sorry! i was typing it from my lagging tablet.
yeah it loads in a small screen in the upper left hand side of the tablet, then just quits a few screens later. havent been able to figure it out, but i see that people in the market with the n7 are able to play it just fine.
flashed AOKP r4, still has same problem.
dont see any threads about this issue specificall.y
First off, for me yes it works... Running stock rooted... I havent had any issues...
as for the other thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893566
Good luck
Works fine for me on stock unrooted. Did you buy it from the play store? I've heard of it not working on custom Roms due to DPI change or the navigation bar. Others would hide the navigation with some option then it would work
exactly the same way for me as you described. running on paranoid android and i changed all the settings but none work.
i live in a country where it's not available though. but it works on my phone so what the heck

I have paranoid android so I can change the mode and DPI though
I've used the natural dpi: 213, and played around with every single mode, nothing works..
i think i'm giving up with this game.. i loved it on my phone (3.7 inch) and would LOVE to play it on my nexus 7,
but no matter what settings I tried, it's like OP described:
it loads the beginning with a small window in the upper left, and shows me 1 full screen picture of the scoreboard then quits.
sigh.. i have downloaded their 260mb game data many times too
---------- Post added at 08:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:47 PM ----------
just want to say i finally got the game to work. the culprit was my status bar, which i made the size shorter in the settings of paranoid android. i want to thank some guy's blog, as he mentioned the game stuck to the exact same pixels, so you cant edit the status bar.
thank him and thank you all!! boomshakalaka!!

Can anyone do that? Like a little review.
I would like to see the notifications and the lancher.
I was hoping for the same thing a few hours ago but couldn't find anything. Basically just wanna see how the notification expansions work and how fluid the os is in tablet mode. Probably comparable performance but I just wanted to make sure xD
I would also love to see this

The Nexus 7 does run in Tablet UI mode - only the home screen is hybrid.
What you want is a video of the tablet running with the DPI mod.

If you want to get technical then yes it is running in tablet mode, with a Hybrid Launcher BUT I still believe it's hybrid UI since even while in apps, you still get the hybrid/phone-like softkeys and notification bar.
Yes I would like a video of a nexus 7 running the DPI mod and showing a brief overview of menus, opening apps and notifications.

Everything is actually noticeably faster for me including the web browser. The default music player it has is pretty awesome too. Task bar is good. The only problem I have so far is the default web browser is having trouble with JW player. Every time I try to play a clip it goes to a 403 forbidden error. Other than that, it's a lot snappier than the ICS rom I had before (also MIUI, Oodie Prime).

Benchmarks don't mean anything. Plus you can't judge a phone running a different version of android against another, you will never have a semi accurate reading. I don't have lag in the playstore so it could be caused by your WiFi, data connection or possibly the stock rom. I am running AOKP which has been great.
This phone doesn't like to be overclocked either so I don't recommend trying that at this time and I believe most kernels removed the option too because people were overclocking then running benchmarks which killed their phones. Use MSKIPS Nexus 4 tool to root and install CWM, its the simplest way to do this.

mine isnt that responsive. i find myself making a slew of double and triple clicks. not to mention the pinch to zoom and scrolling responsiveness blows chunks for everyone.
I have none of these issues and it sounds like you are talking about screen sensitivity and not the cpu..
And apparently it cannot "blow chunks" too badly or you would return it.
I think these issues are all blown out of proportion. I don't see many or any actually that are parting with the Nexus 4 due to these things.. Personally I don't notice any lagging at all and the touch screen sensitivity really isn't something related to the lagging the op was referring to mentioning benchmarks anyways .

Play any type of game that uses the CPU intensively. Once the thermal throttling kicks in, you'll notice the stutter.
And the zooming sensitivity is out of whack. It's like i have to molest and grope my screen in order to get the same distance that I would get from my N7000 with a slight pinch-to-zoom.
Moved to Q&A as this is where you ask questions. Please post in the relevant sections going forward.
Thanks

As you know, the DPI on the Nexus 7 is 213, which is somewhat non-standard. This makes all the icons appear a bit blurry, especially noticeable on the phablet notification bar. I run mine on 240, which looks much better.
Have you ever noticed this, and does it bother you at all?
Paranoid Android @ 160dpi.
I honestly never noticed that as something odd, I just thought it was designed like that. App icons are a bit blurry, I have noticed that, but not all of them. Stock apps and some other too have very nice, crisp icons (Firefox for example, I won't check all of them)
I'm running stock ROM with stock DPI and I like it a lot. I don't care for tablet modes or anything, nexus 7 feels like a bigger version of phone android, which suits me a lot, since I use it in portrait mostly.

Within android on certain devices the different ui modes were triggered by the DPI changes. 320= phone 213= phablet and 160 was full tablet mode. Since Google has changed to the one mode to rule them all mentality I don't think it matters for much other then possible play store incompatibilities for the off standard DPI settings.

Well, the main thing is the icons. They were made with the standard DPIs in mind, and they just scale to match the others, which makes them look worse.

Yea that's true. I generally stick with 160 for everything. Even on my s3 I had it. It was a Lil small but manageable for me. I don't even see why some devices use 320 at all haha that should probably be an accessibility setting.

I wish paranoid stuck with the cyanogenmod base instead of vanilla aosp as well. The ROM was much better in 4.1.2 with cm. The 4.2 aosp version just feels clunky and less stable. CM fixed a lot of this Google broke in 4.2 and there settings organization is much better than paranoids at the moment. Paranoid is missing a lot of settings as well too.

213 is actually tvdpi...lol.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
213 seems to be the magic number for nexus 7 flavour android, not tablet mode, but not phone mode either. 240 is phone DPI so the notification drawer fills the screen and there's no settings pull son on the right, it has then icon in the notification drawer or you can do the two finger pull down. Also on 240 you can't have multi-user as it thinks it is a phone and displays the appropriate lockscreen without the ability to change user.
I like 240 but the multi-user problem is a deal breaker.

I've tried several: 280, 300, 320, 360, 400 & 420...all worked fine but you'd see issues in certain apps, and certain apps would jump into tablet mode (pretty sure that was on the lower ones, of course).
I stuck on 420 since it still shrinks things considerably down from the stock 480 but most apps don't have overlapping or other issues. The only app I've noticed an issue is the dialer, but not the phone on inbound or ongoing calls, just when you are dialing the number. You can still see the numbers and hit each with no problem, it's just shrunk up a little strangely. Other than that I'm loving 420 (no pun intended ). :good:
Awesome. What are you using to change dpi? On my note 2 with exposed you were able to choose dpi per application, anyone know if the module is working for that?

I stuck on 420 since it still shrinks things considerably down from the stock 480 but most apps don't have overlapping or other issues. The only app I've noticed an issue is the dialer, but not the phone on inbound or ongoing calls, just when you are dialing the number. You can still see the numbers and hit each with no problem, it's just shrunk up a little strangely. Other than that I'm loving 420 (no pun intended ). :good:

If you use the method above with exposed and app settings mod your phone app will be perfect.

Thanks for mentioning that module. I hadn't taken the time to look through all the options as I downloaded and set up a ton through Wanam's module and was pretty satisfied. Really glad you mentioned it so I can get the one wrinkle ironed out. Appreciate it bro!
If anyone plays around with SystemUI DPI and sees it kick into tablet mode with the bottom navigation bar please do tell which DPI setting!

I read in other threads that you were really interested in getting the bottom bar style tab mode going, and I know I mentioned tablet mode above in my response but that was only in apps, the System UI never changed...and I believe the person who responded to you in the other thread is correct - 4.3 android doesn't have that built in to the system UI as an option.
For example, before my Note 3 I had an Nexus 4 and was running Paranoid Android - the developers had to basically make tablet mode from scratch to keep the traditional bottom bar style going after 4.3. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I thought you should know. Of course somebody could endeavor to build it like PA did or we could get PA at some point but without that I doubt you'll find your holy grail anytime soon.
Also guys you'll want the play store fix. Play store by default will his apps based on your dpi, This mood will fix that.

There's a mod for it in exposed. Tabletui trigger. Try that out.

Hey everyone,
Was wondering if anyone had tested various DPI settings and have a list of working ones?
Gui on this phone is way to large.

Yeah, I use either 320 or 360 mostly when I want to change an app. 320 can be a little bit too small sometimes, but right around that zone I think is ideal. Though I really haven't changed a ton of apps, mostly System, Chrome, reddit, Facebook, XDA, Go SMS that I can think of off the top of my head.

Update:
I changed the system ui to 420, along with Novo(remove shadow from desktop), and messaging and it looks perfect.
Fyi this doesn't break or distort the phone app.

Agreed, though I went as low as 360 for System, just because I wanted notifications to be shorter in the pull down so I can see more. I usually have several persistent ones in there now, so I want to be able to see all of my actual notifications as well.
See attached for notification size @ 360 dpi.
