Root is important if you want to customize your device with roms and kernels..
Its good to have your device rooted but it voids manufacturers warranty...

The I9505 doesn`t have a locked bootloader, it is fully rootable if that is what you mean. Only some US carriers have the bootloader locked down.

I also have write protection enabled but rooted without any problems, even flashed custom ROMs and kernels.

Yes, I do. My Galaxy S 4 is the GT-I9505, with the XXUAMDM firmware...
Just flash from djembay thread rooted ME2 firmware whit Odin.But wait 5 to 15 min will work
