"Original thread"
Hello everyone,
Well, back again with the problem that can't find any solution anywhere.
I've opened a thread about fake imei on this site earlier which can find a solution already. Now the imei and the S/N become original one but the phone still can't make any call. I found the thread about a patch that can fix this issue but it works with NOTE2 and S3 only... so, I'm afraid to try that with my S4 GT-I9500 since it's very hard to find a fix for its problem... I don't want another problem for my phone now...
So, the status of the phone is unlock, root, on latest stock firmware(I9500XXUBMG1), Baseband is I9500DXUBMF8,
Software status on phone: Network=Unknown, Mobile Network Type=Edge:2, Service State=Out of service...
When I check with AndroidDump the Telephony said:
IMEI=(my original IMEI)
CallState=IDLE
DataActivity=NONE
DataState=DISCONNECTED
NetworkType=EDGE
PhoneType=GSM
SimState=READY
CellLocation=[16427,50572,-1]
DeviceSoftwareVersion=01
Line1Number= (it's blank)
NetworkCountryIso=th
NetworkOperator=52018
NetworkOperatorName= (it's blank...again)
SimCountryIso=th
SimOperator=52018
SimSerialNumber= (my sim serial number)
SubscriberId=52018961057xxxx (this is my IMSI)
VoiceMailAlphaTag=VOICEMAIL
VoiceMailNumber=1802 (this is the voice mail number of my sim operator)
Now, let's go back a bit for earlier problem of my phone...
It's been stuck on Samsung logo(bootloop) because of EFS folder corrupted(Error mount efs)
Solution: I forced the efs to mount by enter the command in Terminal Emulator on Recovery mode, then the phone reboot normally with wifi connect but fake Imei(004999xxxxxxx) and S/N 00000000000. So, I can't make any call since then but can connect wifi.
After that with the fake Imei and S/N all zero I've finally found a mobile repair shop that can write the original Imei and S/N for me with the SPT Box. So, my phone has the original Imei and S/N now but when I try to make call it said "Not registered on network"
If I choose the network manually(My operator is DTAC) it will be Network(DTAC)unavailable... If set to choose automatically, it looks fine but when I attempt to call it said "Not registered on network" again...
The phone still can connect to WiFi, as usual... but can't make call...like before fix the Imei and S/N
Contacted the operator of my sim already and they said it seems to be the problem of the phone so, I have to contact Samsung... but my phone has no service with Samsung coz it's the phone from another country and it's been root already...
I've tried every way I can(found on this site and other site...) None work...
So... anyone has any idea why my phone can't make any call???... and HOW EXACTLY TO FIX IT???
Thank you again for you time and help...

This is why you should always back up your EFS folder. If your IMEI ever gets lost you can restore using the EFS backup folder very easily.

You were ABSOLUTELY right. I had done NOTHING wrong, my IMEI had been blacklisted by a weird mistake of a mobile company.
I'll explain my jourey, in the hopes that it can help somebody, since, I HAVE A SOLUTION for every single case of this issue.
1) When I got my gt-i9500, of course I rooted it, then i proceeed to flash PAC-ROM on it, but I had to go back to Stock (Arrow Modified Version) since PAC-ROM is FULL of glitches ans bugs.
2) After a week of being using ARROW, i got the "NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK" problem. Not instantly, no, AFTER A WEEK OF USING AS MY DEFAULT ROM. I got really scared, since I DIDN'T MAKE A BACKUP OF MY EFS FOLDER, and when I review my IMEI, it wasn't even the 00049... generic one, it was null/null. So i shat my pants, thinking I had ruined my S4 for good. But I started reading. First i had to get my IMEI back to its original form, and then work around the network issue (THAT'S THE ORDER, ACTUALLY)
3) So I downloaded a whole bunch of modems and tried one after one, with no success, some of them put the generic IMEI on my phone, some of them got my IMEI back to null/null. I was worried and drinking industrial quantities of wine at this point. So i went for the obvious but way more boring solution. I TRIED FLASHING STOCK ROMS on my S4. I live in Perú, so I only have 2 choices to do this, and actually my carrier stock rom is not even listed on SamMobile.com (I'm on Nextel Peruvian 3G network). The 2 choices i tried, neither got my signal or my IMEI BACK. I started going desperate, but keept on reading.
4) Tried the MTK Droid Tools to recover my IMEI. I had never even used The ADB android interface before, but learned rather quickly. Got my S4 connected, shell rooted, and still couldn't change my IMEI; since MTK Droid Tools (and please trust me on this one) ONLY WORKS FOR THE CHINESSE/KOREAN VERSIONS OF THE S4. So don't even bother, you might learn ALOT about the android ADB interface, but won't fix your IMEI.
5) Finally I started downloading a bunch of Stock roms in order to get my IMEI fixed automaticaly by flashing them through ODIN. And the I stumble upon THIS ROM: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17396 WHICH SEEMED like a divine answer from heaven since, just by flashing it, got me back my ORIGINAL IMEI.
6) At this point i had discovered that INDEED the MODEM: I9500UBUBMG9 does get your IMEI back to its original state. (That's your answer). SO, I was in a Stock rom, with my original IMEI, bu had NO FREAKING SIGNAL WHAT SO EVER. STILL HAD THE "Not registered on network" FREAKING problem. So I, finally, gave up, came here, and got the answer that It might had to do with my IMEI being blacklisted. I refused to believe so, since there are this stories on the internet, that you can actually screw your EFS folder by installing a custom AOKP rom without backing it up, and that there's this "RF CAL" file that only samsung knows how to fix and once it's corrupted, you won't be able to connect to any network, ever. BUT HERE'S THE THING, THAT story IS A LIE.
7) I went to NEXTEL (My carrrier) support (They sold me the phone) today, and YES, OMG YES, my IMEI had been blacklisted, AND HERE'S THE CATCH: ANYONE (At least that can happen in my country) ANYONE, can call your mobile operator, reporting your phone has been stolen, and the op will block NOT ONLY YOUR NUMBER, but your freakining IMEI, blacklisting it, and making it IMPOSIBLE for you to get connected on ANY network.
SO Here is my conclussion to this WEIRD case:
1) If you have the NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK and you have the WRONG IMEI issue (Meaning, your IMEI is the generic: 00049... or Null/Null) , flash via ODIN, THIS STOCK ROM: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17396, just... flash it, I DON'T CARE IF YOU'VE READ THAT YOU JUST NEED THE MODEM, I garantee that if you flash this stock rom, your IMEI will go back to its original state.
2) If your S4 is on an Stock Rom, and you have your original IMEI; and you still can't connect to your network, It means your original imei has been blacklisted, and you NEED to talk to sammy or your carrier to fix this, or contact someone who can undo this situation.
That's it. I hope that my journey helps someone that is trying to get this "NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK" issue solved, as I've been trying to for the entire weekend. Just... don't give up. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/good.gif

it's so amazing that the mobile company staff have so much power, isn't it? I thought the report process should be a bit more formal, with a note from the policeman or something. Otherwise it's so easy to get fxxked up for doing nothing...

I have read through this forum for hours and in no way savvy with this stuff; I have learnt a lot so thank you but please help me.
I just don't know how to tell what the problem is with my phone therefore i don't know which of the 100s of solutions here to apply.
its a S4 i337 previously used on AT&T LTE network, I traveled overseas and used other country's sim card for a short time after giving it to service provider to program. i believe phone was rooted and settings changed for this to happen, though i did not do them or know what they did.
I returned to U.S. and reinserted AT&T sim, made one call, but phone seems to trigger anti theft or network suspend right after. I have had it unlocked twice by AT&T but first use thereafter seems to reblock me out of their network and i get message that this device is blocked from network use. When I call they say phone shows stolen and i repeat process above only to get reblocked again.
I don't know if it is APN settings, previous rooting or what that is causing this? I found an app called SuperSU on the phone, i clicked on its settings and clicked "full unroot" which made app icon disappear but can't tell if I am really unrooted or not. I have also done factory reset and lost everything already, I just want phone to work back on AT&T network as before.
Android version 4.2.2
baseband I337UCUAMF3
please help me… i am not sure if i need to reroot, delete binary counter, flash with files???? i have read some about odin files, don't know what is the latest and which sources are safe…just confused all around.
please someone tell me where to start

Take it to a best buy Samsung service counter and have them reflash the firmware or update it to MK2. Wipe everything (including internal and external SD card) Then, call att to unblock it again. If it relocks, then go back to the Samsung service counter, tell them the issue and see if they can restore your efs for you from a backup. If they can, do it and then unblock it.
If after all this it relocks, its not your device. Its att who are at fault. Then all you can do is to yell at them.
EDIT:
Another possibility is that the ppl who unlocked your phone overseas stole your imei number and used it to revive a blocked stolen phone. In that case your imei is in an international stolen imei database and you are probably out of luck.

Interesting. If the IMEI was stolen, what would the phone show? Would they clone the IMEI (so it would show the same IMEI) or would it come up as UNKNOWN or blank or something. Reason I am asking is that I've been try to fix an issue with my father-in-law's phone that completely lost the ability to connect to wifi/data after having his S4 "unlocked" in Vietnam to use a local SIM there. Tried may reflashes with MK2 and custom TW ROM's but none work with wifi anymore (data works ok).
If data and calling works then the imei is fine. Its some other issue..

All is speculation but there is a small posibility that when you gave your phone that person gave you another phone which indeed was stolen. Your best bet is to go to the samsung guys right now or learning how to restock your phone. You tube search videos How To Unroot & Unbrick Samsung Galaxy S4
so its been a few days now with no service. it turns out my phone has somehow been programmed with a different imei that comes up as stolen according to at&t. so the theory of my imei having been stolen is pretty possible. every time i have the phone unblocked from the network, one phone call or message causes it to trigger the stolen phone alert and kick me out the at&t network. i have been to the at&t store with my device and the original packaging that shows my original and correct imei but the one that the phone is registering on screen does not match what is on my actual handset sticker and original packaging. the phone never left my sight the entire trip so i am 100% positive my handset was never switched, if anything it was reprogrammed with the stolen imei and they stole mine which is now working fine out there for some crook
i just can't believe that at&t can't verify my original imei that came with the phone i bought from them and just reprogram my phone and get my service going again. its looking like i will need to find a way to recover my imei myself. although i just got the 4.4.2 update that force placed itself on my zero service phone. hope this post helps to alert others to be careful of this type of thing.
Wow! what country did u visit?
If your s4 had insurance I would report the phone as stolen and give the original Imei to be blacklisted and try to get a new phone.

I did it yesterday and good the news you can update your phone to 4.4.2
Hey,
I flashed my device some time ago and I broke the glass. I sent to a repair shop and since then I'm stuck on roaming and I can't register to my network (Videotron).
When I use auto connect, it uses Videotron PRTNR which is videotron's partner network (rogers).
I want to install the stock firmware but I've tried to install about 7 of them from sammobile or samsung-updates, all of them show BMC (BELL) or EUR at the end of the firmware version in kies.
Kies refuses to let me install the stock firmware from the firmware upgrade and initialization it says "This version of the device cannot be updated."
I want to be absolutely sure it's not my firmware that's causing the problem before accusing the repair shop....
Does anybody have any idea?

The way you worded your post is confusing. Did the glass shop break your phone or did your flashing cause the issue? We need to know exactly what you did and a lot more information about your phone configuration if you want good advice. You didn't even tell us which S5 variant you have, the specific firmware versions you refer to or give us a verbatim log of what Odin said when you tried to install (an unspecified) firmware version. All of which are critical details.
Some obvious first steps, try your SIM in another unlocked phone to confirm that the SIM and your account are working properly. Also try a friend's SIM in your phone and see what the result is. Check your phone settings for inadvertent changes of course. And list what your phone settings are for us! Clear your system cache from recovery mode.
If you still have problems, try writing a stock firmware with Odin, followed by a factory data reset. Then give us a detailed, step by step description of what you tried and the results for a start.

My apologies for the lack of information
I have the SM-G900W8 model, using Videotron as my network provider. I believe the roaming issue did not exist before the repair, but they won't believe me since I have a custom rom installed.
While my phone was being repair I've used a galaxy S3 and it started roaming... I thought it was normal since the phone is from Bell (Unlocked) and maybe the network aren't compatible.
I tried what you suggested and inserted my Sim card into my girlfriend's Videotron Galaxy S3 and it still says roaming. I guess the problem must be with the sim card or videotron's network?
And about the roms I tried on my S5 :
=> with Phoenix rom v2, the problem is there.
=> With a couple of original SM-G900W8 stock rom (found on sammobile website) flashed with odin , the problem is still there.
I did try to clear the cache etc...
I forgot, the latest rom I flashed is named G900W8VLU1ANF4_G900W8OYA1ANF4_G900W8VLU1ANF4_HOME.tar.md5.
Please let me know if I forgot something :fingers-crossed:

Critical point that. If I understand your reply, the problem remains when you try your SIM in your girlfriend's phone. That shows the problem to be independent of your phone i.e. it is a problem with your SIM or more likely, account. Especially if your girlfriend doesn't have this issue with her own SIM.
Talk to your carrier's support department and if they can't resolve it immediately, open a ticket for them to look into it further. Based on what you described it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the glass repair people. It's just an account problem that happened to occur while your glass was being repaired.
Let us know what support says or if anything changes. If you're ambitious, post your network settings here for review, just in case they impact on the issue in some way. Still it seems to be an account issue.

I contacted the technical support team and they are working on it.
Thanks for the help, I'll post if they fix it or if I find the solution myself.

I am also with Videotron.
Try to use the Search for Network, not the auto connect and see if Videotron is available from that menu.
If it is not, be sure that there is a Videotron cell tower near you otherwise it will default to Videotron PRTNR which is the normal behavior if the Videotron signal is out of reach.

The firmware that I found on sammobile and that I flashed on my S5 is G900W8VLU1ANF4_G900W8OYA1ANF4_VTR.zip (note the VTR at the end which is the Videotron variant).
Hello guys. I am not quite new here, but I never registered (or I did but I couldn't find with which email or username).
However, I am having some trouble with Samsung S7 phone.
First of all, the IMEI on the About page is not the same as the IMEI on the back of the phone.
When I enter the IMEI from the back of the phone in IMEI checker, I get the right phone (Samsung S7).
When I enter the IMEI from the About page in IMEI checker, I get some old BLU phone.
Second problem is that I think this phone is not duos, however, whichever firmware I try to flash, I see the SIM card manager in the Settings. Which is weird to me.
Third problem is that the phone won't connect to network. I've tried 3 SIM cards (all 3 of those works on other phones), but this one just won't connect.
It shows full strength of signal, it also shows the phone number of the SIM, however, when I try to make a call, it says "Not registered on network".
The phone should not be locked as my brother said that he used it for some time, then he updated it to the latest OS and then did a factory reset. After that, the phone just stopped working.
Does anyone know what could be the issue? Why the IMEIs are different?
I am quite sure that the phone model is SM-G930F, however, the model number in Settings shows SM-G930FD. Which is again weird to me.
I've looked on the Google to see a picture of the SIM card slot of Samsung S7 duos and mine SIM card slot does not like that. Also, on one slot, it says only "microSD" and on another "SIM". So, I guess it is not a duos phone.
Any advices?
Thank you in advance!
All the best,
Dale
It sounds like somebody has changed the IMEI of the phone and patched the certificate for the IMEI to work.
Once you reset the phone or update the firmware on it, it will remove the patched certificate allowing the changed IMEI.
You will need to look for someone that does IMEI repair / change to get it working for you again I know there is a guy on the forums here that does them for free. Look through the s7 edge sub forums for them.

Well, I already flashed the firmware multiple times with different basebands and versions of the firmware as I thought that the firmware is wrong. Also tried to flash the firmware with Phone EFS Clear option checked in Odin.
Everything else on the phone works.
Sorry that this isnt help but you not alone, I unbricked a Samsung S7 (SM-G930F) after it suddenly just bricked (hard brick/soft brick - same thing). Eventually when I installed nougat on it, and finally wanted to use the phone, i tried a simcard and noticed how it would load all saved contacts but whatever I dailed, it responded "Not registered to network". Checking the model number it is now SM-G930FD but i am unable to verify the imei becuase of missing box. I tried many firmwares (even those that specify its for SM-G930F) but the model number remains SM-G930FD.
could any help plz be posted...
