Well guys im sad to go - EVO 4G General

Well, I geuss this is it. I have had my OG EVO for 2 years, still with no 4G. I just cant see paying more to move to Verizon, especially without unlimited data. I decided it was time to retire the Evo as my daily use device. After some research and several trips to the sprint store to evaluate prospects I elected to go with the SGS3. I have already rooted it and feel like I learned nothing here. The Samsung root and flash process is way different compared to the HTC EVO. None the less, im happy with my decision, but will miss you guys and hopefully will see you soon over in the SGS3 forums.

Thank u for contributing oh so much to the evo and creating a goodbye thread that isn't allowed. I'm sure you will be missed dearly

Should xda give us our own portal?..They answered and said "YES"

Thanks to everyone that voted.
As for the 6 that voted No, have fun with your new EVO or Nexus One. I'm sure the $300-$400 is going to buy a great phone, but I'm going to hold off on it for a while.
Looks like we will have our own forum and sub-forums after the weekend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6206357&postcount=899
We fought for this a long while ago... And I have suggested many times... I don't think it will happen as much as this sub-forum needs it..
*edit.. When I refreshed it was there..
Absolutely, positively yes.
The GSM Hero and the CDMA Hero are completely different phones. More different, at least that the Sprint Hero and the Verizon Droid Eris. (In fact, if there was ever a reason to put two phones in the same forum, it would be the Sprint Hero and the Eris. They're the same damn thing with different colored plastic...)
Sprint may not be the biggest carrier, but they're still not small. The Sprint Hero deserves the same treatment as any other phone....
Yes Yes Yes ...
No joke. The stupidist phones have their own forum. Why cant the CDMA Hero?
For instance:
The HTC Wallaby...Seriously?? ROFL
HTC Universal: Look how lame it looks...
HTC Apache: It barely has 250 threads.
HTC Charmer: Barely has 200 threads.
Palm Treo: Has two forums dedicated to their pile of **** phones. Really now?
HTC Athena: Lame
And that folks is just the tip of the iceberg. The CDMA Hero has more threads than the G2. LOL
Yes and a mod or two. I sent in a request for this yesterday.
its not even just a want at this point, its more like a need.
I mean as much activity that this single forum gets daily is cause alone for us to have our own portal
About time. This saves me two clicks...
Yeah lets go on strike...
Awww ****... no one needs us..
Oh well we really do need this, i hope they look at the stats soon, We have probably close to the highest posts and threads made a day.
totally agree we need this, not only would it help organize everything but then there would be the general discution section where people can post thier random stuff and not get 6 lame threads saying "stop with the lame threads" as far as potential mods go my votes go to toast and obilisk
we needed this a long time ago
Guys, there is a place to ask for this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276306&page=89
I posted just a day or so ago and even offered to donate for their time and effort to make this happen.
Maybe.....IF you posted your thoughts in that thread they would take a look.
It is after all a thread/area where they say to post and they'll answer you maybe?
Thanks,
Bubba.

I don't know that I would have offered them 50.00.
And in fact it's NOT hard to create subsections for this. This bulletin board software is fairly standard. Probably take 10 minutes to create stuff. Getting the mods to move threads around would take a while, sure, but the subfora would be ready and usable in the meantime.
bump- back to first page
Who are the two ppl who said NO ?? They are certainly now owning a HTC Sprint Hero i believe
I agree. The subforum was a good idea when the GSM Hero had just been released and a CDMA version was still just a rumor, but now it is really its' own device with its' own community. We have no use for any of the GSM forums, all we have is this one dinky forum that expands at a collossal rate every day.

You should understand that phones such as the Wallaby and Apache(although not the XDA line) are some of the original HTC phones and those forums are what started XDA. The Apache was HTCs first major entry into the US CDMA market. XDA-developers has historically been for GSM phones(ie,XDA's) with CDMA hacking based over at ppcgeeks.com. Threads for the Apache are in the thousands there.
Only since the CDMA hero has there been real active dominant development of any cdma phone done here....
it would be nice to just separate the general talk from the dev talk... I used to think this was a dev forum and everything else should go in hero general talk, the general user base reminds me otherwise on a daily basis.
Lord help you if you actually suggest a topic be moved, people start accusing you of acting like a self proclaimed mod. I've pretty much given up posting in this section because of it.
LOL. Seriously??? The EVO is coming out this summer and 25% of the hero community will be leaving immediately and then another 25% will leave for it in 6 months after that!
MODS, this subforum is just fine.

I believe I am going to sell my EPIC (due to lack of dev support and constant drama)

I plan on selling my EPIC and maybe moving to the HTC Arrive. I am not sure what the hell is wrong with you people. There are not that many EPIC devs compared to other phones and all you can do is constantly bash or try to pick someone apart.
I came from TP2 phone and did most of my ROMs from PPCGeeks because it was a CDMA phone. I flashed ROMs from NRGZ, XPRESS, BIGNADAD. ect. I loved flashing a new ROM every day if one was out just to see what was new. I can only remember 2 instances ,within the year + I had that phone, where there was a problem among devs and they both seemed to carryover on something that happened on this site. When I got the EPIC I realized that I needed to be here to get the latest ROMs.
So there has been hardly a day that goes by with out some type pettiness or *****ing about this or that. You people make up fake accounts so you can go into other devs threads and make accusations or start a firestorm of ****. You fail to read or accept any prior explanations of where code, ideas, or apps come from. You expect everyone to jump on your bandwagon to railroad people out of the forums.
You people need to get over yourself and do what you came here to do. Not constantly look to see who slighted this person or fill a thread with so much *****ing and flame that you cant even do a proper search to find answers. I realize that I may have to close this account now but really you have just about ruined the fun in all this for me anyway.
Thread closed to avert undue drama.

Yet another farewell thread

T-Mobile was offering a web special on a free G2 for activating a new line. Even with Sprint's 2-year contract renewal, the Evo Shift 4G and Nexus S 4G cost $150 and $200, respectively. Also, 4.3" devices like the EVO 3D are of no interest to me. It was cheaper for me to cough up the early termination fee. My G2 should arrive on Monday.
Before I leave, I want to thank everyone who has positively contributed to my Android experience with the Hero. This development community continues to exceeded my expectations... I still find it hard to believe we're all content with running an Android with 1st generation hardware, and we have great devs to thank for that. Even after the legendary devs like toastcfh, nfinitefx45, and others have left, we have new great devs who filled in. And of course, thanks to all the regulars who keep this forum alive and provide a supportive environment (you know who you are). Although I'm not as talkative and dedicated as some of you, I just hope I've been able contribute my share of helping and support as well
you will be missed sir.. and i dont blame you thats a pretty good deal.. im too stuck on sprint to leave, they have been too good to me over the years.. but have often said that if i left i would go t-mo for some of their devices.. so God speed my friend, im sure we will see you floating around here somewhere..
A man it was a blast having you apart of the hero community. Thanks for all the knowledge and time you put into the hero forums. Take care and enjoy your new phone. Have a good one.
#Root/Hack-Mod_Always*
Thanks for the kind words everyone I'll probably still be checking up on the never ending progress that is aospCmod and the revived 2.6.35 kernel
Peace c00ller. Enjoy your new phone. It was fun
Cooller,
Thanks for the help that you have given to many. I, as many others I'm sure- and as you can see, appreciate what you have brought to the hero threads. I moved from Verizon to Sprint for the $ reason's as well and for me, it was a good move. I got my 1st android phone (our Hero's) and I found XDA. It has been a great experience (learning, fun, and a great way to kill some time) and you have been a part of making it so.
Good luck and happy flashing. I know that whatever phone you are using, you will still be apart of this great community on XDA and the jewels that are made and found here.
I think I feel a tear coming on. No, it was just gas.
Happy Flashing!
DP (I should have gone with DogPoop instead since I'm not drunk and not a pilot...today anyway).

Thank you, I am sad to leave.

I am sad to say I will be leaving the at&t and regretfully the ATRIX. I really think this phone would not be nowhere near as good as it is without the dev community this phone has. I am not leaving the ATRIX because I want to because I don't, but because the carrier that the phone is attached to has felt that they need to cancel my unlimited data without notice due to too much usage, and not be change it back to what I signed in contract, I can no longer afford it. I was currently working on a base rom as a dev platform for others to use and hopefully encourage and speed the process of others planning on new roms.I try to contribute where I can and I know I haven't contributed much, but I will continue this project and try to release it soon in hopes it will help someone else out. I guess what I want to say is thank you to this community for furthering my education of this platform and android in general. The ATRIX forums will be missed. If anyone is having any troubles with trying to do something pm me I will come back and hang out every once in a while.

It's been a good run!

Well everyone, I have officially left my EVO and Sprint for the Samsung Galaxy Note I717. I don't want to get into the technical or network reasons as to why, I just felt the need to and I love my new device.
Please know, I am going to miss everyone that stayed with arguably one of the best and well developed devices. I made a lot of friends here (you know who you are ) and hope to keep them. This forum taught me a lot...I never owned an Android powered device until my EVO. And I'm glad I did!
I'm still here on XDA...just a different forum now. If you ever want to stop by the Note I717 forums, feel free to give me a shout out. I have so much to learn and new friends to make. But my heart will also be attached to my OG HTC EVO 4G.
I never say goodbye...just see you later. As said in the U.S. Marine Corps...fair winds and following seas.
If anyone wants to follow me one twitter search @sag7392 or G+ number -104120724633888200210 ...I will also answer or follow you.
Holla' at ya' boy sometime!
