What is the latest Software Update? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK im new to the N7 and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Can someone tell me a version list. I'm JRO03D (this is what I'm talking about)
Is JRO03R the latest or the one before JRO03D?

D is the latest available OTA. R is the latest version available from AOSP. Some of the newer Nexus 7s have come preinstalled with S.

JZO54H

Hey guys! 4.1.2 was released, including a release for the NS with built version JZO54H. Anyone get ota?
I'd give a source, but I'm in class. Don't believe me? Look it up yourself.

NS ? Only device mentioned to get an OTA for now is the Nexus 7.
I've read also in other formu that Nexus S have soon android 4.1.2, at the moment in Italy only the Nexus 7 is starting to get the ota.
Don't trust blogs and forums, only good source for now is here : https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/android-building/2rkEoKMnhzU
Here's a nice changelog : http://www.funkyandroid.com/aosp-JRO03R-JZO54K.html

looks like all the following are set to get it:

tuna
wingray

grouper
Pushed into aosp and a ota are not the same thing.

We'll probably get it after N7 and GN, like it happened for 4.1.1.

Just bought 2nd N7

after doing what I would now consider (dumb as ****) OTA updates....what would you all recommend i do as far as unlock...root...and rom? or if i stay stock no updates.......what would you do?
4.2 is as fast as any of the 4.1.2 custom roms / kernels that i have run in the past and i have tried most of them, i am currently running stock rom rooted with lean kernel which is a nice combination until some custom roms come out
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
It all depends on what you plan to do with it. Personally, I require root because of otg+host mode charging, among many other reasons. Each person is different in what they want and or require. You could use the first to experiment with different things and leave the new one stock till you find a configuration you like. Good luck!

Would recommend just keeping stock until more 4.2 Roms become available, or flash the rooted 4.2 stock image that was released.

[Q] Want to downgrade to 4.1?

Currently running 4.2.1 and very pleased with it. But occasionally need to run an app. that no longer works on 4.2. But it does work on 4.1.
Was thinking I'd like to be able to flash a 4.1 ROM when I want. Is that possible; if so which ROM please, a CM ROM would be great?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Can't, 4.1 was never released on the nexus4.
You're better off contacting that developer and time to upgrade

There will never be a downgrade to a firmware that was never on the device in the first place. The N4 was released with 4.2, and no developer will create a 4.1 ROM for it

Shame, but I had expected that would be the answer
It's the MM Tracker application that is stuck only working on 4.1. Sadly the developer has had some hassle and isn't permitted to update anymore. Something in 4.2 broke it.

I suppose an Optimus G Rom can't be modded to work on our N4? Bluetooth issues are driving me nuts,
Edit: Never mind the Optimus G Forum is dead right now :cyclops:

It isn't even rolling out for people with the nexus 4 yet and that is the device it is rumored to on when you buy a new one in brazil.
This is how rumors get started.

I'd still take that with a good dose of skepticism. Editing the build.prop to show a different version isn't especially challenging and the release alphanumeric that's made the round online is not consistent with what Google actually uses. Likewise, if you browse that site, they don't exactly have the best track record vetting rumors for accuracy.

Depends on when it was manufactured.
R: Which Android stock version?
It was manufactured on January 03. So it should be normal. I was afraid it was sort of returned product.
