Your ROM may be affected. Please make sure everyone knows. There is a link in the above website to test if your ROM is affected.
Note to DEV's, can you please update your ROM's to fix this exploit. Thanks
(I unfortunately have less than 10 posts, and therefore can actually post that link^, sorry for the inconvience guys =/)
PS
The ROM I'm using is affected. (mimicry 1.5)
ice cream sensewich is affected too, just a heads up
oh, btw, jut install dialer one, then when it happens, it doesnt dial, but asks you to open it with what program, so you can cancel
In the meantime, use the following app to protect you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gicode.android.autoresetblocker

Hm... I'm on JB 103. When I visit that site I see *#06# in my dialer, not my IMEI number. According to multiple sources, a phone is vulnerable only if the IMEI number appears, not the service code. So you guys are all seeing your IMEI numbers?

Yes, after clicking the link, it imediately shows the phones IMEI. So basically it goes around you click call button with that code on your screen.
Interesting. I wonder why mine's not vulnerable.
it also depends on the browser, stock i can see it, opera i can not.
also if you have anything like lookout or a similar app installed it may keep you protected
Stock browser: yes.
Security app: only LBE Privacy Guard. But I've allowed the system apps to keep all their default permissions, so the phone app shouldn't be affected.
So it's just the media being B.S. with the SGS III and Samsung? They're only talking about that... If I weren't a frequent visitor of XDA, my phone might be f**ked up at some point....
I can see the IMEI no. Just install the app to prevent other problem. Btw, im on GB.

Hello,
So tomorrow i am buying a used galaxy S. The owner says that it has some imei issue and you have to copy a folder everytime you reboot the device to get network signals. So is this problem fixable?
Secondly, what are the other things that i should check before buying? How to confirm its pure i9000 and not galaxy s M or L?
You could do a search of "restore imei" to find some more info. To check which device you have, go to settings/about phone/model number. Good luck
S.U.R.F.A.C.E 2.something
If it has imei issues I would be very wary of it, unless you know the bloke very well and he can prove phone history, it sounds hot to me, just my pennys worth

What other things should i check?
Sent from my Galaxy ace using Tapatalk
Turn off the phone. Then switch it on. Make some calls, send / get sms. Check few other apps, wifi connectivity etc. But if it has IMEI issues, that would mean there was a bad flash. Better ask seller to come clean on that.
Yeah he says bad flash. But question is that is this problem fixable??? How to check if battery orignal?
Sent from my Galaxy ace using Tapatalk
I saw over in the post for Juwe's Rom that some users lost their IMEI after a flash and he has instructions on how to rectify it but +1 to slaphead20 about being careful. If a deal sounds too good to be true it usually is....
IMEI gets corrupted through /efs. See this thread on restoring /efs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859914&highlight=restore+efs
If a backup is available, it can be fixed.
Also check it will go into download mode, and be aware there is a universal imei number that is used by crims to fool people, I can't remember what it ends with tho, just beware

When posting a problem you have with your phone and finding a solution, it is polite to tell how it was fixed, just so that if others have the same problem in the future, they might be able to fix it with your solution.

Was on WW.26 and OTA to WW.29 came up this morning.
Device Tracker now recognizes my SN as valid, so I think Unlocker should work now too.
I downgraded to DE.17 again (using Wolfs method) to get root but now there's no OTA to WW.26 coming up ( Maybee they save the last firmware state of the device beside our SN too.
Will try to manually update to WW.26 again and see if OTA to WW.29 comes up again.
If not, I think I'll unlock it too
Im confused....

No, unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty, but rooting won't because you can easily unroot.
wait, so what is there to rejoice about then? I dont get what the OP is talking about in this thread
Ever since the tablet was released, some people haven't been able to get OTA updates on stock, locked tablets, and entering the serial number in devicetracker.asus.com resulted in a message that the serial number was invalid. A lot of these same people tried to unlock their tablets but got a network error. The problem was that their serial numbers were not listed in Asus' database.
The OP is rejoicing because the previously-undocumented serials have finally been added to Asus' database, so now the people having problems, of which the OP was one, are now able to get OTA updates and to unlock their tablets.
Rejoice!

I have called them about 5 times now. I explain I'm not getting OTA's at all because I don't want them to use the unlock tool as an excuse not to help me. They sometimes go as far as to tell me I'm up to date because I'm on ICS. I tell them my firmware version and they say "Oh that doesn't matter." I don't even know what to do now...

take as an excuse of inexistent problems with apps, that they close suddendly, that the system is not stable, and that you don't want to factory reset, then tell them that a friend of yours that had similar problem solved when he got the OTA update.

That's what I've been doing, I told them I had all the same problems as the c4 people and mine wasn't fixed because it's c3. They keep telling me to manually update. I mentioned wanting to unlock my bootloader once and I said I knew it wouldn't work if I couldn't get OTAs. He actually seemed to understand and scheduled me for a callback but the guy that called back was worthless
Anyone else try to register their Google Edition S4 with Samsung? They were offering 50% off accessories if you do.
Check: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/06/1...e-and-receive-a-50-off-accessory-coupon-code/
When I try to register it just keeps asking me to enter my serial number and purchase date. It never actually lets me register. I was hoping to get the wireless charging back at $20 instead of $40, but that won't happen if this keeps up.

Lol people have made full dumps. A dump doesn't equal a ROM. Please, try applying an ota for a gt-I9505g on your phone (you won't even get them in the first place I don't think). Let me know if your phone is suitable to do anything but hold down papers afterwards (until you Odin/ JTAG whatever)
Once we get partition mapping straight a full conversion would be nice though.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
i think thats the point, we all want someone to upload the whole thing so devs can do the tricky stuff like partition sizes and such.
Most folks on here are not rom developers but normal folk with a fasciation for modding there phones, that all. No need to get all high and mighty about it...
Following up on the registration issue, I tried again today. The product selection has changed and now recognizes it as the Google Play Edition - but it still refuses to accept the serial number and purchase date.
I tried to enter a support chat to figure out why but was promptly told they are not yet trained to support the GPE and gave me some other number to call. I'm not sure how that is relevant to their website not letting me register it, but whatever.

A discussion about the root tool the original poster posted a link for has been going on in this forum since 12 Sep 2013. Read thread titled [ROOT] SGP312 FTF 10.3.1.C.0.136 Root (No need OTA). Several people have said they successfully gained root access using the tool. Also read threads titled Root for SGP311/10.3.1.C.0.136? beginning at post 14, and [ROOT][SHARE] VRoot 1.6.0.3690 - 1-Click Root Method - Lenovo A706, Walkman F800 etc.

How does being suspicious about a root exploit that popped up on a Chinese site overnight make me blame Chinese hackers for all my problems as normal? I don't blame the Chinese for anything, I would be suspicious of this no matter where it popped up if they went about releasing it the same way. It is always good to be suspicious about root exploits and to look into it instead of just going with it.
You need to take a chill pill and understand that not everyone is badmouthing people all the time, when they posted a warning to ,make people think before they just went with a root exploit and to double check that nothing malicious is being injected along with it.
