HTC Hermes on Rogers Network

Hello,
I just purchased a Unlocked HTC Hermes (Cingular 8525) off Ebay.
The phone is functioning great except for the GSM component. I currently am receiving the no GSM error. My phone SIM card is from Rogers in Canada.
I've read a post from Mad Meddik regarding his No GSM error on Rogers but a solution was never found. I've also read posts from people saying their Hermes worked right out of the box on the Rogers network.
Could someone please help me get my Hermes phone working on my Rogers network?
Here is my device information
Model NO: HERM100
ROM Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 09/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
Protocol version: 32.53.7018.01H
Thanks!

Not my area of expertise, but as you bought of ebay maybe a previous owner semi bricked device? In which case the following thread might help:

That would be my guess as well. My TyTN works fine on Rogers. All I had to do was create the GPRS and MMS connections settings, but that shouldn't stop the phone part from working "out of the box".

Thanks Mike, Thanks John,
I've asked the Ebay seller to look at this discussion and provide me with a solution. Perhaps following the Unbricker solution will be the way to go.
I'll let you guys know what happens.
Thanks
The Ebay seller has responded. He has told me to do what I can to fix it. Even if I fail, he will give me a full refund, so I figure I have nothing to lose at this point.
I'm wondering if upgrading the Radio ROM may fix the issue?

You might need to make some friends on the Hermes upgrading board! and do some serious reading of the un-bricking threads
Mike
So, after reading the guidelines in the unbricking Hermes Wiki page, my solution is to " Flash any shipped ROM matching your CID, if such rom is not available wait until your carrier releases it or send it to repair or warranty... "
Can anyone tell me how I can find the Shipped ROM? Is it on the CD anywhere?
I've moved this discussion over to the upgrading forum.
Thanks for you help guys!

Try http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=375.
I think you will need the goldcard method
Fist use the oneclickmethod. http:/ / theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-root-your-htc-hero-in-one-click/
If you don't want to install a new ROM, use this old method. But skip step 5-11, because you've already done that in the one click method.
http:/ / theunlockr.com/2009/08/08/how-to-gain-root-access-on-your-htc-hero/
Very easy and very simple. Rootet my hero with this yesterday
Brilliant, thanks for your help, whitch is the best 2.1 Rom at the moment?
Thanks,
Dan
Hey, not trying to steal your thread. Just wondering if the method suggested by danaust will work on my hero. I also cannot use the one click root method and am trying to avoid the tedious goldcard method.
Firmware: 1.5
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel: 2.6.27-44690c1a
Build: 2.73.707.9 146733 CL#62020
Sofware: 1.0.0.A6288
Thanks
'Tedious goldcard method'? Get a grip. Its a piece of piss. These lads on here have worked hard to make it easy for us ignorant fools and they have. You are taking ignorance to another level by ignoring the route to your goal.
please review the rules
Before this ember turns into a full on flame, let's all take a minute to review the rules?
The RULES can be found here.

Well. It's the unlockers method. The shipping part, is just because I couldn't load the "image" any other ways, so I had to use the two methods.
And yes, It's working.

X10i on O2, tried debranding but don't think it worked

I followed a tutorial as I wanted to have the latest updates available, but having trouble, it looks like some of the O2 branding has gone, like the home screens with O2, but it still shows O2 in the APN's and most importantly when I try and update it says I have the latest software.
Any idea where I went wrong? This is what the phone now shows-
FW Version - 1.6
Baseband Version - 1.0.16
Kernel - 2.6.29-rel [email protected] #2
Build Number - R1FA016
Thanks for any help.
Hi.
Which guide did you use, and have you visited this part of the forum yet - forum.xda-developers.com
Hi, it was on the se-nse forum (sorry it won't let me post the link).
Not sure about rooting, think I would be happy getting the latest version, then take it from there.

I was the same, but it's pretty straight forward, and the pros far outweigh the cons.

On the download page, to the right of the serial no. input box, you should have
"Where do I find the Product S/N?" label. Click it for instructions.

Since you are not doing spam, I doubt the MODs would get upset if you put the link but strategically put a couple of extra spaces in it - ie: ww w.rapid share. com/blahblahblah.html
