hey guys
so i am trying to root and unlock my Nexus 7
I am using the same computer i unlocked my LTE Gnex and rooted my dads Droid X.
My PC can't find my Nexus 7 in ADB. could it be because of the drivers from the past devices?
I made sure to enable usb debugging and have the OEM cable...
Any help
Thanks

did u reboot?
but yes, it could be a driver from past devices.
if u use the Nexus Toolkit, there's a step-by-step guide with embedded tools to search all existing devices. i think its called USBDeview? maybe u can google that separately.
Hello all, in an attempt to fastboot back to android 4.1.1 I ran into an issue.
1. as soon as I connect the USB cable, fastboot on my nexus freezes. I cant toggle betweenrecorvery, restart bootloader, etc.
2. Everything in fastboot in windows works fine, it just sits at waiting for device forever.
3. When trying to install the drivers through the nexus 7 toolkit, I run into an error "The resource loader cache doesnt have loaded MUI entry"
I'm not sure what to do, my nexus wont even let me into recovery mode. she sits on a bootloop.
I hope someone has a solution
I'm (unfortunately) running windows 8 and trying to install the drivers for windows 7 )I assume they're the same.
HELP!!! thanks,
Connor
Connor,
Yes, the Google USB driver is the same for Windows 7 and Windows 8. In fact, I just used ADB sideload with both my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, from Windows 8 RTM, earlier today. Here are some directions that might help you force install the Google USB driver:

Also, have you tried connecting your Nexus 7 to another computer, to see if it exhibits the same behavior?
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Trevor

Thanks! I force installed the google usb drivers from the sdk onto the "android device" and it worked!
Much appreciated
Hey all,
So I tried to flash Ubuntu Touch on my Nexus 7 and my computer wouldn't recognize my tablet as MTP. When I switch the tablet over to PTP mode, it gets recognized instantly. I'm not really sure what the issue is, I'm usually pretty good with solving issues like this but this one I can't seem to fix. I've tried on my Windows 8 pc and my Ubuntu 12.10 pc. Still, the same issue, PTP works, but MTP doesn't. Here is a list of things I've tried:
Nexus Root Toolkit (attempted all three driver install methods)
Flashing different ROMs
Flashing back to stock and re-locking device
Installing Ubuntu (not touch version)
Creating a new mount in /media/ in ubuntu
Anyone else have any ideas to throw out there for me to try?
thanks

Disable adb debugging and check whether it works
Also sometimes connecting phone in lock screen does not show drive in PC,unlock the lock screen and you may get it..
These steps maybe silly..
Bit they work sometimes
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Still is only recognized in PTP mode, no MTP support
I'm trying to use the Nexus Root Toolkit to do some work on my original Nexus 7, but I'm having driver issues.
A few notes:
The device is rooted running CM 10.2 (might be irrelevant)
My PC is running Windows 8.1 and is fully up-to-date
My PC does recognize my Nexus 5 with no issues. (rooted, stock)
I've tried MULTIPLE times to use the Nexus Root Toolkit's Driver Configuration Guide to get my drivers working with absolutely zero luck
My PC is recognizing the Nexus 7 in the "Devices and Printers" menu and I can access it as a mounted drive when USB debugging is disabled
I'll provide more information if I can, but I'm really beginning to get frustrated with this.
My device is showing up in the Device Manager as a "SAMSUNG ANDROID PHONE" device, which makes zero sense.
Please help?
Hi everyone.
I unsuccessfully tried to install Android 5.0 on my 2012 Nexus (as well as my Nexus 7 2013). Unfortunately the thing is stuck in a boot loop right now.
I can still get into recovery mode, however, neither of my laptops can detect the Nexus 7. I use a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows 8.1 and I can not access the storage from either.
Can anyone please help me out with this problem?
... hope someone responds with suggestions.... have similar problem... installed Android 5.0, get 'flaky' ops & Pc can't detect tablet... how do I get back to And 4.4.4??
Have you guys made sure you have the updated Asus drivers for pc
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
My windows 7 PC didn't recognize my n7 in recovery until I disabled MTP (found under "Mount" in TWRP), then I could connect to it using ADB.
