[Q] How to make a custom ROM for X8 ?

hi
I am a user of X8
I am very interested in making a custom ROM for my X8
Can anyone teach me?
cuz many of the posts said juz for HTC ROMs,
so is there a solution for making a X8 custom by ourselves?
see this link, thats the guide on building custom roms :
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compile_CyanogenMod_for_Hero
once u built the rom, take .zip file and flash with xRecovery ..
So if we build a custom froyo rom... Can we still flash it using xrecovery?
I just got my x8...and I'm still exploring stuff.
sorry if this is a noob question...
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Good ! It's a wiki for Ubuntu !
I may try on next week or the week after if I have the time.
But there are so many things I say the same...
can i use windows 7 for making custom rom??or just for ubuntu??

[Q] Need help to port a Gingerbread (2.3.3) ROM to HD2

Hi. I am keen to learn how to port a Gingerbread ROM which I like to HD2 and would appreciate if someone could advice or recommend me the place to start. The closest I found was in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898215 but someone mentioned that it is already outdated as the advice would only work with older android version.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
so u want to make your own android rom?

I am not sure if this is call making an android Rom ... what I want to know is if I see a good gingerbread rom from the HTC desire for example, how can I "cook" it for hd2?
Yeah I think u mean making, cooking a rom for HD2,not flashing it to HD2 ,right?
I think u need to put alot of time to make a good stable rom.that's y I prefer to download one and just flash it and see how it runs

Yes. I am not referring to flashing it but cooking it for hd2. I have already tried a couple of the custom Gingerbread Rom for hd2 but am not entirely satisfied so I decide to cook one for myself based on the other HTC handsets.
Aha I see,I'm using BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.3 RAM_V5 and so far it's great.
ppl also recommend this:
TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 RC2 v2.6.2 [2.3.3][A2SD][tytung r7]
but if u wanna make ur own rom ,if I'm not wrong u can find a Chief program easy to cook a rom for ur desires ,but I'm not 100 percent sure it's an entire rom or just the interface ,I never tried that, have a look at that.
Been using TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 rom on my device this rom updates very quickly

Here's how to port Sense 3.5 :-
The Guide
Take CM7 Madteam Edition as your base
Take HTC Explorer (Pico) deodexed rom as your ported rom. (Search it.)
Follow the instructions from the guide.
Compile/Modify a kernel to make it compatible with both CM7 and the ported Sense UI. (Don't ask me how ? , Google it).
Boom you're done
Thx Gamer R:good:
Hey lzimbrea,
You gotta make changes in the Ramdisk, if you are modifying any CM7 compatible kernel.
That's quite a tedious job. I think Merruk's Kernel will be better to modify. Please do ask Maroc-OS first.
Or
Try porting the ROM and run it with an UNMODIFIED kernel first.
Tried months ago kernel problem
First atempt
CWM show me error 4....
i google it but no results.
think is build.prop.
sense is more complicate to port
:fingers-crossed:

Seems like a kernel problem.
Extract the kernel, which you're using.
Edit the init.rc in the Ramdisk and compile it.
You could tally your init.rc from this port(Sense 2.1 - Galaxy Mini).
Atleast, it'll boot
first boot
today my phone boot !!!
but............
:crying:
touch wizz still present..
and a lot of htc app crashed !
how to fix it?
I don't get it. You did port using CM7 as base. SO HOW COME YOU STILL HAVE TOUCHWIZ ?

No, i use as base stock s5360 rom.
touch wizz remains from previously installed software.
i use even CM7 as base but the same result....
the installation process is to quick....
maybe the problem is in update_script

doubt between roms

hello ..
I tried several custom roms on my SGY, but many have bugs and other bad things ...
which rom you guys recommend me to put on my SGY (not like odex) (I like Deodex)
and also see people say that Stock Kernel which is bad recommend placing?
i'm noob!
all features have a proper explaination,
they are also available when you search in google,
stock kernel is fine and works really well,
there are just added features present in custom kernels,
there is a difference between odex and deodex (you can google that)
there is clearly no rom which is perfect without bugs...you can stick to stock if you want a bug free rom
For me. You should stick with your stock rom. But if you're a little techy and you want an os that is not compatible with our SGY, try out Custom Roms. I recommend Nemesis Rom hd v1.1. It has bugs but devs already have a solution. Just google it

I suppose you are not the marketing head of nemesis.
That rom is banned for a reason and you are not allowed to talk anything about it. It is not an os made compatible with our phone, it is indeed a themed version of stock rom.

most guys, including me, suggest stock rom.
may u can play with custom kernels, there's a lot here, and they are very good :good:
you said u'r noob, then no reason for you to like deodexed over odexed.
