Battery charging issue (or not?!? ) - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Ive just got myself a nexus 7, my first android tab!
Ive searched around for the issue and found similar problems but none exactly the same!?
I plug my nexus in, and nothing happens. It says and does nothing.
Ive tried my ipad charger, different cables, and nothing.
Ive checked my the battery info on the settings however, and it says it is not charging, even though according to the chart it is, albeit a tad slow (putit on charge at around 40%,at around 5.00-5.30, its now 9.30 at 98% and still rising)
If i turn it off the battery charging symbol(s) come up.
Is there any fixes? Ive tried 4-5 different cables, 2 chargers, all the same.
Its not put me off android tabs or anything, the tab so far is mint and is alot more fun than my ipad!!

Try flashing a new ROM or flash the factory image from Google, tbh it doesn't seem like a major problem, its just an issue with the battery animation in the status bar.
Also you should use the proper charger, not sure of the output on the iPad charger but this one is 2.0a whereas my gnex charger is 0.7a.

Thanks! Im gonna try wiping it shortly i am using the asus charger now, and the ipad charger is the same output as the asus one! (ipads have beefier chargers than the phones)
Im not too fussed as most of the time ill leave it to charge overnight anyway. Its up to 100% too now, only really a 5hr first charge?!

OK that'll probably sort it for you and if not then flashing a factory image is pretty straightforward and puts it back to basic stock everything fresh and new.
ah OK that's good to know about the iPad charger!

Not really, but its not a problem worth fretting over, just do it once you get home. It still charges so its just an aesthetic issue really.
Don't worry about it.

G1 Running on Nokia Battery

Hey Guys Just supplying some information.
My Sensation suffered the dust under screen issue and it has been sent back for repair, in the mean time ive come back to the G1 after picking one up for $50 I used it for about 30 minutes before finding out the battery in it is stuffed.
I have managed to get a 1000mah Nokia BL-5C battery up and running in it with little modification (small plastic strip to hold battery in place as its slightly smaller.
It does not charge in the phone, im guessing this is due to Nokia's Pulse charging and not constant charging but I will be making a usb ended nokia charger which hopefully feeds the battery what it wants. I have two Nokia batterys and have just been using the old nokia for charging and swapping batteries when needed.
If the charger mod works, ill post up so photos of how ive done it all for anyone interested.
Also tested it with my g1 phone, wrks fine

Mmmm, my phone half caught fire.

Just went to charge my phone, saw that it wasn't charging. Tried a different cable, reset phone, etc and then I noticed a burning smell, I just thought it was someone cooking outside (its nice weather) until I held the phone next to my face and I could smell that electrical burning smell coming from the Micro USB.
Funny thing is, the phone works fine, but I cannot charge it.
So now?

You need to charge your battery with an external device.
I think you can buy this at some eletronics store.

Now I plan on taking it back today to the store today (it's under a year old).
It's rooted and ROM'ed but I do not see how that could be an issue.
The reason I'm posting this thread really was for reference, seems like a rather strange defect that came out of nowhere.
mind sharing ur phone setup; ROM, kernel

Sure, but I am 99.9% sure it has nothing to do with the phone going bang,
ROM: Jellybro - A release from sometime a week or so ago.
Kernel: *Matr1x* - 22.5 (CFS)

Sent to the store today. The guy opened the box and that electrical smell filled the room. He believe the battery may have gone pop (which makes sense, sorta*) and that he'll send the whole unit away to (hopefully) get it fixed, and I should get it back in about a week (which means I am stuck with my Motorola Milestone D: ).
* I say sorta because the phone refused to charge but the battery life was perfectly fine meaning it didn't die quickly or anything like that so I am a little confused as to how it could be the battery yet the battery life was perfectly normal.

[Q] Nexus 7 won't Charge

After not using my Nexus 7 for about two months I plugged it in to charge it up. I came back to it in 30 minutes to check the progress and to doodle around while plugged in and it wouldn't turn on. There was no sign of life at all. I pushed the buttons on the side in multiple combinations with no results.
This thing has barely been used. A few pdf downloads; a movie; some writing's. Nothing major. It's bone stock except for the first upgrade on day one to the new Jelly bean.
Pretty frustrated.

Bump. Really? No one one this board has run into this or knows about this? I can't believe the Nexus 7 is that bad that letting it sit for two months would kill the battery. Would an Ipad do this? Just looking for a liottle help here.
I have heard of this. Seems some models don't take well to dying. Send it in for RMA. You will probably get the issue fixed permanently which I'm sure Asus is aware of.

Before you do that you might want to try a different micro USB cable if you have one and/or plug your nexus into your computer USB and see if it charges that way to check if your Asus charger is having any issues.

[Q] Wireless charging not working correctly.

I got the official Nexus 4 wireless charger from Google around a month ago. I constantly use Tunein Radio, and like to use JellyDream Daydream Pro when I put my Nexus 4 to wirelessly charge on my desk. I have noticed that my phone will not charge and remain with the same battery percentage for hours, and many times even continue discharging (slower than usual though). I was wondering if this is normal, or if there might be a problem with my wireless charger/phone. My phone is rooted, but I don't think it's the rom that I'm using, because I have tried both Paranoid Android, and AOKP with the same results. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I am having the same issue. All I have changed on the phone is the kernel and have always been on stock rom. It's really annoying because it worked perfectly fine before I flashed kernels. Now I can even flash back to the stock kernel and it will still not work right. Jumps in and out of charging and then finally just stops charging all together and I have a fancy phone stand that does nothing. I'm still trying to tackle the problem but no luck so far.

Yeap, apart from what I said on the main post, I have also experience my Nexus 4 jumping in and out of charging and then not wanting to charge at all.
Maybe you are discharging the battery faster than the wireless charger can charge it? Using tunein radio and daydream will do that.

[Q] Battery will NOT hold charge. No solution. HELP

Yes, I know I know this question has been asked a million times on here. I have tried looking through past forums & none hold my unique problem. Just please, help you guys. OH MY GOD! My phone will not hold its charge and ive literally tried EVERTHING. I have a nexus galaxy and one night it decides to not charge after I connect to about 3 different chargers. I take it to Sprint & they tell me the port is busted so they replace it & it works fine. I charge it at home & the little battery icon says its charging but the battery itself is getting lower & lower. That makes no sense. How could it obviously say its charging but the freaking battery not charge? so I go in again & they give me a new battery. Still to no avail. I even bought a new charger and when I come home to charge it, the battery gets lower as if its not being charged. the lock screen says its charging but when I log into the phone & check the battery options on settings, it says its not. its so frustrating and I don't know what else to do. please help! is it probably something internally wrong with the phone to where I have to replace it to a whole new one?
Wrong section bud. This isn't the nexus galaxy forum, it's the nexus 4 forum.
