Battery stuck at 100 percent - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a strange problem on my n7. After fully charging and unplucking, the battery indicator will show 100 percent for about an hour. Better battery stats is also reporting 100 percent for an hour.
I'm currently running pa 2.20 but also had this problem on slim bean and stock. I think it started after I used the Franco kernel for some time. At least, that's when I first noticed it.
Installing a new rom, a factory reset, relocking and unlocking the bootloader and reinstalling stock all did not help.
Does anybody have an idea what's going on here and how I can solve this problem?

I confirm this problem, happened to me a couple of times but a simple reboot fixes the problem

Assuming you have CWM recovery, have you reset the battery stats, it worth a go.

I know that Franco Kernel use a custom Ramdisk, that even when flashing a new kernel it may not get overwritten, whether this could affect the battery stats, you would have to ask him.
I asked in bricked kernel dev forum, if it was required to flash a new boot.img when loading new custom kernel, and the answer was only if coming from a Franco Kernel, due to his custom ramdisk.
I know that following this guide will return you to stock everything, including the ramdisk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796
. In theory you can just flash a stock boot.img via fastboot and achieve the same result, you lose root and all, but I've never done it, only restored a factory image via adb.

showing 100% for an hour or more is normal while using. if sleeping it could show 100% for several or more hours. it actually shows 100% when the real capacity is at 95%. if you leave it plugged in after it shows 100%, you can charge the battery a bit more.

Could you elaborate? I didn't have this on any other android device i used and I can't really see how giving obviously false battery stats could be normal.

I flashed it, and then flashed faux's kernel on top, w/ no problems... but then I flashed my custom framework and systemui (just cosmetic changes), and I don't know if it was that or my current theme chooser theme, but some of the framework-res images were messed up, and my battery had jumped from 92% to 20%... plus the power menu had changed... standard reboot option now, now longer have the three reboot choices... I just re-flashed my backup I made before hand.
The image issues I had where most likely my fault.
The battery jump of 70% - got me??
The power menu changes - part of new nightly??
Mine hasn't changed other than faux's kernel so far. I also have an option for gsm/wcdma(auto mode) gsm/ only wcdma only and gsm/wcda (wcdma preferred) in network settings.

Honestly I really haven't noticed anything yet. To busy trying to restore all my missing apps first to see if I still have issues with system stopping responding and phone shutting down.
Dialer and keybaord are the same. Didn't do a wipe before I installed so I assume it just updated?

That wouldn't work since doing factory reset on stock recovery doesn't modify system partition. What he can do however is just grab a gallery app from one of us and placing it on system/app and fixing the permission then reboot.

Can you send me your 4.2.1 files?!?!?! I have no clue where I am going wrong with installing the camera
Have this exact problem.
Cause (I believe):
Using this I manually upped video quality:
[MOD] Increase Camera Audio/Video/Image Quality

*********Dropped phone, front screen fully smashed, has screen replaced by carphone warehouse **********************

Can't use OTA update to upgrade from 4.2.1 so flashed using the full image under section C from the ultimate nexus 4 root guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179
Installed superuser, root explorer, recovery is flashed to clockworkmod and is working.
I can access only front end camera only. Back end camera does not even appear to switch in camera app. (only accessible by lockscreen widget, no app in system drawer)
googlegallery.apk and odex has incorrect permissions.
Changed to: rwxr--r-- on both.
Rebooted, this has not resolved the fault.
Any further assistance would be super appreciated.
any ideas guys? I believe this is a software issue and not a hardware fault. As if it was a hardware fault the camera app in the app drawer would still appear.
Hey guys,

Not sure why you quoted me. Afa the ROM failing when you try flashing, Have you tried redownloading the zip? No one else has reported the ROM not flashing and the only problem that was posted so far has been the Chromcast issue. Try redownloading the ROM, wipe dalvik, system, and when you finish flashing wipe dalvik once again before you boot up.

Hey again guys! It seems like I'm one of the only people posting here, but that's alright. So I updated to the unified 4/9/14 build a week or so ago and, ever since, my battery has been draining like crazy. For example, I just unplugged my phone from my charger, used to for about two minutes and it's been on standby since, but the battery is already down 5%. When I'm actually using the phone, the battery drops extremely quickly. Before, I never had to charge my phone mid-day, but now the battery gets drained 20 or 30% with 45 minutes of use, which seems a bit excessive to me (I'm usually just browsing the web). Do you guys know what may be going on?

I PM'd AT&T and the suggested I make more space. I looked and my cache was at 1.8GB. Cleared out and removed a couple apps I don't use, and ran it again. Then poof!!! It worked.

5.1.1 os OK, but seems like all the same magic mirrors...
Visually I see nothing new or different. Performance wise it's responding quicker. I haven't factory reset it yet. Waiting to see if it is necessary.
Battery Drain
Anyone else, other than StaticMoot and myself, seeing quicker battery drain with 5.1.1?
Further research http://www.sammobile.com/2015/07/17...ting-you-on-your-galaxy-s6-or-galaxy-s6-edge/.... shows that plenty of people are suffering from faster drain now. Solutions? Factory wipe? Should I post a new thread? Any ideas?
(I'm stock and on ATT)
Cheers
Factory reset solved it for me. Actually getting really good battery life now.

So did you factory reset and keep the old/stock android version, or did you factory reset and then upgrade again? My battery life has been absolutely terrible ever since the first update back in like March or April. Maybe a factory reset would help with that.

Note 4 from verizon dies at ~35%

I have the note 4 from verizon, rooted with xpossed and running JASMINE ROM 7.0 and every time I'm using my phone at ~35% it thinks it's dead n shuts it's self down without the shutdown process it just goes to a black screen. Then it attempts to reboot but gets stuck in a bootloop until I plug it in then it reads 34 or 35%. I have colaborated the battery with root essentials app from Google play store. On the other hand when I'm not using it it dies around 20% it does the same thing. Is this a hardware or software issue?

Unfortunately dialing *#0228# doesn't work on my current ROM, do you know of an app or another way I can access this menu?

I am facing the same problem the link which was given to you won't solve the issue so i think it's a software related or it's a "bug".. mine shuts down at 15 to 10% and goes into a bootloop..
So my recommendation is do not attempt to do anything. buying a new battery or factory reseting your phone will not solve this problem i tried every method in xda
Just use it as it's hoping that next update solves this problem "fingercrossd"
Cheers

I was trying out this ROM [ROM][6.0.1]Nseven [N910VVZW2CPL1][1/10/2017]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/note-4-grace-7-t3434155/page233 and in the post there's a kernel that I flashed to be able to install the ROM and after using the ROM I decided to restore my phone from a backup on TWRP and didn't re flash my boot img and my battery seems to last longer. I did have to re install supersu binary from TWRP to get it working but my phone battery seems to be working much better then before. Here's the kernel link from OP or u can find it in the link above BeastMode-Kernel_2_ZL.zip - OneDrive
https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=...1517&parId=6729B30E83B8764C!185&action=locate I would recommend to test it I'm not sure if it actually helped or not but it seems to have just wanted to let you know as an idea or an option i guess.

*Update My first battery cycle lasted till 4% after i took the screen shot within 2 min phone died
I am on the 2nd cycle now, my max battery cycle for the battery to calibrate probably is 5 full cycles if the problem remains.. my only solution is a custom rom and kernel.
