Hello world! I had to send my NS back to Samsung (Power button broke, no recovery or boot img. Pretty much bricked). While I'm waiting to get it back, I was wondering, how have your experiences been with Samsung repairs?

I have a O2 UK Samsung Galaxy S, brought 2 weeks ago. I can't get into Recovery mode.
Has O2 UK disabled recovery mode or am I doing something wrong and can't get in?
holding vol up + home + power just sees samsung logo appear then blank screen then logo again, loop.
You need to let go of the power button once the phone's rebooted, otherwise you'll be in a constant reboot cycle.
Yeah you need to let go of the power button once you see the samsung galaxy logo appear. I have the phone on o2, got it on the day of release and have been able to enter the recovery mode no problems.

I tried that and it just continues to boot as normal, no recovery mode.
mine is a 2 week old model, would newer ones have recovery mode disabled?
Also mine has a the O2 arena wallpaper, do your o2 phones have operator wallpapers?
I bought mine from 02 about a month ago, on PAYG, but use it with my 3 sim, had the arena wallpaper as default and Does have recovery mode, but I have seen at least one other poster on XDA that got the same but Does Not have recovery, so seems a bit hit and miss.
I had an 02 Galaxy about a month ago, which didn't have the 3 button recovery. However it failed after about 2 weeks (no boot past the galaxy S logo) so I sent it back for a direct replacement. The phone I got as a replacement also doesn't have the 3 button recovery so I'm assuming it's true of all recent 02 Galaxys.
I have been tempted to try the 3 button recovery fix but daren't as I don't want another bricked phone - 02 would start to get suspicious I think!

I dare not try the 3 button recovery fix too incase it bricks the phone. Guess we just have to wait for froyo and hope they enable recovery mode.
Yes, I suspect it was the one click lag fix I installed on the first phone that caused it to fail on boot (although it was fine for a week or so). This time all I've done is root the new phone and left it as is.
As you say, hopefully Froyo will have 3BR enabled...
Good day! Im Jay. Can some one help me to solve my problem about my samsung galaxy y gt-s5360. Its whitescreen. Even though i removed the battery and turned it on, its still whitescreen but there is a sound. I also try pressing Volume UP + Home + Power button and it is still whitescreen. I dont know what to do. Please help me! (
Sorry for my grammar.
You probably flashed the wrong firmware for your phone
You need to get into download mode to flash stock rom via odin
If you can't get into download mode by either
volume down home button power button
Or
by using a USB jig (buy one)
You will need to go to a phone repair shop for reflashing
Happened with my phone 1 yr ago.I took it to the Samsung Service Centre and those guys replaced the motherboard with a new one.

SENT FROM MY GADGET OF MASS DESTRUCTION
Hi,
A friend has some trouble with his Galaxy S4 I9505 and we're trying to fix it.
Here is the story:
- That phone got a bit of salty water inside while at the beach. Right after that, my friend pulled out the battery and waited for it to dry. Then, he tried to start it but nothing happened. The screen remained black. He took the phone to Samsung Service Center and they quoted a higher price than a new S4 for the repair... Obviously, my friend said no and took the broken phone with him...
Then, we opened it and cleaned the salt out of the mother board and everywhere else. We let it dry, put the battery in and power it on. Yeah, we get the boot logo! But that's all The phone just displays that....
- We try to go to recovery mode (Vol Up + Power) but we stick to the boot logo with "Recovery booting" in blue at the top. We can't get to recovery mode...
- We try to go to download mode (Vol Down + Power) and it works After googling around, people with similar problems at boot are advised to load a stock ROM with Odin.
- Let's do it, we get a ROM called I9505XXUEML1_I9505OLBEML1_I9505XXUEML1_HOME.tar.md5 and we flash it with Odin. Odin says "pass" and we reboot the phone to go to recovery mode. Same problem, the phone displays the logo with "Recovery booting" at the top and that's it
- Then, we flash the ROM again and provide also a PIT file. Odin says "pass" but the result is the same...
- Last attempt: we flash the PIT files first (get "Pass") and flash the ROM after that (get "Pass" again) but we still have the same behaviour.
Now, the phone shows "recovery booting" even if we try to start it normally (without holding Vol Up).
We are stuck here with no ideas.... Is the motherboard dead? It's really frustrating to see the download mode and flashing work perfectly but we can't boot up...
Any idea is welcome
Thanks!
Note: That phone was not rooted or anything before. My friend is a normal user who doesn't play around with custom ROMs.
You can keep flashing stock roms, sometimes these issues are fixed by perseverance (you'll flash 8 & for whatever reason it works on the 9th, etc). Could be something else hardware-wise causing the problems given the exposure to saltwater, most likely fix in that case is a motherboard replacement. It's not a case of the motherboard being 'dead', or the phone wouldn't boot at all, but let's face it, saltwater is incredibly corrosive, and it only takes a very brief exposure to cause permanent damage. Best bet is to take it to a local mobile repair shop (will be cheaper than a Samsung service centre most likely) & have them diagnose.

Many thanks for your replies!
As suggested, we'll try first to flash the stock rom several times and see if we get lucky.
We'll keep you posted.
I bricked my phone trying to flash a ROM. It was rooted. Now I cant get it back. I need help ASAP. Can anyone help me?
First prroblem is that your name is Tijuana Hooker. Lol
Can you boot into recovery or download mode by holding the power and volume up/down? If so you will be able to get your phone back up and running

Boot in DOWNLOAD MODE and reflash the firmware.
Do you mean use Samsung Kies?
Is this likely a hardware fail of the internal ssd? The phone is almost brand new. I'm wondering if I should return it to Samsung?

You might have to use "odin" to reflash your stock firmware.
I don't think you have to send it back to Samsung.
Thanks for the replies. I have arranged for the phone to be returned to Samsung under Warranty.
One of the first things they asked was if I had flashed or tampered with the firmware and they said it would invalidate the warranty! So I don't want to try it in case it doesn't work and then they can detect that I flashed it and they refuse warranty. I've not long bought this phone but it's outside the 30 day returns period.
Real pain as I was enjoying the phone until this happened
