[Q] Straight Talk issues after ICS update

Hi all,
So, I finally got the ICS update via Kies (not OTA, through USB) 3 days ago. Since then, my internet speeds seem to have tanked I did the factory reset twice, and tried both APN settings, the one that came with ST and the one that has been posted here (one for internet and one for MMS). Prior to the update, I could easily get 4-6mb down and 1.5mb up; now it's hardly 1-2mb down and not even 1mb up. Did I screw something up?
BTW, I'm running stock, unrooted, ICS 4.0.3
Baseboard: N7000XXLPT
Kernel: 3.0.15-N7000XXLQ2-CL605927
Build: IML74K.XXLQ2
Has anybody else experienced the same thing? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm a beginner also.
Does anyone know if I have to revert back to stock GB before I connect to Kies for the ICS update?
Most importantly, can I revert back to Stock GB if I don't like this update? (I would PC Odin Stock GB ROM, zergrush for root).
Sorry I couldn't answer the question above, but I would gladly try out the ICS update if my above two questions can be answered. I just want to be safe before I proceeded.

I was on ICS for a brief moment and reverted because of well documented bricking risk. My guess is your apn's where off a bit, or maybe the modem needs to be switched.
But thats the least of your worries. Because you did a reset you may have damaged your eMMC .... that's the bug.
For now you need to get a safe kernel on there.
1. root your ICS
2. mobile odin a SAFE kernel
DO NOT WIPE AGAIN until....

Franco r4 and above. Speedmod as well. The cm9 based ones are safe, but won't work with your version of ICS.

+ 1 for speedmod

I too have installed ics on my device and now m facing lots of problems. Just to start with my WHATSApp is not loading contacts.
It takes time to open camera.
Phone stops responding while reading emails.
Keyboard input problems
Please some one do help us.
Is there any way to again go back to my 2.3.6.
One mo thing face detection and other features are disabled by Samsung in his ics update.

I had sane problem. What I did was reset it. Under apn settings, press options button on the phone and choose reset to default.
Worked a dream after that

Wow, I'm really shocked. This is ICS Update over Kies from Samsung. Not a leaked ICS ROM he got from a friend.
I am in disbelief that Samsung would allow us to receive this bug over their official Kies method.
Is this verified? The ICS that Samsung gives over Kies also has the eMMC bug?

Sorry, just did a quick XDA search, I couldn't find a definitive answer that the ICS Update via Kies from Samsung has eMMC bug. But they're all saying STOCK or Custom ICS ROM, DO NOT WIPE OR FACTORY RESET.

Just did a more extensive eMMC search. From this post I found this note.
All ICS official releases for the Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) as of late May 2012 - This includes XXLPY, ZSLPF, and DXLP9, and future kernels should be assumed affected until further notice.
To my understanding is, Samsung is shipping out updates that will brick your phone. WTF?!?!

Please do NOT use Wipe Data/Factory Reset. It is the main difference between first and 2nd round of testing and is the current suspect

My newest issue seems to be unable to send a text message now! WTF? I would have dealt with slower data until I figured out how to go about fixing my damaged eMMC (if it's damaged, that is). Good grief!

[Q] Where did i go wrong? Flashing Rom

Ok so just got my nexus 7 and decided to unlock/root and install cwm after that got the goo app to install TWRP got the CM10 rom and the gapps wiped devlark and every thing but now im stuck at the little boot screen with cyanogenmod logo? I suffer from a brain dis-function and find it hard to understand so maybe im missing something please can some one help me been on this for near 3 days trying to fig it all out and now have come to a stop as iv messed it up some how

Do i need to factory reset and do system wipe aswell maybe thats the answer?

Well i did a factory reset along with the other wipes and has worked but now i can not get the keyboard to come up it just says it has crash

could it be that i may of installed the wrong gapps?

Well i came to the conclusion thats installing the gapps was where i was going wrong. I now have it working and keyboard works fine now trial and error prevailed prob risky but hey figured it out in the end. I now have CM10 4.1 running on it if there any known issues maybe someone out there (if there is anyone besides me lol) would b kind enough to tell me and maybe advise me on another ROM or a better ROM to try. I just want to get a really good look and feel to my already great nexus 7. Kind Regards Sirus2012

yeah some spam? I was looking for answers but guess wat no one replyed joke site really kept it up to date with progress just incase some was willing to help. people should really remember that they was new at modding at one point and advice is always good if u know it. Not like i didnt look for answers just all answers got me confused. guess some people just ignorant

If you try flashing CM10 and you can't accomplish anything because your keyboard is force closing, it's probably your gapps.
You need the 4.1 gapps, not 4.2. CM10 is not 4.2.
That is all.

I wouldn't touch the DevTools app. It's mainly for developers to be able to see process and other things to make sure that their apps/ROMs are running properly "behind the scenes".
I am planning on hiding it from the AppDrawer, I just haven't gotten around to it yet, sorry!
It will be removed in the next build :highfive:

SD card Error
Whenever I install this ROM it never reads my SD card. I have wiped data/system, cache and dalvich and still won't read it.

You'll have to do some searching but it has to do with the way the SD is formatted. There was a lot of talk in the CM11 thread about that. Sorry, can't offer up any more...

Does this occur with certain apps?
I know with apps like Titanium backup or Hide it pro I have to go into settings and point the app back to the SD card before info can be recognized. For example go into Titanium backup and under preferences choose SD card and the info is then read from it.

Watchon
Is there anyway to get Samsung Watchon to work with this ROM yet? When I attempt to download it the playstore says its not compatible with my galaxy s4

They have disabled the ir function right now but they said they will enable it later. Till then Samsung watchon from the play store will say not compatible

IR is working. someone else broke the core system so last I heard people were saying IR was broken again.

WIll it work with mk2
I just updated my modem to mk2. Will this ROM still work with this modem or will I have call or text problems that would lead me to flash back to MDL.

From experience I tried 4 various modems until I found the one that works on my S4 I9505 from Australia, i even tried flashing modems with a different country code than my stock 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Sami.. Basically keep trying till you find what works for you

Activation??
Whnever i do a clean install of the rom - my phone tries to reactive itself by calling *22899 and then the next screen it tries to activate data. Both of these activation steps are failing and my data connection has become really weak. Anything I can do to fix this? (I updated prl and profile before installing the rom - i also wiped cache,factory reset/wipe data,format system, format dalvik cache)

Becausethe S4 is using a Qualcomm chip i am curios whether i would benefit from it. So here comes my quastion. Is OmniRom already using this, or as mentionend in the thread, another more optimzied version of bionic, dalvik or both (Quote: "don't use the bionic patch on CyanogenMod, PSX and probably others, because they already have more optimized versions!") ? Dirty Unicorns 11 is the first built from source custom ROM for Google Pixel

Outstanding.
My favorite ROM is possibly just hours from being released to the public.
This ROM is typically soooo stable and features tons of customization.
I imagine we'll have to wait for all the usual features to be added.
I mean, it is the FIRST to drop.
This is still a fresh ROM and will likely have some ironing out to be done but that is what the ROM world is all about.

Yes. Seems fine, a little laggy compared to stock imho. And camera is lacking. I went back to stock as I couldn't get the official camera on play store. I've extracted the apk and will test a other day. Lazy.

Seems snappy for me. Got this error FAILED (remote: partition table doesn't exist) when trying to flash the vendor, but it still booted and works fine (gave me a an old vendor error on first boot, but doesn't seem to have affected anything

Camera was as fast as stock pixel for you? Let me see what i can do.
Edit: was gonna upload to apk mirror, but this was already there. Same version as I have.

Haven't tested the stock camera yet, getting around to that, I just flash it, and fixed my vendor issue. Thanks for the link to the APK!

I wonder if I need to flash the vendor if I'm already on NMF26O?
I flashed the full 7.1.1 to both slots. I wonder if I could dual boot this on one slot and stock/root/Elemental on another slot.
EDIT: Just had a thought. Since both slots share userdata, wiping to flash would this rom would wipe my other slot as well. :-/

Just rooted, no issues. I only did fastboot boot boot-to-root.img and rebooted. SuperSu updated upon reboot and everything seems to be running smoothly. I am going to finish setting it up all up later. I'll post again tomorrow after I use it for a bit.

Note 4 from verizon dies at ~35%

I have the note 4 from verizon, rooted with xpossed and running JASMINE ROM 7.0 and every time I'm using my phone at ~35% it thinks it's dead n shuts it's self down without the shutdown process it just goes to a black screen. Then it attempts to reboot but gets stuck in a bootloop until I plug it in then it reads 34 or 35%. I have colaborated the battery with root essentials app from Google play store. On the other hand when I'm not using it it dies around 20% it does the same thing. Is this a hardware or software issue?

Problem is marshmallow on note 4 dear .
Lot of people had this issue since marshmallow update.
Try the method below it will fix this issue.

Unfortunately dialing *#0228# doesn't work on my current ROM, do you know of an app or another way I can access this menu?

I am facing the same problem the link which was given to you won't solve the issue so i think it's a software related or it's a "bug".. mine shuts down at 15 to 10% and goes into a bootloop..
So my recommendation is do not attempt to do anything. buying a new battery or factory reseting your phone will not solve this problem i tried every method in xda
Just use it as it's hoping that next update solves this problem "fingercrossd"

I was trying out this ROM [ROM][6.0.1]Nseven [N910VVZW2CPL1][1/10/2017]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/note-4-grace-7-t3434155/page233 and in the post there's a kernel that I flashed to be able to install the ROM and after using the ROM I decided to restore my phone from a backup on TWRP and didn't re flash my boot img and my battery seems to last longer. I did have to re install supersu binary from TWRP to get it working but my phone battery seems to be working much better then before. Here's the kernel link from OP or u can find it in the link above BeastMode-Kernel_2_ZL.zip - OneDrive

*Update My first battery cycle lasted till 4% after i took the screen shot within 2 min phone died
I am on the 2nd cycle now, my max battery cycle for the battery to calibrate probably is 5 full cycles if the problem remains.. my only solution is a custom rom and kernel.
