Hola! folks , As my title of the post speaks, I'm seeing weird vertical white line shades where screen separation is (This problem appears only when screen has some dark grey colors). Can anyone please tell what is it and why I am seeing it, Has my screen broke ?
I've uploaded some screenshot to show the problem , please give it a look. Thanks.

I`d send it back mate. Better safe than sorry

[Q] Green line on the left edge of screen (AMOLED Nexus S)?

Hi guys,
I am newbie to the Nexus S.. have had it since yesterday.. loving it.. upgraded to ICS..
But.. I have noticed a thin (probably a pixel width) green line on the left side of the screen.. this line is visible on white (or lighter backgrounds).. try going to the Google homepage on auto brightness.. you may see it.. it is hard to spot but once you spot you cant miss it..
I think it may be due to the pentile nature of the screen specifically the green sub-pixel.. and possibly affects all the AMOLED Nexus S handsets..
I just wanted some reassurance from fellow AMOLED SNSerz that this is a feature and not a defect on my screen.. before I am tempted to return my new favourite toy..
PS.. apologies in advance if this has been discussed before but I did do a search before posting..
PPS.. I would request you guys to tell me if my theory is indeed correct and that you guys all have this green line on the left side of your screens..
Thanks..
KKH
I have never noticed this on my NS4G, which has a samoled display.
Follow the leader @corythug
Woah I have been using this device for a year and never noticed that before :O
Damn why did you told us that >_< Now it will always take my attention >_<
Yep. I noticed it. Even received 3 replacements. I believe they are on all of them. I try not to think about it.

I noticed it a lot when a person had a blackish contact image in messaging. Glad to know I wasn't the only one!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
It caused by pentile matrix used in none plus samoled screens. Each pixel is made of two sub pixels one green and one either blue or red. The green sub pixel is always on the left side so the left side of the screen will always have that green line.

Thanks guys.. you have confirmed my suspicions..
I'll just live with the "feature"
PS. corythug.. the line is not noticeable if you don't look for it.. but once you see it you can't avoid it..

Black Level Color Depth not Deep Enough ?????

Hey There..
just got my s3 a few days ago, pebble blue vietnam june batch..
Ok now there has been a lot of discussion regarding screen issues like:
1. Tints
2. Ink spots/blothces
3. Black Crush
4. Black/other color Clipping
5. Depth of Black level
I dont have problem 1... Just 2-3 tiny ink spots, so even problem 2 is negligble....i dont have problem 3 and its can be tweaked with software even if one has it..problem 4 i dont care about much...
So, my area of concern is the 5th problem, i.e when compared to an sgs2 or sgs1 , i find that the black levels are not as deep and super black as the former two phones !
Its not really noticable in normal lighting..please check the following in a very dark room or completely dark room...
Using a pure black wallpaper (attached below or use ur own true black wallpaper) , just open it in gallery, it seems extremely dark grey (almost black) and u can tell where the display meets the bezel...
well, even on sgs2 n sgs1 on pure black background, u could see a little backlight, so not perfect black, which is understandable....so here is where the main problem comes...read below..
on a sgs2 or sgs1, When there is text or icons or other stuff over a pure black backgorund, this time the blacks appear black (obviously its due to contrast difference producing the illusion of super black) and one cannot tell where the screen border ends n the bezel starts, it just blends due to the super blacks! This is what i love and want !!
However, this is not the case with my sgs3, the damned blacks still are not perfect black & i can see where the screen borders end and distinguish the bezel & the screen , they dont blend beautifully!
to experience this, in a dark room, on any brightness level, preferably test at 30% screen brightness cause thats what we normally tend to use indoors, atleast i do...
please use this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJO88Qhxwv4
(Thanks Tinderbox UK for the link)
or
play and high quality Dexter(Serial) video and see the part right before the intro theme where it says “SHOWTIME presents” (in white text) over a black blackground...
or
In youtube app when any video loads n the black screen comes with loading circle
or
use the pure black wallpaper with few icons on ur homescreen...
in the above cases, u should see pure black and u should not be able to tell where the screen n bezel borders meet..which is what u get on sgs1 n sgs2 screens..and i dont get this result on my sgs3 :-(
On sgs3, its almost black, but u can notice its very slightly gray ! so this is annoying to me since im so used to it appearing deeep black on the sgs1 n sgs2 !
--- So now what i need u guys to tell me is whether most sgs3 panels have this issue or is it just me ???
--- Will software tweaks like Supercurios upcoming “Display Expert” solve it by adding some black color depth adjustment ??
--- Should i take this to the Service Center? but prob is how will i show them the problem in a bright environment ?? and what if they tell me that the super amoled HD variant for the sgs3 is a new tech n differnt from the sgs1 n sgs2 screens and hence not as deep blacks ??
I WANT BLACK man !! i LOVED SuperAmoled cause if JET BLACK !! Help please!
this has been already experienced by many and so far none of the display experts has answered it or havent found the answer yet. in pitch dark environment the screen will look greyish black rather than pure black. i had the same on my s2 too but with a lesser margin.

hey Bala thnx fr replying, but wht im saying is tht, in ur gs3, dont u think its more grayish ?? iv listed the different conditions ...can u check n see?? im not talking about a plain pure black bckground which i agree is a lil grayish n is normal, but im talking bout black with other content on the screen....due to contrast differences n other colors from the non-black content, the black appears actual black as i had in sgs1 n sgs2, but in sgs3, it still does not Appear deep black
i dont thinks so mate, apart from the overall greyishness in full black conditions, i feel the blacks are good enough in images, video etc.
One more thing ,the feel of greyish black in pitch dark conditions may also be due to the fact that the screen border is dead black which makes us feel that the screen is not black enough. sgs2 didnt had this screen border afaik.
Are you looking at your phone the right way. You should be looking it at like this:

the black border is there always, you can see it from the home screen itself
I am having the exact same issue (or experiencing the exact same ''feature'') What i mean by this is that my SGS2 was pretty much pitch black, this one, not so much, I don't believe it's a ''problem'' though... probably made this way, although I REALLY liked the JET BLACK of the previous Super Amoleds...

yes i really wish the previous experience was there....but some ppl are saying they have real blacks with their sgs3 panels also...so i was wondering if its only for a certain batch of phones...
I want some big name devs to comment on this..if its software related n can be improved...then i wont fret about it so much...
some users in gnex forums said that maybe the voltage levels to the the 720p HD screens are lil higher and hence maybe the blacks are not completely dim, n emitting a lil light..
dam, i want some expert analysis on this !!
Depend on your way using smartphone . With me, almost time not using in dark inviroment, so I please with S3 screen .
Of course, display poor black in dark inviroment will be like dark/black gray . S1 seem better

The fact that Samsung still have this issue on the S3 indicate that it's a bigger problem that we(the Gnote Owners) anticipated,I was thinking that this problem was only localized to N7000.it's the same sh*t with Gnote but yours is just a bit less noticeable or Samsung tried working on it but failed

Damn ...so it seems llike most of Samsung's amoled HD displays have this issue...but still the poll on first page is 50-50...means some phones are perfct ...that's the annoying part...if all were with this issue I wouldn't be complaining that much...
This is true, so do you have an idea how we can tackle this problem, cos we need solution asap

I loved my SGS2 pure black screen...the next SGS4 will have black worse than HTC One XX of the year 2013 LOL did anybody contact author of display expert??? Maybe its possible to somehow lower the voltage of turned off pixels (black color) to do not emit to much light...

SCREEN - Light Bleed / Dead Pixels

Sent my first AM7 back to Amazon due to some screen issues. It was a silver model. My new black one is much better and only has a little Bleed in the top left corner. Being an lcd screen I expected a little as my Panasonic TV has this issue also and previous HTC One M7 had the same too.
The actual screen quality is really great just a little Bleed on some units it seems.
Anyone else notice issues. You will only see them in darkness.
No such issues in my unit. Even I put a complete black wallpaper but still no bleeding seen.

Good to know. Probably a quality control issue then.
You shouldn't be worried about this minor problem. It doesn't affect the performance in any way.

Exactly .. people are too much worrying .. - some little bleed- it is just LED light pases trough you won't help it .. you wont see it only when screen is black and you in dark.. in normal use is invisible ..
Mine LG TV has bleed in one corner .. so what.. if i replace it the bleed will be in another corner..

That's my point also. People are making this a very big issue. I never looked for this in my other mobiles till I saw this discussion here. People want to create problems for themselves... ? ?
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-TL10 using Tapatalk
I ordered two AM7s: a white one on the left and a black one on the right. Both have light bleed issues. Here are some pics compared to an iPhone 6, all with the same wallpaper.
Mine is not that bad but looks like ad card slot and volume rocker locations which is interesting. A little bleed is usual normal on LCD as discussed but I returned my first unit die to a dead pixel in the centre of my screen which I think most would agree is not acceptable
Well, if youre going to look at @buddyrevel's pictures, the light bleed is surely an issue. Btw, mine has too, on the right side where power and volume buttons are located.

Yellow tint

I have redmi note 4g and its a wonderful phn with a grt specs in vry low price..
Even display is gorgeous but there is a problem with my display.. I dnt knw whether its only me or anyone else hv same kinda issue.. Display works absolutly fine ,but " THERE IS A YELLOW TINT ON SIDE EDGES OF A DISPLAY".
Its a gradient yellow and appers mainly on top side edges of the screen.. No its not becoz of some screen guard or some theme.. I even change the whole rom jst to check whether its the fault of the rom or the display.. I even changed colour saturatuon but that yellowish tint never goes. .It mainly appears on white background. I can clearly see whn i go to settings as it has white background ..
I dnt knw anyone personally who has redmi note 4g to check if everone is stuck up with this prob or jst me.. If anyone is facing same issue then plz post here
Is there any solution to it..?? I stay in india (mumbai) and phns warranty is still not void..

Could be caused by moisture. Do you bring your phone with you in wet environment? (eg. shower) In that case just avoid that places in the future (or put phone into a transparent plastic bag, like I do)
Or it could be a hardware related problem. Screen was always yellow from the beginning or it changed at some time?
That could b d one reason.. I use phn in bathroom sometimes too listen music..
I exchanged this phn.. Originally it was of my dad.. So i doubt if yellow tint was from beginning or it appeared now
But thanks anyways.. I will try to keep in plastic to get rid of moisture.. And wil tel u if this prob gets solved or not

Its happening with my Note 4g too
I have a slight tint on bottom pane of my screen. It appears to be not going .
Should i be concerned about this as anybody else got this same issue and has anyone fixed this or shall i take my note 4g to a service center?
Please advice.
Thanks,
Akhil

I know I am replying to an old post. But, there isn't any other thread on this matter.
I've got the same issue. I will try to remove the screen guard and check.
yellow tint appear in my phone also when the phone was delivered on 24 Jan. Even old MI 4i and Red mi Note 3 screen are clear and white in comparison to new Redmi note 4. Highly disappointed, made every setting/test updated the phone and also provided details to Mi Service for replacement. MI service although acknowledges the yellow defect but they are not replacing as per replacement policy EVEN WITHIN 15 HOURS OF DELIVERY. Yellowness is defect.
Very bad experience from MI SUPPORT.
You can compare new Red mi note 4 with Mi4i and will feel difference.
Very poor MI service in terms of replacement of note4

strange colours on screen

Hello i just bought s10+ well o had s9 plus, i dont see any differences.. only the colour of the screen is kinda purple why?
I tried to change the white balance nothing changed
Anyone?
Please?
I mean when I change point of view while watching my phone it's kinda purple :/ does anyone notice such a thing?
if there is a screen protector remove it.
There should not be any purple tinge. Did you buy the phone new? If not check that the finger sensor works, as it might be a after market screen. If it's new, then return it.

No, have never seen any amoled screen do this. Usually a tn panel shows this type of behaviour. Does the in screen finger print reader work?

It could be 2 things if you see like pink/purple coloring on screen especially on white background that's burn in
Another thing s9+ that i had under display there used to be an option in screen mode i can't remember the name i think it was called Cool or something that gave the screen than pinkish purple hue
Fingerprint working fine
He said he didnt change any screen and we would tell me
Also he had many positive feedbacks on the site that i purchased it
Might be something with purple or red colour settings
:/ Dont know..

I wish i could help you i know the feeling when you buy tech and you trust that there's nothing wrong with it but end up with problems.
Try making a few screenshots of the settings inside display and the home page post it here
