Hi Guys, many ROM all over this forrum many people somtimes feel confused about all this roms.
I want so say that for my personal opinion we should look for the development of the stock missing things that we all would like to have in this phone.
I recently tried a MIUI ROM from erenz1202 and i really love it, so for me the dreamed ROM should have the following.
1- DLNA
2- faster Startup
3- improved Peformance, Smoothness and Battery
4-Better memory management (stock too laggy)
5- Auto LED Flash (For at least take pics in dark)
6- Radio (i think it's not possible)
7- Apps2SD
8- BRAVIA (I do not care)
9- Stability
Count on my donation if this is possible...
And you, what's your dreamed ROM?
Thanks
Have got mine running wolfs rom with doomlords kernel. Smooth, fast and my battery lasts two days under normal conditions.
Have modded the rom to my liking, and set up link2sd with 1gb partition. I don't see my x10 getting any better really.
My only wish is to be able to change songs with long hold of volume buttons when screen is off like I could with 2.2.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
what is the best kernel for x10 brother??
Less useless tweaks and better battery and stability.
Performance ROMS are usually placebos on battery and stability e.g phone becomes laggy after 12 hours without reboot whereas uptime for stock was almost 56 hours.

Well..
My dream ROM is definitely MIUI ROM 1.9.9
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
my dream rom would be sense had it on my pure loved it but wanted android didnt have the money for an htc so got the x10 (it was free with upgrade) but if any one can make a rom that is just sense like just the clock and the weather animations that would be my dream rom
Please vote this thread to be in the front page, as i think this is important... thank you!
i'm making this thread for the people that say "hey! lets see some user opinions..." those users are right... most of the devs put "super smooth, ultra fast, smooth as butter, bla bla bla... some of them are right, some of them are way over reacting with the speed saying "i'm sorry i was drunk when i made this ROM" (no offence devs), as some ROMs are just too slow to work on...
Virtuous Unity: I've spent 2 hours downloading this ROM, and spent 30 minutes seeing it, then ending up flashing back to another ROM... the lag was too much... i didn't install anything, and my cellphone was lagging like a celeron CPU running Crysis 2
MIUI.us: this ROM is best for its performance, stability, and look... its really the best in performance comparing it to full ROMs (not bare-bone ROMs)... spent 2-3 days with it... great ROM... Recommended for basic "rooters" for the people who are new to rooting stuff, flashing ROMs, etc...
CM7.1 (stock): this AOSP ROM is good for people who want performance, look, design, and multi-tasking... although there are mods to make it even better... I recommend this ROM for new people who want to get familiar with "tweaks" and stuff...
Virtuous G-Lite: this ROM combines AOSP power, and HTC's apps... its super fast, super smooth, but lacks of customization comparing it to ILWT CM7... spent litterally 10 minutes with it, then came back to ILWT CM7... so its not a big review... btw, i see virtuous i think sense ROM, i don't know why this happens to be AOSP...
Virtuous Sense 2.0: this ROM is the best sense ROM yet, it may be offering that old sense 2.1, but its proven that htc desire z will never run sense 3.x smoothly, without some tweaks made... But this ROM offers sense look, as well as moderate performance comparing it to other ROMs... Still, its so much better than stock unrooted ROM... Clocked at 998MHz, it has a score of 2604 in benchmark (AnTuTu)... Until now... Its been less than one day that i'm using it, it just sucks the bettery really hard... Battery just went down from 100 to 90 in 1 hour standby.... It maybe me... But thats my "adventure"... Lacks customization compared to ILWT CM7... Someone once told me: "dude! People buy HTC for HTC sense... Theres no point of buying HTC and ending up replacing sense by AOSP... That's breaking the whole point of HTC cellphones"... And you know what? He's right!
ILWT CM7 (current) : i have tried all of the other ROMs and ended up reverting back to this bad boy for it is the best ROM/MOD i have ever seen... clocked at 1GHz, this ROM runs smoothly... everything is customizable... every pixel... best ROM yet! I ran a benchmark (AnTuTu) in it and got a score of 2950... and i had a 51 seconds boot time the good thing is that it's a full ROM, yet fast... you don't get that in every ROM...
binDROID sense 3.5 : without any tweaks, this ROM is awesome in look, but its a total fail in performance (talking WITHOUT tweaks), after i flashed the ROM, i rebooted, waited for about 5 minutes to let the phone finish his work (that's a lot!) I thought after 5 mins the sense UI could be a little smooth (at least smoother than virtuous), turns out, this ROM has even more lag than virtuous... What did the dev think when he implemented some graphics tweaks, that actually killed performance? one of those tweaks were this:
when i go from window to window (ie in the settings) i get massive lag, why? I noticed that the transition between every screen is actually a glow of everything written... So, eveyrthing typed in the previous window glows, then goes to the other window...
I might have to do some tweaks to it... Then, hopefully, post a good review... Benchmark (AnTuTu): 2598 (that's bad!)... used it for 1 day... then reflashed ILWT CM, the big daddy
BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid: Words can't describe how awesome this ROM is... All other sense 3.5 ROMs say "smooth, fast, performance"... But this ROM actually is smooth and fast... It offers all the good looks of sense, yet good performance... Definitely better than binDROID ROM... Got a benchmark of 2616... Which is slighlty better than virtuous... spent 2 days with it... and then back to ILWT... i'll probably melt my emmc chip soon this is one of my best recommended sense ROMs here...
RCMix sense 3.5 blue edition: although it has a really bad benchmark (2571) its not as laggy as all other sense 3.x ROMs... strange? I'd say... Even without any tweaks, i get 100MB free of RAM... Thats good for multi tasking its heavily themed to provide a tasty look... its a medium performance ROM... i can't wait for more development to this ROM
MikRunny Sense 3.5 : This is without a doubt one of the fastest sense ROM i have ever seen... Proof? This ROM score 2710 in the benchmark... No lag whatsoever... Whats good is that it's look is original... The look is not modded, but looks like stock sense 3.5... And that battery bar tweak, nice touch... Been waiting for it... I say good work for the dev... Keep up!
Although i'm saying this ROM is cool, this ROM is fast... i keep reverting to ILWT because of the speed, all sense ROMs lags and freezes... some are better than others... but at the end, AOSP rules them all!
Virtuous Quattro: three letters... ICS... its android 4.0.3 ported from htc desire s, although its in beta stage, camera doesn't work, hardware keyboard backlight has some bugs... it score 2239 in AnTuTu benchmark (thats... good, for a beta...) it has the stock launcher (no trebuchet)... its smooth, fast, and full of animations... nice job devs! blew my mind! this ROM have some huge activity going on... devs are working hard to improve it, and makes me wanna learn all about making a ROM... awesome!... its not stable and i don't recommend it as daily driver ROM...
EDIT: i want to note that the quattro review was on BETA 1... some fixes has been done since beta 1... cam now works
COREDROID Desire Z: while offering the sweet sense 3.5 and android gingerbread 2.3.5 its not so fast, not so smooth, and its really, really unstable... (Dunno why) every app i enter force closes... Even native apps... Scoring 2656 in the benchmark (AnTuTu) its somewhat bad... But better than some sense 3.x ROMs
Virtuous affinity: FINALLY, after months of torturing, and frying emmc chips, i finally switch to this ROM... and i must say that this was the WORST ROM that i've tried... sorry devs, lots of devs have put effort on it... but come on! "ultra smooth rosie" is way off... i know you can't wait for benchmarks results... but before that i want to tell you that when i was making the benchmark, the phone shut down and wouldn't turn on.... so i took the battery off... waited for about 5 mins.... tried to turn it on, and it didn't... i thought it was a brick (dunno why!) but i abused the "bug" in CWM, and connected the phone into the charger, it booted to recovery, then i restored my freshly made ILWT backup.... so i never did make a successfull benchmark... seriously, it sucks.... but that was just my experience..... maybe i wasn't lucky enough... maybe
Android revolution HD 7.0 : offering stock sense 3.5 look, feel, usability... All those are stock.... And full hardware acceleration support, it is blazing fast, super cool, awesome looking, and stable... Enough chit chat.... AnTuTu benchmark scored a whopping 2839!! I'm begining to loose hope in AnTuTu because no ROM could challenge ILWT's benchmark, specifically sense based ones.... thats my new best sense 3.x ROM
InsertCoin ROM: as awesome as this ROM is, it has some weird things going on... I had problems with the superuser app forrce closing and keep telling me it needs su binary update, when no update needed really... Another thing was the running processes in the settings-applications... It says its using 50MB of RAM... JUST 50? It can't be...
I know this ROM is kinda dead, but wait... It scored an amazing 2663 AnTuTu benchmark.... Better than virtuous sense 2 which people are obsessed with.... Its so smooth, fast, multitasking is great with it... People complained about battery, but after updating su, its so much better... Awesome sense 2 ROM
LeeDROID sense 3: you won't believe how much this ROM scored... It scored a frikin' 2866!! (even higher than ARHD) While offering stock sense 3, it has some awesome tweaks... And i like the speed of it... Strangely, i find the normal tweaks better than the ultra smooth rosie tweak... It has 150MB of free RAM while using the multitasking option in the supercharger script... But one problem is that it has major launcher restarts that the dev didn't solve it while installing the ROM... I managed to manually put "ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1" code into the /data/local.prop file to make it stuck in RAM... But other than that AWESOME ROM!!
EDIT: been having launcher crashes lately, so i moved back to ILWT (again!)
BeatMod Supremacy: It offers the great ICS operating system and the light sense 3.6 launcher... Its strangely responsive comparing it to AOSP ICS... Htc really made a good job... Other than sense it has the usual ICS bugs (cam doesn't work at all... Some bluetooth bugs...) But hey! Its a beta, its good for a beta... I'm keeping it as dd for now... AnTuTu benchmark scored 3185
other users ROM Opinion:
Nagash91
My review are based on comparison with original HTC sense ROM from HTC, updated to gingerbread and sense 2.1.
I give the vote "7" to all features in standard DZ rom (stability obviously = 10) and from that I started to make comparison with other roms.
MY VOTE SYSTEM:
- battery life = .. well.. battery life of the phone using the ROM !
- reactivity = response capabilities in any situation. Vote down if there is some lag in some standard situation (make a call, listening miusic while sending sms or looking in contacts and so on). This is very important in some extreme situation, for example when you are late and you have to do something with your phone, like check some information by a site and text a friend in a short time, you are under pressure and if your phone does not have a good response you go mad.
- multitasking = capabilities of using a lot of services and heavy programs switching from one to another without lags (more free ram = more multitasking capabilities)
- functionality = useful and cool stuff that the rom provides. For example CM provides a lot of useful stuffs like power menù widget customizable, power menù statusbar, DSP Manager, font size editable (with spare parts), mms phone and contacts apks customizable, volume-buttons-skip-song function and so on.
- stability = The vote is 10 if the rom is STABLE. The vote falls if the rom suffers of random reboot, or force closes.
STOCK HTC SENSE GingerBread (DZ Shipping Rom updated)
Good sense rom. Standard on dz.
battery life: 7
reactivity: 7
multitasking: 7
functionality: 7
stability: 10
based: sense 2.1
Android: 2.3.??? (don't remember)
-------------------------------
CM Nightly 263
Great rom for functionality, thanks to cm team, but there are some CM based rom more optimized than original CM!
But this is a great rom, all is working, you do not need to personalize, hack or flashing nothing else over rom and google apps for optimum results.
battery life: 8
reactivity: 8
multitasking: 8
functionality: 9
stability: 10
based: cyanogenMod
android: 2.3.7
----------------------------
EliteMod 1111227
Excellent ROM: Is the cyanogenMod based ROM that I LOVE. Have more battery life than cm nightly/7.1, more free ram (-> more multitasking ability) and more reactivity.
It has also the MIUI camera that I love.
If you are looking to CM features and TMobile AOSP lightness, this rom is for you!
I don't like the graphic personalization in launcher pro, but it can be edited easily.
battery life: 8.5
reactivity: 8.5
multitasking: 9
functionality: 9+
stability: 10
based: cyanogenMod
android: 2.3.7
------------------------------
ILWT CM/ 258
Great ROM for customization
The votes do not have much validity with this rom, because I changed the original settings using virtuous OC daemon and other stuffs.
BTW I was using ILWT kernel.
This rom is the CM rom that allows you to customize everything easily, with a simple text file. It has also a new kernel by ILWT.
battery life: 8
reattività: 8+
multitasking: 8+
functionality: 9+
stability: 10
CUSTOMIZABLE
based: cyanogenMod
android: 2.3.7
------------------------------
GLite 2.0.1
The BEST ROM with standard android GUI (no HTC customization), but suffers from a lack of features! (because it is standard AOSP android, so no power widget menù, no personalization in mms / telephone / contacts /camera apks.. ecc..)
It is the lightest ROM, the best for battery life, the best for multitasking that I have ever seen!
battery life: 9
reactivity: 9
multitasking: 9.5
functionality: 5
stability: 10
based: TMOBILE AOSP
android: 2.3.4
------------------------------
Mini MI 1.12.23
Good MIUI rom! better than original MIUI rom because is lighter and have more functionality.
MIUI roms don't have good capabilities for multitasking.. the program are heavy for ram consumption, for example only the music program use more than 20mb of ram vs 10 of AOSP roms. BTW the programs have beautiful visuals, and have more functionalities than CM programs.
battery life: 7
reactivity: 7
multitasking: 6.5
functionality: 9+
stability: 9
based: MIUI 11.12.23
android: 2.3.7
For now it's all. I have tried a lot of other roms (sense based) but I have to decide the votes and what to write. I'll put in some days.
( I'll treat the physical appearance of the thread in the future, if people like this idea! )
thank you for reading this... if you have any comments, feel free to post... i maybe wrong in something... but that's just my opinion...

Posting quadrant results (an outdated benchmark... VERY outdated) should be frowned upon. Get something modern like Antutu or Nenamark...

I like a fast ROM with rock solid reliability and no glitches or force closes and everything works as it should + crazy long battery life!!
I have tried every ROM in the OP's original post, but my all time favorite and daily driver is G-lite 1.07 with some additional optimizations of my own.

Any sense 3.5 is not smooth on its own, but you need to apply mods like Rom cleaner and supercharger script, swap partition and after applying all these mods, I've ran all 3.5 roms like virtuous affinity and rcmix3d butter smooth.
Talking of unity, I've ran it without lag without any modifications.

Good thread.
Just wondering, in your opinion which of these roms you reckon meet the following criteria:
CPU: clocked to 1ghz
Nice graphic design - nothing bare boned otherwise I'll get bored of it very quickly
Leaves a bit of juice in the battery after a long day
(I realized that increasing the CPU and asking for a rom with nice graphics is not going to so much for the battery but thought I'll throw it out there anyway)
The reason I asked is that after nearly a year I'm getting bored of my HTC Desire Z which is currently running stock gingerbread: 2.3.3 and Sense: 2.1.
So I would like to put a new rom onto it based on the above criterias.
Also this will be new to me as I have never installed a custom made rom on the phone before. So yeah, I'm a noob.
cheers and apologies if I'm highjacking this thread....

i recommend CM7 (stable... NO nightlies) for you... since you are new at this: CM7.1 (not the nightly) is the stable ROM, fast, almost looking good (you can get themes)... ILWT CM7 is a nightly ROM (nightlies are like "beta"... may not be stable) this ROM is a litttle better than CM7.1... it has an overclockable kernel for you to have a 1GHz CPU clock (like mine)
EDIT: added the boot time of ILWT CM7

exactly, that is why it is lightning fast and has mucho free RAM and yet has unbelievable battery life - other ROMs compromise one or more of these!
I think I can say I've tried EVERY G2 Rom for a year now, and ILWT is the gotdamn bees knees. When I found out that tsubus was contributing (albeit minimally) to the ICS projects, I sent him a pm to let him know I'm glad he is a part of it.
If you're going to post benchmark scores, at least do it for all the roms listed.
That being said,I just scored 2732 @ 1GHz on antutu using bulletproof miui so I'm not really sure why you even list the numbers if at least one of the other roms seems to beat it. Albeit not by much, but still, if you're posting those numbers as proof that it's the fastest ROM, you should show numbers for everyone listed there..
Just a thought

those numbers doesn't proove anything... i posted those numbers just as info.... because i spent alot of time with it, so i'm giving all info i can give to it... plus 2732 isn't that big of a difference... ILWT is just mire customizable than MIUI, more professional... at the cost of 3 points though

I am looking for a rom on this device to flash for a friend. Jb is hot on dev. However haven't seen any rom which could be a daily driver(with good battery backup).
My friend is not a power user and cannot flash roms daily which is y I am looking for a great lightweight from to be used as a daily driver.
Please suggest which roms according to you are most "stable" in your humble opinions.

Remics (ICS) is a really good ROM. They are currently working on a JB ROM that I'm sure will be great as well. I am running hellybean on both of my devices (daily). Except for GPS,( mine has never worked) it is great. The GPS works flawlessly on my captivate with this ROM. You might have better luck with it. Check hellybean out on dev thread and here is a link to remics ICS.

Well having tried every OS version thats come out for vibe (2.1->4.1)...
-Eclair is just a downgrade from our froyo roms,
-Froyo works, batt life is good, theyre stable and the only issue i can find with it is the lack of later OS features, and the speed is somewhat mediocre (tho not slow),
-Gingerbread is FAST, and pretty stable (save for a random reboot once in a while).. my reason for leaving was the battery life; it sucked.
-honeycomb was just experimental lol.
-ICS was beast: stable, fast, feature-full and looooong batt life... then the encryption unsuccessful bug scared me off. If youre not aware of it, look it up cause its pretty serious.
-JB is what im on now and i can say its got everything but stability. It gives me random reboots somewhat often and bugs here and there. Sometimes programs will crash, FB crashes more often than not, and at one point my baseband/imei decided just to go away and i had to reflash during class with 20% battery just to get signal again.
Bottom-line, id stick to froyo if i wrre you, and for the record, im ddowngrading to froyo too when i have time
Sent from my SGH-T959 running 4.1.1
Also not sure if the 911 issues are completely fixed for ICS / GB. (Ive been away for a while)
Safest bet for stability, battery life, and awesome GPS would be a Froyo [2.2 or 2.2.1] ROM.
I successfully used Moped_Ryder's Ez_Ryder Kb5 v2 (this is an older one) for MONTHS, until some idiot (me) changed the lock screen to the one that we were clearly warned about in the first post... After that I tried the Bionix-V FishmanMod V4 - was also awesome. I see there's a Moped_Ryder/Fishman mod'd bi-winning out there now too - that was one of my all time favorites...if it were me flashing for a friend, I'd start by looking at this one...
Now...OP...you said you're doing this for a friend - if I was flashing something for a friend, I'd...probably...pick one of the above, and be done with it. That said...
I recently flashed ICZen (have to go to rootzwiki to get that one) - which was pretty friggin' nice - I have since found a couple other vibrant owners using ICZen as their daily driver...both had someone else flash it for them...and from what I understand, they haven't had a problem yet - but if they do, you know who will be fixing it for them. Read carefully before considering this though.
Then yesterday...I was bored, and decided to try the 9/4 version of Helly Bean...GPS isn't awesome, I can't tell on battery life because I'm playing with my phone 10x as much as usual, but everything else seriously kicks ass. The email app is finally functional enough so I don't have to install touchdown (which isn't a problem...just...would prefer to be able to use the built in apps - personal preference). I'm keeping this one for as long as I can - but I'm also ready to ODIN to stock and/or flash another ROM at the drop of a hat...I wouldn't do this for a someone else...yet...
I have to cast my vote for REM ICS 1.3.1 UX without a doubt the best looking, most customizable, overclockable and snappy-est running rom I've ever used! I am desperately waiting for the iron clad version of their JB one so I am keeping with the ICS one for now. I use NOVA launcher which gives you great scrolling animations that makes my Iphony buds real jealous. It also allows you to customize buttons, switch to 5 x 5 spacing (or higher if you want) grid instead of stock 4 x 4 for icons and widget space, and gives you a scrollable bottom doc and all sorts of other great features.
Couldn't be happier with that combo. Yeah you might still get an occasional force close but they're real rare and always have something to with the 3rd party app. Everything it comes with works like clockwork for me. :good: REM ICS! Oh and it has the most beautiful startup animation!
I'm really tired of trying the buggy custom ROMs on my Arc S, anymore. Every few days, the devs(many of them "devs") release a new ver. with more bugs. Even in Aroma?! Tried almost every ROM and everytime there are bugs. And if, by mistake, there aren`t, the dev decide's to make an update and spoil the hole thing. And sometimes the update is just visual, but other bugs appear. And the bugs are so common in most of the roms, that I think all the devs just visually customise the same buggy rom.
Havin in mind the above, I want a stock rom, with only improvement - no lag in phone app and camera, quickpanel settings with % battery, may be a camera mod, for better pics and AOSP look, and no stupid rom updates that bring bugs. Want a rom for the rest of my phone's life.
Is there a solution for me, or I'm just dreaming
solution - unpack ftf and do it on your own, it's not that hard given the time spent posting this thread..
Hmm I think you are better off to stock fw. And I think you dont deserve the hard works they put on to this for free

This is why it pays to learn, then you can mod your own ROM to your own taste.

Only real answer. And I guess I'll do it myself. Better than a 13 year old, who cries for donation. The real Devs were on samdroid once upon a time...

exactly my thoughts
But Remix ICS ROM is a good rom too, I know it was full of mistakes in aroma installer, but the rom performance is great, only need to remove and add few stuff and is a great rom
At the beginning I thought that jader was another "ChaozFirZen" """developer""" but after trying his ROM I was surprised how fast his rom is, also stable, way better than many ICS roms, he deserves 5 stars on his thread
Dear XDA developers, modders and users i am curious to know do you like more performance and stability of android 2.3 and older or looks and apps of android 4.0 and newer.
I prefer GB roms because for everyday use ICS/GB roms destroy my already weak battery, are slow and unstable imo , also when i download a rom i remove stuff i dont need and add stuff i do.
I edit roms but never publish them as my original work
Check how fast is it these two roms with 50+ user apps. Htc wildfire still good to go.
Check out my htc vdo shots below:
miniCM7 rom
CM7 Nightly Rom
I also froze a few system apps, what do u add and remove, can you plz make a vdo sneak peak.
My vote is for Performance.
Thanks

Well i havent got time for making videos now ,but if you are interested in my roms then i do the following:
* depending on the rom size and features
- gallery
- fm radio
- latinIME
- tts and picotts
- some fonts
- alarms, notifications and ringtones
- gapps if available
- cwm ( i used revolutionary so cwm is not necessary
- cmwallpapers
- bootanimation.zip
+ file manager
+ quickpic
+ keyboard ( using hackers keyboard in this moment )
+ beats sometimes
+ custom ringtones and notifications
+ sometimes i edit the framework-res
conclusion - nothing complicated but by removing apps, fonts , boot animation i shave off +- 20mb of rom size and speed up boot to around 35-40 seconds
and in my barebones rom (cm7 based) i have removed all apps that are safe to remove except :
-music
-camera
-mms
-[App that ive possibly forgot to mention]
and in total my barebones rom has 50mb which i use when i fck up something ( my ubuntu didnt recognize android 4.0 as a usb drive so i couldnt change the rom ; when stuck in bootloop ) because it installs faster and its a good alternative as a rom to give to my younger sister
Because its faster i also change the default wallpaper in roms that i download
Curently i use TouchWiz with sympfinity kernel V4.5 its fast and battery efficient ( and FABULOUS )
P.S. yes wildfire is still good to go but development in xda is ceasing and it has no gpu. Technology is becoming better every day so i will update in the near future but wildfire is a legend and should not be forgotten
Well we still got some people doing good work, have you tried the AOKP light continued by wasimk32 ? I run it smooth and fine with smartass and preety much 5 hungry apps installed other than gapps; I'm only using it for about 5 days now but i did not feel the need to run supercharger, wich is more than i can say for latest gingerbread stock cm considering aokp is ics based.
Also if you want looks+even better performance you can give JellyBread a try made by wasimk32 aswell, i installed it and when i saw my willy fly troughout the apps and menus like a galaxy S2 i almost teared up a bit xD.
Bottom line: I think we can get probably another decent year where we can say willy kept up before we start using it for only its phone-text functions .

ok will try it out, thanks
this poll is no longer a poll its a discussion thread
When I still had my wildfire it was always performance for me. Cm7 was a godsend over that bloody stock Rom. But when it all came down to it as long as I had a fully working flashplayer I was happy
