So, i can get HD2 very cheap. But it bricked. Enters bootloader, OS wont boot. Seller also says that PC see the phone, and can read from sd card.
Is it worth buying, and can i unbrick it?
Thanks for help.

which bootloader do you mean? because the PC cannot read the sd card from the real, coloured stripey screen bootloader, , i'd be wary of trusting that statement.
Thanks for answers guys.

Im a total noob at HD2.:silly: Will try to understand something
Its a regular HD2 with hspl 2.08.hspl. the model Id looks fine.
If it were mine, and I was struggling to return to stock, I'd probably use hspl2 (not hspl4,I don't trust it, no specific reason, just a feeling)
Take hspl2, set 1.66.hspl, then try flashing a stock 1.66 winmo rom via USB.

Like Samsamuel said, the bootloader looks fine. I also agree with him about flashing HSPL2 and then flash a 1.66 WinMo ROM via USB. It is important you only do it via USB though because if you flash it via SD card it will overwrite the HSPL and then bootloader is stored in a separate storage chip on the PCB board so even if the bootloader is fine and the flash storage can still be flashed it may have bad sectors or have become unreadable. If this is the case it will cause the device not to boot. Also it may be suffering from the dreaded separation of the CPU from the PCB board which will also cause it not to boot, maybe boot but soon shut off, or not even power on at all.
Now for the bright side of the story. If you buy the device and nothing you try will allow it to boot, you can find a HD2 that has a cracked screen our non working digitize. and then swap out the PCB board from it to the HD2 and have a working device. But I do suggest you let a professional do the swapping of the PCB.
Thanks again for answers. But i noticed one detail.. 1 day ago, there was another hd2 on sale. For the same price, in the same city, and i think in the same complectation (box etc.) but there was non working touch screen.
So, im 80% sure that is the same phone, and i won't buy it. BTW, thanks for help..

You may try and follow this solution, I suggested earlier. Click here
Let us know if it worked.
sorry i was vague, i was in a rush to get to work this morning and on top of it i was panicking. i flashed the stock image:
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
i tried that on a hd2 so i could flash hspl3 again and use wp7 on my hd2.
i ended up just sending it in, but if they send it back with no repairs ill try your method... i relly hope they just send me a new one though. i mean... i flashed a stock image to the hd2, so shouldnt they see no hspl and just the stock spl?
again, more details are needed.
like what type of hd2 do you have? if it is a us tmo brand, i believe it is bricked (as you flashed a .51 radio.)
if you flashed your stock rom from your sd card, hspl is removed. if you flashed over usb, and did not uninstall hspl, hspl is still there.
what i don't get is if you can flash a rom, why are you saying it is bricked? no offense, but each post seems to change the story (first it was a rom, the a radio, now you are flashing roms but sending the phone in, still don't know if you can get into booloader, but now you sent the phone in or is it in your possession???) and i am not following what you did, where you started or what is going on. maybe i am totally missing what you are saying (which is possible)...hope someone can help you.
i have the 1024 us tmous hd2. i tried to flash to a stock rom, forget i said radio. i tried to flash the .51 which i did not know would brick my phone, so i played dumb with htc and sent it in to get repaired. if they dont repair it i am kinda SOL because i flashed using usb and they will see it has HSPL. sorry, do i need to include anything else? i am just kinda a noob... sorry.
i swear i posted a response. hmm.
thank you for the details. your assessment of the situation is spot on; unfortunately your phone is indeed bricked. and likely htc will not know about hspl...or so i have heard from others.
curious, why did you send it to htc? did tmobile reject it? if not, and htc doesn't give you a new one, try getting it to tmobile (under warranty)- worked for me when the phone stopped working for unknown reason. good luck.
possible to make it back to work...?

No if you can still get the bootloader to come up you have not bricked your HD2.
How did you flash the ROM via your computer and USB cable or via your SD card? Will your HD2 just not boot all the way into Windows Mobile? I need as much info as you can give.
i think you just bricked it. Like lawl, i'm sorry but I have no sympathy for this, you flashed your HD2 with the wrong rom. xD You shoulda read and researched before jumping into the fire. xD
Well if you can still get into the multi colored screen, then flash the right rom for it, which would be a t-mobile rom, since you said there is a t-mobile logo at the top.
Well as stated above also, if you can get into the tri color screen, you haven't bricked your device.

Well i connected my device via usb and ran the .exe file. It completed 100% but it remains stuck at the htc boot logo. Took out the battery and restarted it but it just remains stuck at the htc screen.
The reason i wanted to do this was because i installed magldr and i got to that black screen with like 10 or 11 options and tried flashing a rom but it wouldnt work so i wanted to start all over.

Yes go to T-Mobile.com and in the search bar there type in HTC HD2 update you will find it. The T-Mobile site will ask you to enter your IMEI number, this can be found by removing the battery cover and battery. The IMEI will be an a sticker behind the battery. Enter it and you will be abale to download the official T-Mobile update it will have ROM 3.14.531.1 and radio 2.15.50.14..
With a TMOUS HD2 you have to make zure the ROM is compatible with a TMOUS HD2. Even more important youmust make sure the radio that will be flashed is TMOUS compatible, are you will brick your TMOUS HD2. To see a list of TMOUS radios go to here .
Edit: Do not use one of the ROMs from the above link. Sorry I know the above poster was trying to help but you have a T-Mobile HD2 so you really need to get the official ROM from T-Mobile. The link he give is to the HTC site and if you download the wrong ROM by accident andflash it you will brick your HD2.
Oh yeah oops. Sorry, my bad, didn't even read the thing.
Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.

It is all cool Skellyyy, I know you were trying to help. The thing is us TMOUS owners have to be very carful when it comes to flashing. We have to read very carefully what we are flashing. minumal if we flash the wrong ROM but it has the right radio, like what appears to have happen to LoveisPeace 2012, our HD2 will just not boot up into Win Mo but still go into bootloader. If we flash the wring radio or HD2 is bricked, dead, done, nomore.

Works both ways man, if you's flash the wrong radio, your phones bricked. But... you's have more internal memory not needing to partition your SD card.

You are very correct Skellyyy the wrong radio to any HTC HD2 will brick the phone no matter what model it is. But the TMOUS model is a lot more suseptable to this as it can only use TMOUS compatible radios. Most other models such as the European model and etc. can use most radios, and I said most not all, that or out there. This is why so many new TMOUS HD2 owners brick there phone cause you really have to read and study to find this info about the radio.

the regular hd2 can use them all. Worst that happens on a regular hd2 is you put a 51 radio on a 576meg enabled rom, and teh phone hangs at boot screen till you change the radio, and thats a rom issue, not the phone thats incompatible.

Oh yeah LoveisPeace 2012 what's up with your HD2???
hehe, it matters less and less nowadays, since most set ups require ..50.. radios anyway, so we all use tmous radios.
this has probably been asked 100 times, but I can't seem to find a solution from searching.... I purchased a hd2 off craigslist, they said had a bad battery... my first mistake... so I get it home and hook it up to a charger and boot it, it hangs on splash screen... so I try to just go ahead and flash a 2.**.50.** radio to goo ahead and install MAGLDR, it hangs at 96%, for like 30 minutes, so I pull the battery, reboot and get a black screen, so I try to flash a shipped rom via SD, again hangs at radio.... try task29, stuck at 99%.... any solutions? or am I bricked?

Battery out, sim and SD out, but a radio leoimg.nbh prepared on SD card.
Phone into sealed bag, into fridge / freezer for a while till its nice and chilled, battery in, SD card in, try flash it, and keep trying,, some threads (some,, this isn't guaranteed by any means) say it suddenly worked on the tenth, twentieth, or more attempt.
if it does work, its likely indicative of connections going bad through heat wear, or similar.

Magldr will not work without 2.08.Hspl PLUS a ..50.. radio.
You are gonna have to fix your stuck radio first most likely.

A few questions here as the answers may better help people here help you out better. What does your HD2 say in bootloader. Also is your HD2 a T-Mobile Leo or a EU model as this is very nuch need to know information. Information is key when it comes to someone assisting you so the more info the better.
If you have the T-Mobile Leo I suggest you go and download the official update ROM from t-mobile.com. If you have a EU or another model you should go to htc.com and find the correct ROM for your HD2. Sometimes it is best toflash the official ROM as it reverts everything splash screen, SPL, radio, and ROM if you flash it via SD card. This will allow you to just start over and maybe not incounter any problems. You can flash it via USB also but it will not revertigo any HSPL if it is installed.
Also like Samsamuel said if putting your HD2 into a bag and the frig or freezer for a little while helps it boot then it has started having a thermal breakdown of the connections between the CPU (processor) and the mainboard. In this case the only fix is to replace the mainboard in the HD2 as the CPU is not replacable.

I flashed everything with the phone in the freezer, and flashed fine, now after about 5 minutes of use, I have a hang that forces me to do a battery pull... after that I get the 7 vibrates of death on boot... pull the battery again and put in the freezer and it works good for about 5 to 10 minutes of use, however if I only use it for texting and nothing 'smartphone esque' I can keep it on for a couple hours.... guessing the mainboard is shot because of the thermal coupling or something...

Yes your problem is thermal related but it has nothing to do with a thermal coupling LOL It has to do with the heat breaking down the connection between the processor and the mainboard. You can either replace the mainboard or go to the thread I linked below and try the OP's fix, plus you can learn a whole lot more about what your problem is.

Ouch if it does not enter bootloader and does not even turn on then it is bricked and the only way to save it is with JTAG.
So does it turn on at all? Also what exact ROM did you flash, full name please?
i forget
and maybe
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.exe
Do you have all white hardware buttons or do you have a red end and a green send button?
The ROM you flashed should have been good for a international HD2 or a TMOUS HD2. I think you may have a international HD2 which in that case you need to flash SPL 2.08.0000 or SPL 3.03.0000 by using HSPL 4. But if you can not get your HD2 to boot into bootloader by the method then you will not be able to flash HSPL.
One more thing, I can put you in contact with someone that can JTAG your HD2.
There is no reason for that rom to cause problems.
What do you mean by "it can't boot but it can charge to full battery?" If it can't boot, how do you know it can charge? Please explain.
Check the battery pins are not bent.

You have bricked your phone. Since you flashed a rom to your phone which is not for your specific model (which you did), then your device has been bricked. If you have ever installed HSPL before then you may have luck. Go here only if you have put HSPL on your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347. This will give you step by step instructions to unbrick your device.

I thought that it only worked one way - if you have a TMOUS HD2, then the wrong radio (not ROM) will brick it? I did not realize that if one has a Euro HD2 and flashed a TMOUS, it would be bricked?
I have the same problem
Mobile restart for me it helped

correct, theonew is mistaken. tmous roms and radios work fine on reg hd2's, otherwise we wouldnt have the 576mb unlock, or magldr.
the op has a different problem.

If you go here: http://www.htc.com/sea/supportdownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=854 or here: http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=804&news_id=401, it says:"(Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.)". It says "Undesired Effects". So it will cause a problem.

he doesnt have tmous tho, he says he has a eu model
I think it might be bent battery pins.
As was stated, a TMOUS HD2 ROM/Radio should not brick an 8585 because the 8585 is the one that came before and can handle all of the radios, including the test radios and the .51 radios.
It's not software bricked, let's check out the hardware issues.
So, up until recently i used the Nexus-HD2 Gingerbread rom with NAND.
I installed HardSPl, and MAGDLR and switched to another radio, cant remember what type. Anyhow it functioned perfectly and i have used my phone without any problems for 2-3 months.. up until yesterday when i took the phone out of my pocket and found it with a white screen, turned it off and it went right back into the white screen, so i thougt ye, lets just do a install from scratch, but that was not so easy as i first tought.
This is what i have tried so far :
Flash radio with USB (error 270 corrupted image)
Flash MAGDLR (error 270 corrupted image)
Flash HSPL (error 270 corrupted image)
Wipe29 (error 270 corrupted image)
Install with SD card original Norway build (tried 3 different stock rooms) stopps on "Update radio V2" and reboots into HSPL
Myttw without any succsess..
Tried installing clw.. no succsess..
What more can i possibly do? I have found posts regarding this problem before, but no ones seems to find a solution. I have concluded that it is a Radio problem.. I can also read people saying as long as "HSPL" are working you are good to go, and the phone is not bricked...
Can anyone help me out here?
Currently the phone starts and stopps in HSPL, i CAN use the USB cabel, and the text changes from Serial to USB..
could be hardware issue.
put it in a plastic bag in the fridge for 15 minutes, then take it out and reflash stock ROM from SD.
Kidding me? Seriously?
No luck with the phone in the fridge trick, still Radio_V2Fail "Update terminate UPDATE FAIL"

just to make sure, you got your stock ROM thru the HTC support page right?
At the OP, it sounds like you have what is referred to a stuck radio which seemscto be a hardware problem. Your HD2 is not bricked but you will probably have to put another mainboard in your HD2 to make it work again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Yeah if you can't flash a radio you're screwed man.
What does it say in the bootloader?
If it says HSPL you might be super-screwed because it's warranty void
It kinda says HSPL in my bootloader
But it is hardware related right? So all in all it is something the warranty should cover? It has nothing to do with the HSPL and MGDLR, its plain hardware related aight?
Can i buy motherboard someplace? Cause the repaircenters have sick prices..

Doesn't matter, the warranty is void if you flashed HSPL, lol, they know damn well you didn't mess up the device but they still make you pay for it.
a motherboard is a ***** and half to replace if you're not "super solder master 5000" but if you feel up to the task I'd get it online somewhere on the cheap.
Try this to maybe save your ass.
put it in bootloader and try to flash stock SPL using HSPL4.
Do you have the tmobile spash screen?
what else does it say in bootloader?
I've also had success before taking out the battery, leave it out for a couple hours, then try to flash stock ROM again. Don't ask me why but I've had failed flashes work like that before.
Let me see.. øhm.
It's not the T-mobile version, saw a instruction video on the net on how to replace the motherboard, didn't look toooo hard, i think i could make it, but i cant find motherboards, and HTC customer service said thay would not ship one for me, as i had to deliver it to one of their service centers.. and they wanted like 200 $ just for the board, wtf..
When i boot i get into HSPL, i can see CotuellaHSPL 0x50, also SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE. And also "Upgrade ROM code error. Please try again.".
Tried flashing back to stock SPL, but that did not work either..
Il leave the batt out for some hours and see if i get lucky.. if anybody have an extra board i would gladly purchase it.
