This page is dedicated to make a stable ICS-JB for the Motorola Atrix
Brief history about the project:
- Un unstable ICS for Motorola Atrix was leaked
- Developers worked on integrating kernel and drivers into existing build
- Kernel was found to be very unstable and new kernel is being ported to Atrix
- While we wait for the kernel, an ICS CM9 build is ready for anyone willing to join the challenge
Next step:
- Developers should get involved in fixing/enhancing the current build
- Code submission is done by forwarding the changes to the head development team for inclusion
Build source code is all available to anyone willing to participate. The build process follows CyanogenMOD builds.
Source Code location: https://github.com/MROM/android/tree/ics

Dear fellow Atrix owners,
We all know by now that Motorola has cancelled the plans for upgrading to ICS, I was hoping myself to get the new drivers to update my own rom to ICS or JB. Well, this is not going to happen...
What do we do now?
We can either assume this is the death of this revolutionary device, or work on the Re-Birth. You probably know, but there are a group of developers working on upgrading the current Gingerbread version to ICS or JB. I am personally one of them...
We all need your help... we are donating our precious time and resources to make the Atrix 4G a better device that could last for another year or two, however, alone, we cannot continue with this...
WE NEED YOUR HELP...
If you are still reading this message, good, now it's time to decide if the Atrix is going to die in the couple of months or live for some time. We are looking for:
- People that can write code and troubleshoot (Android Java and C/C++)
- Testers
- Project managers (believe it ICS or JB is a full SDLC project)
- Android Advanced users not too scared of trying something new on their phones
- Donate Atrix Devices that you no longer need
- Of course, donations to at least justify the amount if time we spend on this
- If I forgot something, please reply to this thread with suggections
Again, you decide DEATH or RE-BIRTH
Take Care

It is certainly great to see commitment of this kind. I'm no DEV nor do i possess programming skills which could assist you. But please feel free to count me in as a tester and advanced user, more than willing to get his feet wet .
I will glady donate, as should others who wish to revive this device that surely isnt really outdated
I would love to be a tester and advanced user. I have 2 atrixes, so I can test to any extent on one of them. I would donate one but I need to have my main atrix as a backup to the s2 I am in the process of buying. So my backup backup is there for testing anything and everything needed.
I would have no problem in donating except I don't see anyone claiming that it is at all realistically possible to get the full ICS experience in our phones (meaning hardware acceleration and working camcorder). If that changes, I'd be happy to donate to keep my phone alive, but if it's just going to be another dissapointing waiting game with no outcome...
PS: Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to rain on your parade or be an ungrateful bastard as I do really appreciate the work all of you devs put on this. I'd be happy to give money for a bounty.
i'd personally donate 50 dollars to the cause of keeping our phones alive. probably more as time went on as well, just to keep the project alive.
i would also be willing to test ANYTHING on my Atrix, as i have plans of replacing it soon anyways. the fingerprint scanner doesn't work anymore, and the touchscreen is dying.
I'm JUST NOW getting an Atrix and a Lapdock, a little late I know But count me as an advanced user willing to test anything. I hope to get webtop (In non-blur roms) working above all else, unfortunately since moto isn't willing to comply, that is also the most difficult task.
- Android Advanced users not too scared of trying something new on their phones

Love the intiative :fingers-crossed: I don't have any technical skills to share, but I'm willing to test and assist in any other way that I can.
Maybe we should get this posted on the Photon forums as well to consolidate the project?
Would you be able to develop a 3.x kernel?

One more developer ready here !
So you want to build a real ICS/JB ROM for Atrix?
Including a 3.x kernel, hardware acceleration and maybe working webtop?
If at least the first two things apply I would gladly donate for this one.:good:

If there is something i can do that doesn't take me a very lot of time (because of the for-a-life work)
This is possible but requires more than a couple of devs working close together to make it come true. And ofcourse, it will spend us certain time for fix the problem of Nvidia named Tegra2 by re-developing a brandnew driver for our device.
Once this mission completed, we can completely go further ahead to open up other attractive projects on this worth device
Definitely advanced user and tester. Have strong experience on tech related project management, just not on software development projects. Novice on java, almost intermediate on C, advanced in Pascal (dead language I know), but I think I'm a quick learner.
Have a "real" job, so time is limited but can arrange something. Just tell me where I can help.

I have some experience in Java, C/C++, the Android Framework and I am willing to learn more. But I also think, a project management is necessary to order issues, make possibilities clear, have a big picture, sharing knowledge. So, when you start, drop a message.

Hey,
As most of you know, I am the sole owner of touch innovation. I have done alot to this website (and I still have more to come). THe problem is, over the next half year I have alot of work ahead of me, that affects my future. But I don't particulary want to go into it.
I want someone that can look after and keep the site going for up to 6 months. I know you're thinking "What's the point in this, what do I get out of it?". Well, you get experience.
You'll get a weekly number of emails, submissions etc from people that use the website, you can monitor these, and help out there questions.
You can add programs from here etc.
Why Am I asking this?
I have spent months and months of coding this website (considering the website is only 4 months old, it's a lot of work). And I've hit a niche in the market, people want a website like this, and I am supplying them with one, but I need it to be updated while I am gone. Maybe some marketing (aka advertising) as well, so everything is running peak, and more users are coming.
This is a non-profit organisation, I make no money out of it.
I will pay the guy at the end (maybe), dependant on how much they have done to the website. And I want them to take it upon them self to make any adjustments. The site will potentially be yours for the half year (I will be checking up on it, and If there are some changes that are iffy, I will contact you about it).
It's good experience, and maybe helping me + the community out for a while.
Thanks guys,
-------------------
Okay, another idea, A team of people can request to be part of the team, and keep the site running well and keep it updated for the time I'm gone
Touch Innovation team (to-be's):
nir36
jackkkkk
Kenshino
jdiperla
AkshayGenius
Hannigan174
churka
Thanks for anyone who helps in advance, I will be up for giving a little price tag at the end, dependant on whether they've applied effort to maintain the site
No one?
I think it would be awesome to have this opportunity but I have no experience in html coding. Just the basics.
I thought I had replied to this :/
Erm, you dont need any html coding skills. You just need to know how to keep a website updated (using xda, and others) using my simple but easy and clever admin panel. Also advertise to keep hits up etc.
Napbree, I would gladly take this website, but i'm MEGAbusy with studies and work.
I suggest that instead of granting this website to another "sole" person, you create users in your admin panel and grant them to a few people who will keep it updated. I build websites and I can tell you that there's no way i'd be able to handle even one of those i've built, myself.
If a group of people are willing to help, I will be one of them.
I'll also try creating commercial opportunities for the website - profitwise.
I'd usually say "This is not the place to post these kind of posts.. use the Q&A section".. which comes naturally nowadays..
but considering the importance of this... I think we need this thread bumped up until you manage to get what you wish for.
Yes, that would be great. You've given me an awesome idea. A team of people that can mointor and keep the site up and running well, and content updated etc.
I'll start making a list of people who want to become part of the team
And if you could get a commercial opportunity, that would be amazing. I'd be up for selling it as well (maybe). It's just I want to keep the site of my hands for a while. Because my dad died only a week ago, and i'm entering a state of depression, and I need to get out into the world and keep myself busy.
Thanks
Someone?
I really like this site, and would like to see it continue.
Nathan has done such great job on developing this site, it would be shame, to see it gone waste!
So anyone who has motivation and some time to take this site under ownership, please contact nathan!
Ps. I'm one of admins of this site, and can tell you that it's really easy to update site, because of the nathan's clever admin panel. I would do it myself if i had the time, but my studies and and other projects takes too much time.
All friends of this site, let's get this thread bumped until we get some help for nathan
Firstly.. i'm sorry. Be well.
Secondly, I have some connections.. I can't promise anything but i might be able to get some advertisments going.. we'll see how it goes.
Also, if manage to get some time off .. sometime.. I'll create flash banners and put them up.
COUNT ME IN.
Thank you allevant
And nir36 thanks again, that would be mucho appreciated! very generous
I'm willing to help...
But I'm not sure if I got any use thou as I got no tech experiences or running a website.
My best experience is being a gaming forum moderator and basic computer/pda knowledge.
But, if you think I'm a good canadiate please let me know as I would like to help in anyways.
You don't really need experience in running a site. As long as you can spend some time on the admin panel to add content, it's all good.
I've added you to the to-be team , hope you don't mind.
Thanks! future for the site is looking brighter this is just a bump post
I'll bump your bump

Same domain but totally different things.
So do count me in if you need help running the website.
I am certified in JAVA (Have Sun Certified Java Programmer and Developer certs) and am proficient in both JSP and Applications.
Currently I am writing CMS based websites using PHP, CSS, HTML and Javascript.
I can definitely write some code to add more cool functionality to your website
I'll bumb your bumbing my bumb
Hi Kenshino,
Application consultant heh, nice!
At the moment, I will be able to code up new sections for the site, for example, the new update that will come sooner or later (when I have time to finish it), has live submission, which means users can instantly add applications, as long as it applies with a few of my automated checks.
But if you have any ideas, and you want to code them up, you can definately! But I wouldn't be able to give source code, but you can code it seperately and then I can incoroporate it nicely
Thank you lots for your interest
Nathan
Hey, I volunteer too. I am a PC administrator and had had success in hosting my own sites in the past as well as prior administration duties to games like http://www.swcombine.com
Sounds great
Added you to the list, I will contact you all in the future, once I have a nice big list of contributors
Thanks
let's keep this on top.
POLL ENDS ON MONDAY (APRIL 25TH) AT 12:00 GMT
FIRST THING WE NEED DONE WILL BE TO GET CM/GINGERBREAD BOOTING regardless of the number of functions working
Dear SG3ians,
The time has come for us to take our beloved phone to the next level! Let's port Cyanogenmod (or gingerbread). I believe that if we unite this is a realistic possibility!
It might start off slow, it might take time, and there will definitely be hurdles to cross, but I know we can do this!
Who's with me!!
How was my motivational speech?
Ok, now lets get to more concrete stuff.
I suggest reading this (will update with link when able to. Go to cyangoen forums porting and read the sticky thread) and trying to follow this in our endeavor.
This is how suggest to proceed:
Phase 1:
Deciding what to port, getting a general outline of who will be involved, and planning+suggestions.
Phase 2:
Getting CM (or gingerbread) to boot and seeing what functions and what doesn't function
Phase 3:
Dividing up the non functioning work between devs/dev teams.
Phase 4:
Enjoying our "new" phones
I know this is a simplistic outline, but the sooner we start the sooner we finish.
For this to work it will of course require high interest within the community, it will also require civilized cooperation between members of the team.
Some other stuff (PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING):
Please do not start posting posts like "I want CM too!" "+1 great idea for making the thread" "I'm interested how can I help"
Show your support by voting in the poll, more votes means you support this.
If you are interested in helping, say what knowledge you have and what you think you can do. For the time being I will start out with two main groups. Devs and testers. Testers will divided into alpha (will/can also test beta) and beta testers. Everybody involved (especially devs and alpha testers) have to say that they are aware of the risks (and be aware of the risk, duh ) that are involved in participating in this, and that all responsibility for any damages is all theirs. Devs will probably be furthered divided, but not at the present time. I will include the group potential devs (people who have some potentially useful skills/knowledge) for the time being. If potential devs dont become devs they will automatically be thought of as alpha testers, if you dont agree with this note it in you application post (and state if you want to then be considered as a beta tester or not participating at all if you dont become a dev). So if you wanna help post a post with one of the 4 choices and include the risk part (-only if you agree to it of course)
I have added the advisor group for people who dont have the phone but want to help with their knowledge
Any suggestion or ideas will be helpful, but try to check if somebody already proposed it, and if possible apply and suggest in the same post
I have made a dropbox for this project, if anybody knows/has a better alternative please let me know
User credentials will eventually be shared to select people (most likely only devs).
P.S. After I finish reserving, haree please move this to the dev section (if/when you are online)
P.P.S. If anybody is curious, this is stubborn_d0nkey. Thanks to clarkkov for inspiration
P.P.P.S. Latest CM means latest stable CM, not a nightly
IT IS OKAY TO POST NOW

I'd like to be a potential developer. I have some knowledge of C and basic linux knoweldge. I am fully aware of all the risks, and I accept that I am responsible for all damages to my phone.
P.S. This is how an application post should look like
P.P.S. Basic linux does not mean that you are able to use linux for surfing and stuff, it means basic knowledge of more advanced linux stuff (ex. terminal)
I'd like to be a potential alpha/beta tester. I have some basic linux knoweldge. I am fully aware of all the risks, and I accept that I am responsible for all damages to my phone.
By Basic linux I mean I can use terminal etc. :L I use linux as my OS, Odin works fine in Wine!

(mostly for others)Listing knowledge/skills isn't that important for testers, and you dont really have to say what you mean by basic linux, I (I'm stubborn_d0nkey) just wanted to differentiate between two possible understandings of "basic linux" so people dont say basic linux when they take that as meaning day-to-day usage of linux (surfing, etc) since its not really helpful to the project
I want to help in the project I have some mediun linux knoweldge and C. I am fully aware of all the risks, and I accept that I am responsible for all damages to my phone.

You guys are doing a great job
But I must give some tips that I have
First try to do a sdk port
It just requires to take the boot.img from it and flashing it in FAST BOOT mode which we don't have
So there needs to be done other way
Secondly there are some threads which describe how to port cm to any phone
Take a look at them
Thanks,

Hey lovely community !
so guys after the "fight" in the [DEV] thread about developing CM 10.x ...
The thread got closed ! So whats now ?
Will shaaaaan or any other DEV's going on working on this or not ?
I hope you get the the things in the right way ... :highfive:
LOVE YOU <3
Let's forget about CM for a while. Shaan from the first time is speaking for his Samsung Galaxy S Advance and he's got some problem too. Even if he success build the CM for his device, we need someone to port it into GS 3 Mini, so we're far from fully workng CM. So let's wait oliver and the other who really concern about our device GS 3 Mini.
Hey!
Sincerly from my opinion that "fight" was really child`ish. I didnt make a backgroung check on Mac and i dont care what he did in the past as long as he can make something viable for our phones. We can all be "condemned" for not folowing the GNU licence agrement at some point. Anyway its bad that we lost a DEV because some ppl have pride. Afaik the licence doesnt obligate anyone to share, it give you the right to share.

PS2: This is just my opinion so take it as is.

As a matter of fact he did on his webpage, but he removed it because the thread got closed meaning he's stopped the development.
Yes he had pictures with S3 mini booting CM 10 on his website.
Regarding the GNU-GPL licence...well after taking a closer look and reading carefuly i can say I was wrong and u was right. My appologies.
Anyway we could of given him some time .... maibe he whould of shared it. IDK.
Here is the passage from the GNU-GPL licence to make everything clear to everyone :
"When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for them if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs, and that you know you can do these things.
To protect your rights, we need to prevent others from denying you these rights or asking you to surrender the rights. Therefore, you have certain responsibilities if you distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it: responsibilities to respect the freedom of others.
For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether gratis or for a fee, you must pass on to the recipients the same freedoms that you received. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights."
Best regards.

Well. He isn't new to xda. He should have followed the rules.
As i already said in the thread, i had no problems if he shared the source when he released the rom. But then, there was no use ot the thread!
If he didn't want to share the source before releasing the rom, he shouldn't have had made that thread in the first place. If he did create the thread, it means he was seeking attention.
Also, did he or did he not ask for donation, before even releasing a single build?
I have seen his ways. That's why i resented.
Also, if he is a real dev, such petty things shouldn't stop him from contributing to the community!

As i can see Oliver did a great work so i will start from that sources and every change i will publish on his repository. anyway....can you start doing some modifies with your work? The point is this: maclaw after a first compilation had various things working SO he must did something really simple.....such as changing something in BoardConfig.mk. After searching some i founded that we are missing something in this file for RIL problems that can work for our devices (start from there it is the main problem for now). add these in your boardconfig and see if work ( i am at work now and i can't test )

hi shaaan....i saw that you are from galaxy s advance (same hardware of galaxy s3 mini).....in this evening i will re-start develop from cm10 and stop kernel develop.....(hope that i don't must work)...tomorrow i have 4 days free and i will spend to develop cm10.
# RIL
BOARD_MOBILEDATA_INTERFACE_NAME := "pdp0"
#SPECIFIED SECRIL(need this to work??/)
BOARD_USES_LIBSECRIL_STUB := true

We have already fixed RIL in cm10.
Yes. The boardconfig values are needed for RIL to work.
./rant
If you are reading this text, it means that i am too busy currently and won't be tendering any support questions via PM

I am not saying that he did not use sources from oliver. But where is the proof that he did use them?
You cant be sure.

Hello.... I'm starting this thread to set up a bounty for a working device tree.. For the sprint note 4..I am lacking in time to create one myself but have all the experience and ability to use it... So figured I'd offer a bounty to anyone willing to create us a working device tree to use to build Roms from source.... What I'm wanting is a tree that I can build cm and aosp based Roms from.... I'm not asking for Roms I'm asking for a tree that works that I can use to build the Roms myself as well as others.....
If interested in chipping in please list the amount and I'll add your name to the list..... Please Only people who are actually going to donate when/if the time comes ..
Thanks
Bounty:
spleef : $75
Herk718 : $20
Total: $95
@Herk718 $20
I understand the intention here, but I've always found that bounties immediately move work into closed repos, discourages collaboration, and raises questions about who gets the $ if for example, someone gets it 99% there but someone else jumps in for the last step. Will the bounty be split among all collaborators? Will you award the authors of any device repo you fork from? (It's turtles all the way down)
If you want development in the open and people helping each other to get your goal, consider not having a bounty as it's almost never the primary motivator for this kind of work... And often works against what you want. I can tell you personally... My experience with the nook tablet and bounties from a company that wanted to sell the port was pathetic. People were constantly hitting me up on irc and in PM for help, and stealing each others work, and making tiny changes to claim the bounty. Go back and read the forums for acclaim...
Or, look up what happened with the HP Touchpad, which is even more egregious... That fiasco made it to the blogosphere... But the code was flat out stolen and the irc logs pretty jaw dropping.
This is a MUCH smaller project, but still...

@fattire
I do understand where you are coming from...these bounties most always end badly where someone does exactly as you described but let me try to ease some of your doubts....
What I'm looking for is for a person or team to step forward... Then after a discussion with them I'll add their name to the op as being the person doing the task.... Now no matter who else jumps in or steals code the money will only go to the person or team that I've talked with and is listed in the op..... So far as money split.... I would... during our discussion prior to having someone accept the task... And listing them as accepting the project talk this over and have it all mapped out as who gets what. What I'm expecting... What they're expecting.. The whole nines... Now these type of situations have a tendency of folks saying I'll donate then don't... If that were to be the case I'll donate the full amount myself... To address the closed repo.... I have a github account and have had one for years as well as being an XDA member for ages.... With a very good reputation.... My account on github is open and always will be... The idea here is to have a source for the public not just me...I have no intention on making anything private or closed source...... My only intentions are too get a device tree that we can use to build cm and aosp based roms from source... The idea of the bounty is solely to draw attention and offer a incentive to someone who is interested, willing, and able to provide us with the tree... I hope I've cleared up at least a little of your worries/doubts....And to be perfectly honest ...I hope that you and slayher accept the task... If you need to further discuss anything please feel free to contact me...I have several ways of doing so listed in my profile but I'll go ahead and list my hangouts info... [email protected]

Heh I came to post that Slayher started a repo but there ya go.. guess he posted it already No worries on the bounty thing-- I've just seen it go bad before... it was a cluster****. That was a 3-month project tho.. this shouldn't be anything like that.
