new to the lenovo tablet game, came from acer a500.
picked up a brand new k1 32 gig black for $150. now how do i root and install ICS? this 3.2.1 is yucky!!!!
thanks guys
okay so it was amazingly simply to upgrade from honeycomb to ICS, took about 5 minutes of research. now rooting is the next step. still looking for that root..
ok, well that didn't take long to install ICS with CWM and root. damn this lenovo is so much easier than the acer a500.
this device is pretty nice. the back plastic is bugging me tho. will get a nice case for it.
It is a really good tablet! As far as cases go I got a nice one off amazon for bout $20.
Enjoy!

is there a kernel to overclock the rooted ICS version?
I haven't seen one. I know krook1's CM10 ROM will have overclocking in V5

There's a kernel over at Krook's jb CM10 thread.
Where did you get that tablet for that price?

well, Singapore is selling it at SGD399 now. just started yesterday. i bought mine already
They are dropping in price I think, £150 in UK previously £210+
I got mine for $300 in Jan

it should be, because they have a new one coming up soon i guess. thats why they want to clear stock
Good choice mate. There are already two great guys working on Jellybean Roms for your tablet. It's a nice machine, but it's creator stopped supporting it. God bless Khanning and Krook for their work.

Wow what a price drop, if I had the choice now at this price I think I would have went for the xoom.

When I was looking at tabs I wanted the xoom the most, i came across an iconia at a good price and couldn't pass it up.
Since then the only thing I've wanted for the iconia is more development support.
After some tweaking it runs much better and looks better.

Try one of the custom Roms on and you will not be sorry about it.
I'm currently using FGuy's Falcon galaxy, and its awesome. It's based on Acer's stock rom with Galaxy Tab's UX interface. It's fun to have a Iconia with so much of indeginous developers on this and many other forums.
Like the title says, many devices are starting to get ICS, while this Google I/O Tab 10.1 is still stuck at 3.1. Will we ever get 3.2 or even ICS.
Cant believe they just abandoned this thing.
Might move to the transformer and never come back.
Any thoughts?

Officially...yes
But you can flash any custom rom that is meant for the wifi only version if the tab and it will work fine...even the touchwiz ones
Officially? Did they say something?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
yes they did, use google you'll get an official statement...
in Canada, the 3.2 update was received not much ago, while the others had it a while ago. we'll most likely get the update after ICS...

Oops...sorry for the misunderstanding...I meant no...not officially..but you can flash a custom tom...they're pretty nice.
I've decided I'm going to sell this thing. Better get the Transformer Prime.
Am I missing something? As far as I know there has already been an official statement from samsung that ICS will come in the next months.
I bought this tablet just a month ago and my laptop hasn't been used since.
It is rooted but still on stock 3.2 honeycomb wich is working great.

Sure, but if you're only going to use official ROMs, no need to be on XDA. XDA is for folks who use custom ROMs; we honestly don't care what the official firmwares do (except when we need the proprietary drivers for the camera.... ahem...).
You were at Google IO and are complaining about waiting for official updates? People there were rooting the tabs during sessions and the roms came quickly after that. It was free and little was said from them about supporting it during or after the event.
I would abandon mine for a quad core Sammy with the Wacom digitizer in the Note but until then I'll just keep flashing.

For all the aggrivation and problems ive had with the tf101, $150 is too much. I'd spend three times that amount to get a working device.

LOL. Yeah, it's like giving someone a curse. Such a shame too. Asus could have made this situation a lot better.
My Transformer was rock solid till I got greedy and wanted ICS on it. ICS on Transformer has been a nightmare.
That said I love this tablet when it works, it get's used and abused every day.
Just ordered a Nexus 7 yesterday though, gonna see how the 7 inch form factor works out for me. Still Asus made, so I have fingers crossed.
O.

Yep, I feel like ASUS owe me and everyone else with the problems, some sort of partial refund at least. It's not like a laptop where you could install a different OS until they sort their stuff out.
Because of asus' incompetency, it has now been useless longer than it has been stable, imo that is not acceptable and if I could be bothered I would fight for a full refund and be done with them.
Since ICS, the tablet has sat unused the majority of the time because of the sheer number of bugs making it a chore to use rather than an enjoyment.
And what irritates me is all the feedback on the problems people on their FB page give, and asus completely ignore it and post childish "Happy Friday" etc comments as if they are some silly little school girl talking to her little friends
Company has gone from top 3 to never again for me
Is this problem only on the Tf101 with ics or on all the other ones as well?

I'm completely stock, and un-rooted. I have zero issues, and I use my tablet all day long. I also have about 100 apps installed. I had some minor issues on the initial ICS release, but they are long gone. If I had a fraction of the issues being reported, I'd have "eBayed" my TF a long time ago, or installed a custom ROM.

Great for me
hy there,
firstly in my country the transformer 16gb wifi still sels for about 300 usd - used not in a store. at the price you got it... i would buy another.
about problems.... mine is rooted and using revolution hd rom. no issues with it and it is used daily.
also i have the dock and it helps me with the transition from my laptop.
Megatron 1.1.6, Guevor Test kernel, dual booting Ubuntu (loopmounted) and I can say I've had zero problems since Guevor Test 15 or so, its a wonderful device if you get off the stock train. I'm currently selling mine on ebay for $360 with the dock, but only because I really need the money.
Lenovo has launched 2 new tablets, the 2107 & the 2109
the 2107 is a dual sim, 3G 7 inch tablet running ICS. its very good for the price tag and fairs well in full time daily use.
i've bought one last week but can't find any root / roms for it.
is there a chance to see the tablet on xda anytime soon?

The update was the 4.0.3 that's ice cream sandwich not jelly bean.
The a2109 got the jelly bean update.

That really sucks the a2107 needs jellybean. It would be much better but lenovo only cares about themselves. If it has jelly bean it would compete with the nexus 7. After all the a2107 lacks aquad cor tegra 3 processor and jellybean. Anyone want to add to the list? Don't get me wrong its a great tablet (I got it for Christmas)

Hum... I've bought this tablet in Spain, and it's working ok. It fits my pocket and is able to connect to my company's VPN, so, ok. But i'm missing a pair of functions:
1) phone app. The com.android.phone doesn't exists. Is there any way to install it so i can make and receive calls with the device. Of course using headset, it's ridiculous having a 7'' device next to ear.... It will be useful for avoiding the need of carrying a mobile to attend duty calls and the tablet for connections... it would be enough with 1 device (tablet)
2) Radio; sometimes i'm just making a trip and i'd like to listen the soccer's match, or something. if tablet has the FM chip, why should i use the data connection just to retrieve a radio stream? I mean, it's on the air, there's no need to spend bandwidth (and potentially money, if my quote is exceeded) yto hear it.
They both are optional things, but comfortable things. I woud like to do it without rooting tab (so NO CWM, nor custom ROM), so guarantee is still working. So... any APK or so?
Notes: I've tried some Play store's apps for the radio, but they aren't working
Thanks in advance
right!
Tomorrow will arrive my a2107-h and i will try some downloaded roms, i think almost one can enable radio and voice call, i's all we need, this power is lost inside!
Last update give no help to the radio module? all site speak about an internal antenna...
I'd try the tablet out for a week before you do anything, the sound suck's with headphones on. I returned mine after 2 weeks i couldn't take the crappy wifi issues and YouTube buffering constantly and the forcloses cause of low ram. I spent extra and got a nexus 7, glad i did.
