Hi!
Last night, I wrote a list of the in my opinion top Android 3D games: Raging Thunder 2, Armageddon Squadron, SpeedX and Homerun Battle 3D. I also included a bunch of other games that I think are worthy representatives of 3D gaming on Android at the moment.
Are there any more games that I should now of? As you may know, Gameloft has released a whole bunch of Android 3D games. They got some backlash for not making them available in the Market, and for their DRM policy. But soon purchased games can be redownloaded from their own online store. Has anyone tried any of them and if so, how do they perform on the HTC Desire? I think a couple of them look very promising indeed
Cheers
you can add to the list RealFootball, Let's Golf, asphalt 5 (i can't believe that you've missed this ), iron sight, hero of sparta. wonderful 3D games.
Do you know if there is 3D chess? on windows mobile i had one, it was so nice!!!
Asphalt 5 could be an amazing game but the code is really awfull resulting in a lot of framedrops when more then 2 cars are on screen
i'm agree with you @pina_
Check out Crusade of Destiny, very nice RPG (although the save games doesn't work for me )
I bought Dungeon Hunter from the Gameloft website, and I love it!
Awesome Diablo-like hack'n'slay!
The 3D graphics could be better, but theyre OK, and there are some cool combat and magic effects.
I hope they will make more games available in the Android Market. That would be a much better solution than their company website, which is not really great to use... and you would be sure to get your refund if the game just sucks, like Asphalt 5 (horrible performance).
any other racing game that I should check out? I really like Raging Thunder 2, fast paced, excellent
Game loft games
Gameloft also realsed 10 3D android games:
http://www.gameloft.co.uk/download-games/android/
All the games look pretty good and you can only get it from there website.
has anyone tried them?
A few of those 10 games have been mentioned in this thread. Apparently some work well and others not so well. Be careful as Gameloft seems a little dodgy to deal with at times (not through personal experience, only things I have read).

Em, yes it is.
That's called sharing something that you don't own. You don't own the game, you own a single user licence to play the game and nothing more.
Has anybody been able to play spiderman, or modern combat2, or splinter cell because i cant?
First time i tried it gave me an error when downloading content. I found out that sammy has a download policy so this was a no go. I then installed them on my htc desire and downloaded all 3 above games and tested them and they all work. I copied yhe downloaded content to my samsung hoping that my problem was solved. But for my suprise spiderman and modern combat2 started but they still want to download content and of course it fails. Splinter cell on the other side started the game but when i am in it doesnt show me any textures of the environment and everything is white.
So please someone help me.
I have to mention that the games were bought from my carrier's webpage and they all work perfect on my htc desire.

I've got them all and they all work flawlessly. I bought modern warfare from the market, bought the others through the discounted ads that appear in angry bird, leading you to but the games from their site.

Did you buy the games from your SGS2? I sent my apks to a friend and he had same problems.maybe the original phones are registered upon purchase such that the apk will not work on other phones

99% of apps you obtain via Google Market or Amazon App Store or Gameloft/third party, are locked to either your google account, amazon account, or your phone/imei.
I really don't want to mess up with forum rules here, so I ask, is it ok to post a link to another forum's thread with Android's HD game releases?

sure, go ahead, as long as you don't sell those apps yourself there or that site contains warez, you should be fine. in general, links to shops or other forums are tolerated or (if helpful) appreciated.
just a quick note...buy games from wap gameloft website and its cheaper then buying from market.android...
got mine there...asphalt 6, lets golf 2, real football 2011
And all those are in 241 section as well so dollar something each.

First of all... i've got those games working fine on my phone + GTracing which also works flawlessly.
Bought Modern Combat 2 through the gamehub, but bought the other 3 directly from Gameloft from the website.
And another thing. Gameloft has a download policy, that reads the specs and model of yout phone, so the game is locked to the phone - therefore it does NOT work on any other phone, if you try to move the .APK. So if you change your phone, you have to buy the games again. They give the reason that they have to develop the games specific for the phones, as Android and Android-hardware is very fragmented (in which they have a point), and that cost them a lot of money - opposed to iOS, which is the same on all iPhones - which apparently is cheaper to develop to.
You CAN buy some games from gameloft though - like Modern Combat 2 - on the market, and that will follow your future line of phones, but it is also more expensive in the market (about 40%), for the reasons explained above.
But the games is very cheap directly from the website (sometimes down to 1-1,5 Euro for the HD-games, when on sale), when you see what you get for the money - so i guess it's an allright policy in my opinion...
Via their tweet, which you can get here, they're doing Let's Golf for free for the next couple of hours. Unfortunately, it's apparently not compatible with the SGS2.
Just thought I'd let you guys know about it now anyway, as lots of us have other devices as well.

Sucks I know. But you can buy some of their other games for 99p instead of £3. I managed to purchase quite a few games at 99p.
Ironically it let me purchase Let's Golf 2 HD for 99p and the download filename had GTi9100 in the actual filename so it's utter rubbish it does not support this phone....

The freebies are for the UK only, for whatever reason.
There was a post somewhere earlier about the free games, and that explained that, but I can't find it due to the search currently being down.
Yesterday I bought my first game for the SGS2 and since I'm a huge fan of racing games... guess what is the tittle -> Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD from Gameloft.
And now the interesting part:
1) As you can see from the images below, in the Android Market on my PC there is this message: 'This item is not compatible with your device.' (The same is with N.O.V.A. 2).
2) Prices!!! Asphalt 6 HD in Android Market costs 4.92 euro (today is 4.89 ). BUT in the gameloft's web store it is only 3 euro. And the same is with all other games.
Strange and I wonder why are these differences
Starforce woks fine too.

There are actually games for the Transformer, but they aren't showing up on that page for whatever unknown reason. Apparently Asphalt 6 HD, Dungeon Hunter 2 HD, Spiderman HD, Uno HD, and a couple others are available for purchase. I'm probably going to purchase the DH2 once I see if the one I downloaded works. Also, keep in mind that it might not show up, but if you go to check out and select your device properly, if you can't buy the game for that device it'll show you what games are available for it below. Thats how I figured out what was available. But it's ONLY on the gameloft website (which I accessed from the PC I'm typing this up on, trying to access it via my transformer's browser brings up the same old 'no games available for your device' screen).
What a small world as i am just around the corner from you mate.
also thanks for the heads up about using PC to access gameloft website.

When I was still living with my parents (about 5 years ago) I lived near Denver. I actually went to Reading more often than not simply because they had better stores than Lancaster. Now, I hardly ever go out to Reading. =P
Need modern combat
I long since given up on Gameloft. While they finally dipped their toes in the Android Market, their service is as great as the McDonalds in my Queens neighborhood. I really hope some other company can step up to the plate as the go to company for Android gaming. Recently com2us and Glu (sorta) has filled the void. Though I am craving for a graphic intense game. I just wished all these companies would stop over looking Android. The day "Infinity Blade", "Back to the Future" comes out to our devices is the day Android would be a few steps behind IOS gaming wise.

Not gonna disagree with you there. But I see the real problem with Android in how it's entirely too easy to pirate in comparison to IOS. About the only statistic that I'm willing to believe is the one about the percentage of IOS users that buy apps compared to Android users. I'm as guilty as anyone, I've bought approximately 10 applications so far.
I'd like to see a really nice 3D game come to Android, and only Android. I had been considering developing my own, but sadly it's not something I can pickup and do in my free time given my life at the moment. Until someone does something like that (probably similar to Infinity Blade, but something more fun and something that has a longer lifespan than playing it once and being done), Android will continue to be IOS's bastard step child as far as games are concerned.

nice
wow, i hope they can add nova 2 or modern combat to that list soon.
it would be nice to get dead space to have native support without rooting too.
Downloading apks does have an effect on some companys bringing new apps to android but as the quality goes up and the pricing becomes more competitive i think this will become less of an issue, at least i hope so.
For me if i know that its going to work out of the box i will happily pay for an app, as i have have done with my collection of tegra games but if there is any dought then i may do a little try before i buy just to find out if its going to work and then delete if it does,nt or buy if it does.
I would love to play GT Racing on my tablet so fingers crossed things do improve.
Jason.

All the games that work on the Xoom should work on the TF. However you have to use the Xoom link in order to buy & download the games.

uhhhhhhh.....wrong. The Xoom games do not work on the TF. In some cases you can change the build.prop file and get a few working. The list is in a thread in the "Themes and Apps" section. This was not a new question posted by the OP. The subject may have been the same but he was stating that Gameloft was going to start supporting the TF specifically and was wondering where this support was.

Go to post #7 (my post). It should have instructions on how to purchase games for the TF101. Yes, the games in that link are the ones that are currently available for the TF101. I downloaded DH2 last night, and I have been playing it today without ANY issues whatsoever. Same with the latest Order and Chaos, been playing that today, but it is not officially supported.....You have to use the Xoom version. It does work. 1.0.3
Not terribly interested in the OUYA, but I know there are others that are interested in it. FF3 has been announced as a launch title with updated graphics and what not to take advantage of the Tegra 3 processor in the OUYA.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/31/ouya-partners-with-square-enix-names-final-fantasy-iii-as-launc/
Saw this, looks pretty good.
Re: Final Fantasy III by Square Enix coming to Ouya.
When I heard that Final Fantasy 3 will be on Ouya, I was so happy. This was the main reason why I pre-ordered an Ouya with two controllers. I am a Final Fantasy fan since a long time and it was great news for me
FFIII?
Y not something like dead trigger?
Or MC3?
Or NOVA 3?

Because those aren't already on Android in HD [/Sarcasm].
I hope that if they optimize it to work with the OUYA's gamepad, we can get an updated version that supports the Xperia Play hardware buttons.
It might just work for ICS cannot see how it would work for Gingerbread without explicit support.
I have bought it but not played it yet due to the lack of controller support.
(If we get secret of mana or chrono trigger that would be good).
Or heaven forbid a new port (Dragon Quest VI maybe).
---------- Post added at 12:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ----------
It also says all the games are free to play (Don't think I would want an adware Final Fantasy III)
I wonder if we'd have to buy it again if we already own it through the Play Store. Or, maybe it will not even be obtained through Google Play...
Just thinking about that Android Doom 3 port being worked on being available for this console!
Other OUYA related news.
EA and DICE in particular were looking foward to bring frostbite 2 engine to mobile platform.
Seeing as Tegra 3 is dominant and powerfull mainstream hardware and also used for OUYA, this may mean some form of ports could be heading to OUYA.
Atleast this would mean way much easier game development for smartphones/OUYA in general.

Nice!! I mean, we're already seeing Unreal on Android.
Sheild TV arrived today from Amazon USA, to me here in the UK and I activated my $30 credit via a vpn.
I bought it mainly to run emulators on but is there anything really worth buying in the play store or should I save the credit for the upcoming stuff.
I was leaning towards Doom 3 BFE as I missed out on that on the PC somehow, but it has mixed reviews on the play store?
Any suggestions or other recommendations? I tend to prefer action games over puzzle or strategy games if that helps. Do the Shield games go on sale like the other play store stuff, I can't seem to find a good play store price tracker?

I bought my Shield via Amazon a couple of months ago. Never figured out how to get the Google Play credit. Did you get a redemption email or something because I don't think I did?
PS: I also live in the UK.
In US there is a Google Play Store sale. Not sure about UK but picked up NBA jam for 60 cents. I used my credit for small purchases. Droidmote, robert bruglia's sega emulator, gamesome frontend donation. I can't see spending it all on only halflife & doom

Yes just talk to Amazon on life chat. They will give you the key. You have to redeam that on the Nvidia website and they email you the actual Google play redemption key. Change your play settings to a us store and fictitious us address and then redeeam the key. If you Google there are numerous guide on how to do it. But pm me if you get stuck
I got the movie "Home" because my nieces stayed the night the day it came in.
A few emulators that were Shield friendly.
Doom 3 because I remembered it being pretty fun.
Just to say thanks to @baileyjr who I PMd and helped me too get the 30 USD credit
Now I too have a predicament of what to spend it on. For anyone who has spare PS3 (or PS4) controllers lying around, I'd highly recommend the paid app Sixaxis Controller: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller (requires root).
Other paid games which I enjoy are:
~ $7: Wind-Up Knight 2 (Platform) (IAP Unlock)
£0.79: Goat Simulator (Comedy)
£5.00: GTA: San Andreas
£1.59: Riptide GP2
$10 Each: Portal and the Half Life 2 Episodes (Puzzle)
I know you said you don't like puzzle games baileyjr, but for anyone else Half-Life 2 is one of the best and does have plenty of action too. It's graphics seem to have been slightly upgraded since its PC release in 2004 and it has about the best graphics of any Shield TV game I've played so far.
As for emulators, before I try any paid emulators I'm going to have a crack at the open source, multiplatform Retroarch which just received a major update.

Last night I picked up Doom 3 and for some bizarre reason it didn't deduct any funds out of my credit, so I then picked up Half Life 2 as well, I will have a look at HL2 episode 2 as well :good:
Emulators I can highly recommend and are free are:
PPSSPP https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ppsspp.ppsspp&hl=en
Reicast https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.reicast.emulator&hl=en_GB
Mupen 64 alpha 21 http://www.paulscode.com/forum/index.php?topic=1818.0
The alpha of Mupen 64 is not availiable in the play store and is far better and easier to set up than the retroarch version.
Also Dolphin is worth a look, but its not running at full speed yet apart for few odd games.
I'm really glad you got it all sorted out. And remember Amazon should refund your import charges deposit if it came through without inuring any. Hit them up on a live chat if you dont get them back.
Out of curiosity what are you guys from uk using for the us plug ? just a travel adapter ? that's what i'm using but would like a proper uk power lead
Yes just a travel adaptor
I'm also using a US power adapter. I'm really hoping they sell the UK brick separately after the Shield's UK release as I don't want to be stuck with a US adapter forever.
Anyone know of any good n64, snes, gamecube, or nes emulators? Nothing has been working well for me
Most of the apps that I've purchased have been emulators or apps that somehow compliment the emulators.
What I've bought so far:
Drastic: DS emulator that works great for DS games that don't require touch input.
PPSSPP Gold: Amazing PSP emulator.
ePSXe: PS1 emulator
FolderSync: Lets you sync local folders with remote folders (using services such as Dropbox). I use this to sync my game saves to Dropbox so that I can have my game saves synced across all of my devices.
Tasker: I use Tasker to trigger FolderSync to sync all of my folder pairs when my device receives a certain text (so that I can trigger a folder sync when I don't have access to the device) .
My Game Collection: Lets you keep track of and organize your video game library.
There are a few more apps that I've bought but they aren't related to emulation/gaming.
