Nexus 7 Stuck scrolling up? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, this has happened twice now.
Once on Facebook, and once on the Browser I think
What happens, is it seems like someone (a robot with really quick fingers) keeps flicking my screen up, so when I try to scroll down the page, it goes down a little bit and then goes straight back up, so it seems to "bounce" off the top of the page.
I have to keep closing things, pressing home button/back button lots, close apps etc and then it will stop.
What could be causing this? I hope I explained it well enough.
Thanks !

Anyone?

Are you rooted? If so, try restoring to stock or re-flashing the stock ROM. I don't really have any idea what could cause that scrolling issue, but if it continues, I would exchange/RMA your N7.

Had a similar issue. Stock didnt change it. Eventually it became permanent. Waiting for my rma now

Nah its only happened a couple of random times, n if I just piss about opening lots of apps and closing etc, it will stop, it happens on FaceBook etc.

Would be good have a restart option I feel I get lag on scrolling within different apps least once a day

Keyboard swipe bug with 4.2.2 update?

Not sure if it's maybe unique to me but after the 4.2.2 update, when I'm using swipe typing with the stock keyboard it no longer inserts a space automatically when I finish entering a word so I have to keep pressing space in between swiped words. Anyone else noticed this, or have any suggestions of something else that may be causing it?

Works like on 4.2.1 for me

It's working fine here...
Do you have any mods installed? And which kernel?

I notice the same. It's only in certain input types though. I've noticed it happen in SnapChat and the Chrome search bar.
I just flashed the latest PA, 3.0, and the swipe text input has gone for me too.
I haven't got any ROMs or anything like that. Still plain old stock android. And yes actually it seems to only happen in certain apps like chrome. Talk and WhatsApp are fine. Anyone got any ideas?

Haha just got it. Nice
Mine seems more buggy after the update. Sometimes skips letters when swiping. Mostly works though. On stock not rooted. No other keyboards installed.

Mine has spaces every where excluding the URL bar on any browser .
This is happening for me too but I only notice it in chrome search. It's pretty annoying and only since 4.2.2
Anyone any the wiser on this yet?
It works fine for me. Perhaps it is a bug with some unrelated options? Try changing some of the settings and see if that changes something.

Hmm can't really think of where to find settings to change. Any suggestions what type of thing to try?

[Q] Sick of the lag, what do I need to do?

I searched a bit but didn't find much. I am unlocked and rooted, but stock ROM. I just wiped and reinstalled 4.2.2, but the lag is till there!!! Can this be fixed by flashing a different kernel? I don't mind the stock ROM, but if I can flash a different ROM and get rid of the lag then I'll do that too! Thanks in advance!!
I'm using stock; what works form me is enabling developers option by tapping build number a couple of times. And in developers option scroll down under apps. And in apps background processes limit I selected no back ground processes. Everything has gotten faster for me. If anybody has another way let me know too.

I'll give it a shot! I'm willing to try anything at this point!
OK cool, and if you figure out a different way to make it faster let me know. I use this method to make google chrome a bit faster since loading websites would drag. It made it a bit faster.

Disable Google Currents and any other apps you don't need. See what apps are running in the background and get rid of the ones you don't really need, including widgets. Have only one user account. Turn off animations.

Also set animations in developer options to 0.5. Stock lags IMO. I would back it up and try a different rom. Rasbean is pretty fast.

Keyboard is extremely laggy

Hey guys,
I just bought a brand new Nexus 4 from Google Play and I rooted it first with AOKP but now I'm on CyanogenMod. Within a couple of days my keyboard started to become so laggy that it just crashes while I'm texting or writing an email. I switched ROMs and I installed kernels to see if anything helps but after a few hours it gets back to the same problem.
I don't know if I should unroot it and go back to stock. Or what I should do because this is extremely annoying.
Any sort of help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Could it possibly be with anything else you install? I've never had a laggy keyboard before. Are you using the keyboard that comes with the rom or installing your own? I'll use either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys.
Also do you have a large dictionary or other addons?

Thanks for your reply. I just have normal apps like Facebook and music players. I am using the keyboard that comes with the ROM itself, and no I don't have any addons or anything.
I'm really thinking about unrooting and then rerooting it again to see if that helps

I just find it weird because I've had absolutely no laggy keyboard at all with my Nexus 4 (with either stock/rooted or with this SlimBean 4.2.2), using either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys, it's a pretty powerful phone too so even swiftkeys with it's predictions shouldn't become laggy. I suspect there's something else amiss especially if you have this problem on more than one rom.

Thanks bro but I'll just try unrooting/rerooting to rule out any other problems

lol, root isnt the problem. unrooting it will amount to washing your cloths because your car is leaking air out of its tires. but, it can be cm. 1st, try just deleting the keyboards data in the main phone settings, app, all, then delete the keyboard apps data. if its not fixed, then boot into recovery and wipe your dalvik cache and cache. if still not fixed, try a different rom or different keyboard.

Homescreen icons and widgets dissappear

Just got my second nexus 4. Rooted then installed cm10. I keep having a problem where one of my home screens keeps losing all icons. It happens to different home screens pages. Did I receive a bad phone? This never happened on my old nexus 4. The only solution is to force stop trebuchet, then my icons come back. Really annoying.
Thanks

Lol no. It's something to do with the software. Try another full wipe. Do not restore any apps or anything yet, and see if the problem still persists.

I found the problem. The issue only occurs in nightlies. It happens when you switch from app drawer to home screen really fast. I replicated the bug multiple times by repeatedly switching from drawer to home screen. The problem is gone on rc5.

[Q] Overheating and Launcher issues

Hi
I've noticed that my Nexus 4 has been overheating a lot ever since the 4.3 update. Additionally, whenever I try to rearrange apps on the home screen, I get and error that the Launcher has stopped working.
Has this happened to anybody else, and more importantly, is there a fix? Please help!
Oh and I should mention that my nexus 4 is stock and unrooted.
Thanks
PS: *Unrelated* The Facebook app has started misbehaving and restarts whenever I try to open a conversation. Reinstalling does not fix this problem. If you have a solution, please help.

overheating.. if its not shutting itself down at 100C, then its not overheating. and i highly doubt its reaching 100C. why do you say overheating? does it "feel" hot to you? you do realize that "feel" isnt a way to tell what temperature it is. what temperature does it reach for you to say overheating? cpu temp? battery temp?when most people say "overheating", what they really mean is that they feel the heat through the back glass, which is normal. the phone will get warm as you use it, thats how its supposed to work.
and what launcher are you using?
also, the facebook app has been misbehaving for years, its a known bad app. i uninstalled facebook more than a year and a half ago, and cant be happier. their site is just as good as their app, but their site doesnt misbehave constantly.
