I kinda assumed we'd never have 7.8 what with lg's abandoning of wpthis seems to be a device with no followers for some reason, been rock solid for me, ware as most of my friends htc's get sent back for repairs for either screen or speaker, yet people love them
I'm sure we won't see any custom ROMs b/c we've never had them, and as the user base shrinks, so does the developer base this phone. However, as Telis12 has said the phone is rock solid, and I'm pretty confident we will see the official 7.8 since MS releases that directly, and since those updates can always be forced.

Well lets play a game you n me drop both of our phones together and lets see if the phone breaks or the floor..... tbh this is the best phone is ever had in my life..... solid, never let me down, good battery( compared to other wp).
well waiting for 7.8
Lg optimus 7 sucks, because it seems that every optimus 7 has the internal memory error. the gorilla glass isn't that gorilla, and mine is full of scratches like a normal lightweight screen. it has the poorest speaker, one of the poores cameras (no nightmode in video!!!!) and the poorest update.
its ****in heavy, and the screen quality seems to be worst than HTC. no standard formfactor and so on.
I think the only pro is the 16GB space. Screw LG screw Microsoft

strange, the lg I recieved has been the best phone i've ever had, had it just over a year know not a mark on the screen, infact the whole phone is almost scratchless, i've also spent 9 months with this phone working outside, do not use screen protectors/phone covers and have dropped it on concrete quite a bit and still works perfect, think you just got a dud
Windows Phone 7.8
On a site Asiato, unofficial tallies say that windows phone 7.8 will come in a few days, we hope for our LG
all I know is i'm not convinced LG will update the phones, LG poland have stated they won't be releasing an update, along with samsung
http://www.esphoneblog.com/2012/11/...-7-will-not-get-updated-to-windows-phone-7-8/
so far to me it just seems nokia is focused on supporting older handsets.
I just become the owner of a 920 the other day so and a little less annoyed than I was, however i'm giving the LG to a family member and hoped t would get updated, from what i've seen on the net it seems nokia will be relesing 7.8 within the next month, its a shame as I really like the LG device, I'll never buy from LG again tho
Microsoft will still push the update like they did for Tango, doesn't matter whether LG bother or not MS will do it.
LG Germany told me that they have no Updateplans at the moment until MS released the WP7.8 Update.
After that they will decide if they Support the update or not.
Well the site showed an update on the update (lol) yesterday. It looks promising. They are going to try and release 7.8 for as many devices as possible. Lets keep our fingers crossed!

Yea Optimus 7 is a great phone. It was my present for my girlfriend and she was and is still very happy about this.
But some people will always complain, sometimes for good reasons, and sometimes for other reasons.

Don't worry about the update Even LG doesn't know the date of realease, it'll be available for our phone, it an update from MS and than must send it to all phones. If they don't, I guess that we could update with the cab
I hope we do see the update to my old phone, it is a shame that LG didn't continue the WP support like they did at first, we were promised regular new apps in the LG store in the beginning, and I wish they had made an app to remote control my LG TV (there's one on android). But Smartshare DLNA works well to it.
Still, mine has been a good solid phone, no issue of screen scratches or memory errors here!
But mine will gather dust now for a while as my Lumia 920 is keeping me busy, and it looks like Nokia isn't going anywhere soon
Do not trust in LG customer support word
In the past, when I asked LG customer support for WP 7.5 they said "We don't have plans"... A week later, I received the update...

I don't really care who the manufacturer is for wp7. Updates will come from MS, the minimum specs pretty much guarantee it can't be garbage. Can uninstall anything back to stock. So who makes the phone is less of an issue than wm, or android imo.
you'll never lose support, so as long as the spec sheet looks nice, it's all game to me.
As an aside...they picked a better name than a lot of the other makers. Schubert, Mozart, Cetus, Trophy, and/or Random Letter + Numbers. Phones that do well tend to have a catchy name, eg: Razr, Droid, Blackjack, Sidekick. They have a certain cutting edge feel.
Yes, you'll get updates and because all WP7 devices are essentially all the same you shouldn't worry about drivers as well, but no amount of updates will help you when your phone will start looking like crap because of cheap materials and falling apart because of poor build quality.
pretty form factor but I hate how windows phone 7 phones have no physical call buttons. they still are phones right?

Any of you guys plan to get a new phone? With all the problems/issues i have with my Hero, I think it's time to get a new phone.
I'm waiting for the Nexus S, then I'll (sadly) sell my Hero...
I recentenly received a Htc Desire Z for my birthday and my mom says I need to sell it. But I don't want to because it has such good memories
I'm really considering the venue pro from dell and give W7 try. I'm not letting go android yet but W7 seems promissing.

I think W7 looks like the lamest OS for phones ever. the tiles concept in my opinion is ridiculously dull, typically windows though! I reckon id get bored of the orange (orange?!) tiles within a few days. especially after all the customisation ive been able to do with android

You can change the orange tiles you know? To answer the original post, i'll be getting either a Samsung omnia 7 or a desire hd next month. Most probably the omnia 7 though, just because I love how simplistic wp7 is and how its so different from all the other OS'.

I can guarantee that rooting your phone and loading a froyo rom will undoubtedly fix the bluetooth problem. I had the 2.1 official update until a few days back and then rooted and loaded the FroydVillain 1.6 rom. Previously I could pair with my Nokia BH-504 headphones, but when using them on a call they would hang due to a software incompatibility of the official ROM with the BT stack of the headphones.
Now they work perfectly. So will your car BT. I cannot be 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident on a 95%.
Your other problems with the phone are lag related. On Froyo the phone flies. No more lag, the Froydvillain rom has a overclock/underclock utility to ensure maximum performance with even better battery life. Trust me. Use it.
And if you have the 2.1 update then there is an almost 1-click root method on the villainrom.co.uk forum.
I wanted to get the Desire HD but because of the stock issues with carriers, just went to o2 and got my self a Htc HD 7 and just loving it
I havent used a windows phone before but i think Microsoft has done a decent job, although a software update will go long way with more apps in the market will help as well
guys the 4:3 inch screen phones are goody, dont even feel like using my comp any more.
I'm due to upgrade my GSM Hero on January 4th. I'll definitely miss it but I always like to get a new handset come upgrade time.
I'm currently torn between the Desire HD and Galaxy S, however both of them have issues that bother me. The main ones being:
Desire HD - Battery life is reported to be very poor. Speaker quality not great. Possibly a bit too big also. LCD screen not as good as Samsung AMOLED.
Galaxy S - No Sense UI. Suffers lag out the box (fixed with custom ROMs and tweaks). Also quite a platsicy phone compared to the HTCs I'm used to. Looks like an iPhone 3GS. Also, it doesn't bode well for Samsung when XDA members can fix things they themselves can't!
I'm almost tempted to wait it our for the new series of dual-core Android handsets like the LG Star / new Moto phone but I'm not sure if / when they will be released in the UK. The Galaxy S II and Nexus 2 are tempting too but again, it's a case of if / when they are released in the UK.
One thing is for sure though, I'll definitely be sticking with Android.

I was thinking of upgrading my Hero as well and was planning on getting the Nexus S but that has left me very underwhelmed so I'm not going to bother. There's nothing else out there that I'd be willing to spend my hard earned on.

Hi Guys,
After lots of fun with my Hero and the great ROMs that are around here made it more fun.
Today I became the proud owner of the Desire HD how great is this huge screen, and the speed. It makes the Hero look so obsolete!
Still this was my best phone ever! Androided and rooted for life thanks to my Hero.
Ofcourse going to root my Desire HD!
It seems as though the Desire HD is the upgrade of choice from the Hero.
Hopefully us Canadians will get a version that will support our 3G bands soon

Not sure what to do with this, maybe keep it and take it out when there's a chance I could lose/damage my phone, or sell it to envirofone or something for about £90 (which will also pay my early cancellation fee for Vodafone)
I've been interested in WP7 since it was first unveiled but I held off to see how things panned out. However, my current phone is in an awful state and really needs replacing so I'm thinking maybe it is time to jump ship and check out WP7. I'm really interested in the Omnia 7 and I can get one at a really decent price compared to other WP7 phones. Anyway, I was just wondering how people are getting on with the phone and the OS in general? Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated!
Hi there.
Well im still very happy with my Omnia 7, had it for 4 month now. The screen is insaine and with the 16gb version i have at least ok memory. I dare to say that this is the best phone i had. Existence should be pretty long also since the up coming patch Mango, vill accelerate the phone to max speed/potential. So for me buying it rather early, i expect to get a lot of milage on it and probebly a feeling of new phone again.
My friend have a LG Optimus 7 and with NoDo patch onboard, my Omnia smokes his phone in performance.
Now, is ALL good in happy land? Naa, not fully, there are 2 downers on it. Both are related to same problems, my Galaxy SII friend have it also so ita Samsung related accprding to me.
The problem is operator dependble. Here in Sweden Omnia 7 works great on all operators exept our biggest one. Again, my own words, the big one here have exclusives on the Edge network. And it seems Samsung phones have problems with that. So second and last issue is of internet that also gets affected to and gives slow internet loads and buffers.
In short...
Phone is great, the best of em...
Choose operator, or if you say carrier , carfully
Result = Stabile, fast wonderfull phone thats gone make you fall out the chair everytime you start a HD movie in 720p... cant be told. Experience it.
Only WP7 Phones that will be better then a Omnia 7, is probably Nokia. But there no Nokia phones untill Christmas Holidays, so if you cant wait. I higly recommend Omnia 7 above any phone on market.
Now, os wise? All i miss is copy/paste in to phone dialer, after mango there should be no missing for me. But darnit, im typing from my Omnia now and since i cant put it down, ever, my thumbs hurt. So somebody else will have to fill you in on OS experience. But think about choise of carrier and you wont be let down hardware wise. Its super smooth.
Best regards
Mr Nakazul
On my third omnia 7 currently! First two developed faults >.< When it works its a cracking phone!!! The screen is superb. But currently the whole nodo update malarkey is causing so much hasstle! Still on 7008. But this should all pass soon and I still highly recomend
Had mine since release in November and I can't complain about it really.
The only downside for me is the debacle with the updates. I've still not received the 7392 security update and MS have given no date to when Orange customers can expect it which is a bit of a farce.
The handset itself though is great. Gorgeous screen, solid construction, great camera. WP7 is fantastic as well, so responsive and intuitive.
The only other handset i'd look at currently would be the LG Optimus 7.

Agree with all of that , considering debranding to get Mango without a big delay
Im really happy with my Omnia 7 too.
I moved from HTC Touch HD with custom ROM to WP7, and so far do not regret it.
My phone also had a hardware fault, the screen went black after only 1 day.
Since Samsung repaired it (and luckily I got the lates ROM), it is working very reliable. When I got the phone back 2 weeks ago, I connected to Zune, and voila no problems updating to 7392 (I have a Telekom.de branded phone with 16GB).
I found replacements for almost all apps on the Touch HD, only a decent offline navigation app is missing. Navigon Select was preinstalled, but I am on T-Mobile AUSTRIA, so it won't work. Thats somehow stupid, but T-Mobile Austria isnt selling the Omnia 7, so this might be the reason.
I've never used an LG phone before. I've always had a Samsung. And it hasn't exactly disappointed me so far.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone "recommend" any LG phone. I'm only buying this one because of it's uber specs and it's ultra low price (I can't afford a phone of this stature otherwise). Also maybe because I need a new phone. I'm currently using the Galaxy 3 (not s3).
If I buy this phone I'm going to have to get it from the US through a relative or a friend. Which basically means no warranty. And it's LG. And its battery is non removable.
What are your views on this?
Also, can someone convince me to buy this phone?
LG makes great hardware, but ruins it with their software support. Moot point here, as Google brings the updates. It's a win-win
This phone looks to have a solid build. Reminds me of the Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch, pure metal black finish.
Sounds like you don't have any experience with LG handsets. They make good hardware according to most reviews I've seen.
Just because you've never heard anything about LG handsets doesn't mean they are crap. You should go to the store and check some out for yourself.

Why does no one give LG a chance. Everybody said they would never buy another Samsung phone. Look how that turned out. This will be a solidly built device (LG) with solidly done software(Google). It should be a no brainer from those standpoints.

The early indications are really good, hopefully it doesn't have any bugs that only come out after launch.
In China, LG is fine.
I can't believe you liked Samsung's quality. From their crappy phone days they've never made a solid looking phone. The only thing that prevented me from getting a Nexus earlier is that they were made by Samsung. I'll throw in my money and gamble with it.

Bugs will not be LG's fault
I'd only be worried about it if it weren't a nexus device. Every LG phone that's had problems has always been OS related from what I've seen and heard.
to be honest I am never going to buy samsung cause of ther crappy build body. I used note, S3, S2 and all of them had a crappy plastic body. Samsung doing it wrong look it your S2, S3 or Notes especially the body part, I am happy that google pick LG but I most expected Motorola

Bugs is the wrong word, I mean hardware faults, bad batches etc.
All devices will have some of those as well. Lg hw does not have a bad rep but every mass produced device has issues. The 7 had more than I can remember for a device in recent memory though.
The glass on the back will most likely by the thing everyone will complain about. Because it will break.
For example I think it was either Anand or Brian's iPhone 5 that actually had the screen separated from the device. He pushed it back in and it clipped in place. Later it came off again.
I have a reason to be skeptical about another lg phone. As a previous owner of an lg g2x, I was not happy with it. And yes the lg g2x was a Google phone with pure android and it sucked, lg support for it was horrible.

Indeed, and as far as i know it wasn't even stock android, atleast the european version weren't.
LG = Decent hardware, wank software support.
Since Google are dealing with the software, this should be pretty good.
in my country, this phone will have 0 resale price.. why?
coz its from lg..
and arabs are dumb enough to pay 1300$ for an iphone 5 they dun even know how to use..
on the bright side, my first lg jus got sold for this phone.. software sucked with locked bootloader..
but build quality was AMAZING
even better than my evo3d
LG makes good quality hardware, but the software isnt great and the ui lg uses is like using touchwiz 3.
But as software is handled by google, im willing to buy this one!

I bought this device because it was overall very good in all the reviews I read. I read that the charger that came with it didnt support Quick Charge 2.0. That was the first dissapointment. When i received it, it was running Android 6.0. I did an OTA check and no updates were available. I decided to download Lg Bridge and i finally found one update. I bought this device on one condition, to avoid LG UX 4.0. And guess what, my phone was part of an ever growing crowd of people who didnt have the eu bootloader! I felt like I was smacked in the face. I searched the internet for more info and my fears were confirmed. Ever since that i vowed to never buy from LG again. Android is about Freedom and there is none of that on the LG G4. European market bias confirmed:crying:. Months after the discovery I had witnessed the scariest thing ever, I was listening to some music with my LG earphones plugged in. And suddenly i couldnt wake the damned thing anymore but when i touched the screen i could hear typing sounds, I had to pull the battery out. The battery life on the thing was mediocre at best, the screen never lived up the my expectations, the phone gets dangerously hot when i use snapchat. The only thing going for the LG G4 is its camera which was probably the best in 2015. I simply cannot stand the lag on the phone anymore and I am searching for other phones. Im not that kind of person who spends 600 euros on a phone. Then the Oneplus 3 showed and for 400 euro i get a phone 2 times as powerful, dash charging, an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER and a premium design. Whats more Oneplus actually tries to fix its phones and released tons of fxes for the OP2. Im pretty sure the phone will get Android Nougat even if it takes a while(after witnessing what speedy updates meant on the LG G4 I would prefer slow and steady progress). The only thing the oneplus loses in is the camera department which will improve. Im tempted to wait for the 2016 Nexuses as they will have the best Android experience as well as support for Daydream vr. Ive also checked out the ugly zenfone 3 deluxe which will cost much more than 400 euro. The Axon 7 is also tempting but im not sure if the 6gb version will come out for Europe, the bootloader seems to be locked for now(news next week on whether it will be unlocked) So guys should i wait for the more expensive Nexus by HTC or look out for the OP3 and Axon 7?
You're not alone.
After a year of using it
Pro:
- Battery life, yes it last more than one day, and never need the 2nd battery
- Camera, I am not a pro, but keep getting compliment saying the photos are awesome
- Screen, I have no complaint, but nowaday a lot of high-end phone gets 1440p screen
- Quick eMMC speed and SD support
Cons:
- Still no unlocked BOOTLOADER!
- ****ty OS
- SLOW CPU nowaday
- Poor Wifi (50% vs my iPAD air 2 full bar)
- Very poor resale value
- Leather gets dirty quickly and expensive to replace
Verdict: The camera is holding me from getting another phone. It will be either Note7, Nexus 2016, or iPhone7.
I do not agree with some things here. The leather is not getting dirty fast at all except if you are not careful enough. I have the phone since February and the leather is like day one. I do agree that those covers are too expensive. The phone gets warm but so do many others with Snapdragons. Only my S6 and iPhone does not get very warm. It's a common issue with Android phones due to their hardware. The latest Snapdragons tend getting warmer than other chips. My 6P was getting very warm too. Metal is good for cooling during winter but during summer it absorbs the surrounding heat faster than other materials. The battery life is OK. Just OK nothing outstanding. I get 3 to 4h SoT indoors with WiFi and 1 to 2h SoT outside with 4G. The screen of G4 is 1440p except if I didn't understand correctly what you wrote. It's like you implied that the G4 has no QHD screen which is wrong. Overall the phone is one of the snappiest and lag free I ever had. It definitely feels more snappy than the 6P which shocked me when I bought it. The UX is OK. I find it a bit ugly and uninspired. It misses some options and features. Like settings search. The only thing that bothers me with this phone is the Bootloop issue and the absence of fingerprint reader. I will never buy OnePlus though. No official service centres in many countries and very slow Android updates. Look when they got Marshmallow. Their OS is buggy as hell. Also I will never again trust a phone with an OLED panel except from Samsung's. All non Samaung phones that have OLED tend to have weak and lower quality panels which are bad optimised. My guess is OEMs order lower grade OLED panels from Samsung to cut costs. G4 has one of the best screens I ever had. G4 and my older S6. I live in a sunny country and I had problems with many phones which were absolutely not visible during the day. For the price it is still one very good phone. Now it's dirty cheap. LG just lost their Mojo. They are trying too hard to innovate and do crazy things and lost the basics in the process.

Same, start on Apple, screw them to hell
Next, got LG, stared good, now it sucks
Moving to Samsung!
I was always trash talking sony, after buying this one I feel bad for that. I did not even know i bought a dual version until i got it :c
Now there is no unlock/root for me (bye-bye dualshock, drivedroid etc). Buy cheap, buy twice.
After a year or so, my main issue is the weak SoC.
It is really showing its age (weaker overall than 2 years old Snapdragon 805). I'm not even playing games, but using the likes of Google Photos takes its toll on the CPU and the battery drains fast.
Sometimes, it struggles to keep up with daily tasks (Google Maps, instant messaging apps, web browser, Strava, camera) : laggy, overheating.
Looking forward to the V20.

V20 attracts me too, but G4 is a great phone. Unfortunately, the battery is bad, but

Only updates should come more often.

Jesus people, stop crying and make a reaserch before you gonna buy a phone. This kind of posts are on every phone forum, every single one, G4 is my 11th Android phone, I had Motorola, Sony, OPO2, OPPO, Samsung and on each forum I've seen countless posts like this. FYI - LG is a first phone that I really like after one year of using, just before I bought it I have read about unlocking bootloader, root, etc and chose it after some reaserch.

I bought this device because it was overall very good in all the reviews I read. I read that the charger that came with it didnt support Quick Charge 2.0. That was the first dissapointment. When i received it, it was running 6.0. Ever since that i vowed to never buy from LG again. is about Freedom and there is none of that on the LG G4. European market bias confirmed:crying:. not just that mine was dead in 2 days after an official update via lg bridge. i am a poor man ... i hope lg make things right but i dont think i can afford another until i am a grand grand parent...
i have seen few htc with my friends htc m8 ithink they were they had a solid build quality and never gave a problem to them all 3 of them running cynogen i bet quality wise htc or samsung are best Huawie and chinese phones are not attrctive but have solid build quality i knw this for sure
I'm done with LG as well. I wonder if anyone from LG reads REAL communities and learn from this? Mine is battery life, while some get good life, mine is at 50% by noon and I start at 9 am, so that's not saying a lot for this phone. Of course the locked bootloader, but even more than the lock, their OS is just abysmal, why, just why?
I can't wait until the Zenfone 3 Deluxe shows up in Canada.

Oh dude, so here is what your NOT UNDERSTANDING. The H812 (Canadian Version) came shipped with Android 5.1. It DID NOT have a locked bootloader. Then one day in February we got the Magical Unicorn also knows as Marshmallow. Like many MANY other people, we updated the OTA because we just needed that battery improving upgrade, after-all Europe got this update 2 months before and are happily running the phone the way they see fit...Stock, Roms, Root, whatever. SURPRISE PHONE BOOTLOADER LOCKED UPON OTA. This has nothing to do with the actual phone itself as a functioning electronic device, this has to do with LG's GIANT FK YOU Canada.

Sorry but your point is not valid, the sellers don't tell you if its the European bootloader version or not.
I have the Singapore model so I'm stuck with what I have.

European reseller has no right to sell you Singapore version as warranty won't be valid in Europe, if you referring to some eBay sellers then you can always ask about country origin.

There must be a way to restore the bootloader . I read on some post taht a guy used a ZTE software to rewrite all phone partitions and he modified IMEI and Device ID . He did not changed bootlaoder but I think there must be a way .I will look for that post and I will post here . He explained that his phone was switching mode and appeared in his Windows Device manager like a serial COM device and he had access to all phone partitions ,about 20-30 of them .

"The video below shows the researcher using his app to root an Android-powered HTC phone, which is connected to a computer by a USB cable. The first ID and su commands show that the device is unrooted. After running "moo"the name of the file containing the exploit codeand then running the su and ID commands again, it's clear that the device has been rooted."

I had LG G4 for 1 year and a half, i was tierd of waiting for software fixes, Android 7 etc... The phone got worse day by day, even after factory reset. On 31 December i have switched to Moto Z, 2 days ago i got Android 7 via OTA, the phone is flowless and the camera is slightly better then G4, also the battery life is better, and dont forget that you can add modules. I will buy the Incipio pack with 2220mAh. Just read the reviews.
