So I have my N7 rooted, installed with cwm, and when I try to install CM10 Nightly's I always get the problem of sitting at the same boot screen and never making it past that... Is there any problems?
Other Information: I reset to stock a couple of times due to this problem....

Do you wipe data and cache before trying to boot CM10 for the first time?

Well I've used CM10 before M1 was announced, and then it worked, but now it doesn't. (After M1 Release)
Should I try flashing through CMD in Windows instead? I tried it through Recovery Mode before and it gave me the same result...
Kind of at loss here because I really wanted to try the M1 releases but they won't flash properly...
Sry almost forgot about your question....
I did do a data wipe and same for cache, and even tried Dalvik, but I'll give it another shot as I haven't done them all at once yet.
I'll post the results....

Long story short...
I wiped all three options (Wide Data, Wide Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache) and it worked
I feel stupid (and a lot like a noob...)

Hi my friend has the defy and has been sent a replacement by Tmobile as original was faulty. It has come back with 2.3.3 on it and its so much slower now. My question is will rooting it and instaling cm9 etc speed it up a lot?

Hey
If he wants a system that runs very stable and also smooth, he should give CM7 a try.
I wouldnt recommend CM9 since its death on the defy.
CM10 has come to a point where its very usable, ive been using it in the past weeks and i had not a single problem with it
Thanks for the reply dude. Iv rooted with super one click but everytime I try flash CWM I get stuck in boot loops any idea? I use RDS to go back to start again and keep trying but same old carry on

Hope that you're wiping data, cache and dalvik cache after flashing via CWM.
I can't get cwm to install aha I'm going to try 2ndint apk
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Yup. You need to install 2ndinit to get CWM onto a stock ROM.
Just like its says. I even backed up stock ROM and now getting fc's on July plus

No need to start a second thread for this... I'll say it again, have you wiped data in between ROMs? Or what are you doing after installing the ROM if you've wiped it?

Make sure to wipe everything before installing a new ROM, then run fix permissions (advanced options in CWM recovery) from either your recovery or from ROM Manager. After reinstalling all your apps and settings, make sure to fix permissions again.
Wipe system before you install your ROM, in addition to wiping cache, dalvik, data. If you do it right it will work

Typically unnecessary, as it its generally wiped during the install process.

I like to be sure, and I haven't had any problems installing ROMs on my N7, and I've flashed pretty much every one there is, kernels too. There have been ROMs that liked to be flashed 3 times for no real reason, so I say its good practice to manually format partitions, caches etc yourself, even if it's supposed to be done on install. If I do it manually, I know that it has been done

Hey guys I have recently rooted my Nexus 4 and left the stock rom on it. Now a few days later I am experiencing issues mainly with apps that change settings, like juicedefender or a cpu speed app.
I have done some research and according to juicedefender error log it shows I need to have busybox or I should have CyanogenMod.
Ok i hav 3 questions
1. Will installing busy box cause me to lose any data?
2. I know installing CyanogenMod ROM will clear all my data is there a way for me to backup need for speed and bad piggies?
3. Is there a way for me to keep my stock rom and fix these problems?

Since you're rooted all you need to do for backups is download Titanium Backup and use that to keep all of your data.
Alright im a noob at all this any idea if i should get cm nightly, stable or whatever version ? And if i go with release candidate can i change it to nightly in the future?

You will probably want to start with a stable release before jumping into a nightly. Nightly build aren't really known for stability.

To update cm all you need to do is download new rom, boot to recovery, flash rom and gapps, wipe cache, reboot. Of course this only applies if the rom base hasn't changed, which is infrequent.

If you are going to flash cm for the first time a wipe is required. Usually wipes aren't required when flashing a newer version of a Rom.
But will it wipe data automatically? No. Wiping data is an option you have to confirm in recovery.
Is that what you are asking?

Thanks thanks i will be flashing cm soon, thx so much yall. Sent a donation to mskip for making it so easy to do all this.

You could probably use adb to side load a ROM and gapps, here's a example of how to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317986
Thanks mates, fixed it by wugfresh

For future reference, select factory reset, not wipe data.

Isnt factory reset, just wiping cache and dalvik? If yea, then dirty install isnt the best, depends on rom that im moving from.

factory reset wipes /cache, and /data (without wiping /data/media <--thats where all your pictures and rom zips are stored)
factory reset is needed when moving between completely different ROMs (you can get away with dirty flashes between SOME roms, but its rare)
Oh yea yea, I didn't wipe the internal, something went wrong and the file was deleted, but gapps was there and all my data was there, anyways fixed and got the new nexus 7, enjoying it, much faster and better!

×—Hi all, I've successfully installed WajUI - a MIUI version for the defy+ on my friend's phone.
Everything works except for receiving calls. I don't know what I can do.
The error I get is."Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped"
Tried reboot, calling in different modes, etc. No use. But I can make calls, and I can see who called.
I tried cm slim but had no reception at all.
Tried MIUI v4 but no camera.
Help would be very appreciated..
attached is a screen shot of the Rom details. https://db.tt/BzSfALPH

Clean install (wiping system, data and cache) fixes all such strange issues

so just wipe data plus cache,
wipe dalvik, and install the ROM again?
