Hi, i tryed filming underwater and managed to have some steam on the inside of the screen, pulled it out, left on the sun but didn't removed the battery. It was still working but i noticed that the light from lcd started to blink.
After drying i've started it and no backlight on the screen and on the softkeys. The phone is fully working because i saw the screen with a flaslight.
Does anyone managed this problem? should i buy a new lcd screed? THANK YOU!
Obviously a new screen is needed

Okay here's the thing... my phone got water splash yesterday. As the result the left side of the screen (about one cm from top to bottom) won't work.. I've checked the screen with pointer location at developer section and that "part" can't be detected. Tried to calibrate the screen by some apps at the store but didn't work well...
Please anyone who has the same situation as mine... really need your advice and solution.
Best regard

Open it up and take a look at the flex cables.

Thanks Som for the respond
But I know nothing about hardware stuff.. Could it be software related? But I guess not since the cause is water....better check it to the service center guys.
One question. Does the screen calibration really work to fix kind of issues?

btw you drop phone on freshwater or saltwater? If you drop on saltwater
Attempt to dry with a hair dryer good high power but not too much heat. Because of the shock that the components may have then after doing that and if part of screen is not fixed then you can open the housing.
I didn't drop it into water... it just got splash from rain.. so it's clearly not saltwater...
So I have to dry it out using hair dryer without open it right.
Thanks Dark...

Cracked my screen two weeks ago. Bought a new screen/digitizer/frame on eBay and installed it tonight. Now, for some reason my Nexus refuses to turn on at all. I can plug it into my charger and get the familiar battery icon but even plugged in it refuses to turn on.
Trying to figure out what went wrong. Could it be a battery issue?
Need this guy working!
Many thanks for any and all help.

Did you plug in and place everything properly.
When I got the frame replaced I have a little gap on the top right corner side and a little bit of whiteness coming from the top right of the screen when the screen is on fully black, that is the only issues I got.
The good thing is that the touch screen is more responsive and the vibrator is much stronger.

Hey everybody,
I bought this phone last week and installed a skinomi screen protector. I removed it after about 12 hours to try and remove some dust from underneath the screen. I set it aside to do it later and I powered the phone on without the screen protector, I was really surprised when I got a screen that said that the lcd appeared damaged.
Knock-on does not work at all, if I apply pressure to the right side of the screen it simulates a weird half touch to the right. Any ideas? I'll probably just add the phone insurance and get a new one unless someone has a fix.
Thanks

Why not just take it back. You are still in the 14 day window.

Are the Skinomi wet application? Maybe you used too much water or something and it damaged your screen.

I plan to do that tomorrow.
maybe, but I've done alot of them and I've never had a problem before...
That screen pops up if you hold a certain button combination too. I can't remember how I found it but I was looking in the system files via nova, and noticed it. May not even,be damaged.

Same thing happened to me applying a skinomi. Phone worked perfect with the protector but removed it and got the popup saying it's damaged.
Any updates?
Screen is working when it wants.
Recently, I broke the glass on my Razr M. So, after using it with the broken glass for a while, the screen completely stopped working -- the phone would boot up and the LED worked, but nothing on the screen. I eventually decided to order a replacement screen and fix it myself. Replacing it went pretty smoothly, but after using it for a few minutes a problem has come up. Every 20 seconds (I timed it for 4 minutes, and it happened almost exactly at the 20 second mark every time), the screen cuts out (goes black) for half a second, and then come right back on. It keeps happening and I'm kind of worried. Could the display connector not be seated properly? Is it a faulty screen? Is it something software related (due to the consistent intervals)? Did I damage the connector somehow?
Any help or ideas about possible causes is much appreciated.
I've replaced 4 now on the M with no issues at all...did you get the full assembly? I would take it apart an disconnect the display unsure both connections are clean and free of debris reconnect...

It was the full assembly except for the frame; I had to scrape out the bits of broken screen around the old one and then pop the display in. And yeah, I think I'm going to try reconnecting the display. Also, the first time I removed the ribbon I kind of jerked it out, but after no major issues arose I assumed it was fine. Could that have something to do with this?
The pins seem pretty sturdy doubt one could be bent, inspect the ribbon for tears that's what I would expect from jerking it out... It's best to use the pry took for removal (I don't have one so I use a guitar pick)... best of luck

Hey guys, so a couple of weeks ago I dropped my N4 in water for about 10 seconds, as I was attempting to shut it down the screen flickered and it all went dead.
Fine, so after a week taken apart and in rice the battery is screwed, standard stuff, bought an OEM replacement battery, and then it turned on, worked as it should, except the screen was completely dead, no backlight no nothing.
Again fine, I order a non-OEM screen/digitizer/frame assembly, it arrived today and after being god damn sure everything is correctly assembled I power it on to find the screen is still completely off even though the phone is starting up and working normally (I can hear it unlocking, I can receive calls etc)
Is there another component that has to do with the signal to the screen that may have suffered from the water damage?
Bump. Can anyone shed any light on anything else to try?

My guess is you got a bad screen. There's lots of cheap ones out there. See if you can return it

I suppose it's a shame I can't know for sure cause the new one could be faulty, and the old one could be water damaged in some way.

Hang on, I just realised the digitizer works on both screens, I can unlock it and navigate what I remember from my layout just fine, it's just the display on the new one and the old one, surely that means something else is broken on the mainboard perhaps?
