Can you tell me something about the differents betwin "IceCream Sandwich" and "Jellybean"
Which is best, what is best for DHD and which is progressing most etc, etc...
I have just have Jellybean so i don't know anything about ICS. Should I change to ICS or not ? I like Jellybean alot but i dont know anything about anyone else...

The ICS v. JB thing is covered a lot already elsewhere; the differences are the same for all Android hardware. As for DHD, the ICS ROMs are very stable and mostly feature complete, so they are not progressing as quickly as JB ROMs now. JB ones are also getting very stable and complete, but there are still little bugs here and there.
All thing considered JB is definitively smoother then ICS.
JB devs focused on shortening input->draw lag as much as possible.
I feel that jellybean is much faster than ics. I am comparing the icecoldsandwich and jellytime roms for this.

Yep, IMHO much smoother and faster. Even though it has few bugs, now I just can't go back to ICS after experiencing JB (JellyTime r9.1)
I would say that you can't really compare them as they are different but of course in an ideal world you would say jellybean should be better as it's the upgrade. I think it boils down to personal preference at the end of the day. I am a lover of moving forward with technology and so anything new is good imo (even if it's not good lol)....But others will love Gingerbread, Froyo, ICS or Jellybean for specific reasons be it battery life, look, feel or just that it's what they're used to. You've got to try them all out really before you can decide for yourself...Get flashing
I'm running JellyTime on an Inspire, used IceColdSandwich before. I liked ICS a great deal, but once I flashed JellyTime there's no way I'd go back. I feel like JT runs a bit faster, is definitely smoother, and battery life is roughly comparable.
The whole "which OS is best" thing is highly subjective, and really there's no way to answer it. But for myself, I love JellyTime.
ICS is very stable on DHD.
JB is much more faster that ICS, but has many bugs.
The most important bug is low call quality, it's hard to use it as a daily rom.

Low call quality on what ROM? This has been fixed for quite sometime in almost all the JellyBean ROMs (codefireX, JellyTime, MIUIv4).

Your best bet? Try them all and see what fits. No one person will ever know what you like and don't like except if that person is you. I, like you, and using RB's JellyTime and it works best for me (the bugs are there but it doesn't bother me due to what I use my phone for). That will be different for everyone. Just backup, try out. If you don't like the one you loaded, restore.... and have your charger ready
Currently JellyBean ROM for DHD are smoother because there is no sense on it whereas ICS ROM are less smooth but with sense. OCS Sense ROM are good to use and stable like BlackOut(Sense 3.6) and TrickDroid(Sense 4.0)

Actually, there are non-Sense ICS ROMs. IceColdSandwich and aospX come to mind.

Thank you all for your answer...
I already have Jellybean as i wrote and after what i read here i dont see any reason to install ICS... I'm satisfied enough with Jellybean... I just hope they can fix the camera soon...
Again, what's wrong with the camera? It takes decent photos and records in 720p.

I just tried JellyTime R9.1.
It's still there. Maximum volume is too low and sound is noisy.
Release 10 is out and the camera should work
How's the call quality in JellyTime R10?
Using Sabsa 5 at the moment and it's ok in that.
Would like to try the JT 10, but not if the call quality is poor.
Cheers,

No, never had this since 9.1.
As far as camera bugs are concerned, there is a bug that it doesn't auto focus in barcode scanner i.e. not a major thing but still a bug

Hey guys.
Must say for early stages ICS looks pretty sweet. Looking forward to the stable version by Codeworkx and team.
My opinion though is that i still find Gingerbread pretty solid and has all the features i need still. Yes ICS is still in early stages. But there are still few features that i can not leave without just yet. And plus battery life of course is a major issue for me so when kernel sources are released i am sure we shall see an influx of kernels to tackle the problem as it was in the early days of Gingerbread on our gorgeous phones.
Question here is...Do you guys find it worth the jump even on early stages or are you sticking with Gingerbread as it is still stable and you have all the features you can ask for till the gorgeous CM9 gets more stable? Also what would you like from Gingerbread to be on ICS
Thanks
The problem is I've already made the jump much earlier, and it's now unacceptable going back to GB..

I also made the jump but something made me come back to GB..I think it is still because the build is still in early stages and bugs and errors occur..Plus having the voodoo app now by Supercurio kinda makes me hold up a bit longer. Yes i know that is not a good enough reason but also battery life is a major one for me...
What i like to know in the new build of CM9 is it as smooth as people say it is when scrolling?

Well I'm most likely the wrong person to answer that, having come from the original SGS since only the last 2 days. And no, I don't think that it's not a good enough reason to revert to GB for Voodoo LOUDER when I'm actually giving it a fair thought of going back to the SGS1 for Voodoo Sound...

Don't worry, there are plenty of people like you and me giggling at the various topics of stuttering paid alternative launchers, and buggy custom AOSP roms, but they are mostly silent.
I think its great they are there, because it can lead to new insights, but so far for me stock + TW + a mild Jkay-theme hit the sweet spot for almost everything this phone can do for me.
Opinion its a leaked test rom and not ICS release who knows what will change .

Ive been trying out the cm9 alpha for a while now and am liking it. Got it setup virtually the same as my KK5 daily.
With cm9 I don't need voodoo louder and my a2dp streaming sounds better.
But.....
I could easily go back to KK5 odexed which I have setup the way I like it. Jkay mods, frozen apps, voodoo louder, etc.
I use go launcher ex, go sms pro and poweramp on both so mostly my user interface is the same.
Found since sgs1 that I like the 3rd party apps more than stock. Thats the beauty of android I guess.
Im ok with both as a daily so far.

I started using CM9 since the first build, which was very buggy, but its been my daily driver since then and I love it now, stable enough for everyday use (amazing for an alpha) and I already find it better than CM7, I can't go back to GB after updating lol, love the new UI, the only time I ran into a problem was when I wanted to see football highlights last night but can't watch the video =D other that tho I love ICS, can't wait for a full and stable release! Highly recommend it! I found I don't need as many 3rd party apps, don't use widget locker or go launcher or go contacts etc anymore, the only one I use now is go SMS pro.

Same here. ICS is very good and I urge all to give CM9 a try. Of course we cannot mod, theme etc.. at this stage but to be frank there is no need to. Great sensible UI coupled with a very smooth and snappy scrolling and other animations makes it a perfect ROM for a common user. If you are too much into theming, tweaking etc.. stay away from CM9 at the moment until a stable one comes out.
Not much of a battery drain also. Maybe 10% more than stock GB.
ICS KP8
CM9
No thanks no advantage over what i have at present .
Yes to supposed specs when ICS is actually released .

I tested for 2 days the ICS and I must say that the samsung team it's on the good way. ICS will be a wonderful OS to run on SGS2. They still have a lot of bugs to fix, but there are just leaks. We must wait for some official releases.
At the moment you can use ICS just to explore some of the goodies that will be present in the future for our phones. We will have to keep gingerbread for a while
Personally, I want to see the weather on lockscreen fully implemented in the next builds
theres no real ICS for SGS2 right? How could we compare?
we still need to go through 2.3.7 am i right?
No, i find cm7 better than cm9 for now
Personally I don't find ICS the revolutionary change that some people were hyping around. It's an improvement, but not super.
And +1 to the people who mentioned the media part. Once it's fixed I might go to CM9.
And frankly I don't find Trebechet launcher on CM9 smoother than Touchwiz on Gingerboard :/

I am totally agree with Dzel.
Since ICS alpha(not even beta) version. its no good to compare stable GB version.
Again CM9 is much better than CM7.
I am running cm9 as my daily now as most remaining issues are not so important.
I was before on cm7 with Siyah kernel, and honestly, everything was really running smooth. I do not see any big improvment in ICS, and in that point, I am a litle disapointed.
I will stick to cm9 as ICs is now the developped OS, but I was waiting for more big changes from Google.
A litle bit like diff between OSX 10.3, .4, .5 etc etc. No real big changes.
I am interested in running ics on my int. Note. What is the most stable ics rom out there?

Definitely Imilka's AOSP. Clean, fast, stable. And what's more important - it's pure ASOP, no touchwiz, no unnecessary tweaks, just Android as it was intended.

Stunner, stunner period!!!
It depends. Would you like a complete stock Android experience, or would you like Samsungs S-Pen apps and features?
For the first one Imilka's is great. ICS Stunner, stock android, with lots of tweaks and options, is also a good choice.
If you would like the second, Midnote 3.0 is pretty good.
I'd recommend trying at least those three roms out.
It is difficult for people to recommend roms because of each user specific needs and requirements.
You will have to test them out yourself.
I'm on Midnote 3.0 at the moment and it's pretty good for normal use in my opinion.
Midnote because it's the only one that's given me fully functional Flash.

I tried ICS for the past couple of days, was using Stunner and Imilka's. I used Midnote 3.0 for 5minutes, realised my modem was not working and switched roms (lazy to fix hehe .. All ROMs were speedy, especially setting the UI options to 0.5x performance (not sure what is the exact name of the settings, all i know is that its in developer settings). I can't comment much about the 0.2GHz increase, but it didn't really bother me when i was on LP1.
Between Imilka (was using v7), Midnote 3.0 and Stunner (4.3, latest LP5), Stunner suited me the most because there were less bugs, the ability to change from phone to tablet with more convenience. Mainly Stability/functionality/convenience (eg toggles) issues. Battery life on ICS was not bad, draining 1% for every 1.5 hrs of deep sleep in 2G+Data. However running apps caused my note to be warmer and drain was higher compared to GB.
However Rocketrom v23 + Franco Test kernel still pulled me back to GB today with S-pen full functionality + stock photo editor/ on the fly editing for screenshot. Stability and awesome battery life contributed much as well.

Hi
Currently Im on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1 nightly 414 and while OK, the other day it had a HORRIBLE (unbearable) slowdown period. Even multiple restarts didnt help. Finally it seems it fixed itself but Ive looking for something new. I use Go Launcher if that makes any difference. Im into speed but I think Im going to go with stable over speed this time.
What ROM do you recommend? Also nothing broken (automatically discards all CM9 ROMs)
If you are into Sense UI, go for Virtuous ROM, stock ROM tweaked + enhancements. If CM7 works if you are into vanilla ROMs.
I have been using virtuous glite 2.0.1 its stable I had no issues at all and I get great battery life, plus its slightly overclocked. Gslim1.6 is also very good but I had better battery life with glite. Both roms are based on GB 2.3.4. Here is a good rom index thread it lists all G2-Desire Z roms

I don't think you have tried much of the Sense ROMs back then, or maybe you were doing something wrong. I have had quite a few stable and fast sense ROMs. Of course they were not as fast as vanilla ones, but it works, knowing that you are the type who wants more features in ROMs.

Same, though I'm still tweaking my SetCPU settings and such, I like EliteMod's ICS rom the most right now particularly in terms of features and responsiveness. I was trying the unofficial CM9beta13 for a couple days and that thing was eating battery like no-body's business. EliteMod seems to be much more tweaked as it's the same setup Nik3r is using for his own personal Desire-Z.
But far as stability goes, I would agree that going with a Ginger rom would be the best bet, ICS right now is still too experimental in my opinion.
I've never tried the CM7 version of EliteMod, only the official CM 7.2.0 which was ok-ish for me. The EliteMod ICS Rom to me feels much faster and responsive than even the stock CM7rom, and I much prefer QuickPix app the EliteMod uses over that slow-arse Gallery app in CM7.
I would recommend andromadus mimicry (ics) its pretty stable and everything works (for me at least). It has the ics specific flaws like scrambled text in app drawer but launcher restart fixes it. Using this rom for 2 weeks and had this text issue 1 time. Battery is good also
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk 2
You should try Elitemod cm7 it has never failed me, all the features you need, speed and stabiity plus amaizing battery life. If you wanna go ICS get the cm9 elitemod, but it is still a bit buggy.
I tried a lot of roms, and I always came back to ILWT CM7 (not new versions). Sense roms are quite good but not on Desire Z (too small amount of ram memory, multitasking on sense roms are poor - even on sense 2.1 roms with supercharger script). I waiting for stable CM9 (and yes i tried all versions of CM9 but text glitches and manually change apn to send/receives mms, makes me nervous).
That is only my subjective opinion
Anything CM7 based is very stable. Probably the most stable of all. Stay away from CM9 or anything ICS on this phone for another few months in terms of stability.

To those of you using JB on the MT4G: how is it? Stable? Good enough to be a daily driver? Everything important working for you?
I'd love to flash JB on my MT4G but I'm not sure if it's stable enough yet and the ROM threads are long and winding enough that I have trouble following them. I have a phone with the dodgy eMMC chip so I'd rather not spend all day flashing ROMs to try them out myself and possibly killing my phone in the process. I'd love to find a JB ROM that has all major features working and is close to stock JB (I don't like too much bling in my ROMs).

I'm using 0.0's Jellybean port based off the Desire S and it's been going good for the past few hours. Everything works for me, well except that front facing camera. That doesn't work on Jellybean yet. Dropping down the MPs in the camera removes the green line. I also do have the bad eMMC chip but I've been flashing almost every week to see which one is the best for me. I love ICS, especially Synthetic.Nightmare's ROM but Jellybean is getting better so I might try that for a week see how it goes.

JB is great if you don't really need video recording and FFC.
It's stable enough for a DD.
I was using CNA for awhile and then I used Awesome's Toasted Marshmallow since release.
Rocking 0.0's desire S port since he posted it... Loving it so much that I haven't even bothered flashing anything else.
Rock solid on my device. Just need ffc really... But we all know about that.

I've tried many of them, but I personally like Toasted Marshmallow from ...Awesome... It is a very stable ROM. A couple of items that don't work are Front Facing Camera (FFC) and Wifi Calling, but those are not an issue with the ROM, they are more akin to not having an official JB kernel for the MT4G. I'm anxious for Wifi Calling to get released on another JB ROM so we can port it. Good luck with whichever ROM you decide on.
For those who tried both ICS and JB, how would you rate JB compared to ICS? Much faster and more stable? Currently I'm running on Awesome DarkUnicorn 2.5 and it is very good except for: 1. some camera apps from the market won't work 2. USB tethering doesn't work.

Most peeps claim jb is faster than ICS as it should be being a update but for me ICS has been faster .

For those who tried both ICS and JB, how would you rate JB compared to ICS? Much faster and more stable? Currently I'm running on Awesome DarkUnicorn 2.5 and it is very good except for: 1. some camera apps from the market won't work 2. USB tethering doesn't work.

JB's UI is faster, ICS's games, apps, and everything else are faster and more stable (we have had a lot more time to perfect it)

Thank you. So I guess once 3.0 is out, JB would be better than ICS? I didn't experience any UI lag on my ICS. So I guess I will stay on ICS for now.

No. Once 3.0 is fixed to work as well on our devices and all the jb optimizations are added in, THEN jb will surely be better than ics. As is, comparing the UI of jb to ics (aospx) I noticed no difference in UI. Though some people swear its buttery smooth and soo much better... even though its running a 2.6 kernel optimized for ics (not jb)... the only thing I've found to be smoother in jb is the browser.

Use the button bro.
Also, Synthetic, like the new sig pic man!
I've read amazing things about the Android Revolution ROM, and I can see from the poll how it has (apparently) way more users than any other ROM.
So I have a question for Revolution fans: now that I'm addicted to the look and feel and small and big features of Jellybean ... how can I possibly go back to a Gingerbread environment?
No kidding, sell me to the idea because I can't bear myself to seriously try it, as I feel like GB will somehow make my device older, slower, feature-poor, unwieldy, etc.
(I was there when GB was the latest and sexyest, and I loved it, up untill ICS and then JB came along)
I guess it is all just a mental hickup of mine.
So please, help me get past it ... tell me what would be the catch in going back to a GB environment

That explains a lot... good thing I chose to wait until next morning to reply XD
Drunk or not, but ARHD v10 ICS Sense4 is coming nevertheless!
good to know
but it still doesn't answer my doubts... which then will become ICS-vs-JB instead of GB-vs-JB
with gb your camera working better
your device is faster and the quality of sound is awesome..jb doesnt fit to your device you like it or not
you have desire hd i supose right?
yep, I've got a DesireHD bought 3 years ago, in Italy.
So you're saying that performance (and various apps, like Camera) is actually better ... considerind how Jellytime and Cyanogen are behaving in a bat**** crazy way in the past few days (and the new CodefireXperimental 4.3 is yet to come out) I guess I'll give it a try
Is 7.3 the latest for DHD? ...from the original Revolution post it seems the latest would be 9.0 but I can't find the download link for my device
Ok, scratch that last part, I'm more asleep than I originally thought ... found the 9.0 files XD

I doubt the camera in Sense 4 is any worse, and on AOSP you can always install MIUI one from GB which does a really decent job on DHD.
SQ is also great on Sense4. Now as for the "faster", this is a bold stament. To be more specific GB is more responsive, better on multitasking, but ICS/JB is way smoother (there is no comparison when browsing) and it still isn't slow or laggy at all.
use this rom
