So after just over 2 years, I think my HD2 has offered me all it can, and now I want to get a new phone. Only problem is, I dont know what to get! Ideally I would like to stick with WP7, but the manufacturer of the phone isn't too important. Camera, screensize(large) and battery life are the main features I am after. Really, I think the only contender is the HTC Titan, but I haven't really seen many others available. is there anything out now, or coming out soon that would be a good replacement? I was hoping the Nokia Ace might be coming soon, but i cant find any firm info
I've had my hd2 also for 2 years and just bought the Galaxy Nexus and haven't looked back. Awesome phone!!

Saw a Samsung galaxy note today..
I think this could be the successor for me..
Time will tell..
I like the 5.3'' screen a lot..
I fancy the ss note too,, but I'm waiting till summer and buy one outright once the price drops and the devs fully open it up. In the meantime I bought another hd2, (since I've been living with a cracked screen and no gps for 18 months since a drunken phone fumble, *cringe* )
samsung galaxy note i have also been looking at, along with the galaxy s 2. im liking the idea of wp7 on the galaxy note....
maybe
a Htc Sensation xl; 4,7 inch display and Sense..
Just go with WP7, 5 on the HD2!
It'll probably never be ported to the Samsung Galaxy Note, and or any other phone from the galaXy series

I currently have the galaxy note and it is the bomb, a few issues here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. Just looking for more development, but will take time. I remember when the hd2 was the same all there was was wm6.5 then a very shoddy sd Android build and now it's a living breathing machine capable of so much more.... The hd2 will ever be in my debt and I will never get rid of it. On that note I would like to give out massive respect and thanks to all developers and users in the hd2 forums that have helped over the last few years.
Gone but not forgotten.

Wish I hadn't sold mine when I got my release SGS2. Just for playing about with it was far and away the best phone ever. Technically it is clearly well behind now, but we are three years on so that is hardly a surprise
I see the rumoured htc edge is truly the only phone that comes close to being the true successor of the HD2

Same, I'm finished with my 2 year HD2 contract next month and I'm itching to get a new phone, been eyeing up the Nexus for a while. But I'm scared of buying it and getting buyers remorse the instant the HTC edge or the Galaxy s3 are released.
But I really dont want to have to wait another 3 or so months to upgrade
hd2 lagacy
i should recommend u something android related
the galaxy family is the perfect one, so Galaxy S II or Galaxy Note will be ok, including there ICS update
♦♦ Galaxy Note ♦♦
Galaxy NOTE seems to be the only device right now which i think is pulling me towards itself and away from my hd2 !
the device (hd2) has served me very loyally over the past months...
but still i would keep my hd2 as a second phone and galaxy note as first ! !
As my friend did
I also think bout buying it))

why dont u get a gs 2? its fast, screen is big~~ anything u want its on it~~
galaxy series...
I think im going to take the plunge and get the titan! looking at getting an android tablet so I will have the best of both worlds (PC world have an Advent tablet for £130!!)
first i was looking at the nexus, but no sd-card slot? no way! so i'm landed with the galaxy note, now since 3 moths. i still love my hd2 on miui rom, using it with my prepaid sim card, but the note... wow... also good rom devs around and a lot of possibilities in flashing...
Most of people quit HD2 for HTC Desire HD or HTC Sensation.
For Android Phone, Galaxy Nexus is annoucing a new SmartPhone Class. Like HTC One series =D
HTC One X should be quad-cored with a 720p - 4.7" Screen =D
After 2 years of being loyal to the HD2 I finally ugraded to the SGSII and haven't looked back, yes I still have the HD2 running MIUI ICS the Galaxy S 2 is a great replacement, sure the dev support is not as deep, but give it time, it will be.
After owning the galaxy there's no question in my mind most of us will remain with Samsung and android especially people who use custom Roms. But what's next after having this amazing phone?
It has been a year now since I've had mine, and obviously its soon time to upgrade.
For me I think ill skip the galaxy Note... I don't think its worth the upgrade just yet.
CES is just round the corner, and something else after that I think? I'm holding out to see whether Samsung's planning an SIII for this half of the year. We've already seen a supposed leaked shot taken from a device with the product code i9500 from inside a Samsung office.... It seems fairly probable that we'll see something by February as we have for the last 2 years. What are other peoples thoughts?
Personally, I am really disappointed with Samsung leaving 10 million plus SGS owners off the ICS train (especially because of their touchwiz that sucks), and I wanna show it to them by not buying their products. I'm still waiting for a stable custom ics sgs rom. I would have eyed the galaxy nexus, but it kind of bothers me that it's samsung. but it does not have the touchwiz and will get updates fast.
I'm quite fed up with the so called android fragmentation, but don't want to go the apple way. I want more nexus-like products with clean android and fast updates. Guess I'm screwed...

Somebody mis-translated the original Korean statement and it all went a bit mad on here. No reason to boycott Samsung anymore.
Im hoping the S3 isn't too far around the corner. As much as I would have gone for the recent Nexus S or whatever it is, its specs leave me cold. No memory slot? Pfft.

After one year with my SGS I'm still totally satisfied with it. I can read ebooks, play games or watch movies without any problems. Currently I don't need more memory, higer resolution screen or multicore processor. But perhaps when SGS III hits the market and devs/modders will start playing with it, I'll probably buy it.
I'm waiting for the s3. Hope it is announced at the CES

I suggest you buy the Galaxy nexus, it's great!
This value pack does sound a little cheap. I bet its a few new wallpapers Haha. I personally like Samsung a lot but I'm disappointed by the decision.

To OP: Wait for the SIII. The Note is just ridiculously oversized for a phone. I have seen people talking on it, and it looks stupid. You might as well walk around with a laptop stuck to your face. That way, at least no one can tell who you are.
I'm waiting. For the moment i'm satisfied with my Galaxy S. No need (for me) to buy a new one. And there will be new Roms for it,too.
The Galaxy note isn't a Smartphone - it's a very small tablet. For a smartphone it's too big, and for a tablet too small. Odd product.
SGS3. Nothing else.

I think I'm lucky in that my contract ends in November and when I sign up for a new one (not sure with whom yet), I will get a new phone. If the S3 comes out in the 1st half of 1012, by November, it will be less expensive and I can get it cheaper.
I am super happy with my SGS and for what I use my phone for, I don't really need a new one, but I guess for 4G or LTE it's worth it, and it will be cheap since I will get it on a contract.
Ian
same here i can change phone in december, and am waiting for post ces releases to see what comes next, anything with tegra 3 or samsungs equivalent
will be waiting for galaxy S III,should be a spectacular device.
am thinking of the galaxy nexus or galaxy s III
- As in the title.....will you guys move to the new Galaxy S III?
I do usually sell old phone to buy last out but Note is different, there is nothing similar on the market and ill just wait for Note II (i think =D)
What you guys think?

When the next samsung flagship is released we will have to wait 2-4 months. Then we will have the Note II or what they are going to call it. But the Note is a bigger succes then they expected, so we might see 5.0" + phones from HTC, Motorola, LG etc. And maybe even apple. So lets wait and see. But I know that it will be very hard to use a samller screen once you have owned this phone.
I think I would... but I'm not going to jump as one of the early adopters.. NO, not just yet...
I had learned my lesson before.. early adopters or the early to acquire the 'unit', the more you tend to experience some of the first hand bugs that came on it...
I tend to hold off till maybe the 2nd or 3rd batches before I'll try to purchase it. In that way, I'll know what are the underlying bugs and kinks the first batches would bring.. (as usually the case maybe.)

Same here. After years of switching phones every other month I have finally found my perfect device that suits me. I've had mine since release day and havent thought of another device.
In my opinion this is in the same league as my favorite devices. Original blackberry bold and htc hd2.

Smaller screen= a downgrade
Most of the users of Gnote will have trouble adapting to a smaller screen. Used dell streak for many months and then even gsII was not good enough.
My next move would be note II

i couldnt find any reason to change my phone.
Can't think of any reason to move to a smaller display size
Will for sure wait for note ii

lets be honest... once you get over the "i feel like a dork" hurdle using your note in public, there is nothing to admire about a phone with a smaller screen

So a big No No
how i wish to keep my signature from expanding....alas....galaxy...filthy...galaxy!!!
I think here at the Galaxy Note Forums will tell you that, most will NOT get the SGSIII because we are all waiting for that 1080p, quad core processor on the Galaxy Note 2. It just seems right
can not comback smaller screen .i still happy with my Note
Unless it offers the same screen as Note. Otherwise, it will be hard to switch. Also, Note is very different than the rest of the phone so far.
I believe now that to me, the screen size is a major consideration for me.
why would I do that?
I change my phone only if next one is really better and SIII is a great phone for ppl that don't have Note
hi guys
today i sold my galaxy note and buyed a Galaxy S3
when i touched the Galaxy S3 its very smooth the plastic is very shiney and smooth..and the screen..pfff i have to get used to it..a huge impact!!
its very weird to return to a small screen..but i knew it would be a problem in the future when i buyed the note..
The S3 has a very good screen..very sharp and the device is running extremly smooth no lag no ****....it was like uhmmm my girlfriend leaving when i saw that idiot walking away with my note
but anyway..
Bye Bye Folks i will be on S3 forums from now on

Totally agreed, i has tried my frend.sg3. It really different level in terms of smoothness and speed if compare to our note.
But it is not fair to put the comparison in between note and sg3, since sg3 is quadcore handset.
Im glad you owned a new sg3, for me i will wait for note 2, since the new comming note.confirmed will have better performance in every aspect than sg3 for sure. No doubt at all.
Cheers.

Yeah i'm planning on waiting for the note 2....too lol. I just can't have anything smaller, it's like once you buy a 50+ inch tv you just can't see yourself buying a 32in down the road
if the note 2 comes i will sell the s3 and buy Note 2
( a lunatic android fan huh )
Definitely going to wait for note 2! The idea of going back to a smaller display is out of the question. I don't think that the slightly lag on my note will drive me to buy s3.

I really am looking forward to note 2 but due to Samsung's lack in the ICS update on time I probably will switch brands. I mean I will still keep my note and use it for my media like movies TV shows and books (continue using it as a mini tablet) but when its time for an upgrade I probably will just get another phone just not from samsung, unless of course the NOTE 2 has a incredible feature that makes be forget about this entire ICS 'update disaster' from Samsung.

I'll be damn tempted by the GS3 once it has a strong dev community AOSP backing. I like what's going on in terms of AOSP for the Note (especially CM9), but if I can't use my pen, I may as well have a smaller phone (I'm not getting the Nexus because it doesn't have a card slot).
Good for you TS... but for us: we will wait for Note 2

I am an engineering student (age 20) having galaxy s2 bought 4 months ago,, i wonder if it will be a good decision to buy note 2...i mean that is it usable...not too big to use as a phone ???
Or should i wait till next year for something like galaxy s4...??

Up to you but you wont see anything better until next year around this time when note 3 comes.. from my personal experience and from most of note 1 owners once you use the note for several days you CAN NOT use anything smaller..

This.
Going to anything smaller just doesnt work anymore.
And even though most of my friends and family who say they'll never get one, can't seem to put down my phone when i come over. I think they are waiting for the day their contract is up :cyclops:
What about the s3?
Also I think this might belong in the q and a section instead.
i tried the note 1 liked got use to the size but was bit issues with pocket for me..i dont wear tight jeans..try it out and you can always return it like i did..new note 2 sure is a nice device i just got a GS3 when it came out here in US was the lucky few to grab one before anyone else..i dont really even talk much on the phone..mostly a data user
I would recommend the note 2 definitely.
I started on an iphone 3g to iphone 4. I found about custom themes/roms on android then got a galaxy s2. the s2 dominated apple iphones. when I saw the note 1 come out I was like sweet, my priority is web/movies. when I got the note 1 I couldn't put it down. I would never downgrade in size, but that's because I use it primarily for facebook, the web and movies. unfortunately I hard bricked it awhile ago installing a wrong zip file
so I can't wait till the note 2 comes out. I will be all over it like a fly on sh!t
I would recommend it. I had an iPhone up until spring this year when I went to HK and bought a SGN1 and now whenever I handle my iphone I just can't get used to that small screen anymore. The large screen area of the SGN really makes a huge difference. Even though my SGN1 is only 6 months old I feel it had some shortcomings (primarily lag related) which should be rectified with the SGN2.
I agree. Once you have the Galaxy Note, you can never go back to a smaller screen. I was hoping the Note 2 would be 6". *sigh*
cant wait for galaxy note 2 to come out and very disappointed with Samsung as always they delay the product by 5-6 weeks after they show it,they should put it as soon as possible to get the customers and look crapple they going to rls next week and they only show it on the 12 damn crap iphone and hate that piece of crap widget phone, then next one will be Samsung Galaxy S5 by the time [18 months contract finish]
Most probably s4 is coming on Feb 2013...so i will go for that.

It will have 5“ display and will definately be beaster than note 2.

I've had 3 galaxy note ( 1st model) and i can say that galaxy ote is one of the greatest phones every. don't care about the screen. it's wonderful even if is very big.but you will be proud to have it in your pants.
I see more and more people using their phone not for calling/speaking to others, but for music, Web Browsing, Social media and watching media content. Adding to all this, even if you call others very frequently, people use bluetooth headsets or hands-free. So, I tend to feel that the 'Galaxy Note being too big' argument doesn't hold water anymore. As long as you can figure out a way to fit into your pocket, or keep it safe when you move around, it is definitely a sure to have phone.
I'm changing from S2(i9100) - S2(i9100G) - Galaxy Note(N7000)... then now i'm waiting for Note 2...
can't really go back to smaller screen, hurts my eyeballs
and also hooked on Super Amoled.... LCD are just not that level... :fingers-crossed:
