Hello,
I dropped my phone in to my local Three store as I was having the low mic issue. I only had the motherboard changed 2 months ago and had the low mic issue since I got it back.
When I went in to collect it I was told that they are not fixing is as un authorised repairs had been done on it. I questioned this and after the sales assistant made a quick call was told it was because of my custom firmware.
I remember before being told that Samsung was repairing phones with custom Firmware.
Have they changed?
I found out that Three did not send it back to Samsung but there own in house repair center.
I am contacting Samsung Directly to see what they say. And pointing them in the direction of this post.
The only reason I picked Samsung was a few years ago HTC started locking their bootloaders and Samsung came out straight away saying they would never do this. I seen Samsung as Modder friendly. Seems not so any more
Here are the two letters I got when collecting the phone....

I just sent Samsung the following
Hello,
I dropped my phone into my local Three store(Ireland) as the mic was very low on calls but ok on speaker. I had previously had the Motherboard replaced as the phone was not booting.
The phone was returned to me today not repaired and was told it would not be repaired as it had custom firmware on it.
I know it is in the T&C that this voids the warranty but I was lead to believe that Samsung was modder friendly. And was repairing phones with custom firmware. I do note your stance when HTC started locking there bootloaders and Samsung came out and stated that theirs are not locked down and wont be.
I have posted the issues I am having on the following sites so far.

http://forums.pinstack.com/f60/samsung_three_refused_to_repair_phone-135200/#post1340783
I will keep these posts updated as I feel the large android community should know if Samsung has changed its stance on this.
Hoping you can help,

Hey folks!
It seems that my X10 is dead. I can't charge it anymore. I tried another wall charger and usb charging and i only get the red LED flashing 3 times. When plugging in the cable, it seems very loose so i guess the micro-usb port is broken.
Many people are having this kind of problem and i think it's caused by a constructional flaw with the plate and the charging port. it's very sensitive for shocks.
So ~1 month ago i sent my X10 to SE for fixing the problem, i still have my warranty. They sent it back saying that it hasn't been fixed becuase i dropped my phone and so it's my fault.
Well i did never drop the phone and i always covered it in a protective cover.
They sent a picture with it to "prove" it. Here it is :

The red stuff is some stabilisation and it's broken.
I've been in contact with SE lately and i literally begged them to fix it using my warranty. Today they denied it saying once again, it's my fault because i dropped it.
I've been reading through many forums and i read that it's a common problem with the X10. They have to burden to proof that i REALLY dropped it (there are no marks on there because i did never drop it). I have the idea of point out that it's a common problem with that *** micro usb port (constructional flaw).
What should i do? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
The X10s body easily shows signs of being dropped due to it being plastic (i.e if you drop it onto concrete ). I've dropped my X10 several times and the plastic is dented and chipped all over the place.
I don't know if I can give any suggestions as to what you can do, but if your phone's body is pristine then that should be proof enough that it hasn't been dropped.
If you have any consumer protection agencies in your country, contact them.
yeah we have some kind of that here. that would be my last option.
If you got it on contract chances are you can get a replacement through your carrier (in Canada I think its for 1 year)
I have had the same customer return 3 times because of the issue. In all his apps (facebook, instagram, browser, and more) all pictures being loaded from the web are coming in at low pixelated quality. The first time he came in our Samsung rep was there and said he had no idea why it would do that and after we both looked through the settings we decided to try a factory reset..
That worked for about a day and he returns with the same issue. So we replaced his device. Here it is 2 days later and now he's experiencing the same issue again.
It's not the reception. His wife got the same phone and she has not had any of those issues. He connected to WiFi and it's still coming in at extremely low quality.
What could be the issue?? Is there a setting that's he's getting into that could cause all online photos to render at a low quality?
Attached are screenshots of the issue.

nobody knows???
Nobody knows anything about this? This has been an issue with Samsung devices dating back to the original galaxy s. I've searched all over the web with people posting these exact same issues. And not a single person has been able to come up with any kind of solution or thought about what could be causing this. My own rep has no clue what it could be either. One of the employees had the same issue the other day with her s3. Couldnt figure out why it happened but a simple factory reset fixed the issue. It came back of course. But it seems like it's only effecting Samsung devices. So at least one of you guys here had to of ran into this problem at least once.

UPDATE
it seems to have been caused by switching from and to an lte network. Found out after digging around that a customer with an iPhone 5 reported the same issue. Apparently somewhere along the way to and from lte/3g data compression is an issue. Thanks for all your help guys.......

Hi Chaps
I'm from the U.K and my little 3 year old just dropped our nexus 10 and cracked its screen.
Google and Samsung are driving me mad, each claiming that its the other's responsibility to fix the screen.
I have decided to replace the screen myself.
Q1) Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement screen within the U.K at a sensible price?
Q2) Does anyone have a damaged nexus 10 (not screen damage) that they are willing to give away or sell?
Regards
Nas

Mine looks exactly the same as the one above. I've hunted high & low, online, to get this fixed. I've waited for the imaginary nexus 10 2 to come out, hoping that a digitizer would soon be available after that. Short of buying a new one, I have no idea how I'm going to get this sorted
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :good:

Hi, I'm from the Philippines, is it possible to have my Nexus' screen replaced by you? N10 is not commercially available in the Philippines so I couldn't get it serviced here by Samsung. Please do let me know if it's possible and how. Would really appreciate your response. Thank you so much.
I just purchased a couple new Samsung Galaxy s5 from seller that claim they were new refurbished At&t units. I've tested them and everything seems to be checking out. Is there any sure way to verify whether the phones is a a genuine Samsung or a replica? I was confused because one of the handsets showed a At&t boot up logo, but the imei was showing up as a Tmobiles. Thanks any help will be appreciated.

Sorry for the double text post. New to the forums and in on a mobile lol
Boot up screens don't mean nothing. Use Phone Info from the Play Store to find out about the internals or just open up the phone and look inside....
Thanks for the input Gerard. I had already done what you recommended after doing some some research and like I said everything seems good. Correct snapdragon processors, 16gb internal memory, 2gb ram, 16mp camera. i used one app called genuine Samsung which claimed it was genuine. Should that be enough to determine it's authentic?

Yes, as you can see
Samsung Galaxy S5 Replica
I got a HDC Galaxys S5,a Samsung Galaxy S5 clone
It works so far so good.
I will try to keep this short and simple.
In July I ordered the bogo s8+ from Samsung. The wife's came first but didn't work right out of the box(wouldn't stay connected to the cell towers). After talking to tmobile and Samsung tech support Samsung told me to send the phone back to. They gave me a label and I sent it back.
Here is where everything goes to ****.
Ups takes my phone in early august and it disappears. No tracking. For the first 2 weeks in August I was arguing with Samsung and ups and getting nowwhere. Then all of sudden I get an email from Samsung in the middle of august with a refund confirmation for 850. I never get the refund. And no one can figure out where the email came from. I have talked to e-commerce department tons of times and i have been told 3 times that the refund will be given on Friday. It never happens.
So today at work I get another email saying the my phone has arrived at the repair center. I check the tracking number again and it still says it is lost.
I called th repair center and ask guy how a phone that was lost almost 2 months ago just got delivered. tells me the phone has been sitting on the lost phone shelf.
I have probably spent 10 plus hours talking to these dumb asses.
They are giving me 100 dollars to spend at the Samsung store and a wireless phone charger.
You would think that if a phone does missing that would have been the first place they would have looked.
I did right the repair number on 3 sides of the box.
Like I said this is a condensed version
Thanks for reading my rant.

Samsung is the worst customer support I've ever dealt with. They renewed my free trial of premium care 5 days before the renewal day so I called in to ***** and they promised a refund. However, I got billed again this month. It's been over a month since they promised a refund for the initial charge and 2 weeeks for the most recent one.. I think I'm going to have to do a chargeback on those mofos. I've had it with them. I'm never going to do another free trial from them again.
Dont spam noob.
