Stock nexus 7 stuck on boot screen. It was charging and turned off. It wouldn't turn back on. It finally turned back on but is stuck at the colored x.
It has never been rooted or unlocked.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you get into Recovery? Try a factory reset.
Factory reset worked.

This same thing just happened to me!
So frustrating! I was downloading a large game last night and plugged it in and went to sleep. When I got up it was off and I couldn't turn it back on. It froze on the Google logo. I tried holding power down to restart and same thing happened. Anyone know of a fix for this? I really don't wanna have to factory reset it. Btw its all stock, and not rooted or anything. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

I abandoned my X back.in March because of constant rebooting. It was the third refurbished that vzw sent me. Even from stock it would reboot. There was a large thread on the moto forum about it. I would like to reactivate it, just wondering if there had been a fix. Anyone?

Your best bet would be to SBF the device.

Ok, I SBF'd the phone. Now, instead of rebooting, the screen will go to sleep. When you press the power button, only the hard keys light up and do not go off. Eventually, the phone will shut down completely and need a battery pull. Any thoughts? I sbf'd with 2.3.340
Phone has not rebooted since the one incident. I think (fingers crossed) that the problem is solved.
Mine is still doing it, I just SBF'd to Liberty3v2 from rooted .621, wiped and formatted everything (I'm pretty sure), and I've still had a few reboots just since yesterday.
Any ideas? Any other threads I should check out?
Just got my n7 and the first thing that has happened to me when I go to watch a video or play a game the tab will freeze the screen will go white and then would reboot. I am on stock rom, not rooted and I have about 5gb free. I already called google for rma but it seems that the process is very slow. Is this a hardware problem ?

Mine never had a force reboot. It seems yours is faulty.
Try reinstalling the factory image
I would try that but I think its hardware now. When it crashes it does so in a similar matter to bsod on windows. The last sound would loop for a few seconds then reboot or turn off.

My girlfriends nexus won't turn on. She said the tablet randomly rebooted and got stuck on the boot screen. Now the tablet won't start. I charged it overnight and it won't turn on. I tried holding all the buttons in different combinations to try a hard reset but nothing happens. It's running fully stock. It's not even rooted.

Which version is it running?
Same thing happened to my sister's N7.....
If you can enter boot loader , then unlock it and flash either stock or CM. Otherwise u gotta call Google.
I think this is an issue with battery consumption and kernel. Cuz her battery had run dry and I think the OS failed to turn off properly which caused some kind of corruption! (Jus a guess so feel free to correct me)

The tablet is running 4.2.1 the tablet got the update but when I tried to update it I got an error message but that was days ago. I just hard reset it holding down the buttons.

My phone is constantly rebooting without actually turning off. It's lost connectivity to everything (mobile networks, wifi) as well.
I rooted my phone and then tried to install TWRM on it. I may have installed the wrong version, I'm not sure because I used FreeGee to do this.
My phone currently turns itself on, goes to the lock screen then stops responding after a little bit then reboots. I can't actually turn the thing off to put it into recovery or something.
**Edit:** Alright guys, I've got it into download mode and am trying to reset to stock using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

An about a month ago switched to 7.1.2 from 6.0.1.
Stock rooted version. The phone is one and a half years old.
Since then I'm having random freezes that only pressing the power button and reboot will help.
I can't figure out what causes these freezes.
Anybody else having this ?

Try a factory reset see if that helps really hard to say. Are you using substratum try removing overlays. If using custom kernel resore to stock. If it was me I would completely wipe my phone including internal. Then flash a fresh factory image to rule out any software related issues. Just make sure you back up all your pics etc.
I'm using stock kernel. The freezes are random. Can't figure out what triggers them.
The freeze can be while the phone connected to charger, lying on a table or when I on Facebook or something else...

There apps that you can get that will show you logs of what's going on in the background. Catlog or syslog are ones that I know of. They can be hard to understand but might give you some clues to what's going on. After the phone does it thing quickly check the log and see if any errors from apps and such that stand out.
