[Q] NOVA 3 on Nexus 7 working better now? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone out there have NOVA 3 on their tablet and is it working better now? Is it playable? Is it enjoyable? Worth buying? Thanks!

I tried it a while back... still laggy as crap.

It's my understanding that Gameloft games are not optimized for our devices with multi-core processors.. I play it from time to time..isn't too bad..but should be better. Gameloft is a more apple-biased company with much less support for android.

I have in and with a different kernel and an overclocked GPU, of ran pretty good but still not as good as the iPad or Samsung tablets. I've heard its because the tegra GPU doesn't have as much raw power as the others, and it was developed for the iPad first so its just a really bad port to the nexus 7

performance on this thing...is it any good ?

How is the multi-tasking etc ? gaming ?
And seriously is 1gb of ram good enough ?
I find it great at both of those even better if you flash a custom kernel but stock is still amazing at both, this is definitely the best 7 inch tablet you can get but if your looking for a big 10 inch takes and have money to spend I'd try the Nexus 10 as it also looks very promising

This is the best tablet on 7inch display multi tasking is no trouble and being able to swap back and forth from app to app in a flash is great. Performance all round is smooth and very pleasing. Games run quick and the size of the tablet makes playing all games so much easier. If u are thinking of buying one dnt think just do it. this thing holds no disappointment to anything it dose.

Just don't update ota to 4.2.1, lots of performance problems as reported here on the forum.

Try using a Tegra 2 tablet for a day then pick up a Nexus 7. Big difference, bigger than I expected. I have a TF101 and N7 both running 1280x800 resolution so that's not a factor. It could be that the TF101 is on 4.0.1 and my N7 is on 4.2.1. It drives me crazy to use my TF101 now.
I'm running 4.2.1 OTA, bone stock (for now) and am not seeing any problems, performance or otherwise.

Nexus 7 gaming TABLET???

Is the N7 is a good tablet for Gaming?
I thinking on getting tablet but the main use would be for gaming.
Or should I get another tablet?
The price of this tablet is one cheaper out there, if have you have another option tell me.
Thanks in advance.
Lol really? Let see, 4 core tegra 3, 1.3 GHz, 1gb ram, hogy 12 gpu.
Short answer is yes.

It's a perfect tablet for portable gaming

All I have to really say is Tegra 3. 1GB of RAM? No problem. Small device.
I mainly ONLY use mine for gaming. Perfect size and it runs smoothly.
Thanks for your help, I'm getting N7 soon.

Anytime the Nexus 7 can handle anything you throw at it gamewise.

I have had no problems at all with my nexus plays anything and everything easy. I find 7" easier than 10" for tablet gaming.
My one recomendation would be get the 32gb nexus cause 16 aint enough if your gaming. Most games are coming in around 2gb each for the top games anyway.
Best tablet for gaming <3
If it was a 412MHz ARM9 with a Adreno 130 I'd we worried. Its a Quad Core T30L so tamed are pretty smooth with only a few dropped frames.

Yep, I strictly use mine for gaming.
I like to think of my Nexus 7 as a "Multimedia Consumption Device"
I use it for Gaming, Movies, FB, Music, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, you name it. If it's gaming, social, pictures, music or video it's on my Nexus.
It'll be just fine for anything.

[Q]. Galaxy SIII seems smoother and quicker than the Nexus 7

I have both and I expected the Nexus to be faster. But overall. The GSIII seems faster. Both are on stock. I'm wondering who else feels this way if they have this combination?

1.The Tegra 3 processor in Nexus 7 is not as fast as Galaxy S3's Exynos 4412 quad core.
2.Nexus 7 runs on android 4.2.1,more resources consumed in the background thanks to the new features implemented by google.
3.Project butter is more of smoothness at a constant fps,the ui does not perform at high frames.
I believe it is due to 4.2/4.2.1 more than because of the processor. 4.1.1/4.1.2 were really fast and smooth....
Also, 2gb of ram helps make things faster.

But 2GB RAM is only in the U.S/N.America versions of the S3 that run Snapdragon dual core processors. The Euro Exynos S3's that run quad core have 1GB RAM.
My Evo 4G LTE is faster than my Nexus too, in terms of UI.
Well, the GSIII is also twice the price? Be happy that you have 2 decent android devices

I have both devices, but SGS3 is not stock anymore (stock kernel, though - so far). I guess it's greater fluidity and responsiveness is somewhat expected. What I notice a lot is screen density difference (GS3>N7, ofc), particularly on text. I also enjoy AMOLED saturated colours, let them be false, I don't care. GS3 is awesome, and was way more expensive where and when I got it then Nexus 7, so I guess it's only fair.

{?} About MC4

Does anyone know why on my nexus 4 it shows the extra graphics/ effects but doesn't on my nexus 7?

GPU
its because the adreno 320 is a much better gpu then tegra 3 i think its about 2.5x stronger so if gameloft put max graphics on nexus 7 it would lag
Wrong by a long shot!!! Tegra is one of the best CPU's around, just gotta tweak it. Also for your answer try a different ROM and kernel. Should help!!

I own both a nexus 7 and N4 and the nexus 4 is a lot faster even with the n4 CPU @800 and n7 CPU @1500 its still faster than the n7 in graphics
EDIt: anyone with a brain knows S4Pro is a. much stronger soc than tegra 3 do you work for nvidia or something oh yeahs when's the last time nvidia released drivers that's right never
Is there any way to improve the graphics?

You can find modded APKs (I am not gonna link them) but 90% of the time they won't work. You can try editing some config file in the data directory. Dunno which though.

New phones?

Hi people
Ive been using nexus for a year now.
And it is the best device I ever used.
However Im getting bored of this phone a bit >< and I thought of moving on.
Do you guys have any devices you are looking forward to?
P.s. Hows xperia z compared to our nexus 4?

LG G Flex
Note 3 is amazing. It would be a dream in Google edition.

If you just want a faster device with higher resolution I would suggest LG G2/N5.

Be aware that LG ponies never see more than one update. Even the flagship device.

I feel like everything is a little "undercooked" now.
64bit CPU's are on the way.
4K Displays are in the discussion while the GPU's would still not be powerful enough to drive games on them in a serious way.
Nvidia and Qualcomm start adding new GPU features like Desktop Open Gl, Tesselation. Meanwhile Snapdragon's OpenGl Es 3.0 drivers are still broken and unusable.
Intel wants to enter the ARM market and could bring some really good CPU's.
It is time for the manufacturing tech to go below 28nm, which has been used for quite a while and is still used in Snapdragon 805 and Tegra K1. It could save some serious Watts.
The HEVC/H265 video codec is on the way, and until now only the Snapdragon 805 can handle it.
The European GPS System Galileo is supposed to start this year, yet none of the phones features support for it.
And then there is always the simple truth that the Nexus 4 is still incredibly powerful and fast.
You could argue, that tech always develops incredibly fast, but I will wait and see how it works out until 2015.
I made myself a list of "must have" features, before I buy a new phone again.
