup.
what causes that?
while it was running, before the reset and losing everything i added, these were the figures:
Sandisk class 4 8GB HC
read 19Mb/s
write 4.1Mb/s
Sandisk Ultra class 10 16GB HC I
read 14Mb/s
write 8.7Mb/s
so class 10 is down on read speed but double on write speed.
--------------------------------
incidently Sandisk Ultra 64Gb on my HTC M8
read 107Mb/s
write 45Mb/s
times have changed...
tytung has said not to use UHS ultra cards on the HD2, but I have not heard of your problem before. They usually work fine for a bit then things start to go wrong. How did you format it to ext4?
Hi, @robbiep: thanks for the info. i do remember something about a warning now you mention it.
first partition was fat32, about 12GB and second was ext4 about 4 GB.
i had a 64GB Sandisk ultra in there before when i used it daily but just found the order for it and it was sold as class 10 but actually was Sandisk 64GB Ultra XC I (not HC I)
the 16GB was cheap so i will write that off to experience.
read speed was actually slower that the calss 4. i was really looking for a class 6 or 8 as i heard the class 10 were not really suitable for a smartphone but couldnt find any.
8GB is back in there now and all working ok.
still really surprised just how fast the M8 is now
