Hi guys, I've a problem with my HD2 and maybe one of you has an idea of how to fix this, because I really don't want to send it in for a repair
Anyway, my phone decided to refuse to boot out of nowhere. When it happened I had Artemis v9 or v10 installed on it. The funny thing is that I didn't flash anything when the problem occured.
Whenever I start the phone I only get a white screen. Luckily, I can still access the bootloader, even thought that didn't help me until now.
my guess is that the Radio is somehow corrupted, because when I try to flash a new one I get the error saying "Radio_V2 failed" and "Update Terminated". Not even flashing with task 29 works, because I get a "Error 270" and the phone restarts itself after like 4% of flashing.
I'm really out of ideas, I tried to flash a lot of different roms and radios, even the rom that the HD2 came shipped with.

What radio (if any) have you flashed? Check the ROM's dedicated thread you want to flash and see if the radio is compatible.
Im betting you've flashed the wrong radio
take the rom it was shipped with, name the nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh, copy it to your sd card and go into bootloader.
it will flash your old rom and should overwrite the old radio.
DN41
I installed Radio 2.06.51.07, which was recommended as far as I know.
I tried to install every "official" rom that I could find, but no matter if I apply them via SD card, USB or .exe, the install never finishes.
Tried to install just the OS without a radio and that worked, so I'm almost sure it is somehow radio related.
Now the problem is that I can't even send it to T-Mobile, because I there is no way to get rid of HSPL. BTW, it's the german T-Mobile we are talking about, not the US one. Is there a chance they won't notice the HSPL...?
so flash this one over sd-card: german t-mobile 1.72
what about performing hardreset? does the phone boot?
DN41
Tried flashing the TMO rom, but no luck either
Hard reset is strangly fast (only takes like 7 seconds) and only gives me a white screen after reboot. Apperently the HD2 shows me that HSPL is intsalled in the bootloader, but I can't change the SPL...
Already tried HSPL2, but no matter what option I choose, my bootloader always stays at 1.42 HSPL.
Edit: I would like to post pics of the error I get when flashing from the sd card or the bootloader screen, by the board rules don't want new users to post links.

I have exactly the same problem.
I believe radio hardware of my HD2 has failed.
This is not related to flashing an incompatible radio, as I have flashed 1.66 official ROM about three months ago and had no problems until now.
I got the white screen, when phone was in my pocket.
Not possible to update radio, update fails with "Radio_V2 failed" and "Update Terminated".
Not possible to flash any rom, flashing fails when it comes to radio part.
MTTY didn't help as well.
I see no way but to send it back for repair.
Hope they dont realize HSPL, as it is also not possible to change SPL right now.
Hi everybody, i am facing the same issues with my knew HD2. The fact is that i received it yesterday, while trying to flsah ENERGY ROM ..i flashed also the radio .. now got the white screen with the HTC green logo, and no way to hard reset ... phone doesn't boot, can't do anything !!!!!! volume + and volume - doesn't work !!! any idea any solution ?? I am about to try flashing with the memory card but no idea if it will work, im not sure cause even the HSPL doenst appear ... anu idea ?
I've got the same problem
Mine is a Telstra (Australian) HD2, and I've been using it for about 3 weeks fine. Then a few days ago, I took it out of my pocket, and it's dead. With my one, most of the time I just get a blank screen (no HTC), and most of the time it's slightly yellow.
I'm having the exact same problems, and have done everything suggested on this page, and others. I can't send mine back either.
I'm guessing since no one's replied, there's not really a solution to this.
If it is a failed radio, I'm amazed how easily they fail, and how many people seem to have this problem.
I have the same problem today. Anybody help?

i had the same problem with my Telstra T9193. i couldnt find any solutions so its on its way back to australia under warrenty.
I had a similar problem to this, though it appears I just fixed it. I can only imagine it's just a temporary fix though, as I previously managed to get it working and running Android only to white screen again the next day.
I did a hard reset and now it loaded the white HTC screen and nothing else. I tried installing a stock ROM from the MicroSD card and got the same "Update Terminated Update Fail" error because of the Radio. Retried the update about 3 times, and it eventually installed fine.
same here, i reloaded a stock from sd to relock it, which i highly recommend for anyone having this problem - in case it needs to go for repair and it just happens to boot..it took quite a few tries to have a proper flash and it booted only a few tries afterwards and then went back to only booting the white htc screen. so frustrating. and unfortunately for me it has to go back to australia for warrenty and will likely take ages to get back
I was stuck at multi color boot screen after hard reset. Tried multiple roms.
Solution: Use the 2.13 rom from here. Worked thankfully!

After being looooong on this forum, I finally got my first bricked HTC. I got all the same problems, white screen, no way to get HSPL gone, and no update via SD possible, no ROM update via USB in bootloader and no radio update possible...
Anybody knows how much it costs if I send it to HTC and they find yout it has been HSPL-ed?
Next with the bricked HD2
So definitely I´m in the same situation.. I have unusable SMARTPHONE!!
Even worse, because in my case i have no chance to send it to warranty repair - I was too disparate and curious so I opened my HD2 to look for an backup battery to erase everything that could have resist my countless tries to reflash, hardreset, flash RADIO, flash ROMs...
At the begging was the same (btw the same is still) : I took my phone and it did´t answer for waking it up. So I pressed red button to (soft)reset it. But it booted only to white screen (not the HTC one but "pure" withe w/o logo, w/o software info but with slightly yellow hue)
This was almost whole week ago... During that time I tried almost everything (I don´t have gold card - since I can´t get CID of any SD card I´m not able to have one and have installed HSPL 2.08 I´m ABLE to FLASH any ROM - even successfully reflashed cooked ROM via SD Card.!!) and the answer for me is probably some hardware problem....

I'm sorry, I just sent my to the repair center. Hope they will repair it under warranty. Otherwise it will cost me 100 Euro, just to find out I have to pay for the repairs. Then I can choose to let the device there (then I don't pay 100 euro) or let the device ship back (I pay 100 euro for a brick) or let them do the repairs which they will say how much it will cost on top of that 100 euro ..... stress ....

With the radio bricked there are only two things you can try to do:
1- You can go on using your hd2 without updating the radio. Try to download a rom without radio and install it, or ask a cook to prepare a rom (you can try an official rom if you want to recover the original SPL) without radio for you.
2 - Do what I did and sell the phone as bricked, because there's no way to unbrick radio system. I tried to save my HD2 by recovering the original SPL and sending the phone to the htc customer service. I got the phone back after 2 months and it was still radio bricked

upload a pix of your bootloader screen,I had similar kind of problem.I 've been through a lot of hardship dealing with the that.Maybe i could help u a bit.
Well before everyone attacks me with "try searching on forums" responses, i have done that already. So here is my problem. no matter what build i use i will occassionally get sod and have to remove the battery to power it back on. the button lights turn on like its going to power on but no matter how long i wait it wont come out of sleep.
I have all display settings turned off in windows mobile before i boot into android, and i have auto like turned off in both windows and android. I have auto rotate turned off, and screen time out set to 30 min, which actually fixed my problem for a while. it always seems to happen that something happens that i have to power off my phone, and as soon as i do that is when it starts acting up and i get sod. it takes a few tries of taking out the battery for the phone to stop getting sod but after a few days it seems to come back.
I have even tried reformatting my sd card and still had the problem. i have the stock 16 gig sd card it came with. i havent flashed anything on the phone because i dont want to risk screwing up, so you guys are my last resort because i have tried everything.
Time to try different sd card.
In both windows and android, Auto light is off and you manually set the display backlight?
Have you tried the hyperdroid 1.7 version??

Im pretty sure this is ur problem. Lots of things go wrong with stock.
its not as hard as it seems. just follow the intructions for ur specific hd2.
(look in the usa hd2 forums) if ur a usa hd2 user. IM SURE ITS A STICKY.
IF U WANT TRY THE OFFICIAL UPDATE FROM T-MOBILE!
i have heard good things about it
Unfortunately you have no choice but to flash the HSPL, a custom rom, and a radio. these are easy. ive flashed my phone countless times. I've also flashed other peoples HD2's countless times. Even when the phone was in the middle of flashing and the power went out at my house it did not brick the phone.
If you want to run android as a daily driver (like I do) my best advice is to flash the following.
HSPL (duh lol) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
Radio version 2.12.50 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9GU2FF3X
WinMo rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734238
(click on the first 'ChuckyDroidRom' picture under downloads in the first post.
You will use this utility to flash the 3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575524
when/if you download the 3 items, create a folder on your desktop. Name it something simple. Then inside that folder create 3 folders. name them HSPL, Radio, WinMo Rom. extract the downloaded items to their respective folders.
with the customRUU utility. extract the file to each of the folders.
Then,
Flash the HSPL first, the radio second, then the winmo rom.
when finished with those use the format sd card app in windows mobile to format your sd card (the program is set to format to android specs)
then copy whatever android build you want to the sd card.
Enjoy!
if you have any questions you may feel free to PM me. I will be home all day and would not mind helping you.
wow that is a lot easier than i thought well so far its working really nice, i havent got any sod yet, keeping my fingers crossed lol. thanks everyone for the help!

Yeah I promise you it was your radio/rom version. I had the EXACT same problem and nothing fixed it until I flashed and updated my radio. sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and dive deep!
cheers on your fixed phone, and knock on wood for no more SOD!
If you do experience SOD again. I recommend a faster SD card. I was having issues with any build I was using. Up to date flashed radio and lite WM rom, my only cure was faster SD card. I went from the stock 16GB C2, to an 8GB C6 (17.99 from Amazon), and I have not experienced SOD anymore. I have issues where sometimes the screen will not come back on right away, and I have to wait a few seconds, but it never sleeps on me anymore.
I have been using NAND since the public release on NYE. Most recenly when updating ROMs I had tons of freezing, & still do. Initially i thought it was a problem with the SD and did the panasonic format util & tried booting with no card at all. Same **** happened again. So I thought to flash a stock rom (winmo6.5) and see if there were any problems. I figured let's do a Task29, I even reflashed the radio & HSPL. When I flash an offical or custom ROM its gets to like 53% and then vibrates like 5 times. The process finishes normally, but upon reboot it makes the same 5 vibrates and stays stuck on the "Stick Together" screen. Also I did get OzDroid to fully boot one time, but the screen was unresponsive 100%. I don't know what the deal is, but this is all the stuff I know how to do & after much searching I still don't know what the multiple vibrates mean. I don't know if its time to send it in or what
Try to redownliad another official rom. Maybe it was F'ed up
Already did that. Tried using the SD method using LEOIMG.nbh on the root, by renaming the the official Tmousa .exe to .zip and extracting the RUU_signed.nbh
I got it to boot finally, but when it came to the initial settings screen (picking carriers etc) it got completely unresponsive. I have tried flashing an Energy rom, OzDroid, official tmousa ship rom, t-mobile.com official update rom; All ending in failure. I think UltimateDroid fried it.......i'm gonna cap who ported that crap
Edit:
I got it working again by doing a factory restore (vol+ & vol-) + power, and then flashing the most recent RUU_signed.ngh found in the latest tmousa .exe - Haven't tried to flash magldr or any other roms as I suspect the nand/and/or ram is damaged. We'll see how it goes, it may have been bad sectors or a ****ed up allocation of some kind. Hopefully this fixed it.
Edit2:
It's still ****ed.......tried to install magldr and it works.......sometimes. Sometimes it won't load the recovery at all. Sometimes it boots the android rom all the way and then freezes when it gets to the initial setup screen (which I have also tried bypassing w/the 4 corners method) but it still freezes eventually. Guess this piece is ****ed.
That sucks man. Definitely something wrong
Hehe good luck bro
It's probably user error. I'm almost certain it is as no HD2 will mess up from nand. You should sell it and get a nokia 3595. Leave the smart phones to smart people.
Hello..a friend of mine gave me a HD2 to fix, said it can't load anything. As I own a HD2, I took it just to see what's wrong. I own an Asian HD2, and everything is fine, I tried various ROMs..both Android and WinPhone, settled at Hyperdroid. Anyway, I have no idea where the heck the other HD2 is from, neither my friend has.
So, the phone had nothing in it and was stuck at the HTC logo, so I loaded into bootloader and saw HSPL 3.03. Then I changed it to 2.08 in order to install MIUI android. Then I installed MAGLDR. The issue occured when I went to install CWM. I loaded the 150M partition at USB Flasher, it was doing all fine until it became stuck at "reset now...!". So I just took the battery off, and tried to load into AD recovery. While it loads to 1, then it shows "fatal hit" error. I tried a lot of times including task 29, but it persists. Was the phone bricked from earlier ? Something like heating issues I assume. Anyway, I tried to install my phones stock WinMo rom to it from SD but it also gives error like failed, not allow etc. The both phone looks the same, under the battery hood of my phone, it's written HTC HD2 T5858. On the other one, nothing. Rest visuals are same.
So is there any way I can bring this anonymous HD2 to life ? I think it's almost dead but still if there's any way you people can come up with. I'm using a 2GB Sandisk MicroSD and the phone's S/N is HT01CNW04979 ; if that helps to sort out the phone's identity. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

our hd2s are going to diee D: stop joking, I (and toher guys) think that is hardware related....like in my case....but I don't really know what's the problem, just guessing....take a look to my post
True that. Only the difference is, it's happening to me during clockwork recovery installation. And I don't know where the heck is the phone from so that I can load custom WinMo lol. My own HD2 is doing just fine by the way.

Hey guys!
I'm having a rather strange problem with an HD2 unit. It belongs to a friend of mine and since I used to own one he turned to me for help, but as it appears I am helpless in the matter as well.
He claims he hadn't experienced any problems ever since he got it. He was using a custom WM6.5 ROM flashed by me no less than a year ago. Suddenly phone just rebooted showed a splash-screen, then 7 vibrates then nothing. I did a google search etc. and I found out this points to a MB hardware problems.
The thing is this:
I AM able to re-flash HSPL and OSPL properly.
I AM able to flash MAGLDR 1.13, but it won' boot. I just see the title, but no menu after that. PC installation states install finishes correctly.
I am NOT able to flash any radio custom or stock, nor am I able to flash any stock or custom ROM.
So I was just wondering - before I decide to give my friend advice to pay money for MB replacement should I try anything else?
Note: I DID try putting the phone (battery out) in the freezer for a few mins in a plastic bag. No change in any proccess whatsoever.
P.S. I believe I forgot to mention it is a EU HD2 unit.
Bad news
IMO it's a faulty MB, I doubt anyone could revive it, if freezer trick is not working, this is final verdict: dead!!!
I am still considering the option of the oven though... I just might take it apart and put the MB in the oven... or use a hot-air station... I'd be really thankful if someone shares experience and conclusions about similar activities
