Cannot sim unlock after ICS 4.04 update - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Hi guys,
it has been weeks now that i am trying to sim unlock my tab with ics 4.04. I was able to do it with hc 3.2 using the sim unlock for sgs3 in the play store. But somehow the new security in 4.04 is preventing me to do so. It keeps restoring the old nvdat from the backup. It does show in nv.log that checksum failed and nv backup restored. I can delete all nv files and unlock my tab with a generic imei. Please help me with this, im kind of planning to go back to hc3.2 because of this, but ics is so much better.

Get your new nv and re edit it

GalaxSim Unlock should work on international (non 4g) devices, so that your device won't re lock upon reboot

[Q] Official Tmobile JIC6 Update loses unlock

Ok.. sooo.. Some people have gotten the JIC ota update from tmobile USA.. Well i decided to go ahead and update it. Well I lost the carrier unlock on it now.
I was just the stock rom on it rooted and unlocked using the one click unlock to get teh codes to unlock the phone. It worked then. Now with the JIC6 update i have lost that unlock. Also the one click unlock app to get the codes no longer works. I have also seen other post about using a hex editor to look at the nv_data.bin file to look for the unlock codes (no success). I have the original code from before the update, but it does not work. Is there a Way to unlock the vibrant with the JI6 update?
Just enter the same code you got last time. and it will unlock you.
If anyone else reads this. Please keep your code. and put it someplace safe. everytime you flash you will need to re-unlock most like a iphone.
Interseting that i didnt even have to reenter it. First when i updated and than checked teh network lock code showing that it was on so i than proceded to use the one click unlock app and it didnt not work. SO lucky for me i have a screenshot of the code when i first used the unlock app. so i did the same process and put in another carrier sim and entered the unlock code. It told me it was unsuccessful. Now that i went to try it again after my first post. I procceded to put in the other carrier sim card and it was unlocked.
Oh well. Thanks!

He says in the OP that he has the original code, but it doesn't work.
I know this is actually a known Samsung problem that has happened on many of their phones (even ones that came unlocked from what I've read) & generally re-entering the key works.
If it doesn't work for me, I'll call up TMO & complain. I bought the phone at retail price off contract, so they should give the code w/o a problem.
Generally as long as you've been a customer with them for at least 30-90 days (and your phone is beyond the returnable period), they'll give the unlock code if you call & ask for it. Sometimes you have to say that you'll be travelling out of country in order to get them to give it to you.
Is there a way to unlock without putting in a foreign SIM?
WTF !
Do you mean that updating the device to JI6 will lock the phone ?!
I unlocked mine with a code is that means I'll lose the unlock ?!
I discovered this a few weeks ago. I was working on a fix when I bricked my phone.
I just got my replacement on Tuesday and will be continuing the fix.
What happens is either something within the ODIN process, or on the rom itself puts a generic bml3 block on that contains all F's where the unlock code is stored.
I also know that it's stored on the nv_data.bin in the ./efs block.
I have been able to get my unlock code to be seen by the sgux program when modifying the bml3 file and pushing it back to my phone.
I will be working on nv_data next, though, seeing as my new phone has the unlock codes already, I'll have to do some editing and backing up.
I have my old codes with me so can someone confirm if old codes still works after the update ?
Thanks for sharing the information with us regarding phone. It may help us n the future.

Yeah after my original posts i think your old code will work. It will probably give an error of that it was unsuccessful. Just ignore it. and and just reboot the phone.
so basically to recap what i did.
updated JIC6 ota with tmobile.
checked network lock *#7465625# ( showing that the network lock was on.)
tried that software one click app to get code. (unsuccessful)
powered off phone
put in another carrier sim card.
bootup phone.
put in old code i had from before update to jic6 ( says that it was unsuccessful )
power off phone
put back Tmobile sim
power off phone
put other carrier sim in
unlocked!
i dont have tmobile sim ...do you think it needs that ?
I ran into this on my old vibrant running jfd. Unlocked and rooted and I needed to reflash jfd with odin. Phone relocked itself even reflashing same firmware. Efs data didn't change because the unlock code could still be retrieved. But when I inserted my att sim the code unlock said unsuccessful no matter what I tried. It never unlocked again.

So old codes didnt work for you and you are stuck.
can anyone confirm if we should update or not to remain unlocked ?
anyone confirming this ?
I got two different statements here
Ok, I updated my vibrant to JI6 today and it didn't lock my device !!
Since I don't use T-mobile data plan so I downloaded the leaked rom from (Vibrant Android development) section then I flashed the stock rom followed by JI6 ROM and it's working perfect !!
Maybe because mine is unlocked officially by T-Mobile code !
Or may be only ota is locking
We need more info

thanks...i just updated with odin and mine is unlocked
Now time to check whats new :d
They will not release a code nor will att for 9 months after the phone is out. You may call and ask.
Thats why i offer unlock services for these phones.
Successful OTA update yesterday, NO NETWORK LOCK, phone was rooted with no lag fix

URGENT Help! Emergency Calls Only

i'm sorry for the long post, i really appreciate your help
i really need help to get this galaxy s3 GT-I9300 to regonize my sim card.
i bought it from ebay i've used it for a long time works fine,
but because it's an unlocked version and from ebay i'm not sure what region it is
i messed with rooting and stuff and decided to do "restore to stock".
i thought it'd be easy like the nexus or iphone, i followed this guide. it restored the system apps/firmware fine but still keeps all existing data instead of deleting them like it said.
and then when it boots it shows "LaFleur" which i never saw before
and now it's "emergency calls only" does not recognize sim (100% not the physcial sim card problem)
i tried this but did not work.
i also went to settings -> mobile networks-> search results were AT&T (correct carrier i'm using) but it says "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
i know i made something wrong with the software not hardware but i can't understand why official tool (Samsung Kies) broke my device.
Please help because i receive a lot of calls so i need to get this working again ASAP. Thanks a lot
I'm sorry i just realized that i posted in the wrong forum, it should be in Q&A
By using kies you've restored what ever firmware the phone was manufactured with, it doesn't sound like an unlocked handset.
Instead follow the guide in general forum, stickies, to flash your own countries generic rom, then factory reset.
Your network issue is likely to be a result of the handset not being properly unlocked. None of the free patches to unlock work with newer firmwares -by updating you've reinstated the network lock. If you made a backup of the efs folder before you started then you might be able to restore and go back to a firmware that can be patched.
Otherwise you've have to buy an unlock code.

I also have the feelings that this phone was not properly unlocked. So the eBay guy sold me not a factory unlocked version but a version he unlocked on his own?
Forgot to mention my IMEI is now 0049... My baseband now has "BELL" in it (Canada carrier?) Also it does show the phone number in About-Status. But network state is out of service.
I don't understand how an official program changed my IMEI to a generic one and I have no EFS backup.
Mod Edit
Please refer to the stickies in General before posting.

[Q] restoring one phone's backup to another (same models)

i have question that might be little od.
my motorola defy was soft unlock, i installed a custom rom in it and now it is again asking for SIM network unlock pin.. and i can't software unlock it because i am not that good in it.
i found a person who is having exactly same t-mobile motorola defy and it's also software unlock running in stock 2.2 froyo.
if i take a backup of that phone, and restore it in my motorola defy.. will it be unlock again ??

[Q] L3 E400f ”This phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked”

Hi folks
This problem I have with this Australian L3 E400f is after I dial up 2945#*400# the unlock menu pops up as normal
selecting "network lock"
results in message "This phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked"
at no stage do I get a chance to input any unlock codes.
I gather there have been more than 10 failed attempts to input a NCK code, thou I am sure this is not the case it was straight out the box new.
the phone works just fine and dandy with all firmwares I have flashed as long as I have the telstra sim card in place.
I have used a Brazilian (V10D_00) stock firmware (using KDZ) hoping that the failed count lives in the firmware, it does not.
I have used CWM and flashed cynogen , this did nothing only the stock firmware allows 2945#*400#
gone back to my aussie V10D_00 telstra firmware and factory reset, then hardware reset..
I dont beleive this is a ROM issue. I am only guessing this is a EFS problem, anybody have any idea's if ADB or LGNSPT can get me out of this jam..
LGNSPT seems like a nightmare to get up and running and I have never used it before. I have once before on a samsung phone deleted the EFS folder (after backing up) and the phone generated a new EFS folder, I had my way with it then retsored the original EFS folder.
is their other methods of inputing the NCK code with ADB or else ?
thanks in advance this one has got me stumped...
all the best

unlock help?

Hi,
I have a Defy MB525 on T-Mobile running CM 7.2. The phone is getting old and has some hardware problems, so I bought a more gently used one on eBay. I've rooted the new one and successfully installed Bootmenu, 2ndInit, and CM 7.2, but when put my SIM card in it, it wants an unlock code. I tried the soft unlock method discussed here, but no success. I then tried the troubleshooting recommendation involving airplane mode and terminal emulator, but that didn't work either. I then got the idea to backup my "old" phone and restore it to the "new" one, and that went smoothly, *BUT* while I no longer get prompted for a SIM unlock code, there is an "x" next to the service bars and the phone indicates "no service." Both old and new phones have EPU93_U_00.59.01 baseband, old phone does get service, while new one does not. I'd love to hear any advice people may have. Oh, new phone was on Moviestar service . . . sorry for the stupid question, but when I've been prompted for a SIM unlock code is it Movistar's unlock code that I'm being prompted for or is it T-Mobile's? I assume that SIM unlock code is associated with the phone and not the particular SIM card itself--is that right?
Thanks,
Doug
I guess what you need to do is install Baseband switcher 4.1 or 4.0 and configure it so it grabs the correct baseband
