Hello,
I'm a noob, through and through. I think that I did everything correctly. I flashed Artemis v8.0 and followed the instructions, then it said that it was completed successfully. When it boots, however, it gets stuck on the "stick together" screen and displays the R G and D information in the bottom-left as it should. Also, when I access the bootloader and re-run the flash, I see no image version information listed. I should mention that the flashing process only took about two minutes. I already did a hard reset.
Did I do something wrong? What do I do?
Update: I tried flashing KUMAR and have the same results; the only dirrerence is that the information listed for D has changed to 1.66.KUMAR... oh my...
...Wow.... I can't believe it. It won't turn it on at all after flashing the original LEO ROM. Looks like I'm toast now...****...
What radio are you running? What model phone is it?
The radio is default. I didn't touch that. I installed HSPL then flashed a couple of ROMs, none of which worked. I think that I may have flashed the wrong version of the official LEO ROM fromthe sticky. So, it looks like I'm screwed. The best way to learn from your mistakes is to lose $500.
you still didnt say what phone, tmous is different from all other hd2's
if its a tmous, then yea, i suspect its gone. (it was possibly recoverable at your first and second posts, cos that was roms that dont support 576meg ram, so flashing a tmous specifric rom would(i think) have fixed it, but what official rom did you flash? anything other than the tmous 2.10 rom will have had a bad radio, and as we all know by now, the wrong radio bricks tmous's
(Edit - sorry, didn't mean to rub it in, just wanted to explain what had happened at each step)
I flashed LEO 1.48 (WWE) from the stickied thread. I can't post the link because I'm new. I don't even know what TMOUS means, so I suspect that's not a good thing. It's the model with 1024 MB ROM is all that I know. If I can find out exactly what, let me know.

Yea, tmous is T Mobile US. They will ONLY accept roms of the 2.10 family. Thats why your first 2 rom flashes failed.
However the damage was done by the radio. Stock roms come with a radio as part of the rom, and the official rom you flashed is oooold. Certainly it has a ..51.. radio.
Any radio with ..51.. in the version will not support the 576meg ram that the tmous has, and as it turns out, they stop the phone even powering on. (or powers on but black screen, the PC sees it as a qualcomm usb device, if it sees it at all.)
I've yet to see anyone offer any kind of fix, though i have seen people say they have had it replaced by tmob.
Unlucky.

So, I now have a couple of options. I could go back to the store and play dumb, or I could physically damage it and pay the $150 or so to get it replaced. Thoughts?

So if they don't take it back, would they take note of the fact that my warranty is voided so I couldn't go ahead and pay the $150 for a new one? I really appreciate your help.
if they figure out the warranty its void im sure they'll still fix it, they'll just charge for it.

Alright, they took it back no questions asked. I'm going to actually end up saving $200 because of this - my contract is up in a week! Thanks for your help, samsamuel. Great community here. Now I just hope I'm not stupid enough to try it again!
heh so there is a silver lining after all.
you used HSPL?
if you did that and you go back to store make sure you dont have HSPL more on your phone!!!!!!
I have made the same mistake, i flash the rom energy 1apr , the flash was made succesfuly end phone was started normal and functioned , i close the phone and when i opened him , the phone stock on the wake up screen ( htc on white screen ). what kan I do?, please help me
i had some how same problem before like Sticking in boot screen
1. i tried hard reset hold Volume up+down and press end button till it will start and then it will ask you if you wanna do reset and press volume up for accept after that finish it will ask again to press volume up for boot then it would boot. if does then you need to correct the radio and also ROM which is correct for you
2. another is task29 method
let me know if you could make it...
thanx , i am at work , bath will try later
@costinn : try to flash the proper Radio ROM. It happened to a lot of people because they do not learn about the radio compatibility! Try 2.08.50.08 and you will be fine!
Hi guys, I've a problem with my HD2 and maybe one of you has an idea of how to fix this, because I really don't want to send it in for a repair
Anyway, my phone decided to refuse to boot out of nowhere. When it happened I had Artemis v9 or v10 installed on it. The funny thing is that I didn't flash anything when the problem occured.
Whenever I start the phone I only get a white screen. Luckily, I can still access the bootloader, even thought that didn't help me until now.
my guess is that the Radio is somehow corrupted, because when I try to flash a new one I get the error saying "Radio_V2 failed" and "Update Terminated". Not even flashing with task 29 works, because I get a "Error 270" and the phone restarts itself after like 4% of flashing.
I'm really out of ideas, I tried to flash a lot of different roms and radios, even the rom that the HD2 came shipped with.

What radio (if any) have you flashed? Check the ROM's dedicated thread you want to flash and see if the radio is compatible.
Im betting you've flashed the wrong radio
take the rom it was shipped with, name the nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh, copy it to your sd card and go into bootloader.
it will flash your old rom and should overwrite the old radio.
DN41
I installed Radio 2.06.51.07, which was recommended as far as I know.
I tried to install every "official" rom that I could find, but no matter if I apply them via SD card, USB or .exe, the install never finishes.
Tried to install just the OS without a radio and that worked, so I'm almost sure it is somehow radio related.
Now the problem is that I can't even send it to T-Mobile, because I there is no way to get rid of HSPL. BTW, it's the german T-Mobile we are talking about, not the US one. Is there a chance they won't notice the HSPL...?
so flash this one over sd-card: german t-mobile 1.72
what about performing hardreset? does the phone boot?
DN41
Tried flashing the TMO rom, but no luck either
Hard reset is strangly fast (only takes like 7 seconds) and only gives me a white screen after reboot. Apperently the HD2 shows me that HSPL is intsalled in the bootloader, but I can't change the SPL...
Already tried HSPL2, but no matter what option I choose, my bootloader always stays at 1.42 HSPL.
Edit: I would like to post pics of the error I get when flashing from the sd card or the bootloader screen, by the board rules don't want new users to post links.

I have exactly the same problem.
I believe radio hardware of my HD2 has failed.
This is not related to flashing an incompatible radio, as I have flashed 1.66 official ROM about three months ago and had no problems until now.
I got the white screen, when phone was in my pocket.
Not possible to update radio, update fails with "Radio_V2 failed" and "Update Terminated".
Not possible to flash any rom, flashing fails when it comes to radio part.
MTTY didn't help as well.
I see no way but to send it back for repair.
Hope they dont realize HSPL, as it is also not possible to change SPL right now.
Hi everybody, i am facing the same issues with my knew HD2. The fact is that i received it yesterday, while trying to flsah ENERGY ROM ..i flashed also the radio .. now got the white screen with the HTC green logo, and no way to hard reset ... phone doesn't boot, can't do anything !!!!!! volume + and volume - doesn't work !!! any idea any solution ?? I am about to try flashing with the memory card but no idea if it will work, im not sure cause even the HSPL doenst appear ... anu idea ?
I've got the same problem
Mine is a Telstra (Australian) HD2, and I've been using it for about 3 weeks fine. Then a few days ago, I took it out of my pocket, and it's dead. With my one, most of the time I just get a blank screen (no HTC), and most of the time it's slightly yellow.
I'm having the exact same problems, and have done everything suggested on this page, and others. I can't send mine back either.
I'm guessing since no one's replied, there's not really a solution to this.
If it is a failed radio, I'm amazed how easily they fail, and how many people seem to have this problem.
I have the same problem today. Anybody help?

i had the same problem with my Telstra T9193. i couldnt find any solutions so its on its way back to australia under warrenty.
I had a similar problem to this, though it appears I just fixed it. I can only imagine it's just a temporary fix though, as I previously managed to get it working and running Android only to white screen again the next day.
I did a hard reset and now it loaded the white HTC screen and nothing else. I tried installing a stock ROM from the MicroSD card and got the same "Update Terminated Update Fail" error because of the Radio. Retried the update about 3 times, and it eventually installed fine.
same here, i reloaded a stock from sd to relock it, which i highly recommend for anyone having this problem - in case it needs to go for repair and it just happens to boot..it took quite a few tries to have a proper flash and it booted only a few tries afterwards and then went back to only booting the white htc screen. so frustrating. and unfortunately for me it has to go back to australia for warrenty and will likely take ages to get back
I was stuck at multi color boot screen after hard reset. Tried multiple roms.
Solution: Use the 2.13 rom from here. Worked thankfully!

After being looooong on this forum, I finally got my first bricked HTC. I got all the same problems, white screen, no way to get HSPL gone, and no update via SD possible, no ROM update via USB in bootloader and no radio update possible...
Anybody knows how much it costs if I send it to HTC and they find yout it has been HSPL-ed?
Next with the bricked HD2
So definitely I´m in the same situation.. I have unusable SMARTPHONE!!
Even worse, because in my case i have no chance to send it to warranty repair - I was too disparate and curious so I opened my HD2 to look for an backup battery to erase everything that could have resist my countless tries to reflash, hardreset, flash RADIO, flash ROMs...
At the begging was the same (btw the same is still) : I took my phone and it did´t answer for waking it up. So I pressed red button to (soft)reset it. But it booted only to white screen (not the HTC one but "pure" withe w/o logo, w/o software info but with slightly yellow hue)
This was almost whole week ago... During that time I tried almost everything (I don´t have gold card - since I can´t get CID of any SD card I´m not able to have one and have installed HSPL 2.08 I´m ABLE to FLASH any ROM - even successfully reflashed cooked ROM via SD Card.!!) and the answer for me is probably some hardware problem....

I'm sorry, I just sent my to the repair center. Hope they will repair it under warranty. Otherwise it will cost me 100 Euro, just to find out I have to pay for the repairs. Then I can choose to let the device there (then I don't pay 100 euro) or let the device ship back (I pay 100 euro for a brick) or let them do the repairs which they will say how much it will cost on top of that 100 euro ..... stress ....

With the radio bricked there are only two things you can try to do:
1- You can go on using your hd2 without updating the radio. Try to download a rom without radio and install it, or ask a cook to prepare a rom (you can try an official rom if you want to recover the original SPL) without radio for you.
2 - Do what I did and sell the phone as bricked, because there's no way to unbrick radio system. I tried to save my HD2 by recovering the original SPL and sending the phone to the htc customer service. I got the phone back after 2 months and it was still radio bricked

this has probably been asked 100 times, but I can't seem to find a solution from searching.... I purchased a hd2 off craigslist, they said had a bad battery... my first mistake... so I get it home and hook it up to a charger and boot it, it hangs on splash screen... so I try to just go ahead and flash a 2.**.50.** radio to goo ahead and install MAGLDR, it hangs at 96%, for like 30 minutes, so I pull the battery, reboot and get a black screen, so I try to flash a shipped rom via SD, again hangs at radio.... try task29, stuck at 99%.... any solutions? or am I bricked?
What happens if you try flash via SD?

Battery out, sim and SD out, but a radio leoimg.nbh prepared on SD card.
Phone into sealed bag, into fridge / freezer for a while till its nice and chilled, battery in, SD card in, try flash it, and keep trying,, some threads (some,, this isn't guaranteed by any means) say it suddenly worked on the tenth, twentieth, or more attempt.
if it does work, its likely indicative of connections going bad through heat wear, or similar.

Magldr will not work without 2.08.Hspl PLUS a ..50.. radio.
You are gonna have to fix your stuck radio first most likely.

A few questions here as the answers may better help people here help you out better. What does your HD2 say in bootloader. Also is your HD2 a T-Mobile Leo or a EU model as this is very nuch need to know information. Information is key when it comes to someone assisting you so the more info the better.
If you have the T-Mobile Leo I suggest you go and download the official update ROM from t-mobile.com. If you have a EU or another model you should go to htc.com and find the correct ROM for your HD2. Sometimes it is best toflash the official ROM as it reverts everything splash screen, SPL, radio, and ROM if you flash it via SD card. This will allow you to just start over and maybe not incounter any problems. You can flash it via USB also but it will not revertigo any HSPL if it is installed.
Also like Samsamuel said if putting your HD2 into a bag and the frig or freezer for a little while helps it boot then it has started having a thermal breakdown of the connections between the CPU (processor) and the mainboard. In this case the only fix is to replace the mainboard in the HD2 as the CPU is not replacable.

I flashed everything with the phone in the freezer, and flashed fine, now after about 5 minutes of use, I have a hang that forces me to do a battery pull... after that I get the 7 vibrates of death on boot... pull the battery again and put in the freezer and it works good for about 5 to 10 minutes of use, however if I only use it for texting and nothing 'smartphone esque' I can keep it on for a couple hours.... guessing the mainboard is shot because of the thermal coupling or something...

Yes your problem is thermal related but it has nothing to do with a thermal coupling LOL It has to do with the heat breaking down the connection between the processor and the mainboard. You can either replace the mainboard or go to the thread I linked below and try the OP's fix, plus you can learn a whole lot more about what your problem is.

Ok, guys I REALLY NEED HELP WITH MY TMOUS HD2.
I currently have HSPL 2.08 but everytime i go into the bootloader and install a WinMo 6.5 Rom it gets stucked at 8% percent for awhile then goes to 100. After i installed it, it gets stuck on T-Mobile, Stick Together screen with the R G B thing on the bottom.
I had NAND on my HD2 but it keeps freezing in every rom anytime I use data connection, recieve calls, or use browser or anything that uses the Data Or T-Mobile Connection. So i decide to reflash everything starting with Radio, and I recently installed Radio 2.15 something like that in A radio thread somewhere on the forums. I chose that one because im assuming it's the newest one. I flashed it, and removed MAGLDR, and etc. I currently tried using Task29 and flashed stock 2.08 radio but had the same problems. I CANNOT FLASH ANY ROMS. I TRIED REFLASHING MAGLDR AND CWM AND I CANT GET INTO RECOVERY I GET A FATAL ERROR1. Should return the HD2 to T-Mobile? They don't sell the HD2 anymore so i assume HTC will have to give me one. I'm currently deciding the only choice i have is to return my HD2 to T-Mobile. I flashed SPL 2.08 so it's back to stock. I cannot install or load any roms without it being stuck in the T-Mobile screen. Any help? Or i just have to replace it with a new one?

your phone is currently out of warranty, do not send it to HTC.
Download the tmobile stock ROM by going to the tmobile website > support and they will aks you for your IMEI and SN, enter it and it will give you a download for the stock ROM.
Download the ROM, then extract the file.
Take the .nbh file and rename it to LEOIMG.NBH
put that on the root of your 8gb or less SD card, pop it in, get into bootloader, and hit the power button when it tells you to.
IF this fails it sounds like a hardware issue.
Put your phone in a plastic bag and stick it in th fridge for 10 minutes, take it out and reflash as above, after flash call HTC on a warranty claim because your phone will be stock and hence back in warranty.
I've tried that, i only have a 16gb sd card and it works, but it gets stuck in the stick together crap. D:
seems to be cropping up every few days lately, this problem, though it's always been around. 'stuck radio', 'spl wont change ' 'flash fails at 8/9/10%' and variants thereof, , android gives fatal hit, nothing sticks when flashed, and teh phone never gets past teh rgd screen (cos the radio is shafted)
so i cant send it to htc? then wtf..?

Well from reading this thread I agree with samsamuel, it sounds like you are having a hardware problem as most of the HD2's that people have that show the symptoms Sam mentioned can not be fixed with software solutions. Bu there is the occasional anomaly that someone manages to bring back to life but even m,ost of them eventually completely get "stuck" and then they are useless.
As for what to do. You can take it or send it somewhere to replace the mainboard for you. Or just buy another HD2. That is it short and sweet.
so whats the update blahblah 13233?
Thanks guys with all the help possible, I went to a T-Mobile store and asked for a replacement, it should be coming in 2 days. I had to pay 5$ Shipping. So when I get my new phone I gotta give my old phone in some container or whatever and mail it to htc or give it to any T-Mobile store Thanks guys with giving me ideas. The people at T-Mobile said it's a hardware problem like the guy stated above. Oh well, I hope it doesn't happen again.
Well this one's a doozy of sorts, I'll try to be brief but any advice or assistance is welcome. Got a TMOUS HD2 on Saturday, it "worked" for a bit of time with the stock WinMo6.5 on it (no, I didn't care to look at the version, etc) and after having it for a few minutes to verify everything from a hardware perspective was working, I set out to do the usual process to get Android on it. I just wanted to get a CM7.2 build on it, preferably the actual CM7.2 and not a more customized ROM.
I have done the following:
- HSPL 2.08 - check, successful (as noted on the bootloader screen), done using HSPL4
- Task29 - check, successful (as far as I can tell), done from bootloader (VolDown+Power, Task29 provided by doloop single exe)
- Radio installed: 2.15.50.14 TMOUS (yes, it's the TMOUS version), check, successful (as far as I can tell), done from HD2Toolkit 4.2.0.1
- MAGLDR 1.1.3, check, successful, done from bootloader (DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF installer)
Now, at that point it was basically blank, obviously, so I decided to try and get CWM installed and that's when everything seems to have gone wrong. I get the FATAL HIT1 errors, it won't get past that. I read a post in the hundreds if not thousands I've been reading over where someone suggested when that error comes up, do the VolUp+VolDown+Power and do the reset - it only takes a half second since the device is already blank but some people reported in posts that it seemed to fix the FATAL HIT1 error and got CWM to actually load.
Didn't help in my situation. So I decided to start over at that point and flash the stock TMOUS 2.13.531.1 nbh (downloaded direct from T-Mobile, extension changed to zip, RUU_signed.nbh extracted to microSD card and renamed to leoimg.nbh) and attempting to do it from the bootloader.
At this point that aspect starts to work but it gets to about 8% (the same place it gets when using the actual T-Mobile ROMUpdateUtility method in Windows) and then dies. But the difference with using the microSD card method is that it tells me the following:
RADIO_V2 - RSA FAIL
in big red letters so I'm suspecting there's something going on with the radio that's just not kosher with the installer. I'm not sure how to proceed at this point - I'd like to get the HD2 functional again, preferably getting the stable CM7.2 ROM on it (not a big huge fan of ICS and JB is simply not my choice right now on the HD).
Problem is I don't know how to proceed at this point. If I can get it back to the stock WM6.5 that's fine for the time being so the device works, then I'll see what's going on with getting Android on it later, but I figure I'd rather ask a question or two, or three, before sitting here flashing radio after radio not being sure just what's going on and how best to get this issue resolved.
As noted, any advice or suggestions is welcome. I'm still trying various things at this time, including figuring out which radio to fall back to and test but, it's not going well so far.
loads of threads about this, my name for it is 'stuck radio' but it can also affect the spl too. Basically, there is corruption somewhere in the first area of nand, where the spl and radio live. whether thats software corruption (pray that it is, you may just stand a chance) or hardware corruption, you can't tell. the fact that magldr flashed would suggest its not as critical as normal, , some people get rsa radio fail and nothing at all works, no task 29, changing spl doesnt work, nothung at all. Often something seems to work (hspl gives success, for instance) but nothing actually changes after reboot.
So, first thing to try is - phone into a baggie, baggie into freezer, 20 / 30 mins later get it out, and real quick get the sd card in there already with the tmous stock rom as leoimg.nbh on there, and straight into bootloader, , see if it flashes past the radio section (the radio is flashed at roughly 6 - 10%, thats why you;re hanging at 8%, , 8% or 9% are the main reported percentages , lower % seems to involve the spl more (as you would expect, it is the first thing to be flashed)
There have been a few successes using teh freezer trick, and also a few more where JTAG has fixed it, but as often as not it never gets fixed.
failing that, see if you can flash a custom winmo 6.5 rom, because although the radio is failing to flash, it may still be in working order, and since custom roms dont include a radio, it may well flash, giving you at least a partially working phone.
Yah, the more I dig into it the more it's obvious there's an issue with the radio (like, duh ). I'm attempting to flash that Dutty's Leo Sense 2.5 that I saw mentioned in several posts by people that said they had success getting the device working at least to some degree - I grabbed the ROM, extracted the contents, copied the nbh to the microSD card, renamed it to leoimg.nbh, and at the moment it's just crossing the 50% point so, that is some progress at least (probably because it doesn't have a radio as you stated).
Will see what happens, but it is frustrating to appear to be able to do everything but actually get the radio flashed. HSPL flashes work after the reboot, Task29 always works (or appears to), MAGLDR only gives me issues when I try to get into AD Recovery from time to time, and so on. The usual HD2 issues I suppose.
This is my 5th HD2 and I'd like to get it working just like the others I've owned - none of them had anything like this much difficulty with getting Android (or anything at all) working properly so, maybe my luck ran out when I decided to get this one, who knows.
While I normally always find the TMOUS version of the HD2 here in pawn shops in Vegas, in the past week there have been 4 or 5 international unbranded models that popped up but, I avoid 'em since I believe the TMOUS variant is the better choice. Got this one for $75 and swapped a decent battery from one of the international ones when the clerk wasn't looking.
So much for that idea, either way (from microSD card or from Custom_RUU) the Dutty's ROM just hangs at the white/pink "stick together" screen and does nothing else. I then attempted to do a regular install of the stock TMOUS ROM again, no dice.
Geez... this stuff sucks sometimes.
Still hoping, of course.
ah thats a shame. the only other thing that comes to mind is seeing one or two threads with teh same problem where the poster simply tried again and again with the various versions of the (correct!) stock rom, and suddenly it flashed, and once teh radio was replaced it all worked again. I would have thought though that if it were going to do that, the freezer trick would also have worked.
I'd definitely try the three released stock tmous roms, , 2.10, 2.13 and 3.14, anbd perhaps some of the lower ones, too, , , see the 't mobile test & stock roms' thread in the tmous section DO NOT flash the first few, since the first one will brick it, and the next two or three have manufacturing spls, which can prove dificult to remove. (Not that you have anything to lose.)
flash from sd card., no point messing with the .exe, , more likely to work from sd card.
Heres a thought, , , forget the internal nand completely, , set up an ext4 partition, and then using sd card based recovery, flash an android rom using nativeSD. So long as magldr can be succesfully pointed at an sd card folder, you needn't use teh nand at all.
Dammit, no luck with any SD or NativeSD either. It simply won't ever get past the GO GO GO! event, no matter what I do. Tried several different recoveries (accessed from MAGLDR) and every time they just stick at GO GO GO! and never do anything past that. It DOES note the SD card is there, MAGLDR can access it to load the kernel, but it always ends up stuck at GO GO GO! and that's that. I was thinking if I could just get some type of recovery loaded (TWRP, CWM, I don't care) then perhaps I could do something more but, it's just a NO GO GO GO!
I did find that leodiag.nbh thing and gave that a shot, the diagnostic portion won't start because of the radio timing out (go figure, with the bad radio flash) so that won't even run, and the reset function doesn't either as it only sees the microSD card and still won't work.
It's like I feel like I'm missing one single thing that could turn it all around but, I'm tired of messing with it. Found the suggestion to hold in the reset button (mine is white, never seen a yellow or red one so...) and then turn the power on but it never does a reboot no matter how long I wait with the reset button still depressed.
Guess it's just not gonna happen this time...
yea unfortunately that's very often the way these turn out. the radio is blocking flashes from happening, and android from loading.
Do make sure you've given the freezer trick a good chance before you give up, i've read threads where the flash suddenly took after several attempts, (however in all fairness, if the freezer trick does help, it is usually indicative of hardware overheating problems anyway)
Well, against my better judgment but having enough experience (read: decades) with consumer electronics I figure the freezer thing - since it does actually work with hard drives in some situations - couldn't hurt.
Sure enough, after only about 2 minutes in the freezer (laying on some frozen food) I gave the SD update a shot and sure enough it finished, and after taking it out of the freezer a few minutes later, it booted into Windows Mobile just fine but, of course, then comes the letdown.
It froze up (not literally in terms of temperature), rebooted, then rebooted again before it got back into Windows Mobile, then on the 3rd reboot it just stopped and was stuck at the "stick together" screen where it simply won't get past.
So, obviously this one is suffering from the overheating issue, and I don't have access to an SMD oven or a proper heat gun (not that I'm going to go that far to revive it), so it's on craigslist for sale as-is presently. Funny thing is I've had 23 people respond for it since I know and they know and we here at XDA know all about how popular the HD2 is, even one like this one with potential good parts for use in some other one.
Let's hope someone actually shows up with cash, could use it for bills.
Thanks for the information, sam.
By the way would someone have a spare volume button ?
