X8 solution for Sim Unlock with Omnius. - XPERIA X8 General

Well, this is very simple.
If you have Sim Unlocked your phone with Omnius and intented to unlock the bootloader with MSM727 tool probably you have lose your radio signal.
For repair this you should relock the bootloader, put back stock kernel and any ROM that works with this.
If you want to use customs kernels, well you will need to unlock the bootloader with Omnius too. I used two licences "Android single unlock", one for sim unlock and one for bootloader unlock. I believe that you can use just one and do just bootloader unlock because I think that will remove simlock too. Not sure but worth to try.
Well, it's done, from now on you can flash custom kernels and have radio too.
But I need to mention that " WHEN YOU FLASH THE KERNEL YOU MUST FLASH IT WITH OMNIUS TOO". It's free by the way. With flashtool will get an error.
That's it. Nice flashing for all of you and : DON'T BRICK THE PHONE.

Why should I unlock CID?

sorry about the dumb question but why would one unlock CID?
Besides, the fact that I dont know what CID really is, I am not able to find the answer to the need/advantage of an unlocked CID.
If I purchase a SIM unlocked phone from any third party vendor (not form a Phone provide under a year's contract) I am able to flush the ROM (such as the GPS enable HTC ROM) as I like, correct?
So, why the need to unlock this CID? Is this procedure only necessary for phones sold through a provider or in order to flash with ROM releases from Dopod, O2 or any other then HTC directly?
Thanks for any explanation!
SIM unlocking is different from CID unlocking.
SIM unlocking lets you put a sim card from any phone company in.
CID unlocking lets you put any ROM on that you want because your phone is not looking for specific security codes to authenticate the ROM as official or genuine.
Just because the phone is SIM free, doesnt mean it's CID unlocked.
Actually CID unlocking only lets you install signed ROMs from other vendors than the one you originally bought your device from.
Des developed SSPL which allows you to do the same, and even flash unsigned (cooked) roms, you can also use CustomRUU which automatically pushes Des SSPL on your phone for you before flashing the ROM or use HardSPL (which is SSPL but flashed into the phone).
This means nowadays you can flash any ROM without the need to CID unlock your device, and retaining your original CID keeps the warranty, so there's no real need to CID unlock your Trinity anymore.

thank you very much for the explanation!
I am still not understanding everything (Des SSPL, HardSPL, etc) but apparently I am not really required to unlock CID, since I am planing on keeping the warranty alive and only use official HTC ROM's.
Thank you!

How to restore a Simlock

I have a tytn and I used the pof application to unlock the simlock?
For purposes I won't get into, I need to restore the simlock. It was originally with Rogers. I have already restore the ROM, not the radio, and have yet to downgrade the SPL/IPL but will do so after I am satisfied with the restoration.
Thanks
unless I missed something on pof's thread, once u sim unlock then it's always unlocked.
I actually don't see it posted anywhere if it is possible to reverse the sim unlock for warranty purposes...

Order for sim unlock & flashing rom

It's my first post here. Done a lot of reading but still couldn't find the answer to this.
I got a sim locked T-Mobile Wing from T-Mobile. Still waiting for the unlock code. This could take a long time for my case. Should I wait until I get the code and unlock the Wing before flashing ROM??? I am very eager to play with the custom ROM's a lot of people are using.... If I do it now, will it cause problem later when I try to sim unlock???

What problem did you have? I thought if you do Sim Unlock first, there shoudn't be any problem. I am just worried about if I flash the phone first, the unlock code I will get from T-Mobile later might not work. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks.
i sim unlocked then flashed
the unlock code is stored in the phone operating system not on the sim card
but dont worry the phone will always recogize the unlock code every time u flash it. it never changes unless you hack your imei

So I don't have to unlock now and can go ahead to upgrade ROM and then unlock later with the new ROM? Just want to confirm. Thanks.

that doesn't make sense.. everytime you flash your flashing a new operating system. theres no way the sim unlock code is part of the operating system.
It Probably Makes More Sense To Me
Basically With The Unlock Code Your Unlocking The Phone Not The Sim Card So It Is Saved To The Phone When You Flash The Phone You Erase Everything On The Phone
This is exactly why I am reluctant to flash it now since I have not unlocked the phone yet.
I know that, with some other phones like motorola, even if you have unlocked the phone, but if you flash with a wrong stock, you can lock it again and it is very difficult to unlock later...
Can anybody else share their experiences about the Wing?
If you follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358225 you can unlock your phone without worrying about the code from T-mo. You will be able to flash any ROM you choose. Just follow it to the letter. Worked great for me.
My main reason to flash was because of all the memory the stock ROM sucked. You'll be amazed by the chefs in the forum.

The unlock is not in the phone's operating system... its in the phone hardware. I think many will get confused if you are telling them its in the OS since you flash the OS when you flash the ROM.
Everyone should know that the IMEI is hardware based like the MAC address of the phone. To change the IMEI would not only break US law's but would void you from unlocking it from a service provider. Flashing a ROM will not change the IMEI.

Softbank 001DL (DELL STREAK japan) Unlocked

I have a softbank 001DL (DELL sTREAK JApan Version) with froyo 2.2. By flashing ROM with OEM version GAUSB1A134500 and with www.unlockstreak.com unlock code, my phone is now UNLOCKED.. Thank you unlockstreak.com. It has the best tech support..
I dont suppose you have a nandroid of the softbank rom before you updated right?
Could you teach the procedure?
When the unlock code is put, it is ..movement.. lost like a white screen.
Should I replace ROM before input by codes of Unlock?
I am speaking with the person at unlock streak.
He gave me this PDF http://www.downloads.unlockstreak.com/how-to-flash-softbank-dell-streak-to-enter-the-unlock-code.pdf
In theory this should all work but I am stuck now. I booted into fastboot installed clock work but the phone will not boot up it get stuck on the softbank logo.
If I hold the volume buttons and power down and choose option 2 i can get into the clockwork recovery mode.
I am running GAUSB1A134412-US (Softbank) or at least I was before this all started. I am VERY new on this.
I need a ROM to install. I would prefer an OEM 2.2 that will actually ask me for the unlock PIN that I paid for
I have talked to many "unlockers" online and no one seems to have an answer.
PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS ROM INSTALLED!!! Or at least help me get it back to working order so I can sell it off and just buy a factory unlocked phone.
When I install any ROMS from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak#Official
I get Unable to Open (BAD) error
also if I try and reset factory settings in clockwork it "cant find a file" and said it failed to do that also.
Try using streakmod instead of clockwork,
if you're still on 344 could you make a nandroid before continuing?

The file has been deleted because the unlock software from www.unlockstreak.com unlocks Dell Streak from Softbank Japan now via "direct unlock". This means that it enters the code automatically and you don't need to insert a non-Softbank SIM card anymore.
I bought unlock code from unlockstreak dot com
I try unlocking many times but without success..
When I stuck at 70%, I started new instance of unlock program without closing the previous program. The new instance unlock the phone at the end!
(I flashing without battery)

HTCDev bootloader unlock - don't do it

UPDATE: The HTC Developers official unlock does not seem to allow the flashing of most, possibly all custom ROMs. The best advice is to re-lock the bootloader using the official tool, and then use the Advanced Ace Hack Kit to root and S-OFF your phone.
I've seen quite a few threads in Q&A recently where people have used the official bootloader unlock at the HTCDev website, then tried to flash a custom ROM and got stuck. The most common problem seems to be that they get stuck in the bootloader, or they flash a ROM but it hangs at the splash screen.
The best advice so far seems to be to flash a stock ROM, re-lock the bootloader, and then use the Advanced Ace Hack Kit to get S-OFF and root in the "usual" way. However one poor guy couldn't even get that far and ended up sending his phone off to HTC, although I think he tried running the AAHK without re-locking his bootloader first.
I'm not an expert on what the official unlock does and how it differs from our usual S-OFF methods. The HTC website indicates that their unlock lifts security on the boot, recovery and system images, but not on radio or sim-locks. To me that sounds enough to flash a custom ROM, but I'm not an expert and clearly a lot of people are having trouble.
I think it might be helpful to have a warning here on the DHD forums - if you want to unlock your phone, use the AAHK or any of the similar tools here. Don't use the HTCDev unlock method - at least until we better understand what's causing people these problems.
If anyone understands the technical differences between the HTC tool and the Radio S-OFF methods, or what's causing people to have these problems, please explain here so we can all understand it better! I'm slightly worried when trying to help people with advice, because if I get it wrong I might make things worse for them. And I don't really want to use the HTCDev tool myself to experiment.
If the HTC unlock itself is fine, but people are doing something wrong after using it, then perhaps once we know what that is, it can be put in a sticky? Or if the best advice is to avoid the HTC unlock method altogether, perhaps that should be stickied instead? (Or is there already a warning up that I've missed?)
It would be good if we as a community could come up with some clear advice, and maybe save people a lot of stress and hassle.
Yes, as a clueless person I would really welcome any expert guidance on this, I want to install other ROMs and if I can do it via 'official' methods all the better.
I experienced this exact same problem. I was expecting that unlocking meant getting root access but obviously this was not not the case so then I used the Ace Hack Kit which got stuck at flashing the ROM for downgrade. It showed the message in a quick flash (I had to record the screen it to see it) stating that the zip file content was not correct. Luckily the guys at the IRC help channel pointed me directly to the cause... the bootloader was unlocked and re-locking it would solve it.
Unfortunately the 'fastboot oem lock' method did not work right away. I re-installed HTC-sync (removed it before according Ace guide) and this got it working again so that I could re-lock. After this the whole Ace procedure worked fine and I now have root.
My advise would be to at least include a line on re-locking before start in the EFFEN manual and ensure that HTC-sync is installed for the relock (and remove it afterwards of course)
Thanks pamarama, that's exactly the kind of info I was hoping for regarding HTC Sync.
Do you know if AAHK also requires a working ROM on the phone before you start?
Some people don't have a working ROM, so I've been recommending that as well as re-locking the bootloader, they flash an RUU so there's a bootable ROM on the phone before they try AAHK.
Hi preacher65,
I honestly don't know if a working rom is required. I guess that the AAHK experts would be able to answer this question. I had a working rom at least but I can imagine that in order to do the downgrade the only thing that needs to be intact is the data that triggers AAHK to do the downgrade. If that flash succeeds you should have a working rom again.
From reading other threads, what I think the issue is that one simply can't install a rom. After flashing a rom one has to install a new boot image to actually get it to boot
The problem with HTC Dev unlock is that it doesn't allow boot.img to be flashed in any mode other than fastboot.
You can flash a custom rom, but then have to extract the boot.img from the zip and flash it via fastboot. Thats why everyone gets stuck on splash screen.

Thanks - I think you might need a working, rooted ROM to get SHIP S-OFF. At least you did in the days before the AAHK. Not sure if that works any differently. I'll check the manual to see if explains how it works.

Thanks, I think you're right. The HTC unlock says it unlocks the boot image, but it does seem as if people aren't able to flash a boot image as part of the ROM. Possibly due to most ROMs having custom kernels, perhaps?
I believe that all the developer opened firmwares still have restrictions in place, someone correct me if I'm wrong but that is generally what happens when a hardware manufacturer releases an unlocked bootloader. Your best bet is to use the Advanced Ace Hack kit then use Android Terminal Emulator to flash your bootloader with the ENG S-OFF version. Then you have complete control and freedom in your device.
I would type up all the specifics but there are many guides on the subjects above.

Thanks, I'm sure you're right. What I'm really trying to find out is what those specific restrictions are - or failing that, just come up with a solid, workable solution for those people who have already tried the HTC unlock and are now stuck.
So far the solution seems to be to re-lock the bootloader and then use the AAHK. But some people I've tried to help in Q&A have been unable to flash a PD98IMG.zip or RUU, even after re-locking, to get a stock ROM back on their phone so they could run the Hack Kit.
FWIW my own phone was rooted over a year ago, using Visionary and running sfjuocekr's scripts inside Android Terminal Emulator to fhash hboot and CWM manually from the command line. Which is why I'm not very familiar with what the AAHK needs to run, but I assume it needs a working ROM to get Radio S-OFF.
