You won't see this update minor or not for maybe 2 months.
Yeah I know..it contains new power maintenance module and new kernel..once applied you can't go back to 4.1.1
And still majority of devices yet to get jb..
It will take 3 months to reach out any OEM except nexus..
This confirms new nexus/s getting launched next month at allthingD

Not switching yet... It's not dead yet...
Though if it coincides with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich and the next Nexus I'll be glad

I pre-ordered when it was first released. Still using it for various things, although it is no longer my primary phone.

I finally switch to N1
about one year
Two and half years. Still using it every day, all day. The screen is still in pristine condition, and it rocks better than the day I got it. I Love my G1.
had it since US release date until the end of 2010, then switched to verizon and got a droid x
Long enough that I no longer have a contractual obligation. But, it still works and with the uncertainty concerning T-Mobile's future I am not wanting to get locked in by upgrading.
About 1.5 years. Bought it cheap from a friend who moved on to greener pastures.
I hate the damn thing. Sure I run an optimized Froyo rom, but it's way too slow, and no way am I going back to the dark ages (Android <2.0).
Finally switching to a Samsung Galaxy S II soon! Can't wait! :-D
I'm thinking of getting a sensation next or just waiting till next year

I have only had it for 6 months, since new year of 2011. I now have a HTC HD2 but I still port roms for fun for the G1.
I also had it for 6 months till 2011 and now I have a HTC HD2!!
Nine months. I got mine used on eBay back in September, and despite a few issues, I've been loving it as my first Android device.
i have it for about half a year, but then switch to HTC droid Eris.
From the beginning
Got it the first week of release. Using EVO 4G on Sprint now, but still use G1 on my business cell phone. I keep it to push its limits, currently running CM6. I hope to do something ridiculous with it one day, like Honeycomb on the G1
Lol

a little over a year.gotta love the variety of rom flavours u can try out
Bought mine the day it was released in Germany. Went from there to an HTC legend, now a galaxy s2, but still use my beautiful fat G1 for snes roms, that keyboard is the greatest!

I am eligible to upgrade my X but since I just rooted it (running Gummy ICS coming from .621), it feels like a new phone. I have been thinking of getting the Galaxy Nexus as my next device. Should I wait to see what's coming out later this year? Will the Nexus price come down this summer?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using XDA
If your content with your current device, I recommend waiting.
I think there might be some fairly good phones coming out this summer.

I'm in the same boat, albeit running Liberty v3. What's the general feeling on the GNex? Seems buggy from what I've read, but the idea of not having to wait 6 months for updates to push out over carriers is appealing.

ive got a gnex and LOVE it (no bugs here) but id definitely recommend waiting. this is approximately the worst time ever to buy a new phone...

I know right. I'm hoping that the Droid "Fighter" will release with an unlockable bootloader. Or maybe, some miracle, Verizon will the Galaxy S 3.
Although what I am really hoping for is for the Galaxy Note to come to Verizon as the Galaxy Journal, as it was rumored to a few months ago.
Verizon never gets any phone love.

So I have been reading a few threads and started wondering what is worse. Waiting for a new phone to release or waiting for a new OS to drop. They both seem to inspire the same kind of sentiments. Right now everyone is angered about not having there phone yet, and next month it will be all about when is Samsung going to release an update for either issues the phone has or an outdated Os.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Waiting on a physical device is much worse than waiting for a software update... Unless the phone if non operable without said software update.

Ill rather buy a phone that comes with the latest OS than waiting on them to release a update to their current device list

Nice to hear it's in the works, even if it does take the US a few extra months after the i9300 does
I would think they working on it already, and I hope it only takes a few months, when eclair got update to froyo, the Evo 4G was the first one to get in two months frame, seem hoe eclair and froyo was back then, that's how it looks for ics to jelly bean, some things did get left out by HTC back them tho(like cloud backup of apps)

Have no doubt the s3 will get it. The s2 though, i don't know.
Probably just the international version sgs2

Yeah, even if the int. Gsiii gets it in a month or two, it would be a GODSEND if we were to get it before the end of the year. Carriers always take their sweet time to bloat it up
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I've just been running with some of the backported JB goodness... like the keyboard and Google Ears... other than Google Now that covers most of it.
Sprint takes there sweet time but ATT takes ages so I hope they dont do that bs.

Nothing to see hear. Expect it to ARRIVE to our PHONES in 2013.
Sent from my SGS3!
So it'll reach US carriers in 6 months, and the Verizon version will see it in 2014.

Either way you look at it this it's still good news.
The one thing I dislike is that some U.S. carriers may overlook the SGSII update to sell more SGSIII.
The reason being is that the SGSII variants for the U.S. launched less the a year ago. Which means there are a majority of people who are still locked in a contract.

Well the original galaxy s got two updates: froyo and gingerbread. I it only makes sense to see the galaxy s2 to get two updates as well: ics and jelly bean

This makes me wanna buy the s3 even more now. Too bad I can't afford it.

Yes it makes sense but is expensive for them and it most likely going to get it just later

Shouldn't take to awfully long being that jelly bean is based off ICS. ICS took longer to update because its a whole new build coming from gingerbread.

That makes sense but the carriers do what they want. I had an infuse 4g which is very similar to the s1 and it was only given a gb update after ice came out. It will probably never see official ics

Well in that case I guess you just have to hope. Keep in mind though it was kind of a spin-off of the galaxy s series, like the stratosphere or some phone like that. I don't really know

Yeah but Samsung can be pretty disappointing with updates. Optimistically, I'd say it will be released in September but it'll probably be like late October or November.

for all the AT&T folks, you still have THIS option
When do you think we will see 4.2?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
We should see them start rolling it from Nov 13th, not before that.
As per the announcement from Google, mid November... the 13th at the soonest.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Add a week past Nov 13 for a rolling update.

Who waits for updates? Lol we will have it within a day it drops.
I think generally the sdk gets released first with the source/ota days later.
My take on the announcement is that the date of the 13th being given relates to the play store changes and may not relate directly to 4.2 seeing as these store features are already available in the us and will also apply to older versions (the only new feature, music matching, is probably an upgrade to the upload from pc.)
