1. Sorry if this has already been asked, looked through accessories and didn't see it.
2. Is there a way to make a USB mouse work with our tablets?

root required
That apk posted above didn't work for me on my non-rooted A500. Another site tipped me that you need root for this, so thought I'd mention it here.
You have to have a rooted tablet!!
DUh
I didn't have to do anything special, no root, no special apps. Just plugged in my Logitech wireless mouse receiver into the USB port and turned on the mouse. Works just like a mouse should...
I'm fairly certain they're just pulling your leg. I've tried 3 different mice, two with propitary wireless recivers, and they all work fine, plug and play, on everything I've ever done on this tab since I got it (I received it with stock 3.1, have used up to current stock, and have used 2 different roms)
I'm running on stock 3.2 using a arc touch on mine. Works like a charm.

Ok I know this sounds really strange but here is what got me thinking about this. I purchased the Motorola BT keyboard and really wish it had a built in touchpad. So I have tried finding a nice slim but cheap BT mouse to use along with it. I have not found one that I like yet.
I was surfing the market and saw an application to use your android phone as a mouse/keyboard for your computer. That got me thinking that I always have my phone with me so if I could use the touchscreen of the phone on my Xoom problem solved.
Anyone seen anything like this?
Look for BlueputDroid on the market. I've been using this app on my Evo to use the phone as a keyboard/touchpad on both my Xoom and PS3. It does require root though.

This looks interesting but my Motorola Milestone2 is not rooted and I would really like a solution that did not require rooting. Thanks for the information though and if I can not find anything maybe I will reconsider.
I just got the official usb adapter and I can't get my PS3 controller to sync. I don't know what to do. Please help.
Anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong? It's a plain sixaxis btw.
I just got mine this morning. Ill look into it when I get off work today for ya bro.

PS3 controllers are not standard HID devices, they cannot be used with anything other than a PS3 without special drivers.
Pershoot's kernels include these special drivers as part of the "lib" archive. Unfortunately module autoloading is not yet available for these drivers so you have to manually load hid-sony.ko
It works

I can't get my 360 controller to work either. I plug it in and it says unknown usb device.

The PS3 controller works perfect on the XOOM without any special drivers or anything. Just need to plug it in. Can't seem to get it to work on my 10.1 though and can't get my 360 controller to work as well. It's pretty crappy, I may have to go buy a wiimote to get a controller for my 10.1 instead.

I'm having this same problem. All other USB devices I plug in work fine (mouse, keyboard, usb drive, usb hub, etc), but none of my 360 controllers work. I get the same "Unknown USB Device" error, I also noticed that the lights on the controller keep turning on and off, like it starts to get power for a split second and then off.
This is the main reason that I bought the adapter.

Can I ask what people use game controllers on the tablet for? (Duh, games, but which games or apps are enhanced by having a two stick controller?)

I want it for emulators (N64oid, SNesoid, etc.) SNesoid doesn't need 2 sticks but N64oid could. Also, I don't have any other controllers.

Ah, I didn't even think about the emulators. Makes perfect sense, then.
Xbox360 pads need xpad.ko, also available with pershoot kernels.

So unless I root and swap kernels, there's no way I can get it working?
Nope. xpad.ko and hid-sony.ko are not compiled into the stock kernels.
I don't have any links other than Pershoot's kernel at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138167, I'm a bit of a Linux guru so I was able to figure it out myself.
Install the kernel.
Download and extract the "lib" archive to /data/local/modules/ as described on Pershoot's blog (which I can't access at the moment)
Run "insmod /data/local/modules/hid-sony.ko" in a shell, either via Android Terminal Emulator or an ADB shell.
One of these days I'm going to see if there's a way to get module autoloading to work, or maybe see if hid-sony and xpad can be just compiled right in.

Great, thanks for the info.
How come the Xoom works with the Xbox 360 pad by default and the GTab doesn't? I thought that functionality was built into Android 3.1?

No idea, I haven't installed TouchWiz.
But again, I thought the functionality was built into Android 3.1. They demo'd it at the show when they announced the OS update with an Xbox controller.

What is the best 3.2 Rom currently for A500?
There supposedly is only the
Virtuous Xoom
Asus Transformer-Prime
Asus modified
With Samsung coming out this week or next.
Thank you
The one that has worked the best for me is the asus one, the xoom one tends to lag sometimes

Yes it is.
I switched to prime yesterday and I doubt i'll go back to acer roms until we get a 3.2 rom for it. I like being able to see both internal and SD card when connected via usb. GPS is fast to lock!. Updated drivers for everything else....The ONLY cons are lack of the dolby feature (never used it) and the landscape/portrait lock button does nothing since the asus doesn't have it. That's it.... the pro's definitely outweigh the cons.
just make sure if you flash prime and don't have/want 3G to add the ro.carrier=wifi-only line to your build.prop to disable that piece of the os.

If you don´t use / need 3G, you can disable it by editing /system/build.prop and adding the line
ro.carrier=wifi-only
Seems that saves battery with 3G disabled...

If using root explorer make sure you hit the mount r/w button at the top. Root explorer is the easiest explorer to use since the text editor is built in.

Thank you all for your kind suggestions, though it is sad that many of the good Rom makers have either retired or left XDA.
Some of the Roms are very amazing and really want to say thank you to all the Rom developers to allow us to enjoy 3.2 before Acer has released it.
Fyi, there is a new one. A mod of PRIME 9. Using it right now and it has its hicups, but pretty solid.

Yep, I am currently using the original Prime 9 with the mods added on as zip, but it is not that different than Prime 9, but thank you for the notification.
all you people happily using prime p9, have you tried the camera? does it work for you? thanks.
The Camera works for me, though it is quite fuzzy. Which version of Prime are you on?

started with PRIMEE-P9 David's MOD v1, now using virtuous xoom. in either case, the camera app is unable to work with the rear facing camera (i only get a black screen). it works only with the front facing camera. the lightspeed 1.0.1 doesn't have this problem.
i flashed my tablet several times, followed the instructions to the letter, still the same thing. otherwise i'm pretty happy with the 3.2 custom roms.
hi does the usb works on this rom? And im using it and its far vetter than anytouch wiz rom out there, hands down for this rom the only question can i plug in a usb keyboard or pair a bluetooth keyboard or mouse ?

Then you'll need the keyboard. I have a USB to Ethernet adapter and it works just fine, with root. I don't believe there is a Bluetooth to Ethernet adapter, which leaves you needing the USB ports in the TF101 keyboard (and probably the TF201 keyboard as well, but I haven't tested the drivers I linked to with the Prime/ICS yet).

Yup, if you're looking to do that then you're going to need the USB from the keyboard dock. Original Transformer is my recommendation.
Will it work with the slider or go with the tryed and true transformer
Going with the transformer. Im going to wait for the prime to get more support and also i can get it in store.
Guys before a week I head read somewhere it is possible to make your 3G dongle work on the N7. However this was before I rooted my device. Now I have it rooted, I have bought an OTG cable and a 3G dongle. Can someone please provide me with a link which works? Thanks a lot..
Anyone?
might wanna check the dev section, there are a few threads about that.

Trevd has written a great guide on how to integrate 3gdongle support w/o needing a third party app. I added it to my tool, auto-patcher, which installs the function on any ROM with one command.
You can use the patcher on any PC, osx, Linux or windows. Windows even has a GUI. It is easy and way better than keeping uneccessary apps in your memory all the time.
wats the process fa unrooted devices
