It seems they stream their videos with Flash but I guess Adobe / Google don't get along. One person from Amazon said it worked great while another person said it did not work.
But what about the books - will they work on (unrooted) the Nexus 7?
The amazon kindle app for android works just fine. Is this your question? You can also install the amazon app market on the N7 from Amazon's website.

Quick question, is Amazon Kindle app better than Google Books?
You can side load Adobe on an unrooted N7. You just have to use a browser such as Boat or Firefox.

Is this the standard, "Use Flash + web browser" way?
The actual Amazon Video app would be sweet. I've been digging through old threads going back to the original Fire trying to get this going on my N7 this weekend. Video quality aside, it would be nice to get everything going so you can download videos to device. For, hypothetically, loading "A Charlie Brown Christmas" or somesuch for the flight home next week.
Anyhow, so far I understand this may be a pipe dream. But if anyone has any more recent tips on Amazon Video + Nexus, please hit me up. So far the farthest I can get is registering my N7 as a device (shows up in Amazon even), seeing my account and videos, but then FC upon clicking on any vids.
One more try, then... *starts digging through newest KFHD dump*

New Amazon Instant Video App
Today Amazon Instant Video arrived to the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, it is only compatible with Google TV. Considering it can run on those, which are essentially android, why not try to find a way to get it to run on our phones and tablets. Considering the screen-shots they have on the Play link, it could be used on our devices. There has to be a way, maybe by editing the build.prop, to get Google Play to think that your phone or tablet is actually a Google TV. I tried a few things but could not manage to get it to work, but I'm sure someone with more experience could figure this one out.
Update: I recently saw that there is a Google Play version for Google TV on the Play Store so maybe that could help if we could get that running on a device.

We have a thread going over on the Kindle HD forum, and I've been trying to get this download by using a build.prop change. From what I can find online its only compatible with new LG TVs, the 47G2 and 55G2. And from a youtube review of one of these TVs the device name was "LG Google TV" so I tried a build.prop with manufacturer "lge" (since thats what they use on other devices IIRC) and device name "LG Google TV". Yet it still showed as incompatible.
If we could just get a copy of this apk, maybe it will work. Still don't know why Amazon can't release a native Android app. The apk from the OG Kindle Fire works on GB but FCs on ICS and JB. The apk from the 2nd gen Kindle Fire HD FCs on everything.
FWIW here is teh list of compatible devices.

"compatible" how? browser + flash, or the video app?
I'm trying this method with MarketHelper, along with RootCloak module when needed ... in order to use an amazon app, not a browser.

Using flash to play Amazon Prime works great.
I used CM10.1 with AOSP browser but you can do it on the stock ROM too, I imagine.

What you're trying to do is not feasible.
I want to transfer over my apps from my apple store to the Kindle fire HD is it possible? If so, how?
Since that's not an option can I use the google play with the kindle fired HD instead?
That's not a possible task. Two different OS/platforms... different code... no way to do it. You get what you can get from amazon app store.

Yes on PLAYSTORE.
Apple Sync
This is a good question. Since Apple uses a BSD Kernel and quite a bit of proprietary layers over the Kernel, it just not possible to "Sync" the applications to Android ICS (Kindle 7" HD 7.2.3).
Now if you would like to Sync Music, Movies, Podcast, etc you may purchase an application for the Kindle named DoubleTwist.
Email, Contacts, Calendar, Task Lists etc can be done through IMAP4
Ok cool, thanks

DenusAndre,
Once you root the Kindle, then install Google Play Store, the doors open wide. You will save lot's of $$ over
Amazon App Store. It is not to say the Amazon App Store has nothing to offer, it does. We have found that
overall, the Google Play Store offers more to the end user. Thank you for taking the time to post your
comments.:good:
Anyway to get that working? I tried searching, but the search box on the HD app is god awful. Anyone have a modified apk or anything, one that'll make it work on here? I'd really like to get it working

Only if you get a kindle fire. In a nutshell, it is heavily tied into their OS, which is not stock android and will not work outside of that environment. The only way you'll ever see it on the Nexus 7 is if Amazon releases it a s standalone apk..
For now, you have to just use the website.

I've been watching various threads on this one for weeks. I'm hopeful that Amazon will release an app for the rest of us soon given that 1) they just released an app for Google TV, and 2) they make most of their money from media, not Kindle hardware....so I'm hoping the speculation that they are limiting it to the Kindle for competitive reasons, is false.
The only way I've been able to watch Amazon VOD is by loading flash and using Firefox. It works, but it is FAR from ideal.

To clarify, the Google TV app only works on two LG television sets. It does not work on any other Google TV devices.

Understood....I guess my point was more that they are still releasing android apps, even though there is speculation out there that they want to limit android access to the Kindle. A while back there was the same speculation about iDevices, but now we have both an iPad and iPhone/Pod app. I'm hopeful we'll have one soon....
I hope someone figures this out soon.
I am on the 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, and my clock is ticking.
I won't stay with Prime unless it can replace Netflix for streamed movies.

Amazon's selection of free stuff to stream isn't as extensive as Netflix, I've found. At least not in what I like to watch. They do, however, have a lot of things that Netflix doesn't have. We split a Prime membership with my brother but I don't intend on getting rid of our Netflix or even Hulu+ memberships just yet.

I'm assuming you meant Amazon Prime Video? As of now there is no Android app for it aside from GTV app (which only works on select TVs). There's one for Kindle tablets and Fire Phone, but no other Android devices have access to it. In fact, you can rip APK off the Kindle Fire or Fire Phone and sideload it on any Android phone, but they won't work and force close on any device other than Kindle. As of now, your only option to watch Amazon Prime Video on Android is to use browser that supports Flash, such as Dolphin Browser.
Amazon recently did mention that they may come up with an app for other Android devices soon, but that hasn't happened yet, and I doubt it will any time soon, so I'd say browser is your best bet.
Okay, apparently it seems the app recently got released. Here's the link to it.

Amazon Instant Video should already be available on Roku. What model of Roku do you have? Depending on the model, your other option is to use screen mirroring, so long as you have supporting media streaming device.

It could be because its international variant. They're very picky about that kind of things. You could try an app called Market Helper. It's an app that helps your device disguise as some other device so you can download "incompatible" apps from Play Store. It requires root access, but if you're interested, try the link below.
http://goo.gl/GYz7z0
If that doesn't work, well, I guess you could simply download the APK, and side load it. I did that on my Nexus 7, and it does work perfectly(it shows as incompatible on Play Store). Once you have the Amazon app, you can download Instant Video app from Amazon appstore right from Amazon app. They don't seem to check for compatibility on Instant Video app, so you should have no problem with that. It's kinda interesting as even though they say the tablets are "not supported" the app seems to adapt to tablet screen, changing UI element to fit the bigger screen. Anyways, below is the link to the APK I ripped off my phone. Enjoy
http://goo.gl/8fTK1b
Thanks! Trying the Market Helper (and ROM Toolbox) first...
Also if you have botbrew, can't you technically install Flash w/ Firefox and watch? Never tried it since it seems overkill, but would it work in theory?
