ok.. I was reading about the screen on Nokia Lumia 920. It supposed to be super sensitive and all. the screen will register to your finger nails and such.. i just tried using the screen with my nail and it worked smoothly with accuracy. But i dont remember being able to do so in ICS... can someone confirm this?

This definitely answered his question
"I just tried using the screen with my nail and it worked smoothly with accuracy. But i dont remember being able to do so in ICS... can someone confirm this?"
Here's a hint: it's also known as the placebo effect.
the screen's accuracy is still the same within both versions.
I clicked your link,
hit CTRL-F
and type placebo
no match.
FAIL.
obviously, you have no idea what placebo effect is.
also obviously, my hint is a summary of why the OP thinks that JB suddenly makes the screen more accurate to fingernails..
and finally, please stop failing as hard as you are failing right now.
EDIT: if you want to search for the keyword because reading is too hard, here it is: Surface capacitance
Obviously you cannot, it is a CAPACITIVE touchscreen !:cyclops:

All the OP wanted to know if this can be done also on ICS and you gave him a wikipedia article. That made sense.
the answer to that was in the article. it's a capacitive screen. It does not matter which version of android you're running. it will still recognize the touch. My HTC Vision is running GB and guess what, it's still picking up all taps from my fingers, nails or no nails.
You're smoking some serious crack if you think that an OS update will somehow turn the screen into a hybrid resistive/capacitive screen.

Like i said, a simple yes or a no was all he need. Is it the same case as ICS? Stop acting like a smart a**.
I'll never ask you a road direction, you might give me a wikipedia article. Lol
I hope to never see you ask me for directions. You would drive yourself off a cliff when I tell you to stick to the highways.
That link is there to show that the ability to register touches are not limited by the OS nor will it ever somehow be physically changed by a software update.
Of course I know what is placebo effect. But you can't even say so in your first reply.
obviously you just want to act smart.
Why don't give him an ISBN number of a book instead of wikipedia link.

I reported a few weeks ago about my keyboard being an arsehole, it's happening to me two or three times a day, and I will have to reset my phone etc. etc. to fix it. I get nervous while writing messages, as I just have a feeling it's going to happen, it makes me want to not text.
I <3 this phone, and I <3 Android. I don't want another phone, I love the Xperia Play.
Anyone got any ideas?
Have a look, I took a video of it. It basically registers other touches on the screen while texting that I just didn't make...

As you can see it also happens when I just HOLD the screen, not even tapping.
It usually happens with . -> ALT and BKSP -> Z

You think that there's a hardware fault? I unlocked the bootloader, if I relock it, they won't know the difference and it'll be covered under warranty, right?
Maybe its just the keyboard.apk ? Try another keyboard app and see if it doesnt help...

Try a different keyboard before you try a warranty claim.
Look for HTC IME Gingerbread on these forums, it much better than stock too.
I am having the same issue, and I USE SWYPE.
It seems to happen when my fingers are really warm, usually when I've been on the laptop for a while.
Also, when I come out of the bath, and dry off, just after, the texting just goes insane and keeps beeping at me and pressing other buttons instead. It is so frustrating.
What's strange is that when I turn it into qwerty landscape.. it doesn't do it as much. Still does occasionally, but generally will fix my issue.
I doubt it is a hardware fault. Maybe it's my screen protector being odd.

It's not terrible for me. It's just the way our screen is.
Our screen was built for -> battery saving, that's why color reproduction has problems.
And for me the choice paid off, I am getting the best battery life than with any android smartphone.
If color reproduction was more important to you, you shouldn't have bought an Atrix.
Supposedly pentile screens also have advantages with sunlight visibility. My wife has an HTC Desire S, and it is literally unviewable in the Sun and yet mine remained completely usable and clear. She was not impressed and I was left gloating

Its too bad some color panel hidden behind the scenes couldn't be accessed to correct the color. It would have been a top contender for some time to come. Love how big the battery is.
Have they ported cm7 to it yet? Are they still doing the 2nd init hack or has the bootloader been unlocked?

wasn't trying to upset you.
but if we're on that wave, if you're well aware of the problem and searching only netted you no new answers, what did you expect asking would do? net you more non-new answers.
The Atrix screen indeed makes everything a little "bluer" (are your yellows slightly green?).
I read that in CM7 you can alter the color scheme a little bit, or there's an app that can also do this...I'd have to search a little bit to find what I'm talking about, but I'll post a link in just a sec.
Edit: this is what I was thinking of...Might not be exactly what you're looking for, as it requires you to have CM7 it looks like (not that that's a bad thing, but of course it's still in pre-beta and you might not want to use it). It's a start though, and gives you a little more info.

It not a huge deal (can't really tell a huge difference)

Considering the front camera is still not working on any ICS build that I know of for the Evo4G, I wouldn't think it would be talked about much as one would definitely be important for the other.
This doesn't seem like it would be all that secure. Does it distinguish between your real face or a picture of your face that can be placed in front of the camera?
It scans and maps features on your face.
And to the OP, until the front camera is working in any ICS rom, we wont have it. It cant be ported to a Gingerbread rom.

Facial recognition is nice, but really easy to bypass. Japan tried facial recognition in cigarette vending machines to determine age, and kids just ended up holding up pictures of older people to bypass. Still works on the ICS facelock. Until they incorporate multi angle unlocks, it will be too easy to bypass for my liking.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Facial recognition will never be truly secure until the photo sensors can map in 3d to differentiate between a 2d and 3d image or until they incorporate a laser scanner that scans the 3d texture of a face along with the photo recognition
We are legion, for we are many.
Well, if you could get the software to recognize a partial sweep (as in turning your head from left to right), then that would be a bit more secure. Or at least have it take 3 screen captures (3/4 right, dead on, and 3/4 left) then it would be a bit more difficult to bypass.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Yeah its still being worked on by the devs, but it is really nothing more then a party gab, I wouldn't use it, the new ics face unlock could be defeated by a picture, so it really isnt secure...but yeah

Will do. I just blew up my Touchpad trying out some camera libraries so once it is reloaded I will get this back on and get some good testing in.
Mental note: Grabbing random libraries from rootzwiki and putting them in your system folder is usually a recipe for trouble...but a good excuse to get upgraded to a new rom release
Edit: Ok, back in the game and on the latest CN release (0.1.0v2 ODEXED)
I am running Touchscreen Test now and so far it is tracking 10 points without any issues. Jittering and jumping that I saw before seem to have gone away and I am left with much smoother lines. Still jagged but smoother overall.
Typing on thumb keyboard is showing some improvements in accuracy and so far I have yet to get a double typed letter.
One mini-golf game I play alot does seem to be improved. I have not had the jumping issue that I use to have randomly.
So far no negative effects. Fruit Ninja is up next for testing
I have noticed that with this, my Touchpad no longer has a tendency to select something that is right above the area I touched.
V11 for CM9 had just been posted. No changes to touchscreen but code added that may save some battery life.

I use S Note for storing recipes, as I like to do a bit of cooking and I can easily capture text and images from recipe sites into S Note - ready to test the recipes whenever I feel like it. I also use it for any other general notes that I need to take, but I utilise S Memo for taking memos. This means any tasks or reminders, which I link into S Planner, or a shopping list for example.

Yes, S Note is very immature peace of software. Especially its hand writing recognition is a joke. Useless. The only usable is MyScript Note, ported from Lenovo. I think this company delivered its engine for S Note's math formula, thats the only feature usable.
