When trying to install Tezet's CM10, I came across a problem with my CWM install, and was wondering if anyone was able to help me with recovering from it. When I go to choose SIP from SD card, it says unable to mount SD card, and in the logs it is unable to find find the SD card (cant remember the exact device, but was /deb/block/mmc...), but in android the SD card is on /dev/block/vold/179:1. I believe the problem would have originated when I tried the CM9 rom (went from CM7 to CM9, decided it wasn't for me at that stage due to being a bit to unstable still, so went back to CM7 and haven't flashed any roms since.
How can I go about installing an older version of CWM that is compatible with CM7, to be able to mount the SD card again, so that I can try the new mod. Everything I have read installs CWM from SD card, which is not an option for me, for obvious reasons.
Thanks in advance.

Hello there,
i got some problems after updating with kies to froyo. the sd card will not be recognized in my samsung 5800 anymore. i tried to format the sd card, to use some other sd cards and flash some other custom 2.2 roms with the same result. i also tried to mount the sd card manually with no success. if i flash back to the original 2.1 version everythin works fine.
could someone please help me?
Is there no idea?
install mini tool partition and convert ur whole mem card to single unpartitioned space(PC)
insert the unpartitioned card to ur phone with 2.2 of ur choice (Kies or custom)
u will get the message that the card is damaged in ur notifications tray
goto settings>SD card>format card
it should work if not
try another card with ur phone and identify if the problem is with the card or phone
thank you,
but i just tried to insert an unpartitioned card with the same problem. also other cards will not be recognized. after booting it shows "scanning for mediafiles... ", but nothing happens. i also can´t install update.zip in the recovery mode.
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or NULL)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted
i would say that the problem is with the phone. but i don´t understand it, cause everytime i flash back to 2.1 everything works fine.
Maybe there are some problems with the driver for the sd card slot???

Did you take the SD card out before flashing the rom? If not keep your SD card out and reflash.
thank you for the hint. i took out the sd card befor flashing and i tried it a lot of times.
Found a solution yet?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
go back to 2.1 and make sure that the sd card is in working condidion
now update to kies WITH SD CARD INSIDE THE PHONE
i personally use custom roms which is better than what samsung releases as a tideover...........but that's my opinion lol
Sorry, but i also tried that a cuple of times. i updates by kies, i flashed different types of roms (customs and originals) and in no 2.2 version it works. i don´t unterstand where ist the problem. i tried different custom roms too, because i thought they might be better.
is there any chance of protocolling the boot up ? i want to see if my phone ist trying to mount the sd card.
well it seems that ur phone is at fault
if u still have warranty then put the stock 2.1 rom and give it to the samsung service guys they'll replace ur cell
be sure to have both boot and rom as stock without rooting
I can't get my SD Card mounted in CWM. When the phone is on it is fine but when I try to flash from CWM is says the SD Card is not mounted. Any one have any suggestions?
What ROM are you on?
I tried for the longest time to use CM7 and CWM refused to mount my SD card. I asked about it on here and have seen several other threads but with no resolution or fix.
So i went to flash a ROM and now it says while flashing that the flash was aborted because the system can't mount the SD card. I'm using the newest CWM and have flashed stuff before. Not sure what to do, it wont let me make backups, restore, or flash anything.
I find it kinda strange, because once I reboot my tablet, everything's working fine, but it's not letting me install a custom rom
And yes, I have...
1. Unlocked by booloader.
2. Rooted my phone along with installing superuser.
3. Installed CWM recovery through fastboot (or whatever it's called, lol)
Has anyone gone through the same thing?
Bump....
Cm on guys I really need to get this rolling ...
What class SD Card are you using? I have issues with CWM on this Tablet reading anything above a class 6. I have a Class 10 SD Card that I have to swap Out and put in a different slower class card to flash roms and what not so I personally have had to deal with this because of the speed. Anyway hope that helps you out.
I'll try another sd card and see if it work out. Thanks for the advice!!
Bump. Using a different SD card didn't work, unfortunately

Back up all ur SD card files to PC
In CWM, you will find a Advance/ partition Sd card
Use this and make a 128 mb one, Reboot to CWM and CWM will recognize your card.

Please help me i have a similar problem. I tried to partition it and it worked but it wouldnt recognize my sd card. Idk what happened maybe i formatted by mistake and now i dont have a system (or atleast it wouldnt boot up) and i have a cwm that doesnt mount recovery so i cant flash.
please someone help me! i need my phone
FIXED!
Nevermind. I did it wrong. U were supposed to partition sd card make it 128-128 and then while still in advanced setting restart launcher. Then you have to go to mount the card manually through mounts and storage.
if you just shut down the device it wouldnt work.
thank you for helping me fix this demonntl
For some strange reason My external Sd card does not show up in the cwm Recovery. The Sd card is fine, it worked on my S2 Fine but for some reason its not working on the cwm Recovery. Currently running Stock Tmobile 4.0.4. Cwm 5.8.4.7. I am able to see my phones internal sd files, just the external sd appears to be missing. i have also tried mounting the external sd but have been unsuccessful. any help?

Anything newer than 5.8.4.5 isn't seeing the sd card on the AT&T version. I doubt yours is any different. You can download what you need here: http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/
Hi guys, long time reader and first time poster here with a question. I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered, but I have searched throughout the nook forums and have not found a solution yet to my problem and any help is greatly appreciated.
I have been wanting to use CM10 as my daily driver on my nook for awhile now, however everytime I flash the ROM and get things set up, I run into an issue where the ROM does not consider my SD card to be mounted. I have adjusted the settings to be set to Mass USB Storage as one person suggested in the development thread, I have formatted it numerous times to try to see if that was causing the issue, and so far nothing has worked.
I know that the SD card that is in my nook is good as it shows up in ICS without any problems. Does anyone else have any idea on what I could try to get the SD card to mount properly in CM10?
Thanks again for any help, and many apologies if this is answered in another thread.

When you say mounted, you mean you cannot see it under storage devices within CM10? It does not show up in your file manager? That USB mass storage setting is just for seeing on your PC when you plug the USB cable in. It has nothing to do with seeing the card in CM10. And you tried formatting several times you said. How did you format it? In the PC with windows? You need to try SDFormatter which is a free windows program on the web. Other users have said that that makes them show up on the Nook. When the nook first starts up, it tries to read the SD and scan it, if it can't, it won't mount it. There could be something very simple wrong with the card that the nook sees and your PC does not.

Leap,
I have to apologize, I used the wrong terminology in my original post. It seems that the issue I am having is with the SD card being stuck in RO mode and not being able to write to it from CM10. Anything that I have tried to download via the Play Store fails to install with an error saying that it could not install to USB Storage or SD Card. I have formatted the card via Windows, CWM, and using the SDFormatter program to no avail. I have also tried to fix permissions via CWM and Rom Manager and that has not resulted in resolving the issue that I seem to be having. I love the speed at which CM10 runs, and if I can get the SD Card to be RW it would easily replace the ICS build that I've been using forever now, I just don't know what else I can try to get the card to be RW while running CM10.

The problem is CM10 is very finicky about the format on the card. If it does not like it, it mounts it read only. Look for SDFormatter on the web and format with that. Should fix it.
Edit, I just reread and said you tried that. That should have fixed it. Do it again but turn off quick format.

Leap,
Thank you for all the help you've provided, however it doesn't seem that doing a long format with overwrite in SD Formatter got it to work. I'm going to retreat back to ICS for now.

Just a question, after you format the card, do you move any files in it? I had the same exact problem and it must have been a defective file in my titanium backup folder because I had no problem using the same sd when I synch'd titanium via dropbox.
I installed the 19/11 nightly and it is better than anything I ever run on nook. even CM7
Tschumi,
After I finish formatting it via SD Formatter, I place it back into the nook completely blank and reboot the nook. After that, I try to download anything from the play store that requires SD install and it fails to install.

Use ROM Manager and select "Format SD card" which will allow apps to install. Nook will reboot into CWM and begin formatting SD card. Be FOREWARNED! You will lose anything you have stored on the SD card so make a backup and trasnsfer to your PC or somewhere you can later retrieve.
Ok so here's an update on this issue for me. It appears that no matter how many times I used SD Formatter to format my 16Gb micro sd card, it would not be recognized by CM10. I grabbed an old 8Gb micro SD card and threw it in my nook and it worked perfectly, so it appears that there's an underlying issue with the card itself that was causing the problems. Thanks to everyone for the tips and advice on how to fix this issue for me. I appreciate it.

I am having the same issue with my 16GB Patriot microSD card. The card is recognized, but always displays as full (26GB used) in the settings menu. I have reformatted numerous times to no avail. I have an old 4GB card in there now with no issues.

It is that Patriot brand and CM10. CM10 is very finicky about sdcards. If it does not like how one performs, it changes it to read only. You can try formatting the card with SDFormatter, which you can get free on the web. That may help, but it may not.
