[Q] VPN issues with AOKP4? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use Cactus VPN to connect to their NL server to watch NFL games using Gamepass over PPTP. I have been able to connect just fine and it will work for a brief time. But as soon as I go to a website, it will begin to load the site for a second or two and then loading stops and times out. Once that happens I can't even ping anything. Kill the VPN connection and it goes just fine. The VPN worked with stock ROM and it works in Win7. I also connected successfully on my daughter's Macbook. It seems isolated to this release on AOKP on my N7. Anyone else had this problem or know a fix? I love the ROM, but with VPN not working for me, its a no-go.

Problem with original ROM and wifi tethering

I rooted my Hero today which runs the latest HTC ROM. There were no problems and it now works fine to run apps as root. Though I can't get wifi tethering to fully work. The computer connects fine, receives an IP address but doesn't get any Internet connection - the gateway can't be pinged. This happens both with Wireless Tether and aNetShare.
I wonder if it has to with the HTC ROM? Has anyone else gotten it to work with this ROM? I really would like to continue using it as I've gotten everything configured just as I want it and this is the only obstacle right now.

SiriusXM and Z ports?????

i seem to be having some difficulty and was wondering if anyone else is as well...I can't seem to connect to the server to stream SiriusXM on my Inc...only happens on the newer Z-based roms...I can connect to the server, but i cannot stream the media via 3G, wifi works fine, and if I connect on wifi, then turn wifi off, it works on 3G, but if I lose the connection on 3G, it won't re-connect...
it works great on the HD port from IncDoes...but the newer ports are all coming from the Z port, and that is where the problem seems to stem from.
anyone else having this issue? (i haven't tried streaming anything else since I don't use any other apps to stream...i will try that out on the newest builds)

are you running the Sirius XM 1.1 app? there was an issue that was addressed for 3G streaming.
Only issues i've ever ran into was repeating of the same content when it lost connection and connection was re-established it would still repeat up to the point where it lost connection from the point the channel was cached.
it could also be a server issue, ever since they launched the app they've had nothing but problems with there server cutting in and out, losing connection, quality took a nosedive etc. I think its the limitations they set in the app itself, i seriously (pun intended) wish someone in the android community would develop a better app.
I listen to my app from my phone while i'm at work and seeing how i just let it stream for a few hours, it eventually asks "continue streaming?" while yes i agree its a nice feature for THEM to keep server load down but what about us legitimate users that use it while working and don't want to keep messing with the phone / app to just listen.

[Q] VPN connection issue

I tried so many builds, both SD and NAND, but VPN connections are not stable at all. It connects successfully most of the time but it cannot go anywhere. But it may works sometimes, mostly 5min. I need to keep trying until it can visit the Internet. I am sure that it is the android problem since the VPN works well with iPhone and PC. And it showed connected in VPN server's control panel. Does anyone encounter the same problem and any solutions?
And I also tried some factory android machine, the VPN is not stable too. It may not only a problem in HD2 android.
It's been my war to. PPTP VPN, No problem with nand builds though, can remote desktop, view webcams etc... But with SD roms the only ones that worked were Cyanogen.
which nand build are you using, i'd like to try.

VPN Woes

I just picked up my wifi only Xoom today, and discovered that it appears to have an issue that's virtually identical to one that the Thunderbolt shipped with as well: I simply cannot make L2TP over IPSec connections. In fact, judging by the logs on the server, the VPN client in Honeycomb does not even try to connect. Checking the server side logs shows no entries whatsoever. However, if I go back to my Thunderbolt (which now, being rooted and on a different ROM, will work) I can connect to the same VPN, with the same settings, with no issues. But when I try from the Xoom, all I get is "Unable to connect to the network. Do you want to try again?"
However, I can establish a PPTP connection from the Xoom without any problem (which is, again, exactly the behavior that my Thunderbolt exhibited until I was able to go to a new ROM), BUT, once the connection is established, the Xoom behaves as though it has NO internet connection whatsoever.
I would REALLY appreciate help with this. Thanks
Thats odd. I have had no issues with L2TP and IPSec. Works slow for sure but was working fine. I was on wifi at home. When I tried via 3g it was ungodly slow, took like 5 attempts to connect. Any info would be nice

Very odd VPN issue

Im on the road a lot and my work laptop uses VPN. VPN works great until my tablet connects to my wifi. With in seconds I'm booted from VPN. I have never had this issue before and no clue how to trouble shoot it. There is also a coworker with a different android tablet and his does the same thing.
