Problem is its an LG, it will be supported for 6 months after release and no more.
That's if you're lucky.

And even after that - it lags (only a few times but QUAD S4! - unforgivable), no removable battery and fugliest interface ever. It'll definitely wipe other phones... so they can look shiny and new.
Until ofc. it gets proper CM10 - THEN it'll kill.

Sorry didn't get completely what you meant to say my bad
Maybe now the s4 pro owners will be able to use emulators at full speed xD on dual crait the SoC sucked totally at this point^^ personally I dont care about this^^ my s3 int. is still better imo the only thing my phone lacks is LTE, but at the time I got it it wasnt available at europe.
I'm sorry to say this but this beat the hell out of our S3 in general...
But i'm happy for two reasons...
1)Lg's ui sucks...
And
2)When we'll have android 4.2,5.0 or whatever they'll still be stuck in the previous version as always!
As this thread is off topic and will probably be locked soon, i just wanna say i personally would forget about anything LG releases. Take a look at their 'flagship' optimus 2x and the fact that it was released when gingerbread was the latest and despite ics and jellybean's release, it is still on gingerbread today! I have absolutely zero confidence in LG in terms of android upgrades and would never recommend anyone to buy an lg android phone.
My apologies for the off topic rant.. Just felt the need to put the warning out..

Just have some patience guys. This new qualcomm chipset will start popping up in new HTC and Samsung phones. Once that happens it will be time to upgrade from the S3. For now I wouldn't even touch the LG phone.

Yup all true but if you are on XDA I don't care about official rom upgrade/support. I will personally go for best hardware there is.
Launched with Ice Cream Sandwich? Seriously?
This thing has nice specs but software and device support is also just as important.
It's running an OS that was launched October of LAST YEAR, on top of it it will have LG's nasty UI overlay.

My dream phone in this world would be a Touch Pro 2 with a Snapdragon, Capacitive touch screen and Android. The closest thing (at least in theory) seems to be the Nexus Two. We do know it will have a qwerty keyboard at least, which is what bothers me the most with the Nexus One..(Probably one of the very few complaints I have about it)..
Anyway, I was very disappointed when I read the rumours that Motorola would be making the N2, but Ive read several discussions since then where people claim to know that HTC is making it after all.
Just wondering if anyone know anything more now? Been a while since Ive seen new updates on the matter.

If Motorola is making it, I'm giving it a pass and waiting for the N3. If it comes with a hard keyboard, ditto.

I agree completely. Motorola makes some ugly ass phones, and their Motoblur skin looks like a pain to use.
My dream device is a Nexus One with a Super AMOLED and slightly larger (say 4") screen.
I spoke to someone I know at Google who said outright, there is no guarantee that HTC will get the Nexus Two. Motorola is the obvious choice. Motorola makes a hell of a good phone. and don't forget, this is a cell phone.

No to hardware keyboard. I like it as it is.
Ditch Snapdragon and go with Tegra 2. Cortex A9 architecture and a vastly better CPU along with amazing battery life? Yes please!

The Incredible has a 8MP camera. Said camera sucks dicks. MP isn't everything, and phone cameras can only do so much. 5MP strikes a perfect balance, IMO.

Umm, where is that info coming from? That photochopped fake image of motorola shadow?
I have not seen any info on it. Although I think N2 is coming, as far as I know there was no official confirmation of it, leave alone details like keyboard or photos of it. I think you are speculating based on no real information.
If I'm wrong please show me your sources of info.
I dont really mind no physical keyboard but would love to have bigger screen like may be 4 inch, super amoled screen, dual led flash, tegra cpu, stereo speaker and I will be in heaven.
Mutantblack
Motorola cant make qwerty keyboards! Nexus Two will be a qwerty device, at least according to what Google has been saying. And if Motorola is the one making it, then we get something like the Milestone, which has an awfull keyboard with cramped tiny keys.
No, give it to HTC that will turn out an awesome Touch Pro 2-ish keyboard!
Dream N2? Or Dream Phone?
I think 4" Screen, Snapdragon 1.5Ghz, Tegra 2 or Atom perhaps?
An LET screen (light emitting transistor). Far more efficient.
A Battery that will last a full 24 hours at least, with hammering. 2000+ mAh? (I would happily sacrifice size for a bigger battery (depth, not screen size).
Android obviously.
12 Megapixel camera.
No hardware keyboard (gone are the days of broken keys )
More Ram, and a much larger internal capacity; 2 SD slots?
One can dream...
Basically, battery and screen size.
There will never be a nexus two by that name.
HTC is passing a phone through fcc with a keyboard and snapdragon. I believe it's gonna be GSM but I could be wrong on that.

Well apparently the N1 now officially has 2.2. I'd say that's a pretty big feature.

The Galaxy has a Hummingbird GPU, which is more powerful than the Adreno the Nexus has. Actually I believe it is the best out of all the Android devices.

My brother on the other hand has a blackberry and would like to try something else so i feel its a bigger jump for him then someone with current specs on a phone.

1. Galaxy has significantly better media playback. (mkv, divx, xvid ect)
2. Twice as fast 3D performance. (2x FPS in games)
3. Better and bigger screen. (Super Amoled + bigger ! )
4. Screen has flawless multi touch capability ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVlsRCMltDg
Why in the hell would T-Mo not attempt to push a technologically superior device? I just don't get it....Verizon, Sprint and the DeathStar(at&t) all entice customers with very good devices.... Looks very much like a successor to the Incredible. No word on specs yet, no front facing camera , but the back looks like a redesigned INC. What do you guys think?
Not hard to figure out. The current Incredible is based off the HTC Desire platform with minor tweaks (higher MP camera with 720P, 8GB internal, better touch sensor). The "Desire 2" is being unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC), which takes place in Barcelona during February 14-17. There's a leaked shot of a Verizon-branded version of the same phone, which means this will likely be the successor to the Incredible. The Incredible hits end of life on March 31, so expect the successor to launch around that date, up to 2 weeks before or after.
As for specs, you can expect a 2nd gen Snapdragon (MSM 8255 in the Desire 2, 8655 in the Incredible 2) at 1ghz, 768MB of RAM, and it to be a 3G only device (no 4G, no FCC). Anyway, check back after they announce it to see how close I was. I have no sources, this is just speculation, but my track record on these things is fairly decent.
^ Makes sense, but...
I'm hoping for the dual-core Snapdragon seen at CES. And why would they do a Desire 2 with the second gen Snapdragon when that's what the Desire HD has? Wouldn't be much of an advancement. I can certainly live without the front facing camera if we can get that kind of power, but I'm sure this is very preproduction so who knows. I'm thinking if this does come to market it will be later than suggest above, why release a device so similar to the Thunderbolt at the same time with less features (and to replace Verizons flagship phone from HTC)? It does resemble the Incredible, I'm hoping for the best.
Edit: And as far as specs, I'm hoping to see 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon, 1Gb of RAM, LTE, and despite what the device shown has, a front facing camera (a higher resolution screen would be nice too).
Looks nice and clean. The white/silver outline looks a little meh to me, but maybe that is just a case? Either way an upgraded Incredible would be cool, but I still might opt for the Thunderbolt over that..
Yeah I was really hoping for a front facing camera. This will make me lean much more towards the Thunderbolt now, 4G + FFC. was never too big on the screen size, but I don't mind an extra 0.7" of screen.

I think this is meant to be the mid-range, with the Thunderbolt being their high-end device. I also don't think the dual-core Snapdragon is ready for a consumer device launched prior to the summer.

It just seems to me that because the Incredible was a high end device when it came out, if they replace it with an Incredible 2 it will continue to be a high end device. And as I mentioned, I imagine it will be release later (certainly not before summer). Look how long it's been since we first saw leaks of the Thunderbolt, and we're just now (CES) getting any solid info on it. I think that if this is in fact an Incredible 2, it will be released considerably later than the Thunderbolt and replace it as HTC's flagship for Verizon. Just my thoughts of course.

No official release date, and we won't know until the unveiling, which takes place on Feb 14-17th. Since the Incredible's end of life is March 31, I'd say the "Incredible 2" launches in the March 15 - April 15 time fame.
i'd like a 3.9" screen, 4.3 is a bit big to me, but the incredible seems like it could be just a tad bigger. I say 3.9" because I don't want it to be like a samsung

Hardware-wise? Probably the Atrix from Motorola, if you can handle a locked bootloader (so no fully custom roms).
The upcoming HTC Sensation looks promising too, though they still seem to be stuck in the ways of low internal memory and using SD cards for expansion...
So is it an HTC thing making us partition our SD cards to get enough memory to run all the rom's etc we like? Does AT&T have anything cool, or able to be run on their system like my Nexus does? I know most hate them, but in my area it is my best option and I have no problems with them.

Is the g2x sim card different from my nexus1? Are they different because of the 4g capability?
You can drop an AT&T sim right in, has the right freqs for 3g. Cons I see are small battery and my experience with LG build quality is not comforting. I would add memory to that but I'm expecting proper a2sd from the smart people soon enough.

I plan on moving to the G2X from an Optimus T (my Nexus One kicked the bucket awhile back), and I gotta say that despite the T not being made of any super high quality materials, I really like the feel of it. The G2X seems to employ some of the same ideas so it might be a pleasant surprise build-wise.
Batteries seem to have been forgotten by a LOT of manufacturers. If I remember correctly the GS2's is 1650mAh and the HTC Sensation's is something like 1530mAh, and the G2X's is 1500mAh. None of those seem stellar, but I'm a bit more forgiving of the G2X's because I have a hard time believing that the larger 4.3" screens on the other two aren't going to suck a fair bit more battery than the G2X's smaller 4" display.
Baddest depends on your needs. I personally think the HTC sensation is the 'baddest' out there at the moment. Its specs are top notch and looks like the newer, bigger brother of the N1 (Albeit minus the trackball). However, the G2X looks nice as well....again it all depends on your needs.
My meaning of the "baddest" was basically the nicest phone with the best features. Which I know can be taken differently by different people.

Looks like a nice phone but looks like a summer release, which means Sept or Oct if I actually were to wait on it. It does look like the big brother of the N1. It has lots of nice specs too aside from Sense.
The Tmobile G2X is available online in a few days, dual core, 4" screen, HDMI out and it has stock Android. I believe the phone is unlocked and easily rooted. Looking over at the LG thread they already have custom firmwares and kernels etc. CM7 is already in the works and should be here shortly.
I've been doing a lot of research and I think I'm sold on the G2X mainly because my Nexus One has crappy download speeds on 3G and they just released 4G in my area. I've been looking at the 4G phones for some time but have been waiting for a Tegra 2 chipset.
I've been searching on the different GPU's involving the Orion SGS2 and the Snapdragon 2... and I think Nvidia is really pushing mobile games and with NVidia support will only equal it being around longer. Plus the Motorola Xoom is Google's main platform for honeycomb and it uses the Tegra 2 for GUI acceleration.
So Game and OS acceleration = Tegra 2

Looks like a nice phone but looks like a summer release, which means Sept or Oct if I actually were to wait on it. It does look like the big brother of the N1. It has lots of nice specs too aside from Sense.
The Tmobile G2X is available online in a few days, dual core, 4" screen, HDMI out and it has stock Android. I believe the phone is unlocked and easily rooted. Looking over at the LG thread they already have custom firmwares and kernels etc. CM7 is already in the works and should be here shortly.

I'm sooo glad you posted this. I currently have a Nexus One w/ ATT 3G bands and was gonna pick up a G2X off contract when it comes out. Wasn't sure about that yesterday when I found out about the Sensation but your reasoning is 100% agreeable.
Yea I can't see Qualcomm or Samsung pushing game developers like NVidia.
The 4.0" screen is the same IPS screen found on the iPhone 4. While I was a little iffy about a non-Amoled screen after the Nexus, comparisons show that it is brighter and cleaner then the existing Amoled screens, excluding the Super Duper Amoled Plus Plus screen coming on with the SGS2 in the coming months because it isn't out yet.
The only negative I can find is that it is limited to 14.4 mpbs, which so is the HTC Sensation.
Here is a video comparing some games on the LG and the SGS2...

Spoiler Alert: Tegra 2 wins.
If u want something now, then the G2X looks like a nice choice for tmobile. But, if u can wait then keep an eye on the Sensation...

That video makes the SGS2 screen look so much better, hope its just a youtube thing... the ONLY thing keeping me from jumping on G2X instead of waiting for the sensation is the screen...
GS2 does support HDMI out, over its new MHL port (USB and HDMI in one).
I don't really like Samsung for dicking about their customers on their first android phones but they seem to be rolling out updates for the GalaxyS in good time. I think the S2 is my new phone.
The hummingbird processor stomped all over everything when it came out, Exynos will do the same, i mean has anyone see its most recent quadrant score? Over 3000.
Also, no pentile AMOLED screen, WOOT!
I just hope the dev community gets behind it, they don't seem to give the GalaxyS much love...

I have a Desire Z and am wondering if the new Xperia pro would be much of an upgrade.
Some things I know I would love about it are hardware buttons, a hole for a lanyard strap (I've dropped my Desire Z twice and scratched it because of lacking this), also the arrow keys may be better than the touchpad too. The camera is obviously going to be way better as it's 8mp xmoor with 720p and a f2.4 lens. It's a little smaller and lighter which I would like.
Things I hope would be better and would be interested in opinions are:
Screen - I'd hope it would be brighter in sunlight with backlit led?
Speed - Think it has a better graphics cpu so should be faster?
Battery life - No idea why it should be but would hope it would be better
Negatives would be:
Sony software - probably a bit crap but cyanogenmod could work around this nicely
Memory - Less internal storage I think?
Further research has suggested performance will be about the same.
Surprised to have a 100 views and no replies. Is there no love for Sony, or do people just not want to consider upgrading from their Desire's yet?
Looks ugly to me. Plus, i doubt it will have any developement. Staying on DZ!

I agree, the Xperia Pro looks really dated to me, like something from a few years ago.
Wasn't Sony in the practice of locking the bootloader on past Xperia phones, preventing ROM development? I haven't followed lately, is this still Sony's stance? If so, it sinks the OPs hopes of having CM on this phone.

The Xperia Pro specs say MSM8255 CPU @ 1 GHz. So in theory, it should be a bit snappier than the G2 (but not by much). And same amount of memory at 512 Mb. So it seems to be true that its not really much of an upgrade from the G2. Xperia Pro specs seem a little weak for a phone coming out in the next couple months. Most phones are going 1.2 GHz dual core, or more; and with more memory. So no, I would really not spend my money on this as an "upgrade".
Sony phones seem to be decent. I still personally feel that HTC's physical design and build quality is the best out there. And the lack of development on Sony phones can be a real deal breaker.
Personally I'm not too bothered about the looks of a device, more things like features, weight, usability etc.
Regarding CM:
"Users of Sony Ericsson devices have been left out of the CyanogenMod experience for a while now. We are happy to announce that users will be able to enjoy a full-fledged CyanogenMod with nearly full hardware support (we are still working on FM radio) starting in our next release. You can also expect nightly builds and more instructions soon."

I did swear I would never buy another Sony device after having a Vaio P that died in under a year but this is really tempting me.
Even if cm7 worked on a xperia pro, the G2 will blow it out of the water with its 2GHZ overclock!!!!!

What if the XP could be overclocked to 2ghz too?
Plus the speed won't affect the quality of the camera / video, having hardware buttons etc.
If I was in your position, I'd wait until next year to roll over with the ~1.5-2ghz dual core lineups. At least with those I can feel confidence in that the tech isn't going anywhere anytime soon, same with core2's on PC right now. There is a point until clock speed difference becomes irrelevant (mhz gains) and it becomes more about chipsets, nm processes like they are doing with the intel core tech.
With a 1ghz, single core to boot, it's kinda like buying the last of the Q4 2010/Q1-Q2 2011 models, like getting a '10 car when the '11 have a new generation lineup, that has changed specifications and model revamps.

They are similar Snapdragon chipsets, the one on the G2 is only factory clocked at 800 MHz versus 1 GHz for the CPU on the Xperia Pro. We can get into a long discussion about the overclockability of one particular chipset model versus another, etc. For instance, there are certain makes of Intel PC processors which are reputed to be highly overclockable. But unless you have reason to think this is the case with the CPU on the G2, you have to consider the fact that the CPU on the Xperia Pro can be clocked just as high, if not higher.
Yes it CAN be overclocked as much...but will it? I dont think so, as i dont think it will get much developement now.

My .02,
I owned a sony xperia x10, and I will never look back at sony after owning the DZ. HTC has such a higher build quality, plus gorilla glass screen.
I don't follow sony anymore but the x10 bootloader was locked down and was still locked down 9 months after release when I left it in the dust!

Hey don't ever get this phone
I've had a mini pro and we never got the gingerbread upgrade and its stock software is so crappy
Just stay with the G2 and wait for the dreamly G3
Stewie just said that!

+1! And can't use Android without Sense. That was the reason to buy my first HTC Desire, then DZ.
Well I went from the DZ to the Xperia Pro when I read that the Xperia Pro would get full CM support.
Here's what I like about the Xperia Pro:
GPS is faster
better reception
nicer screen
better camera
lighter
front facing camera (pretty cool with skype)
arrow keys
Here's what I dont like about it:
usb connector at the top (looks stupid when charging)
awkward power button position
notification LED on the side of the phone (also stupid)
i feel that the things i dont like are more like minor inconveniences though
sure, the DZ has nicer materials but the hinge on mine got really loose and i got some scratches on the display even though i was pretty careful. also that metal on the back of the DZ looked like crap in no time because the coating started to flake off.
i thought i would hate sonys customization of android but i actually think its pretty neat. maybe i wont even install CM once its available (yeah i will ).
Interesting comparison GB and thanks for sharing. Although I'm very tempted by the XP I think I might wait for a qwerty device with a higher res larger screen. Although then I'll probably lose some of the nice advantages of the XP like real buttons and better camera.
