I will pay for the development if someone can get bluetooth HID drivers working for the Verizon version of the GT. I have an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard I desperately need to work with the Tab. This can be my lightweight emergency station to handle different servers if I had a keyboard to type with.
Thanks!
TekSoft (BlueInput) has been talking about adding a fuller Bluetooth stack to thier keyboard driver to help all of the android devices that don't include the full HID (Droid incredible, VZW Samsung Galaxy Tab). It sounds like they are trying to have something in February. teksoftco.com

Great! Though I still need something a bit more definite and sooner.
Any reason why taking the drivers from a Tmo one and putting them on a Verizon one wouldnt work?
Do they use different bluetooth chipsets?
I saw a tear down of a tab somewhere online I need to find again but a lot of wireless chipsets these days are integrated. Cdma wifi gps and bluetooth are often found in the same piece of hardware. This means we may have very different hardware from our gsm friends. This is to handle issues such as TDMA between bluetooth and wifi and other interferences.

Dang. No coders up for this challenge?

I believe on Tab in Samsung's ROM the Bluetooth keyboard support is in IME app.
For my CM6 build i had to enable BT HID in the kernel. Maybe if someone is building VZW tab kernels+initram fs they can try enabling BT HID in the kernel.
I'll check it out if I have some time this week. It *shouldn't* be hard to enable. No promises or anything though.

For sure. I would much ratherhave my options on BT keyboards over the silly Samsung dock.
there is a keyboard that works with the Tab but it's not BT. I picked it up from the Verizon store and love it. Can even hook up speakers if I want.
I compiled the kernel with bluetooth HID included, no idea how to installbit though and am afraid to make a brick.
Any suggestions.

You can't brick it by just replacing the kernel. Worst case scenario you'd need to reflash the rom.
I am still running stock.
How would I go about replacing the kernel?

Did anybody get anywhere with this? I am still willing to donate to get these to work!
I still have the compile kernel, but no Idea how to flash it, I have not found anything on how to flash just a kernel to only the boot partition. I do not want to touch the recovery partition just in case it does not work.
I have no problem with programming stuff, I am just very new to the rom area and want to be safe
It needs to be a zImage, then flash it through Heimdall
I have a zimage....can you give me a little tutorial on Heimdall....never used it. If you will, i will try my kernal....otherwise, I would be happy to upload the kernel here and let someone who knows how try it on thiers
Also, what about signing....does the zimage need signing or do I need some change to allow it to run unsigned?
Amazing to see that people are working on this HORRIFIC issue. I am also willing to donate a bit of cash to get this one working
Thanks for working on this guys! This is HUGE for us wanting to replace their laptop with the Verizon GT.
1. Sorry if this has already been asked, looked through accessories and didn't see it.
2. Is there a way to make a USB mouse work with our tablets?

root required
That apk posted above didn't work for me on my non-rooted A500. Another site tipped me that you need root for this, so thought I'd mention it here.
You have to have a rooted tablet!!
DUh
I didn't have to do anything special, no root, no special apps. Just plugged in my Logitech wireless mouse receiver into the USB port and turned on the mouse. Works just like a mouse should...
I'm fairly certain they're just pulling your leg. I've tried 3 different mice, two with propitary wireless recivers, and they all work fine, plug and play, on everything I've ever done on this tab since I got it (I received it with stock 3.1, have used up to current stock, and have used 2 different roms)
I'm running on stock 3.2 using a arc touch on mine. Works like a charm.

I got the New Samsung USB connection Kit today, I have the Galaxy Tab 7 from T-Mobile, and YES I do know that it will not work with the Froyo installed, but I got a great deal on it for $15.00 free shipping, so when the talented XDA people find a way, of which I am confident someone will!. I took some pictures so everyone could see the packaging if you have not already.
Yes I did try it just for fun and of course nothing happened.

Again, apologies but is this different from the included cable that comes with galaxy tab? I understand the included cable also acts as a usb data cable for the tab.

backtrack 5 distro+ usb wifi adapter in promiscuous mode= portable hacking? I do believe this little device may have just solidified making backtrack on tab working. since now we can connect a usb device into the virtual machine and use those drivers, are we free to play with the fun tools?

I wonder if it has a driver for USB DAC (external sound card) like the ipad, I want to connect my usb DAC to the tab.

There are so many possibilities this opens up.
sorry!! thats working???
Also interested in this, if we can get a source / purchase point...

you gave us only the first half of the information about the dongle ...the point is: does it work or not???
Hoping to get a response from the poster.
A lot of question had already been posted....it would be great if it really could work.
I do not want to disappoint you all, but my guess is that he orderd this http://www.123cellularsupply.com/products/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-10.1"-USB-Adapter.html
it is adapter for Galaxy Tab 10.1 ad probably won't work with Galaxy tab

Nice to hear that! Because it can be the easest way to convert Verizon Xoom to EU Xoom
I have two modems:
Huawei E1750 - usb dongle
Option GTM378 - internal mpci modem that is detected by xoom.
Booth are visible on lsusb, and booth are using usb_wwan.ko and option.ko
So if you need tester say a word

nice to hear from BRD. i really hope this alot because i am using wifi version.
i was running usb_modeswitch to switch the modem to zero cd on the xoom. and
mount all the ttyusb0 ,1, 2 but i couldn't dial(tried pppd call). sorry i am new to this kind of thing so maybe i am missing just a little things.
hope BRD will clear all out.

The dongle I have does not require any special drivers. It uses Ethernet over USB via RNDIS or CDC-ENCM. A previous Tiamat HC rom supported this and you and Solarnz helped me with a script to configure the connection/gateway. It would be great if I could get this to work on the EOS roms.
I posted this request previously in the wingray EOS thread. I am only reposting to consolidate the request into this thread.
Thanks BRD!

I have to double check, but the rndis over USB may break android gadget drivers. And that is a massive epic fail. If you can, post up that script to help me refresh my memory. In fact, I may write a helper app for all this 3g/ethernet dongle business.

Here is the post with the script information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22346822&postcount=2987
That would suck if RNDIS is not possible since it worked on HC. It was pretty nice being able to use my 4G dongle with my WiFi Xoom but ICS is so much nicer. Keep me posted and I am willing to try anything out.
When you and Solarnz were helping me out, one of you had me run some commands in a terminal window which showed that the OS was seeing the device. Unfortuneately I do not remember what those commands were to see if ICS sees it as well.
[edit]
On second thought, from the output of the script it looks like the Xoom sees the ethernet connection, eth0, as the Xoom is provided an IP address.

Ya the problem is the rndis support. That's why you get that error on the last line. Ill cook a kernel in a bit with the needed additions.
Ok HuckFinn you lucked out. We got rndis but only as a module. Baked in it breaks all sorts of stuff. I tested by using USB tether from my evo3d to the xoom and it works. The only issue is the "internet not fully registered with android" issue. However, I'm pretty sure I know what to do. Look for a new thread from me regarding modules, drivers, and hardware.
Also, if some of the mentioned dongles need drivers, ill see if I can cook them. I'm pretty sure most use either rndis or the option USB_wwan stack.

I would like to know it the HD2 supports USB on the go, meaning can it act as an USB Host, I'd like to try out this DSLR Controler App which looks quite nice
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dslr.dashboard
If anyone has experience with it (or the ADK for that matter), let me know.
If it is a ROM thing maybe point me to one that supports it
Yes the HD2 supports USB Host, I used it when I put Ubuntu on my phone.
I don't know if the Android Roms support it, but I'm sure some do.. You would have to look around for that

working...
Hi,
check out this thread posted earlier by 'derschnelle': http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459999&highlight=usb+host
It is working now, for me atleast.
I tested it yesterday with Remote Release (USB) on my Canon EOS 7D and the HTC HD2/Leo (on CyanogenMOD9 nightlies) using a Y-USB-Cable (that came with my 2.5" external Harddisk).
However, there are two disadvantages:
1. you need a power source, like a pc, a socket with an adapter, ...
2. after applying the patch to android, the HD2 doesn't seem to charge while switched on. However, when it's switched off, it recharges. Kinda weird, will have to look into that.
