Hello,
I am new to the TPT forums and just rooted my TPT and flashed CM10. Prior to flashing, I used TIBU to backup apps. I have typically backed up only user apps in my previous android devices, and believed (apparently wrongfully) doing so this time would back up the Lenovo apps such as Notes Mobile since I wanted to continue using the stylus/pen. Well, TIBU didn't back up the Notes Mobile. My questions are therefore as follows:
1. Aside from Notes Mobile, are there any other "stock" Lenovo apps which use the pen functionality? I only recall this app.
2. Is there any way to obtain the apk for Notes Mobile and (if any) the other Lenovo apps which use the pen functionality?
3. What are some good third party apps that are good alternatives to the Lenovo apps, or any apps which can be used with the pen?
I would also like to thank the forum members and developers for their contributions to maximizing the TPT's functionality.

I tried to install the "Notes Mobile" apk from stock ICS rom several ways.
1.Back up and restore via Titanium Backup
2.Copying the "Notes Mobile" apk into the system/app folder in CM10 rom and changing the permissions
3.Installing the "Notes Mobile" apk from the internal sd card
With all 3 methods, the app installed but when trying to open, a window opened, essentially stating that the version of the app was not compatible with the device.
I did an online search, and found an older version of "Notes Mobile" which was ported to the HTC flyer and which apparently installed on the Nexus 7. Since Nexus 7 is a jelly bean rom, I figured it would install on the TPT with CM10. Here is the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892032
I did install and it seems to work fine. However, it is an older version of the app, and seems to been optimized for a smaller screen.
Is there anyone who can get the "Notes Mobile" apk from the stock ICS rom on the TPT to work on CM10?
Thanks in advance
In my backup the app is separated in 28 apk files which have to be inside /system/app. Where did you install it to and how?

With method 1 (Titanium Backup), I merely backed up the 20-something files that began or had reference to Notes Mobile in the stock ICS rom and then "restored" using TIBU after flashing CM10.
With method 2 (copy and paste Notes Mobile apk), I copied the apk from the ICS system/app file (only saw the 1 "Notes Mobile" apk unlike TIBU), and pasted it in the internal sd card. After flashing CM10, I copied and pasted the apk into the system/app folder and changed permissions to the same permissions as those apks already in the folder.
With method 3, I tried to install the apk from the internal sd card.
Thanks for the assistance!

I thought I had used Titanium Backup to make backups of my base system, not realizing that it didn't make APK backups.
I then proceeded to remove a few packages here and there. Unfortunately I accidentally deleted the Samsung Program Monitor Widget and the Samsung App Store (or whatever it's called), which means I can't update the Social Hub program.
Could send me a copy of their own APKs that I could use to restore my phone to stock apps/settings?
there is a topic in the application section with all the APK from the stock i9000 ROM
search for it
My wife has a NC and likes it the way it is, i.e. BN store, but I would like to add an app that does not require root. I was thinking that I could use a clockwork recovery SD card with a zip of the app, just like we do with google apps.
Will this work?
How do I make a apk into a flashable zip?
The app is You Version Bible
Thanks
-EDIT-
So I have figured this out, it is possible to install apps (that do not require root) with out rooting anything. I would call it side loading via CWM sd card.
The key was to use the mount paths from ManualNooter (\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script)
0.1.) Get apks for you apps (either with titanium or copy from 'data/app')
0.2.) Get a apk for 'Nook Color App Manager' (search the android market, can't post links yet)
1.) Start with the ManualNooter file and remove all folders but 'data' and 'META-INF'
2.) Delete all files in the 'data/app' folder
3.) Place the apks you want to install in the 'data/app' folder
4.) Edit '\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script' using a programing text editor (otherwise you will not see the line spaces) remove all sections except the following: 'Mounting partitions...' 'Installing apks to /data/app...' 'Unmounting Partitions...'
5.) Save the script file and put all this back together in the zip.
6.) Use the CWM sd card to install the file. (if you don't know how, use google)
7.) Remove card and reboot after done. A new app App Manager will show up in your nook app list, go to the home page to run it and add links for your new installed apps.
Note: I did not post an files as I used other peoples work i.e. GMPOWER and apps from the market
So I have done lots of research and even tried this. I think I got the app installed but in this case there is no way to show the app in the stock launcher as it only lists apps it installs.
For reference I will include the procedure to install apps via CMW(Clockwork Mod Recovery)
Thread
You download the file attached to post 17 in the above thread, it is a empty zip that can be filled with your apks that you want. Simply place the new file on a CWM sd card and install the file via regular instructions in the above post.
If I ever find a script to add a link to the stock launcher I will post that and then this might be a usable idea for side loading apps.
Dear all,
Yesterday I updated my P7510 to ICS using the UK ICS release and rooted the thing properly. I managed to delete some of the preinstalled apps using RootExplorer in the \system\app folder, but for example I cannot find the apk to get rid of Pulse (what is the name of the apk in this case). Is it located somewhere else or is there another folder in which apps are stored as well? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Although I can help you with the location, manually deleting the apps from /system/app seems like to much "work". Just get Titanium Backup and uninstall (and probably backup first) Pulse and all the other via the app.
Thanks for your reply. In the mean time I kicked out all unwanred preinstalled apps manually, so I am only looking for the apk name of pulse
I found that some apps were just "Installed" have you tried to just uninstall them?

Not all apps are installed to /system/apps when you ODIN flash, check /data/app for the Pulse.
Right.
So, when I open up .ext3 files in 7zip I notice they have "users" and "modes".
Things I'm curious of:
1. How can I remove apps in my ROM via .ext3 editing?
2. How can I install apps in my ROM (via .ext3 editing)?
3. Just simply removing the .apk for, let's say, the Phone app (BlurPhone.apk) and putting a different apk named Phone.apk, but with the same function and simply being a port from a different phone, will it be a issue?
4. GO Launcher EX/Go Locker - can it be installed in a ROM?...
Also, I got some issues regarding the MD5 Sum ("mismatched " but it actually is a duplicate ). Was it because I had a vanilla copy of my backup in the backup folder?..
Bump?...
Firtst if all, learn to make an cwm zip , its much easier to make changes that way.
To remove an app, just remove the apk file. Do the opposite when adding apps.
Any launcher can be added to rom.

thanks, but sadly I'm not going to develop 4.0/4.1 stuff, only 2.3 skins for the moment. Thanks for the help tho
Another (kinda random, but hey): how's the lockscreen app named?...Or is it a sub-part of a motoblur app?
I have a newly rooted Nook Simple Touch (NST) that was updated to firmware 1.2.1 before NookManager worked its magic.
The problem is that now I cannot take advantage of the Kindle App, ES File Explorer, or NGAppsAttack because I have no way to install anything.
Here is what I am running into.
1. I cannot install from the browser that came installed when NookManager did it's thing because it appears to have a problem with the certificate for any site except the default Barnes & Noble page, rendering my browser useless.
2. I cannot use a file explorer, such as ES File Explorer, to install a new version of the certificates or a new browser because one didn't come with NookManager's install and I have only ADB Konnect, Contacts, Device Registrator, Gallery, Library, Music, Nook Friends, Nook Touch Mod Manager, Nook HW Test, Settings, Shop, Social (doesn't work), SuperUser, and TestCenterService. I uninstalled Amazon AppStore because it didn't work and I read elsewhere that it was no longer working.
3. I cannot use the market app because there are no versions already installed, begging the question - now how do I install stuff without a browser, market, or file explorer?
I tried using NookManager to install things by following the directions elsewhere and extracting apps from their zip folders directly to the root directory of the NookManager MicroSD card. That failed on every app I tried because when I booted the NST off the NookManager card, there was no option for Custom under More! I even tried modifying the menu text file using Notepad++ to add the Custom -> menu item under button 4, but when the Custom menu came up there was no button response. Evidently, it couldn't find the APK files extracted to the root (in this case E:\) when I tried the extraction method.
Does anyone have a better idea? I mean, I'm not a programmer - so although there is probably a way to do it through ADB Konnect, I would need someone to explain it in baby steps.
Maybe I could image the SD card with an image that just installs apps?
Thanks!

You should be able to copy an apk file to the SD card and use the folder browser of Relaunch (which was installed during root) to install the package. Just open the folder where you copied the apk from your PC to the SD card and touch on the apk file.
If you need some apk files like ES, a browser, etc., check out my post here which includes a link to a zip file of potentially useful apps.
The certificates issue has recently been addressed. Look here and read a little further in the thread for some simplifications. But the resident browser is worthless and can be uninstalled.

I appreciate the advice. I will try that out when I have some time later today and let you know if it worked.
I just didn't realize that I could use Re-Launch to browse for a folder.
